Just...continuing this story for myself since I don't want it to die yet and I like these two.
I don't own Pokemon but I own this story.
Based loosely on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team game.
Clearly I didn't edit this or proofread ahahaha
Orchid awoke at the sound of a large wooden beam falling from its propped-up position on the wall. She looked around, lids half open, legs and arms covered in dirt from sleeping on the messy floor.
"I really…I really should have cleaned up a little more…" she let out a long sigh and fell to the floor, dead leaves and dirt shifting under her light weight. Light shone through the cracks in the wall yet to be repaired, and the make-shift window, a light orangey yellow stream; morning had come but dawn hadn't past quite yet, the fresh air turned slightly humid in the poorly ventilated building. The moisture in the air felt nice on Orchid's skin as a grass type, but to others it would prove suffocating and uncomfortable.
Water that managed to accumulate on the walls slid down to wet the floor, creating an earthy-like smell wrapping around Orchid's nose.
"Can I really not just stay here a little longer?" she rolled over to sniff the damp grass with a smile, at home with the scents and slight discomfort, until she heard a knock on the broken-down door from in front of the building.
"Who…" the door creaked open slightly but stopped with a thud, getting stuck behind the fallen wooden beam.
"Hello?" a tired, husky voice came out from the other side with a tan, clawed hand peeking out from the opening. Orchid shifted in place to look towards the door, eyes growing wider as she realized who the appendage belonged to, the rowdy Charmander who let her stay there in the first place.
"Uh…um…"
"Orchid? You're still in here aren't you? Flametail questioned the little Bulbasaur but she remained silent.
"Orchid? You have to be in there, I can smell you in here!"
"What! Smell?!" she stumbled backwards, a deep blush of pink across her face. She bent down to sniff her clothes, only able to smell the earthiness reflected by the ground she lay on most of the night.
"No! Well, I mean yes! But I mean it's not a bad smell…But you are kinda smelly and-"
"Smelly!?" her voice came out in an embarrassed squeak, and she sunk further away from the door, embarrassment growing at the prospect of smelling.
"Wait, wait! Don't take this the wrong way! You just, with the humidity and the heat, and everything you-"
"I don't want an explanation…"
"But"
"I don't want an explanation!"
"Just listen!"
"No! You just said I stink!"
"I didn't say you stink."
"Yes, you did, you said I'm-"
"Smelly! I said you're smelly because you smell really nice actually! Damn it!" a loud thud was heard against the door as Flametail raised his voice. Orchid's eyes went wide as she sunk into the underbrush around her, blush spreading to her ears and the res of her cheeks, with a little flower blooming slightly on the top of her head. She felt the sensation, and with a start reached up to touch the tiny petals.
"Orchid, I really wasn't making fun of you if that's what you thought. So if you could just open the door please, that would be great…" Flametail whined as he scraped his claws against the makeshift door, causing Orchid to sigh and shake her head in annoyance, though inwardly glad he wasn't out to make fun of her. Blush still spread across her face, she shuffled about the room and dusted herself off while Flametail attempted to peak his head into the small space between the door. He was pushed back suddenly by Orchid's hand and ds, giving her room to squeeze out from the space. Her disheveled appearance was a shock to his eyes.
"Um…are you okay?"
"Hello to you to Flametail." She brushed herself off as much as she could but the dirt remained stuck to her skin and clothes.
"Orchid what were you even doing in there? I could have sworn there was a place for you to sleep and-" He paused to look at the budding flower on her head, reaching out to gently touch the petals. Orchid jumped in response, releasing a stun spore all around them, covering Flametail head to toe in the sparkling yellow dust. He twitched and fell to the ground; the spore strong enough to leave him incapacitated but not strong enough to hide the grimace on his face from the sudden attack.
"I am so. so. so. so. sorry!" Orchid bent down to look at him, Flametail growling in response.
"I can go get help! Or we can wait until the postman comes by?"
"No, I don't want them to see this. I look ridiculous."
"I'm sure he's seen…worse?"
"Please."
"It's not that bad?"
"You're clearly lying."
"Well you can't just stay here on the ground, and I don't have the skills or the items to help you so we need to find someone else!"
"You don't know anyone here, and I'm not telling anyone about this so just move me into the bushes or something and let this crap wear off!" Flametail raised his voice at Orchid, his teeth gritting at the energy it took to do so. She sighed in defeat and sat down next to him with a huff, trying to play off her disappointment with an expression of annoyance. They were not handling the situation well.
