Some have been asking me not to kill Lilith, but I don't know if its because you like my OC or because you just don't want to see Danny suffer :P

Chapter 6

I've been sick for a whole week. I'm scared, but not as much as the team. They're even more worried because I have an even less amount of time from what we initially thought and no one knows when exactly I'm going to die. I have been receiving more symptoms though. Every once in a while I'd begin having headaches, feeling dizzy and my vision would slightly blur for a short while. But over the past week, my skin was becoming pale.

So there I was, wandering the busy streets of New York. After a whole week I decided to take some time for myself. But unfortunately, being a teenage superhero, doesn't always give you much time to yourself.

"Hey Lilith!" I heard someone say behind me.

"Hey MJ!" I said smiling as I turned around. Mary Jane Watson attended the same school as my friends and I. She was a friend of Peter's who slowly became a friend of the rest of the team. Her, Ava and I like to hang out every once in a while. I was actually glad to see her.

"I haven't seen any of you guys in a while. I—hey, are you alright?" she suddenly asked.

"Huh? Oh, I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

"Well, you look a little pale." She pointed out.

"Oh, right. Well, I haven't been feeling like myself lately…"

"You don't look so well. But getting some fresh air might help!"

"Thanks. So where are you headed?" I asked.

"My sources say that there's going to be a great story a few blocks from here, so that's where I'm headed!" she checked her watch. "Actually, I should be there right now, so I gotta run. I'll catch you later, Lilith, and I hope you feel better soon!" MJ said as she started to jog in the opposite direction.

"Thanks Mary Jane, see you later!" I called after her. That's Mary Jane for you, always looking for a good story. I watched her go before turning around and continued walking.

I saw it out of the corner of my eye. Down an alley I saw… something, going down the sewers. I got a bad feeling about it, but I still decided to follow it. I quickly changed into Jade and opened the sewer lid, about to jump down. Should I call the rest of the team? No, I don't know what I saw, I need to investigate. But if it's not good, I'll call them immediately for backup. I thought right before I jumped into the sewers and landed on my feet.

I caught a glimpse of it as it move behind a corner. It was made out of metal, looked very familiar and… the answer suddenly hit me. I knew exactly who I was dealing with here. But I just had to make sure. I've been proven wrong before. So I quietly ran up and hid behind the corner. I slowly looked behind the wall, but saw nothing.

"Where did you go?" I whispered to myself as I stepped out from behind the corner. All of a sudden I was attacked from above. 4 mechanical arms pinned me down to the ground.

"Doctor Octopus!" I spat.

"Coming here alone was a foolish mistake!" he said.

He's right. I have to call the team. I'm in no condition to win this fight alone. I thought. I put all of the power I had in my energy blasts, knocking Doc Oc onto the floor for a few seconds. I ran further down the sewers, while trying to dodge Doc Oc's mechanical arms, and called Peter.

"Jade! What's going on?" he asked through my transmitter.

I was about to answer, but had to duck to avoid getting hit in the head. I quickly turned around and threw energy blasts trying to slow Doc Oc down.

"I saw something and followed it into the sewers only to discover that it's Doc Oc!" I quickly explained. "I can't win this fight alone."

"What? Doc Oc?! We'll be there as soon as possible! Just try to hold off for as long as you can!" he said before ending the call.

"Will do!" I said.

I continued running and looked behind me. But I didn't see anyone. I turned back around only to find Doc Oc right in front of me. I immediately stopped running and slowly started backing away.

"Where do you think you're going? You're weak with that serum running through your blood! You won't be able to make it out of here alive."

I needed to stall until the team arrived, because he's right. I probably won't be able to make it out of here without some help. "Why did you inject that stupid serum in me?"

"Please, why would I inject months of my research in you? It was obviously a mistake!" he spat. "That injection was supposed to be for your leader, Spider man, but you unfortunately got in the way!" Doc Oc attacked once more, but this time landed a direct hit.

"Ugh!" I said as I fell to the ground. "So you planned on getting rid of the leader of the team then you'd slowly go after the rest of us knowing that we'd be that much weaker without our leader?" I said as I got up. I said it more as a statement, rather than a question.

"Smart girl, you may be of use to me."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You'll find out in time." Doc Oc said as he attacked once more, but this time I dodged it and fired an attack of my own.

Suddenly, my vision began to blur and I got a bad headache. Not now! I thought. I couldn't concentrate on what was going on. Doc Oc seemed to have sensed it and took the opportunity to attack. I took a big hit which caused an immense amount of pain in my side, but I still tried to get up. My vision quickly returned to normal but my headache was still in play. I looked up to face Doc Oc as I was about to receive another blow. I closed my eyes, bracing for impact, but it never came. Instead I heard a familiar battle cry.

I opened my eyes to find Doc Oc getting hit by Iron Fist, then to see my team surround me, as if to shield me. The next thing I knew, they were all majorly kicking Doc Oc's butt. My headache disappeared and I slowly got up, clutching my side. I tried to join the battle, but they wouldn't let me.

"Leave him to us!" White Tiger told me.

"He's done enough harm to you!" Spider man added.

I was about to protest until the pain in my side began to throb. I watched in awe as my team battled Doc Oc and they were being seen as the clear victors. In the end, it was Iron Fist who used the most power and took him down.

"Doc Oc should count himself lucky that I'm a pacifist." He said so quietly that I barely heard it.

"Gosh Jade, we leave you alone for 5 minutes…" Nova said as White Tiger elbowed him in the ribs.

"Now's not the time to joke around, Nova!" she said. "But that guy sure has a lot of nerve attacking you even after what he did to you."

"I told you he's gonna pay for what he did to you. Now he'll have to answer to Fury." Power man said.

"Are you alright?" Iron Fist asked me with great concern.

"I'm fine." I said shaking off what had happened.

"Did Oc say anything to you?" Spider man asked.

"Uh, yeah." I said "I think I found out his initial plan." And I began to explain to them what I found out.

"I was right," Spider man said after I had finished explaining, "This is my fault. The serum was supposed to be given to me, but instead it got injected in you. I'm sorry, Jade."

"Spider man, this isn't your fault." I said.

"She's right. I believe the only one to blame right now is Doc Oc." Iron Fist said.

"Wait, speaking of Doc Oc… Where'd he go?" Nova suddenly asked. That's when we noticed that Doc Oc was no longer where we left him.

"That guy has 4 big mechanical arms and none of us knew that he regained consciousness so quickly?!" Power man asked.

"Well, that's embarrassing." Nova commented.

"He couldn't have gotten far. The tunnel goes in 2 directions, let's split up. Jade, are you sure you're going to be ok?" Spider man asked.

"Yeah," I coughed. "I'm…" cough, "going to," cough, "be—" I couldn't even finish my sentence because a new symptom started. I began a coughing fit. The concern in everyone's eyes, deepened. I tried to assure them that I was going to be okay, but I wasn't able to get the words out. I cursed this new symptom.

"Jade—" Tiger began to say.

"Iron Fist, take her back to the helicarrier, we'll meet up with you afterwards." Spider man told us.

When Spider man, White Tiger, Power man and Nova split up down the 2 tunnels to look for Doc Oc, Iron Fist picked me up bridal style and carried me back to the helicarrier. "It's alright, Lilith, I'm going to take care of you." he said. I felt so weak and so helpless; 2 feelings that I absolutely hated, but there was nothing more I could do.

"Danny…" I whispered.

Yeah sorry it took me a while to update. I've been working on the next chapter so my last update wouldn't take so long. Hint hint!
