She's 22
That day, she woke up early. She was in a good mood and certainly was hoping to have a good day as well.
So after a run in the park next to her apartment complex, she went back home, took a shower and decided to get her breakfast in the Starbucks next to her work building. There, she went on the line, already checking her email account on her smartphone, while waiting for her time to make an order.
"Miss?"
Closing the lid on her phone, she turns to the cashier. "I want a latte and a brownie, please."
"It will be $7.25, miss."
She gives the boy the money and her name, then goes to a table by the window. Not so long after that, a limo stops right in the front of her window. A girl, around earlier to mid twenties is getting out the car, when a hand goes out and stops the girl to completely leave the car. The thumb making little circles around the girl's pulse is a move that she knows well. Then the girl laughs about something and finally leave, just to get into the Starbucks shop.
She knows what happens behind the dark glasses of that limousine. She knows and she should forget all about that but she just can't. She was happy, even knowing she was just another stupid little girl, another Emily, another trophy, thinking that she is the only, being treated like a princess.
No, she was just one more fling.
Just like the girl that is trying to hold on two fucking hot cups of latte and a bag of cookies, probably for herself
She is still thinking about a life that should be buried in the past when her phone goes off. A message.
You must know that you are the only one that matters. I really hope you know that, Andrea.
Andy's head snaps towards the limo, when the car's window opens. There, in all her glory, is Miranda, looking at her. The woman is insufferable. But she should know Miranda would be checking the girl and everything around her. Probably she perceived Andy looking.
I can get rid of her right now if you come back to me.
Andy just stares at the message. The nerve! She is conflicted about answering it.
I won't go back to being your assistant.
I never said anything about going back to the magazine.
The day started good. This is getting out of control. Andy just leaves the already forgotten latte and gets up. She needs to get out.
As soon as she is out the shop, Miranda is out of the car.
"Andrea. Get in the car, please."
"I have to work, Miranda."
Andy tries to get around her, to keep on her way. "Please."
"Everything you touch, you burn. I won't be around anymore. I can't. You and your new Emily can go to hell. It's no wonder why they call you 'The Devil in Prada'."
"No, Andrea. You know I wasn't this way with you. I need you back."
"Miranda?"
Andy and Miranda turn back to the voice. Andy can recognize that look. She saw that same bright eyes on her mirror for a long time. This girl is in love with Miranda.
"Go inside the car." When the girl doesn't move, Miranda snaps. "Now!"
The girl scurries and get in the car. Miranda tries to get a hold on Andy, but she steps back. "You should go in, too. Have a nice life."
"You'll just throw away
Every word I say
You can throw away...
Does she make you happy?
Does she make you happy?
Does she make you happy?
I'd like to see you happy"
AN: I'm getting back. Sorry for the delay. Thanks for reading.
