Chapter 8
Again, I am merely writing this for fun and I do not own any of the characters.
He was here to stay.
She could not believe what she had just heard, but it was true. He was here and he is not planning on leaving any time soon. Harvey has to put him behind bars; he has to get him away from here. This was her place, her office, and her friends she will not leave because of him…. But she cannot let him be near her child either. There has to be a way. He cannot be proven innocent, he has to go.
As she walked towards Harvey's office, she knew how upset he would be especially towards her. She did not want to include him, she did not want to reenter his life, but she had to. To keep her baby away from a man like Stephen, she had to. As she stood outside his door, she saw Scottie, Jessica, Mike and Harvey in deep discussion. She knew exactly what they were talking about. How to get rid of Stephen.
"Harvey, we cannot make him leave. He has a contract and the trial is being reopened."
"It should not be that difficult, we have our witness and proof that he is guilty."
"No, we don't"
As Donna uttered those words, she saw as everyone turned to look at her, confused. Yet, her eyes only met Harvey's. She saw confusion, pain, and concern in them. She knew she was responsible for them all.
"What are you talking about Donna."?
"Harvey, he's dead. All the evidence has been tampered with and Stephen is planning on accusing him for it all, in order to be free…in order to stay here."
"That impossible. He can't."
"Harvey…"
As Donna lost her voice, without anything left to say, she could not help but feel weak. Trapped. She had no idea what to do or what to say. All she saw was Harvey, yet as if on cue she saw as Scottie place her hand on Harvey's shoulder calming him down; she knew this was not her place.
Quickly, Donna walked away towards the elevator, she had to escape.
"Donna!"
Harvey knew she would not stop; yet seeing her walk away as tears formed in her eyes, he felt sick to his stomach. He would not let Stephen hurt her again, he cannot be free.
"Mike! I want you to recollect all the evidence, and the case briefs right now. Find out how colonel died and who was involved with his death and Stephens release NOW!"
"Harvey…"
"Scottie, if you want to help contact Darby right now and tell him I need to talk to him now. There has to be a way to get Stephen out of the contract, he needs to leave Pearson-Spector now before I send him back where he belongs."
As everyone walked out and rushed to do as Harvey stated, Jessica merely sat there waiting for Harvey to calm down.
"Harvey, I care for her too, but you need to think rationally. I do not want you to do anything in haste or in anger…like you did last time."
"I should have just killed him when I had the chance."
"I'm going to pretend I never heard that. But, again, you need to think with a clear head Harvey…for Donna's sake. I have a feeling there is more going on with her than she is letting us know."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know Harvey, but you should. After all you know her for over ten years, she knows your every move, and I bet if you try you could too."
As Jessica left, Harvey sat in confusion. What was Jessica trying to say? I thought Donna was merely upset because of Stephen…is there more to this than I suspect?
"Harvey, I have Darby on line, I think there might be a way out."
"Ok, I'm coming, give me a min."
Harvey decided, first he needs to deal with Stephen and then he could talk to Donna about whatever it is that is going on.
"Harvey… long time"
"Darby, I am not calling on a friendly note. Is there any way to release Stephen from the contract or not?"
"Well, there is one way but I will let you know… Stephen might not be too happy knowing that he is being released. He could have quite the temper at times."
"I don't give a damn about how he feels or what he thinks. I want him gone."
"I warned you Harvey, the rest is up to you. I'll have my assistant send you his contract right away with details on how to dismiss him."
