Anri's eyes hardened at the question. Shinra sank back at the serious look in her brown eyes. Anri removed her phone from her pocket again and scrolled the picture of Izaya and Celty's head then she turned her phone so that Shinra could see it. His mouth fell open. Hurt filled his brown eyes. Anri sat calmly and watched as the man's emotions flashed across his eyes. She spotted betrayal, anger, and sadness. She waited for the storms to pass.

"See now why I am concerned?" She asked. Shinra nodded mutely. His eyes were locked on the picture. He knew that Celty's head was here, but he didn't know who had it. Now, that he knew…it made him sick. Celty had been in Izaya's office before. She had been in the same room as her head and had not seen it. This would enrage Celty. This would…destroy his friendship with Izaya…

Anri sat quietly as she watched the thoughts filter across Shinra's face. A small part of her felt guilt at what she was doing. She had not fully considered the idea that Izaya had friends. She had not fully considered the idea that Shinra would be one of them. The only free hand she had tightened in her lap. Anri lowered her phone to the table top.

"I am sorry, Shinra-san," Anri told him. Her voice was quiet and sincere. Shinra smiled slightly at her. He reached forward and placed a hand over hers.

"It's alright, Anri-chan…" Shinra told her. Anri furrowed her eyebrows at the lie. It wasn't okay, not for him. Izaya, no matter how hated he was by most of Ikebukuro, was Shinra's friend. "True friends don't do this to one another," Shinra stated as if reading her thoughts. Anri swallowed. Her mind instantly moved to Kida and Mikado. Were they considered real friends? They kept such large secrets from one another… "Anri-chan, can I have some time for myself? I need to think all of this over before…" Anri smiled softly, understandingly.

"Of course, Shinra-san," Anri told him as she stood. "If you need to talk about all of this," Anri paused as if considering the extending of her offer, "and you don't feel comfortable sharing it with Celty, you have my number." She bit the bullet. Shinra's brown eyes softened slightly, but she could still see the pain and sting of betrayal in his eyes.

"I know…Thank you, Anri-chan…" Anri let herself out of his apartment. In the start of her career as an informant, she had taken simple cases that any private detective could do. She had told many wives and husbands that their spouses were having an affair. Anri had felt badly for being the one to give that information, but she had never felt this bad before. She knew it was because of her care for Shinra and Celty that she felt this badly. She had seen the pain of Shinra's face at discovering that his friend had broken his trust. Anri sighed as she rode the elevator down to the lobby. She could only hope that Shinra wouldn't do anything stupid like confront Izaya himself.

Celty returned home from the job Izaya had given her. Confusion practically oozed from her being. She was a transporter yet he had wanted her to "scare a man for information." She had been unsuccessful.

"Really?" She recalled Izaya's shocked expression. "Wow…" He had muttered as he placed his index finger underneath his chin. "He's good…" Celty had tilted her helmet and asked him just who it was that he was searching for. Izaya had waved her off, but told her to keep her ears open for information on a new informant. Celty had ignored the "ears" comment easily. Her mind was already focused on other things. Whomever this new informant was, he or she made Izaya nervous. Celty scratched her helmet as she walked into the apartment. Shock filled her for a moment as seeing Shinra sitting at the kitchen table. Concern quickly replaced it once she saw the disturbed look on his face. His fingers were flying over the keys of his cell phone. Celty tiptoed behind him and peaked over his shoulder.

[Are you positively certain?] The text he had yet to send read. Celty blinked as he erased it quickly with a shake of his head.

"No, no, she seemed extremely certain…even I can't argue with photo evidence…and it certainly didn't look photo-shopped…" Celty's confusion grew with every single mutter from her love's lips. Celty wanted to wait to see if he would give away what was bothering him, but her curiosity had grown to large. She reached forward and tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped and stood so roughly that he knocked the chair over. Celty stepped back and withdrew her PDA from her sleeve.

[Shinra?] Celty typed. [What is wrong?]

"Erika-san is sending pictures of Izaya and Shizuo kissing. She's completely certain that it's real and is trying to convince everyone that it is as well," Shinra lied. Celty paused. A small shiver rippled down her spine at the knowledge.

[No wonder you looked so disturbed…] Celty typed. Shinra nodded. [Well, I'm going to get in the shower…] She didn't add that this mission left her feeling exceedingly dirty. The fear on the man's face at the sight of her disturbed her greatly then there was the fear on his face when she asked about the new informant. He had refused to tell her anything and had begged her not to ask anymore.

Shinra simply stood by the kitchen table and watched her leave. A small sigh escaped his lips. He hadn't expected her to believe him, but then again-she had no reason not to. Celty knew Erika's yoai obsession. He glanced back down at his phone's glowing screen.

[Anri-chan…Celty is back. I lied to her.] He sent then he deleted the proof. A small sigh escaped his lips as he walked back to his bedroom. All of this…made him feel so very exhausted. Even as he lay down, his mind raced: why would Izaya have Celty's head? Why would Anri put a virus like that in his computer? How did Anri even know how to make viruses of that caliber? There was so much more that Anri was not telling him. He had the feeling that he was not the only one the young woman kept in the dark…

Anri settled into bed just as her phone beeped. She reached to her nightstand and flicked her cell phone open.

[Anri-chan…Celty is back. I lied to her.] It was only a few minutes ago that he had sent it. Anri's heart pulled uncomfortably. She knew it must have bothered him greatly to do such a thing. Anri sighed.

[Do you want me to be the one to tell her?] Anri asked. Seconds later, it went off.

[No…I just…I don't know…I can't fully accept it myself, Anri-chan. If I am still doubtful, will she even believe me?] Shinra asked. Anri bit into her bottom lip.

[Probably not, but we are going to have to show her soon. She deserves to know.] Anri sent. Her phone fell silent after that, but the sleep that followed was not easy.
