Gunner held me close to him as I lay in his lap, his fingers running through my wig slipping it off to get to my real hair.

"Stop tormenting yourself. It'll be okay." He assures as I sigh closing my eyes.

"I should have never threatened him. I let my emotions take over. He just..." I stop, and he takes my hand rubbing my palm applying slight pressure.

We lay on the roof. As soon as I came he sent the boys home and took me to our favorite spot where I collapsed in his lap intertwining our fingers taking deep breaths trying to avoid the tears burning my eyes.

"Hey." He takes my face tilting it up to his placing light kisses on my lips. "It will okay." He moves where he hovers over me letting his hands roam over my body sending shivers up my spine.

"But it won't." I grumble sitting up hugging my knees to my chest.

Gunner nods, he begins tracing shapes on my back; his finger tip dragging over the fabric of my dress swirling into letters. I smile closing my eyes working to shut off the bad thoughts. I focus on the feeling on his hand on my back, the soothing sensation lulling me into a state of calmness. Looking to Gunner I take his blazer pulling him onto my lips. I could feel the smile on his lips as his hand tangles in my hair holding me close. The thundering worry in my mind fades more and more as he continues. I can feel my mind turning to mush increasing every second he mouth is on mine.

"Home?" He breaks the embrace taking my hand helping me up.

We walk home arm in arm keeping our guards up, but I could sense how we both were counting the steps until we reach the flat where we could rid ourselves of the act and curl up on the couch kissing and snuggling. The rough exteriors could fall away allowing us to be us.

Eight more steps. We look at each other and sprint to the door laughing as we realize we still had to unlock the door. I am shrugging out of my outfit before Gunner even has time to open the door. He turns the handle and we tumble in. I tug his coat and suspenders down smiling as he reaches behind me unzipping my dress. With only our underclothes on us we move our shower.

The water runs over our skin washing off the false life's we led. His hands ran conditioner through my short hair while he kissed my nose smiling as my peachy complexion was revealed. We returned to our former selves with each trickle of water until finally the water turned cold.

I took a towel wrapping it snuggly around my chest as he grabbed another rustling my hair with it. Moving to my dresser I toss on a cozy sweater and socks curling onto our bed reaching out for him. He smiles climbing in beside me letting me settle against his chest and trace my fingers over the muscles on his lean abdomen. He laughs twirling my hair in his fingers as we begin to fall into a deep slumber where nothing else mattered, but the feeling of our bodies entwined.

Short again and I apologize, but Red seems like she's got stuff on her mind. I'm really looking forward to writing the next chapter though. You can review if you want.
