"Glass. Victoria. You're presence is requested in the Library," One of the mundane residents addressed them as the boy knocked on Victoria's bedroom door. Neither of them had showered, they'd wanted to relax for a moment, but all was in vain. Slowly they made their way to the Library. Neither knew what to expect as they opened the door.
"Does someone want to explain what the hell is going on?" Victoria's eyes set on Aaron, waiting not so patiently for a response.
"That's why I'm here.. To explain everything." Aaron looked to his daughter with pleading eyes, hoping she'd listen to what he had to say.
Victoria nodded, her jaw tightening as she pulled Glass over to take a seat on the dark leather sofa.
"Alright, let's here it then." Victoria kept her eyes locked with Aaron's as he sat down in a chair in front of her.
"Is there.. Is there anything you'd like to know specifically?" Aaron was breathing heavy, Victoria could tell he was afraid of what her answer might be.
"How did my mother die?" Victoria voice was tense and uneasy, but her expression remained hard.
"She was murdered.. By Glass's mother. She was extremely jealous of Sara, not only because she was very beautiful.. But because I had chosen Sara over her to be my wife." Aaron wished he could look down, but he didn't dare to look away from his daughter.
"Anastasia was constantly making advances toward me. But when I refused her she became very angry and got married to Eric in hopes that I'd be jealous. After your mother and I married, it was only a few short months later that we found out she was to have a child. Not to long before that, Anastasia also became pregnant but insisted it was mine, hoping Sara would leave me. When that didn't work, she went on to try and tarnish Eric and I's relationship. Constantly saying I was making advances to her, trying to convince her to leave Eric. After that, I heard Eric had left Anastasia because of her actions. Then Glass was born, and Anastasia apologized to Sara and I saying she was a fool for acting the way she did, and that she was going to try and mend her relationship with Eric. Not long after that.. On the day your mother went into labor with you, Anastasia insisted on being there to support Sara as I was caught up in Idris and couldn't make it to the birth. So, she took Sara to the Seelie Court.. But before Sara gave birth.. Anastasia poisoned her. But your Mother.. She wasn't the type to roll over and die so easily. She managed to give birth to you.. But after that her body just didn't have any strength left and she just.." Aaron took a deep breath, running his hand through his hair.
"When I got there it was too late, they wouldn't even let me see you. They said you had to be taken to the Academy straight away. Not long after that I got the offer from the Silent Brothers.. And that's that." He finished, leaning back in his chair.
Victoria went through everything he had just said over and over again in her mind, trying to process it all. Part of her wanted to cry, but the other part of her wanted to rip Anastasia's throat out. She closed her eyes for a moment, once again going through every detail of what Aaron had told her.
"Wait- so where were you when this happened?" Victoria spoke up, looking to Eric.
"Well.. After I left Anastasia, I went back to Idris to stay with my family. Then Aaron and I ran into each other the day Victoria was born.. I tried to help him with his business there so that he could get to the Seelie Court to be with Sara.. I couldn't believe it when I heard she was dead... And to find out Anastasia had done it was just.. Too much for any of us to bare.. Knowing we had all been so blind to get played into her games." Eric replied.
Glass sat next to her parabatai, glaring at nothing in particular. She didn't understand why Eric had left her to be alone, thinking she would never have a family. Victoria laced their fingers together, hoping to provide comfort for both of them.
"So Anastasia is a lying bitch. What else is new? I figured that out the moment I saw her," Glass was forcing her tone to be neutral. She wanted to yell at the two men for being irresponsible fucks who needed to get their lives in order. She took a deep breath to keep herself calm.
"She's a better liar than you assume," Eric spoke softly. Glass glared at him and if looks could kill Eric would be six feet under. Victoria squeezed her hand but Glass ignored her.
"So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you had no idea where I was, but you assumed I was with her, therefore you didn't even bother looking for me," Glass had her intense gaze on Eric the entire time.
"I did look for you," Eric whispered.
"Bullshit," Glass told him. Her voice still tightly in control, but with a slight edge to it now. "If you had looked for me you would have found me. I was dropped off on the footsteps of a random Shadowhunters house in Idris. After that they turned me over to the Clave. If you had tried, you would have found me, but the truth is you didn't want to find me because you were afraid. You were young, powerful, the world at your feet. You didn't want a child. You had no idea how to raise one, so you let the Clave handle it," she knew by the look on his face that there was more to the story.
"You don't understand," Eric told her. "Everything is much more complicated than that. I trailed Anastasia for years, hoping to make her pay for the things she had done to my parabatai. Do you know what she told me?" Eric paused a look of grief on his face, "She said she had killed you, that you were a nuisance in her life and she only had a child to make Sara believe Aaron was unfaithful. When her plan backfired she said she tossed you into a river, knowing you would drown. She laughed at the hurt look on my face and called me weak. Up until a week ago I believed you to be dead," Eric looked to his hands. A guilty expression crossing his features for a moment.
"You're not telling me everything," Glass said in a demanding tone.
"Some things are better left unsaid," he told her and she glared at him again.
"Perhaps," The blonde stood. She shook her head and began walking toward the door. She felt her ear twitch at the sound of footsteps coming up behind her. She exited the room to see Will leaning against the wall adjacent to the door.
"Have fun?" He asked at the obviously agitated look on her face. She glared at him and he frowned. "Is everything okay?" He asked stepping in front of her. She shook her head and hurried around him. Running for the attic. She need a place where she could calm herself. Scream even.
After Glass and Eric had left, Victoria yet again found herself alone with Aaron. Who was not only there, but he wasn't a Silent Brother anymore. So many things were rushing through Victoria's mind, most that she couldn't believe how alike the two of them looked. Both with the same sharp facial structure and bright green eyes.
"Well.. I must say I'm a bit surprised. You let me explain without storming out or arguing." Aaron said, kind of relaxing now.
Victoria started to shoot him a glare but stopped herself. "You have no idea how surprising it is." Victoria said, biting her lip afterwards to try and stop herself from saying anything else.
"Seems I've gotten better with my will not to wanna see you writhing on the floor in pain." Victoria said, knowing that even if she had self control she wouldn't have let that slide from anyone, and most certainly not from him.
"You do have a point there." Aaron replied.
"Victoria, I really hope you'll forgive me." He spoke again.
Victoria raised her head up to lock eyes with him. "I forgave you a long time ago." She said shortly.
"But right now, I don't have time for a big Father Daughter Hallmark moment. I have a war that needs to be fought." Victoria stood up, walking to the door.
"I want to help you." Aaron stood up as well, taking a step toward Victoria.
"Then save the mushing crap and start getting ready." Victoria didn't look back at him, instead she opened the door and walked out.
As the door closed behind her Victoria could feel a pain in her chest, knowing she could have been a bit more compassionate toward Aaron. But she still didn't let it distract her from the task that she had awaiting in the very near feature.
Victoria was making her way back to her room when she saw Henry coming down the hallway toward her. Scared of being questioned she started to make a sharp turn toward the training room.
"Now where do you think you're going?" Henry asked, causing Victoria to stop dead in her tracks.
"I'm going to train.." She answered, turning back to him.
"I see. Well it seems you need a little more practice on your lying, Victoria." Henry smirked.
Victoria started to argue but felt it'd just be useless against Henry.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked softly.
"I can't.. I've spent too much time with this already. I have things I need to do." Victoria replied before continuing her walk down the hallway.
Glass climbed the ladder and hurried over to the window where she had fainted. She needed to be higher, feeling the cold air around her. She pushed the window open stepped onto the two inches of ledge she had been granted. She slowly moved toward the inner slope of the roof. She pulled herself up, knowing she would be alone until she came down. She looked at London moving around her, wondering how it must have looked in the 1800s. How beautiful it must have been.
"Glass?" A voice called. She had expected Victoria or Will, but this voice belonged to Eric. She hugged her knees and ignored him. She heard a grunt as he climbed out the window. She let out a sigh as he pulled himself onto the roof.
"I came up here to be away from you," Glass sighed.
"Anastasia did the same thing. When she was frustrated, angry, sad, overwhelmed, she would flee to the highest place she could find. Even resorted to scaling a tree one time," he chuckled, he fell silent when she wouldn't answer him.
"What could you not say in front of Aaron?" Glass asked and Eric sighed.
"I was still unconvinced that you were my daughter. At least until I saw you glare at Victoria in annoyance. The same look you gave me when I came up here. Aaron used to make fun of me for it," Eric smiled at the memory.
"You knew I was yours, because of a facial expression," Glass asked incredulously. Eric nodded and Glass laughed.
"Now that I've found you, I plan to make it count. I won't expect you to call me Dad or Father, Eric works just fine, but I would like to get to know my daughter as the woman she has become," Eric was staring at a church steeple in the distance.
"There's not much to know. I'm a Shadowhunter," She told him as if that explained everything.
"What has happened in your life?" He asked leaning back on his elbows to gaze at the grey sky above them.
"I went to the Academy until I got kicked out then Victoria and I were split up. She was sent here to London and I was in New York. She was recently sent to New York where we were reunited and we haven't been apart since," Glass told him.
"They split you two up? But you're parabatai. They aren't allowed to do that," Eric stated and Glass shrugged.
"It happened," she stated defeated.
"Why were you two kicked out?" He asked. Glass swallowed the lump in her throat.
"We kept getting into fights with other students, Aldertree gave us a last warning but Victoria is uncontrollable when she's angry," Glass told him, her heart racing in her chest. She didn't want to talk about the Academy. It wasn't going to help to talk about the past. Glass sighed and shook her head.
"Something is bothering you," he stated.
"It's nothing," She told him as she raked a hand through her blonde locks. He nodded, not questioning her.
"We should go into London. See the sights, get some lunch. Hm?" He asked with a smile. Glass couldn't help but smile back as she nodded her head.
"Yeah, I'd like that,"
They climbed from the roof, Glass didn't seem to to notice the extreme height they were at until Eric swallowed thickly as he looked to the ground. Glass smirked and pulled herself in the window. Will was standing in the center of the room. An expectant look on his face. Glass rolled her eyes.
"You shouldn't be pushing yourself. Are you forgetting that you passed out from blood loss a few hours ago?" Will asked her, worried about her safety.
"I'm well aware of my health by you forgot that I am, in fact, half a werewolf. Now Eric and I are going out to lunch. If you will excuse me I need to go get ready," She told the boy before her. He was about to protest when she left both of them in the attic.
She hurried to Tori's room. She wasn't there. Glass hurried to the bathroom and took a quick shower, making sure to be rid of all the dried blood on her scalp. She turned to Victoria's closet and pulled on a long sleeve, black, cotton shirt and a pair of dark skinny jeans. She rummaged through her wardrobe before finding a beanie. She tucked her ears under it and shoved her feet in her boots. She walked to the Library where she found her father waiting for her. They walked to the parlor where Glass pulled on her black hunting jacket. Eric smiled at her and they descended the steps onto the London streets.
They walked for some time before Glass saw a restaurant reminding her of Taki's. A man was standing near the door, his skin was a glimmering blue that only brought attention to his lime green spikes. Glass smiled at him before letting Eric open the door for her. They took a booth near the window and waited for their waitress.
"What can I get you to drink?" The forest nymph asked. Her dark green hair was in a delicate swirling bun atop her head.
"Coffee," Glass and Eric stated at the same time and the waitress laughed. She nodded and sat two menus on the table. She left them only to return a moment later with their coffee.
"Ready?" She asked and Glass nodded.
"Steak, Medium-rare" she told her and the waitress nodded. Eric ordered some French dish and the waitress left with their order.
"Enjoying London?" Eric asked and Glass nodded.
"It's beautiful here, but it's not New York," Glass smiled.
"And nothing compared to Idris," Eric told her with a smile.
"True," Glass smiled.
"Speaking of Idris, I'm sure you miss it there," Eric began, "I have a home just outside of Alicante. You should come back with me, I could teach you all those things that the Academy neglected. We could find you a mentor to help you understand what will happen when these changes The King talked about happen. I can help you if you come back with me, if even for a few months I could teach you everything you need," Eric was speaking confidently. Glass suddenly lost her appetite.
"You expect me to leave? There is going to be a war, one that Tori and I are expected to lead and you expect me to go to Idris with you to train?" Glass was suddenly angry. She couldn't leave. She had Victoria, Jace, Alec, Izzy, Jem and Will. She has to make sure this war was won.
"No. I just thought it was an idea that you would approve of. Getting to know me more," he stated seeming hurt.
"That's what we were doing but I can't leave. I have responsibilities here and that means something to me," she glared at him before getting up and storming onto the street.
She didn't know where she was going but her feet were carrying her toward the Thames. She didn't know why but she was standing still staring at the swirling waters. People were passing her without a second glance. She stood there for a long time, her thoughts just as jumbled as the water before her.
She sighed wishing Eric would leave and not be apart of this. She didn't need him here. She did better on her own, if you care for people you only end up getting hurt. Glass sighed heavily but felt panic building in her chest. This had to be from Tori worrying about her.
She finally turned from the water and began walking back to the Institute. When she saw the spire come into view she let out a heavy sigh. She opened the door to an empty hallway. Glass hurried down the hallway and disappeared into an unused room.
She stripped off her jacket, boots and the beanie before going to the bathroom to wash her face. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror for the first time since her ears had appeared. Her hair was at least three shades lighter, bordering on platinum. Silver ears were situated on her head, twitching slightly as she focused on them.
Glass made her way to go meet with everyone else. She'd be lectured by someone, probably Izzy, and be told that she needed to take it easy.
The Library had become the meeting room and when Glass walked in she felt the tension lift from her chest.
"Where were you?" Izzy asked exasperated.
"Out," Glass said with finality.
"You need to be careful," Jem piped in.
"I'm fine," She glared.
"You sure?" Jace asked, not fooled by her.
"Physically yes but if you keep interrogating me; my sanity will be questionable," Glass stated. She looked around the room and found Will was intensely reading a thick leather bound book.
"Everything will be okay," Alec spoke, somehow knowing what was going through her mind. This made her replay images in her mind. Things she didn't want to remember.
"Fuck all of you," Glass shook her head.
"What?" It was Eric now. Glass turned and glared at him.
"Fuck you," she said, power in her voice now, "Fuck all of you," she stated before turning. She fled from the Library. She heard footsteps behind but turned a corner quickly. She found the door she was looking for.
Glass fell onto the bed in the room she had claimed. She needed space. She didn't want to think, didn't want to be plagued by the thoughts going through her mind. A knock on the door made her look up with a glare.
"What?" She glared as the door opened. Isabelle stood in the door way, a concerned look etched on her face.
"Glass. I just wanted to see if you're okay. I know everything is hard to take in and-"
"No you don't Izzy. You have no idea how hard it is for my father to walk through the door and tell me he's sorry because my Mother was a whore and attempted to sleep with Tori's dad. You have no idea how hard it is for me to be so used to being alone, to have the only person I trusted taken away from me, to find her again and now my Father wants me to go to train with him? You have no idea how hard that is!" By the end of her rant she was screaming at Izzy. She was breathing hard, fury evident in her expression. "I just want to be alone," she spoke quietly now. She had never really yelled at anyone. This outburst scared Izzy more than she would admit. The brunette turned without a word and left her alone.
Glass sank to her knees and leaned forward, tears falling from her eyes. She hated crying but now she needed a release. She needed something, anything, to help her let this go.
For a moment she felt bad for the way she was treating everyone. She pushed the guilt away and took a deep breath. She was searching for the calm she prided herself on. She felt as if her chest was on fire. She couldn't breath now. She was gasping for each breath. She needed to calm down.
She was safe. She was in a place where no one would hurt her. She was safe.
She repeated the words in her head over and over again. Her eyes were squeezed shut, heart thrumming in her ears.
"I can't do this," she told herself as she lay on the floor curled in a ball. Her chest throbbing from lack of oxygen. Her sides began to ache, her head pounding. Glass felt like she was about to explode.
She didn't hear the door open. She didn't hear the footsteps coming toward her. She only became aware of the other person in the room when they moved her into a sitting position.
"I can't do this," she repeated in a hushed whisper before another wave of pain hit her. Her vision was spotting as she looked up at Will.
"Glass. Listen to me. You're having a panic attack. You're okay," he told her as he sat on the floor next to her. She placed her forehead on her knees. The fire in her chest was leveling out to bearable.
"I can't do this," she repeated.
"Hush. Breathe. Listen to me. You're okay. You're safe" he repeated this like a mantra as he rubbed small circles on her shoulder with his thumb.
She focused on Will, sitting beside her. His breaths coming deep and even. She began to calm after ten minutes. She felt the fire in her chest leave her. After a few minutes her breathing returned to normal. When Will was sure she was okay he smiled.
"I'm sorry," she whispered.
"For what?" He asked quietly.
"This. You taking care of me after everything. I just can't let people in. I can't do this" she told him and he sighed.
"You let me in. Then you shut me out. Whatever you're afraid of doesn't matter. I'd never hurt you," he told her. She placed her head on his shoulder.
"The things that have happened to me.." She paused trying to get her thoughts straight "they've changed me. Fucked me up. Broke me. I can't," she caught herself as he wrapped an arm around her waist.
"What happened to you," he asked. His voice cracking slightly.
After a long moment she took a deep breath and swallowed her fears. "It was a few days before my birthday at the Academy," she took a deep breath before continuing. "I got a note telling me that someone had a gift for me and I was to meet them" she took another ragged breath "in the training room at midnight. I used go to the training room at midnight to watch the moon and the stars change anyways. I thought about not going but my curiosity got the best of me. I went. Arcius Midwinter was the one who sent me the note. He was two years above me. Top of his class and in line for a spot on the Council. He didn't have a gift for me," she took another deep breath, the night playing over in her mind. She felt Will's arms tightening around her. "The next day he told everyone he had gotten in my pants and that I liked it. I told Tori he attempted to rape me, but the truth is he succeeded. That's-" she felt her voice catching, "that's why we were kicked out of the Academy. Tori almost killed him. Tried to rip his throat out but when she explained no one would listen," She felt Will pulling her closer to him. She raised her head to look at him. She needed to see his reaction.
He wasn't looking at her but staring at the wall. His cheeks were wet and his jaw clenched tight. She reached up and gently wiped his cheek with her thumb.
"I'll kill him. I'll kill him and make sure he never hurts anyone again," Will's tone was dangerous.
"You're the first person I've told. The first person I've trust enough to give the entire truth to," Glass looked at her hands and felt as if a weight had been lifted from her chest. She felt him kiss her forehead and closed her eyes. After several long moments Will took a deep breath startling her.
"I killed my sister," Will told her quietly. "I released a demon from a Pyxis and it killed her. It was all my fault. My father told me that I was fully responsible. I left them and came here. I still feel guilty everyday. She'll never have children. Never find love. She's dead and it's all my fault," he told her and she laid her head on his shoulder.
"Your father lied to you. It wasn't your fault. He just needed someone to blame because he couldn't protect her," she murmured. Slowly her arms wrapped around his neck. She could feel him smile against her temple.
"We all have our secrets," he whispered, "it's just a matter of finding out who to trust with the truth," he lifted her chin so that they were staring into each others eyes. She felt her stomach flutter, her heart pounding with both fear and anticipation. His fingers rose, brushing her bangs behind her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as if he was asking for permission.
"Will," she barely felt his name leave her lips.
"Yes?" He whispered, waiting for the rejection. Their foreheads were touching now, breaths mixing in the little space between them.
"Kiss me," she made sure her voice was steady. He smiled at the request, leaning down to gently press they're lips together. They kissed, wrapping their limbs around each other, Will pulled her into his lap. He held onto her tightly, not wanting to let go. When they released each others lips they pressed their foreheads together. Neither wanted to move and neither of them spoke.
"Will!" Jem called as he knocked on the door. Will let out a sigh that brushed her cheeks.
"Go away," Will called back, not moving from where they were on the floor.
"We're leaving for Idris in the morning. Be ready by nine," Jem called back before they heard his footsteps retreating.
Glass sighed nuzzling her face into his neck. She didn't want to move and she knew Will wouldn't ask her to. To Glass this was something new that she had never thought would exist for her. She felt his arms loosen ever so slightly.
"Don't let go," she whispered her plea and he smiled as he kissed her cheek.
"Never," he whispered back. Glass fell asleep leaning against him that night.
Victoria stayed in the training room all night. Brushing up on anything she could to keep from having to see or talk to anyone. By the time morning came Victoria had worn herself down enough to finally give her body a break, even though she still didn't want to talk to anyone. She exited the training room and went back to her bedroom, only to quickly grab a change of clothes before heading to the bathroom. She stripped down, turning the hot water on and stepping under the stream of the shower. She stood there for a moment, holding her breath while the water rained down over her. Slowly she felt her muscles in her arms and back finally relax, a feeling that was most satisfying after so many hours of training.
She awoke hoping last night had not been a dream. She wasn't on the floor but instead in the bed. Will was laying beside her, his face calm and serene, arms wrapped around her waist tightly, their legs tangled beneath the covers. Will had taken his shirt off at some point in the night after she fell asleep. Gently she traced the hard lines of his muscled arms, the swell of his biceps and defined neck before gently caressing his cheek. He opened his eyes with momentary confusion before she pressed her lips to his. This seemed to snap him back to reality. Will kissed her back, his hands running up her sides and down her arms to lace their fingers together.
"We should be getting up," Will murmured. Glass groaned felt his arms wrap around her. "I said should. Not that we will," He kissed her cheek and Glass smiled.
"We have that meeting with the Council," Glass stated as her face fell. She ran a hand through her hair as she sat up.
"You'll do fine. If anyone can persuade them to be on our side it's you," Will kissed her shoulder.
"Hn," she pushed the heels of her hands against her eyes.
"Come on," He rose from the bed and held his hand out to her. She looked at it for a moment before taking it. He pulled her from the bed and into his arms with a smile before pecking her lips. "I have to go get ready," He said nodding toward the door. Glass nodded and kissed his cheek. Will shrugged his shirt on before exiting the room.
After bathing, Victoria got dressed and heading back down to the kitchen. No one was up yet, which Victoria was very thankful for. Victoria made tea and took it into the library where she sat down in one of the large arm chairs and grabbed whatever book was sitting close to her and began reading as she sipped on her tea. But as usual her peaceful morning ended with the sound of footsteps coming toward the Library. Thinking quickly, Victoria got to her feet and darted down into one of many long isles.
"As big as this place is you'd think a girl could find one place to be all alone." Victoria whispered, sitting down on the floor.
"Victoria? The others are about to leave for Idris. I know you're back there." It was Henry's voice that spoke up.
Victoria shrugged and walked out from behind the large bookshelves shooting a rather annoyed look toward Henry, who only grinned at her. She let out a sigh and walked out of the library, rushing back to her room where she grabbed her long leather trench coat from her closet and slipped it on. Under that she had on a black button up and skinny jeans paired with black combat boots. Her hair was messy as usual, coming down almost covering her vivid green eyes. She quickly exited the room and found her way into the Sanctuary, finding that her group of friends had already arrived and were ready to go. Victoria said nothing, just look straight ahead as they headed through the portal.
Victoria never liked coming to Idris, mostly because whenever she did, much like this trip, there was a lot of stressful things to deal with. Victoria kept her composure as they entered the large building where they'd be meeting with the Clave, whom Victoria at this point had a lot of ill feelings toward.
The group of young shadowhunters entered the Council room. A few dirty looks shot toward Glass and Victoria but they just kept their focus on what they were there for.
"Please state-" Before anything could be said Victoria spoke up. "I think it'd be best if you just explain right now why the hell you didn't tell us about the prophecy." Victoria's voice was cold, the purple in her hair slowly fading out into silver at the ends.
"We didn't think it'd be wise to speak of it with you while you were so young. We had planned to wait until you were of a proper age to handle the situation." A Council member spoke up.
"Right, because that's worked out so well." Glass spat.
"We know exactly why you didn't tell us. Because you were scared, because you are just a bunch of cowards that don't want to deal with anything you don't have to." Victoria spoke up.
"Well now you have no choice but to deal with this.. So what are you going to do? Are you going to continue being cowards? Or are you going to step up and stop running away from your problems?" Victoria's expression was hard, her hands where curled up in tight fists.
"I don't think you quite understand the danger in this, Victoria. You're talking about a war." Another council member added in.
"I'm not asking you to help fight MY war. I'm asking you to help fight the war you've spent so long trying to keep from happening. A war that you all knew would happen sooner or later. And I'm not going to stand in this room and argue with you when there are enemies out there ready to strike." Victoria's roared loudly.
Victoria knew she couldn't stay any longer. Without another word she turned around, pushing through her friends to the door and left. She stalked out of the building, not looking back to see if anyone had come to stop her.
Glass watched Victoria exit dramatically. She gave Jace a narrowed expression for him to follow.
"Now that you've pissed her off, let's talk business," She spoke, her voice carrying through the large room and echoing off the walls. "You will send Shadowhunters when we call if you hope to win this. If They win we will be killed, victims of genocide," Glass barely noticed a few more Council members walking in. "If you people give a damn about Idris, Alicante, the Accords or the Nephilium race as a whole then you will aide us. The consequences for-" Glass swallowed hard as she noticed one o the council members smirking at her. Arcius Midwinter sat amongst them. "The consequences for denying us will end up in thousand of innocent deaths when the war spreads to your borders. And if you deny us, then we will not come to your aide. And if you deny us then you WILL call and we will deny you," Glass glared at them. Her ears showed aggression. After a long moment she turned, the entire group following after her when the Council was silent.
They descended the marble steps and Glass took a deep breath. Someone would come to retrieve them after the Council deliberated. Glass took a deep breath while turning her face to the sky. A warm breeze blew her hair back a she heard the door to the building open.
"Looks like the Bitch has returned," she heard him say. She didn't have to look. She knew who it was.
"I guess the Council really does let just anyone in their ranks," Glass glared. She could sense Will standing behind her.
"We were very impressed by the speech in there. But I wouldn't help a Downworlder like you. All anger and fury. No finesse," He smiled down at her, it twisted her stomach.
"I'll show you finesse when I rip out your beating heart and show it to you before you die," she growled. Will knew then who was standing in front of him. Arcius went to grab her arm but Will pulled her behind him first.
Worried someone might come after her, she turned a corner down into an alley. Slowing her pace down before falling against the brick wall to her right. She took a deep breath, holding it for a moment before letting it huff out slowly, making her chest sink.
"Tori..?" Victoria was expecting Jem or Glass but the gaze she came to meet as she raised her head to tell whoever was standing there to leave was that of Jace.
She started to tell him off but somehow the words wouldn't come out. Instead she lowered herself onto the ground and leaned back against the wall.
"You were amazing back there.." Jace said quietly as he sat down on front of her.
"I lost control.. Why do I always let my stupid temper get the best of me..?" Victoria whispered.
"You didn't lose control. You said what you meant and you were passionate about it.. You're far braver than any Shadowhunter I have met.. You're certainly braver than any of those in the Council." Jace slowly put his hand over hers. It reminded Victoria of the night he had stayed with her while she hid, much like she was now.
"Jace.." Victoria looked up, meeting his golden eyes once again.
He didn't utter a single word, instead he gripped her hard tightly and gently pulled her toward him until her small frame was pressed firmly up against him. Victoria submitted to him, knowing it'd be useless to try and pull away and be aide she didn't want to. Slowly Jace moved his arms down to wrap around her waist, pulling her even tighter to him and leaned down, letting his lips connect with hers.
It didn't last very long in reality, but to the two of them it seemed like a lifetime. As there mouths parted there eyes stayed dead set on one another. Silently yet heavy breaths coming from Jace as he reluctantly released Victoria from his grasp. Even though his arms had released her, Victoria held her position against him but finally fell back against the wall as she let go of a breath she had been holding unknowingly.
"Looks like you finally got what you wanted.." Victoria smirked.
Jace's face flushed a peachy pink color as he cleared his throat, running a hand through his blond hair.
"It seems I did, didn't I?" He replied coolly.
"Was it worth the wait..?" She asked almost in a whisper.
"I don't think it could have been any more perfect." He said, his passionate expression causing Victoria to be the one to blush now.
"We'd better be getting back to the others now." Victoria said as she stood up straight, straightening her shirt.
Jace stood up, starting to make his way out of the alley. Before he could get out onto the main street Victoria pulled him back and kissed him one more time before she stepped away and walked out of the alley. Jace caught up to her and walked beside her as they made their way back to their group.
"Don't touch her," Will glared at Arcius just as Victoria came around a corner. Glass held her breath and waited for Arcius to abandon them.
Victoria and Jace returned to their friends, only to see that Glass was being restrained by Will. Victoria being not in the mood, grabbed Glass by the arm and started pulling her in the opposite direction of the conflict. Glass at time tried to pull her arm away but Victoria held her grip tighter every time she attempted to pull away. Victoria stopped walking once they were a safe distance away from everyone and turned to Glass.
"So what happened?" She questioned instantly.
"I made it short, sweet, and straight to the point." Glass replied.
Victoria nodded and propped herself against the wall.
"Are you okay..?" Glass muttered.
Victoria narrowed her eyes at Glass. "I'll be okay.." She said.
The two said nothing to each other. Victoria paced back and forth while Glass sat against the wall. After what seemed like forever, they were called back in to see what the council had decided. The group stood once again in the centered of the room, surrounded by council members.
"So?" Victoria crossed her arms, starring down Aldertree with a death glare.
"We are denying your request." Aldertree said, not looking back into the faeries eyes.
Victoria started to argue, but knew it was useless. Instead she took a deep breath and headed back toward the door, but before she exited the room she turned back toward the Council members and smiled.
"I almost forgot.. The UnSeelie Court is now on our side." Victoria said, looking right at Aldertree.
Even though she was now quite a ways away from him, she could still see the fearful and nervous look on his face. Victoria had always suspected him of being involved but could never come up with any sort of proof. No one said anything, so Victoria turned and left the room. Once outside, she sat down on the steps and looking up at the sky. Suddenly she heard the door open, thinking it was her friends she turned around to look up at them. But instead she saw Aldertree but thankfully he didn't notice her.
Quickly she got up, putting her hood up and followed him down the street. She stayed a safe distance behind the shorter man but not far enough to where she'd lose him. After a few minutes of walking he made a sharp turn into an alley, as Victoria watched him she knew she wouldn't be able to follow him now without him finding out. As Victoria looks for a different way, her eyes land on a ladder that was leading up to the roof of the small building. The faerie walked up to it and started to climb, making quick work of it. Once at top, Victoria took walked on the edge of the building to see if she'd lost him. But she hadn't. Down at the end of the alley stood Aldertree, only now he was with someone. Unfortunately she couldn't make out who it was because they had their hood up.
Victoria leaned over the edge of the building, listening in closely to their conversation.
"What did you find out?" The hooded figured asked.
"They have the UnSeelie Court in their corner." Aldertree replied.
"What?!" The hooded figured sounded rather angry to have found this out. "How did this happen?" They demanded.
"I don't know.." Aldertree mumbled.
They both let out a deep sigh, pacing around the alley.
"How could you let this happen? The Queen was suppose to convince Victoria to join us." The figure spoke again.
"It didn't work.. We should have known it wouldn't. That faerie is stubborn and won't just betray her friends so easily." Aldertree replied.
"Yes, I know.. Nor her or Glass either one will leave their friends." The other now sounded like they were deep in thought.
"Well.. I suppose we'll just have to find another way." Aldertree said.
"Well of course we will you fool!" The other slightly raised their voice.
"Well it's not going to be as easy to get them apart as it was at the Academy." Aldertree crossed his arms over his chest.
"Well that's because they aren't IN the academy anymore. We can't get one of them raped to get the other to try and murder someone anymore." The hooded figure sounded frustrated.
There it was, The answer Victoria had been looking for for years. She would have liked to stay and listen to the rest of this- Actually she would have liked to jump down and slaughtered the both of them. But she knew her friends would be looking for her. She got up and climbed back down and began running back in the direction she came, making sure no one saw her.
Soon she ran almost literally into Glass, who Victoria guessed had come to find her.
"Whoa whoa whoa! Tori what are you running from." Glass asked, getting her balance back as well as helping Victoria with hers.
"I'm not running from anything but I do have something to tell you." Victoria bit her lip, almost worried about Glass's reaction to what she found out. But she knew she could never keep this from her even if she wanted to.
"Well? What is it?" Glass asked, almost sounding worried herself.
"First of all, Aldertree has been in on it all along. I just saw him having a rather interesting conversation with some hooded person.. My bet was it was your mom.." Victoria said in a blunt tone.
Victoria could see anger growing in Glass's expression, "What did they say?" Glass questioned.
"Well.. Among other things I found out that what's his face Raped you for a reason.. Aldertree knew I wouldn't be able to stop myself from ripping him apart.. It was all just a reason to kick us out.. Keep us apart.." Victoria felt her stomach turn with each word that came from her mouth.
Glass stood there for a moment, Victoria unsure if she was about to set fire to the world or break down and sob. Instead she did neither, she simply took a breath and looked to the Faerie, "Well their plan failed.. Because we aren't apart." Glass grabbed Victoria's hand, squeezing tightly.
Victoria could only nod, knowing good and well if she said anything she'd tear up herself. It was bad enough knowing her best friend had been taken advantage of in such a humiliating way, but now it was all a plan set by Aldertree and Glass's mother. The thought alone that Glass's Mother would intentionally allow that to happen made Victoria's blood boil.
Glass let Victoria lead her back to the others, her mind whirling with this new information.
How could someone be so vile? Not her mother, but Aldertree. He was sworn to protect the Nephilim. What could Anastasia possibly give him that would justify that? He was a corrupt man who needed to be removed, they would never get the help they desired from the Council if he was in power.
Victoria stopped ahead of her but Glass bumped into her, jolting her from her thoughts. Will's concerned gaze made her look away from him and return to her thoughts.
Glass had never felt more betrayed. Why would her mother do this to her? To try to break her? To remove Victoria from her life? But at what cost? Was it even worth it, because they were together now. Nothing would rip them apart again.
Suddenly anger swelled in Glass' chest. The fire burning white hot in her veins. In the attic she had felt angry, but not this intense inferno inside her, threatening to burst free and cause chaos.
Glass took a deep breath as she closed her eyes and turned away from the group. She heard footsteps nearing her but raised her hand to stop the person from touching her.
"Give me a minute," Glass shot a look at Tori who nodded discreetly. Glass headed for the alleyway that Jace and Victoria had emerged from. She leaned against the wall, her breathing hastened. The hellfire growing in her chest expanded from head to toe. She felt the warmth of this anger and tried to cool it with the air around her. The blaze ceased for only a moment before immense pain replaced it. Glass bit her lip from crying out in surprise and agony. Glass felt the waves of this torture welling inside her, so thick she was sure if she could open her eyes or move that it would be tangible and concrete.
"Glass?" She heard a voice, she couldn't tell who it was or even if the voice was male or female.
"I said give me a minute," Glass snarled through the pain, her voice expressing her rage. She wasn't sure if they retreated or not but no one touched her or came near.
The torturous wave crashed down again and Glass curled in on her self. The ground seemed comforting at the moment. She hugged her knees to her chest, eyes shut as she tried to block out the pain. She felt a sharp pain in her spine, as if someone had driven a knife into it. For a moment she was tempted to see if Aldertree had snuck up on her, but the thought escaped her as her spine twitched ever so slightly before elongating. Unlike when her ears freed themselves, she knew exactly what was happening. Her tail burst from her skin and ripped through her pants. No blood. No more pain, but she felt stiff as she rose to her feet. She swayed a bit from clenching her jaw so hard. Glass cast a glance behind her. A silver tail wiggled slightly, apparently happy to be free at last. Glass took a minute to clear her head before braving her friends again.
After leading Glass back to the others, Victoria walked over to Jace. She could tell the serious look on her face made him nervous.
"Aldertree has to go." Victoria's tone was cold and hateful.
"Why?" Jace asked.
"Because he's involved. We'll never get any help as long as he has authority." Victoria said, making clear she meant business.
Jace nodded, "We'll think of something.." He spoke shortly, trying not to anger her further.
The two returned to the group and find that Glass is developing more. Victoria walked with Glass to the Lightwood home where they'd be staying the night. Once inside the group gathered in the dining room, sitting around the table.
"So.. What do we do now..?" Gabriel asked.
Victoria sat at one end, her head down on the table. Deep in thought, she tunes the conversation out for a moment to gather herself. After a few moments she sits up straight and clears her throat, looking around the room.
"We.. we're going to get rid of Aldertree." Victoria couldn't think of any other way to put it so she just said it. Everyone but Jace and Glass looked at Victoria with wide eyes and jaws on the floor.
"We're going to WHAT?" Izzy squeaked out.
"Earlier today I followed him.. He's been involved since Glass and I were at the Academy. And as long as he has a say in what the Clave does we'll never get any help." Victoria spoke bluntly.
Everyone shared a glance in agreement, knowing the last part was completely true. Victoria stood up, looking around the room. She looked across the table to Glass who looked ready to go right then. The two locked eyes and it seemed as though they were talking without using words, exchanging thoughts between the two. Victoria looked away and bit her lip, ready to plan this out.
"Okay here's the plan.. I'm pretty sure you already guessed we've gotta sneak in to make this happen. I'm sure he'll be expecting something so there will be guards, not to mention he's a coward so he'll more than likely be hiding somewhere." Victoria said. "I don't know if Anastasia will be there or not but if she is we might have to deal with that too." She continued.
"When are we doing this?" Gideon asked.
"Tonight." Glass spoke up.
Victoria grinned, knowing her blood lust was about to be satisfied.
Glass was silent through Tori's little speech. Her body humming with the promise of violence. Will gave her another concerned glance. All emotion was wiped from her face, a stone mask taking its place. He furrowed his eyebrows as she stood from the table. Victoria nodded at her, their agreement that justice would be served. She made her way to the room she had been gifted with, her tail twitched at the end, giving away her secret pleasure of what was to come. There was a knock at her door and she sighed. She opened the door to reveal Will standing on the other side of the door. He rose an eyebrow and Glass opened the door to let him into the room.
"There is something you two are keeping from everyone," Will told her and Glass nodded.
"Yes there is," Glass agreed. Will looked wide eyed, as if he couldn't believe what he had just heard.
"What's going on?" Will asked her. His voice low, confused.
"Justice," Glass told him and he looked even more confused.
"Glass talk to me," He begged, "What the fuck is going on?" He questioned. Glass swallowed harshly.
"My mother manipulated Aldertree into having Arcius rape me so that he could split Tori and I up," Her voice was low, almost as if she had growled. She chanced looking at Will and saw her own rage reflected.
"Glass-" Will began but she cut him off.
"Stay away from me tonight. If I get into a fight. I'll handle it. Keep yourself safe," Glass commanded. Will was about to protest but Glass gave him a warning look. He shouldn't test her patience today.
Will took a step forward and enveloped her in a hug. She let him, nuzzling her face in the crook of his neck. "I will not lose you tonight," he stated in her ear. She nodded and hugged him tighter.
It was now time to leave. Everyone was geared up and ready, knowing they had one hell of a fight coming. Victoria and Glass where the firs ones to meet at the front door, not speaking to one another but instead focusing hard on the task ahead of them. The rest soon met up with them as well, no one said a word to one another as they exited the house into the dark.
They moved quickly and silently to the Council building where Aldertree's office was. They scaled the marble stairs and stopped once at the doors, pulling out weapons and readying themselves for a fight. Victoria and Glass slowly moved forward, stepping silently in unison toward the large double doors. Once there, each took hold of a door knob and together pulled the doors open. The two of them took a moment to examine their surroundings, making sure it wasn't any sort of trap. When they saw it was all clear and both entered the building, motioning for the others to follow. The group spread out, still being dead silent they moved through the halls. They were about to make a sharp turn but in the dead silence they could all hear a conversation coming from the Council room. Victoria and Glass, staying close to one another still, walked up to the doors seeing that one was slightly cracked enough to hear clearly what they were saying.
"What are you doing here? If you're caught they'll-" It was Aldertree, he was cut off by the sound of another male. Victoria moved and peeked through the door to see Sebastian, but to her own shock she saw that he had Jessamine on his arm. Victoria was instantly consumed with rage, but held it in knowing this wasn't the time.
"You see. We just don't think we need you anymore.. It's obvious Victoria and Glass will come for you at some point and we just don't have room for mess ups like that." Sebastian spoke in a cocky tone.
"Please I-" Aldertree was cut off yet again, this time by Anastasia.
"You've served your purpose well. We're simply.. Cutting you out of future plans." Victoria couldn't see Anastasia's face but she could tell she was smiling.
"I just got word. Someones gotten into the building." Another male voice spoke up, this one was deeper but Victoria couldn't make it out.
"Time to go." Anastasia said and turned toward the door.
Victoria gave the group a wave telling them to fall back, "Glass, go.. I've got this." Victoria whispered.
Glass hesitated but bit her lip, "Be careful." Glass whispered back and squeezed Victoria's hand.
Victoria nodded and Glass finally left her side to join the others. Victoria moved to the side ducking down where she can't be seen. She listened closely and eventually heard the door open and feet walk down the hall causing an echo. When it finally went silent again, Victoria peeked out to see if anyone was there and she found the hall was completely empty. Victoria couldn't help but grin, knowing Aldertree had no where to hide from her now. Victoria stood up and turned the corner into the council room, Aldretree still standing there in shock.
"Oops." Victoria giggled, "Seems we've found ourselves in a situation doesn't it, Aldertree?" The Faerie grinned darkly.
The short man instantly snap out of his daze, by his expression Victoria could tell she was the last person he wanted to see. Aldertree made a run for it, going through a side door into another hallway that lead to his office. Victoria stalked behind, taking her own sweet time just to taunt him.
Victoria busted through the door, her eyes glowing scarlet. Aldertree coward away from the Faerie, standing behind the desk in the center of the office. Victoria stalked toward him, tilting her head to the side as she grinned. Her fangs peeked out over her bottom lip as she edge herself closer to the man.
"Oh how long I've waited for this." Victoria giggled.
"You.. You don't want to do this, Victoria." Aldertree tried to sound tough, but fear was showing ever so obviously through his facial expression.
Victoria laughed loudly, still moving closer and closer until she finally reached the desk.
"I know what you did, Aldertree. I know you got that boy to rape Glass just to make me lash out so you'd have a reason to get rid of us. And all for a lying bitch who has betrayed you, left you to die.. Doesn't seem so worth it now, does it?" Victoria spoke with a snicker, running her nails across the desk.
"She made me. I-it.. It wasn't my fault. Please I beg you. Spare me." Aldertree pleaded to the Faerie.
Glass moved down the hall, hoping to make it to the others before Anastasia caught her. She broke into a sprint, motioning for everyone to hide. As soon as everyone found a spot Glass heard her mother and Sebastian walking toward them while Sebastian dragged Jessamine with them. They were heading for the front steps, their backs to her. The opportunity too great. She pulled a silver dagger from her belt and threw it. Aiming for Anastasia's back, but before the blade could make contact Sebastian's hand plucked it from the air. Glass growled to herself.
"Now Glass. I know you can do better than that," Sebastian taunted. He turned, looking directly at her despite the pitch black shadows surrounding her. She sighed and stepped from her place.
"Victoria and I came here, hoping to only face with Aldertree tonight but you two seem to be painting the town red. I'll say taking you both down by myself will be a challenge, but Victoria will be done in a moment and join us," Glass smiled, her fangs peeking out amongst the rest of her teeth. Her tail swished from side to side behind her. She hopes that everyone understood what she meant. Keep hidden.
Sebastian flicked his wrist and the blade went flying for her, Glass dodged it with a spin, the smile on her face growing.
"Now Sebastian, I know you can do better than that," Glass glared at him with the smile still on her face. He turned as if readying for a fight but Anastasia stopped him.
"You are needed somewhere else. I can handle her," Anastasia told him. He nodded and walked out the door with Jessamine on his arm.
"Now precious daughter. How have you been?" Anastasia asked, the fake smile on her lips feigned sincerity.
"Well let's see. Terrible," Glass glared at her. Anastasia laughed.
"Over dramatic, don't you think," the woman laughed at her. Glass growled.
"There is nothing over dramatic about me being pissed off because my mother is a soulless whore," Glass told her. Anastasia glared at the young Shadowhunter.
"Now listen you little bitch," Anastasia began but Glass smirked.
"Technically I'm an angel. You're the bitch," Glass shrugged her shoulders. Anastasia snarled at her. Glass continued to smile at the woman. After a long moment Glass spoke again, "Cat got your tongue?" She asked, her eyes shining with the eagerness to fight.
"I'll teach you some damn respect, pup," Anastasia made to tackle her but Glass ducked letting her fly over her head. Glass rose to her feet while brushing dust off her pants. Her tail flicked in amusement, only infuriating Anastasia more. Anastasia growled again, lunging for her. Glass tried to dodge again but Anastasia sunk her claws into the material of the Shadowhunter gear. Glass sucked in a breath as they flew backward toward the doors. Glass felt her head collide with the thick wood, causing dots to spot her vision. She could taste blood in her mouth and smiled again. Glass forced herself to her feet while Anastasia smiled. Glass reached forward taking Anastasia's cloak in her fists.
"You think that hurt me?" Glass asked before she threw Anastasia at the door with so much force they gave way, one splintering from the impact and Anastasia rolled down the marble stairs. Glass caught a glimpse at the world outside. Sebastian stood among a few Shadowhunters as well as a select few of Anastasia's wolves.
"Guys. We have a problem," Glass called. She heard them finally emerge from the shadows. Jace cast a glance through the hole, his cocky smile didn't falter.
"Let the party begin," he spoke and Glass smiled.
"I don't see how that's a party," Jem spoke and Glass laughed.
"Stick to a group of two or more. Watch out for your partner," Glass told them and they nodded.
"What about you?" Izzy asked and Glass smiled.
"I got it covered, Iz. No worries," Glass could still taste the blood in her mouth. She opened the door before descending the steps with her group following.
"Now lets see who will win this fight," Sebastian smiled and Glass growled before pulling a blade from her belt.
"You don't stand a chance," Jace taunted and Glass smiled. Always Jace. Jumping into a battle before thinking of a plan. Tori really needed to fix that.
Glass cleared her thoughts and focused on those around her. Her friends and her enemies. Anastasia sighed impatiently.
"What the hell are you waiting for?" She snarled. "Attack," she roared. Her wolves rushed forward, but Sebastian's companions moved slower, biding their time, sizing up the young Shadowhunters. A gray wolf leaped toward Glass, who in turn took her blade, jamming it into the wolf's neck without a second thought.
"Now it's our turn," Glass looked at her mother.
The two women stood ready to lunge. The battle around them. Glass felt blood tricking slowly from the gash near her temple. They began circling slowly.
"You think you stand a chance against me?" Anastasia laughed heartlessly.
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," Glass retorted. Her mother laughed again, throwing her head back as she took a step toward her daughter. Glass took the opening to throw herself into a butterfly kick, Glass felt her boot collide with the softness of Anastasia's cheek.
"Bitch," She sneered showing elongated fangs. Glass smiled, her own fangs present among her pearly whites. Glass lowered herself into a fighting stance as she pulled a dagger from her belt. Anastasia growled and threw herself at her daughter but before Glass could strike Anastasia dropped, kicking Glass' feet out from under her. With her downward momentum she spun, landing on her hands and knees. Rocks were digging into her hands. She rose to her feet, eyes on her mother as she steadied herself. Glass wasn't going to hold back anymore. She threw her knife at Anastasia where it buried itself to the hilt in her leg. The older woman cried out and Glass silenced her with a punch to the throat, hoping to collapse her windpipe. The woman laughed as she pulled the knife free, licking the tip of it, her own blood stained her lips. She threw it back at Glass who spun to avoid it.
"I've had more training than you. You think you can win in hand to hand combat then you have lost your damn mind," Glass smirked as her mother charged her. Anastasia threw a punch to Glass' cheek but Glass ducked, sending her elbow into the elder woman's ribs. Glass followed it by swiping the woman's feet out from under her and kicking her in the stomach.
Anastasia let out a snarl as the change devoured her. The wolf leaped at her, pinning Glass to the ground by her shoulders. Glass barely felt her fingers brush over another dagger in her belt. She swiftly drove it into Anastasia's furry ribs. The wolf howled, giving Glass a chance to free herself. Glass rolled out from under her, getting quickly to her feet. When Anastasia leapt at her with jaws wide open Glass threw her hands up to protect her vitals. Anastasia latched onto her arm, sharp teeth breaking the skin. Glass was about to grab for another dagger when her mother released her. Demons swarmed around Glass cutting her with claws and teeth. When they disappeared Anastasia was gone.
Glass sank to her knees in the dirt, clenching her jaw against the pain of the venom. Glass looked around, seeing the rest of her group was safe. A few seemed cut and bruised but nothing serious. Will was running toward her a look of worry on his face.
When he reached her there was a look of shock plain on his face as he knelt before her. She didn't want to see the damage. He put his hand up to touch her but stopped, not wanting to hurt her. She leaned forward placing her head on his shoulder.
"Are you okay?" He asked cautiously.
"I don't know," she whispered before the darkness devoured her.
Victoria sat on the ground for a minute, starring at the lifeless body before her. Her wings fell around her, positioned as if they were watching also. In the middle of a deep breath she heard footsteps at the doorway. She held the breath there for a moment looking up only to see Jace and Jem, who where standing with their mouths hanging open. Victoria let out the breath and stood up, walking toward the boys.
"I'm assuming it went well?" Jem said trying to lighten the mood.
"You could say that." Victoria smirked.
"What happened with you guys?" Victoria asked, just now seeing they were both covered in fresh blood.
"They came outside.. We were outside.. It just kinda happened." Jace said.
Victoria nodded and stepped past them leaving Aldertree's body to rot for all she cared. The three of them went outside together, finding that Glass had passed out. Victoria had to fight with everything she had to stay calm. Apparently Jace could see this and walked over to her, pulling her into his arms without a word. Victoria wanted to pull away, wanted to be strong, but she even as upset as she was she couldn't resist getting to be close to him. She sunk into his arms, closing her eyes tight as he held her.
"Everything will be fine." Jace's words were soft.
Before Victoria could respond, Jace swept her up off the ground and held her bridal style. She blushed deeply as he began walking with the rest of the group. They headed back to Magnus's home in Idris and Jace carried her inside taking her to one of the many bedrooms.
"I need to check on Glass." Victoria said, starting to try and get out of his grasp but he held her there.
"She's fine. You need to rest, Victoria." Jace's voice was now stern but stil had an undertone of that caring and worry.
"But I-" She started but he cut her off.
"No buts, Tori. I don't care if I have to hold you all night to make sure you don't move. You're going to rest." Jace said, making Victoria blush even more than she had been.
"W..well I think you might just have to do that." She said quietly.
He grinned and sat beside her, pulling off his blood stained shirt. Victoria wasn't the type to get nervous or uncomfortable by the site of a shirtless man, but she had to admit Jace brought out a very nervous streak in her. Victoria kicked off her shoes, then peeled off her jeans and exchanged them for a pair of black pajama pants and a match tank top. Victoria climbed into the rather large, fluffy bed and pulled the midnight blue comforter over herself. Jace slipped in next to her and slipped his arm around her waist. Victoria closed her eyes and slowly drifted off, forgetting about the real world for a little while.
Glass awoke to more darkness. Glass writhed in the bed, wanting to be free of the never ending abyss. Her hands found a bandage wrapped around her eyes. She struggled to remove the gauze but once she was free of it she took in her surroundings. She was alone. She had no idea where she was and she was alone.
Glass groaned as she forced herself into a sitting position. He body was sore but she rose to her feet, stumbling toward the door. She opened it to find Magnus sitting at a breakfast bar in the warm kitchen.
"Where is-" She began but Magnus motioned for her to be quiet.
"They are asleep. I had to give Will a sedative but he's asleep as well," Magnus smiled at her. She nodded her head. She took a seat next to the warlock and closed her eyes. The pain seemed to subside when she sat down and didn't move.
"How bad is the damage?" She asked.
"Your legs, back, arms. They were all shredded and poisoned. I did what I could but the scars can not be erased," Magnus seemed pained by the fact he couldn't fix her completely.
"At least I'm in one piece," she stated.
