This was ready a couple days ago, but it kept giving me errors when I tried to post the chapter.

So, of course I am super busy and was unable to get out the chapter in a week! I also got sick again -_- Here it is now though. This will be the last chapter until after finals. May 14th is semester end and I will start writing the next chapter after that.

Returning right at the end of the semester was a bad idea. But, after finals there is nothing standing between me and this story except work and other random happenings until the end of August!

Sorry for obvious mistakes. Being sick twice in a row is great. :(

The first night away from Desmond Tiny was like a breath of fresh air, yet also terrifying and lonely. It was strange being out from under his thumb and I had thought I would enjoy it more than I had. There were no texts from Harkat, or Mr. Tiny and I stayed up all night, traveling deeper into the United States. It was only in the morning that I rested for a few hours and continued on, putting as much distance between us as we could. Because I had no blood from Mr. Tiny I had days, or up to a week if I really pushed it, before I would go clinically insane and kill myself from bloodlust.

At lunchtime I stopped to eat in a questionable diner and finally my phone chimed. I picked it up and looked at it, pausing with a forkful of eggs inches from my mouth.

'He hasn't spoken for the whole night,' I could feel the worry from the text that Harkat had sent.

I set down the fork and typed a quick response, surprised as well. Mr. Tiny loved to talk. 'Well that is mildly concerning. Does he seem angry?' I wasn't really all that worried about it, but in case Mr. Tiny was reading over Harkat's shoulder, I wanted him to be slightly mollified that I was worried about what he was thinking. Mr. Tiny wouldn't harm me. Much.

'It's hard to tell. He definitely hasn't flown into a blind rage or anything. Nor he is sitting in there like he does when he gets really calm and furious. He is just….thinking.' Harkat replied. That was interesting. I had expected Mr. Tiny to drop everything and chase me to the ends of the earth, especially now that he knew I remembered everything. Perhaps my letter had gotten through to him and he was taking time to actually make a good choice.

'Has he made any indication about the letter in a negative or positive way?' I asked. I pushed aside the empty plate and set ten dollars on the table. I was outside before Harkat answered again.

'He keeps taking it out of his pocket and reading it. I honestly think he is confused. But once he gets over it I doubt you will have much time before he catches up to you.'

I nodded to myself and typed quickly. 'I don't need a lot of time to do what I want. My goals in the short term are relatively simple and have been slightly edited in the time we have been apart. I think…' I paused and thought, deciding how best to word this so Mr. Tiny wouldn't pick up on it immediately if he read it. 'I want to get my weapons and supplies. Like I had before, I feel naked without them. I know I can't exact copies, but close.' There, that would have to do. I intended to get my sword and maybe Harkat would see that, but it was slightly vague.

I slid my phone into my pocket and strolled into the parking lot, looking for a car or other vehicle that would suit my needs. Something fast, but not conspicuous to get me where I needed to go. I couldn't call the sword to me, but I could feel it, unlike Mr. Tiny. It was like a thin thread attached to the sword that trailed all the way back to me and I just had to follow it to wherever the sword had ended up after my fall. My gaze fell on a black motorcycle and I smiled. Perfect.

Moments later, with a bit of magic, I had the motorcycle running smoothly. I put on the helmet and pushed the visor down, glossing a touch of glamour over the license plate and I so police wouldn't bother to pull me over for any traffic crime like speeding or driving a stolen vehicle. I would have traveled the rest of the way in dragon form, but the sword seemed to be in a majorly populated area of the united States and I had no wish for rampant reports of dragons to hit the news. Applying a glamour to myself as a dragon was something I had yet to master, unlike when I had only partial dragon features like now, which were covered completely in magic.

I checked the phone for an answer from Harkat, but there was nothing. I assumed and hoped he had to leave the conversation only because Mr. Tiny had returned, or was insisting on reading it and not because something bad had happened. But I was unusually pissed that Harkat had left the conversation so suddenly.

I peeled out of the parking lot and headed for the closest highway heading west. I would have taken the ocean all the way around the States, but the thread had a very specific route and I did not want to assume that going off course wouldn't break it. Not only that, but my muscles ached from the long night of swimming, like I had the flu, which made little sense. Besides the time when I was poisoned, catching something like a cold or a virus had become a nonissue. If I was becoming ill, it would be something serious that could break past my toughened immune system, which was worrying.

I shrugged off the dark thoughts and let them sweep away into the wind, focusing my thoughts ahead and on the ticking clock that was the time I had left.

Four hours later a rest stop made an appearance and I pulled off the highway to make a stop there; my muscles ached just like they had swimming and it was with a grimace and grunt that I got off the motorcycle. Moments after my feet touched the ground, my phone rang and by the tone I knew it was Harkat. I fished my phone out of my jacket, wincing when my fingers cracked like a person three times my age.

"Harkat? What is it?" I asked, kicking down the stand on the bike and walking toward the bathroom. I felt unusually tense and angry. The feeling had been getting worse throughout the ride so far, so much so that I had been tempted to flip cars out of my way on the highway. Stupid human traffic jams.

"You sound like you were expecting me to be dead," Harkat said.

"That isn't unreasonable considering you left the conversation without much warning this morning," I replied tensely. I swung the door open and leaned against the wall just inside the door, watching weary travelers enter and leave.

"Sorry about that. Mr. Tiny came in and I had to make a quick exit. He was hanging around after that too much for me to answer," Harkat explained. I heard him rustling around and the creak of a bed when he sat down. "He's gone Mr. Tiny that is. He left the tent in a campsite and thats where I am with enough money to fuel a small army."

My eyes widened. Apparently he hadn't needed as long as I had thought to collect his thoughts. "Shit. How long ago did he leave?"

"An hour at most. I was giving him time to make sure he didn't come back and catch me in the middle of contacting you."

I muttered several curses, digging my toe so hard into the wall behind me that it cracked. I yanked my foot away and discreetly put my foot over the hole.

Harkat snorted. "Don't worry. You have a head start, at least I dearly hope so. You've got magic. He probably wont be able to find you that easily. Just don't interact with random people who talk to you," he said seriously.

"You think he would go that route again?" I asked disbelievingly.

"I don't know. He might just snatch you but who the hell knows? Especially since you wrote that letter," Harkat said, sounding way too amused.

A confused and slightly pissed Mr. Tiny sounded frightening, but in reality he was way more predictable when he was pissed then when he was cool and calculating. Right now he was at the very least uncertain. "I hope he decided on something when he wasn't ready and not when he was done thinking it over," I said and frowned, voice trailing off. A scent had entered the building, one that was vaguely familiar and itched at my memory. "Hold on," I said and pressed the phone against my shoulder, moving further into the rest stop.

Right outside the mens bathroom was a middle aged man and a middle aged woman, both scanning the crowds with pinched expressions and tired bags under their eyes. They looked like ordinary people, but my heart did a flip, plummeted to my feet and flew back up into my mouth. Those bastards had been with Harrison, just another set of guards that had assisted in the torture.

I spun away and ducked behind a set of vending machines. "Harkat. Two of his men are here," I said quickly.

"What?" Harkat gasped, knowing who I was talking about right away. He sounded strangled and very, very angry.

"They are obviously looking for someone, but I don't know if it is me," I said, trying to be reasonable through the magic that was welling up. I wanted to rip them apart and not one part of me considered the fact that this was a public setting a problem.

"Who else would it be? How is it you leave and then this happens only….not even a full day later?" Harkat hissed.

"I know, I know," I said, trying to keep calm. "But listen. I have glamours on myself and the motorcycle. I could kill them and the police would never be able to find me. That was what I wanted to do along with get my sword, but if I do it in a public place it will hit the news. The police may not be able to see my face, but if Mr. Tiny bothers to pay attention, he will see it is glamours easily. After that he has my last known location and that makes it easier for him to find me." I was saying this more to convince myself than Harkat.

"Don't you want him to find you eventually?" Harkat asked, keeping his voice calm.

"Yes," I said in a soft voice.

"But not yet. Don't do anything stupid. There will be plenty of time after you get the sword. Keep it a surprise that we are coming."

"I can't do that," I said, voice coming out much deeper than normal.

"Darren," Harkat said. I ignored him and watched the pair who were still looking, oblivious to the danger that they were so close to. "Darren! Listen to me! Somethings wrong with you!"

My body thrummed with nervous energy and magic all mixed together into a dangerous combination while I looked at the pair of the bastard humans. My control wavered, shuddered and snapped like an over stretched rubber band.

I slowly put the phone back into my pocket and growled, the sound carrying far enough that several humans scurried away from me with shocked glances. I didn't care about the silly, soft creatures. They were in my way and I pushed past them toward the monsters that were my goal, ignoring the screams when my glamours fell.

The two that had my focus noticed the increasing mayhem and finally noticed me stalking toward them, eyes blazing with wild hate. Their eyes widened when they saw my tail sweeping across the ground and wings fluffed up in preparation of a fight. They screamed just like the humans around them and pushed into the throng shoving toward the exit doors.

I waved my hand lazily and the doors sealed themselves shut. Another wave and the all but one of the cameras exploded. A jerk of my head and the two were violently thrown back from the rest of the humans, skidding across the ground to slam against the walls were they stuck like slugs. Someone smashed through the glass window and now the humans were pouring out from the building, but I paid them no mind, having caught the prey I wanted.

Now that they were mine, I considered what to do to them with slow deliberation. The camera that was left looked over all three of us, frozen with magic to keep the angle. I grabbed the man and swung him up the wall with me until both of our faces filled the camera view.

The man squirmed and squealed, fighting the grip that had him pressed into the wall while I clung to it with one clawed hand and foot.

"Shhhh," I whispered, trailing a hand down his cheek. I smiled. "Why don't you tell the camera what you did?"

"Go to hell- AHHH!" The man screamed in pain as my free hand cut into his side.

"Let's try that again," I growled, thrilled that the prey was resisting. It made all of this so much funner.

Though hitching breaths the man looked into the camera, but his expression went blank and instead of confessing he chuckled. "Harrison will have you back in that collar you little freak."

For a moment I did nothing, hanging off the wall in surprise that the human dared insult me in such a manner. The next second however, I attacked without mercy. In front of the camera I brought the male down to the ground and ripped him apart, blood spraying everywhere. I did not bother to speak to the female before I did the same to her. Only when it was over and sirens wailed, growing closer and closer did I stop to take in the carnage. Blood covered the floors and walls and the humans could no longer be recognized as anything that was once living.

I grinned up at the camera, gesturing proudly to my work and wiped a hand across my face that did nothing but smear the blood all over me further. "Catch you later Harrison," I chortled in a deep, savage voice.

I paused long enough to smash in a vending machine and grab some chips before I danced out of the rest stop, past the humans cowering outside in groups. I climbed onto the motorcycle, ignoring the blood that smeared onto the seat and handlebars and reapplied the glamours in a much more wayward and incomplete fashion then before.

When I got back onto the highway, roaring past the police who did nothing, unable to see past the glamours, I headed in a completely different direction than I had been heading before, a manic glint growing in my eyes every time a car got anywhere close to me. Almost as an after thought I took the phone out of my pocket and looked at the fifteen missed calls from Harkat and eight texts from an unknown number. I rolled my eyes and casually dropped the phone, laughing when it bounced down the highway and was crushed under a tire.

There is an explanation for what is happening to him mentally and it is actually a normal occurrence for a species.….not that they go on rampages or anything when it happens…..

It has to do with something flying (not a dragon). A real life species.

They can get extremely pissy and their personality can change dramatically.

If you figure it out, guess in a review! If anyone gets it right I will shout them out next chapter. (or whichever chapter it is revealed)

See you after finals! If I survive :P
