"I swear, I saw him!" I yelled.
"Nai, he can't be here, you didn't tell him where you went right?" she asked.
I let out a sob and clutched my stomach tighter.
"You don't know how crafty he is," I whispered.
"He won't hurt you," Edward said suddenly.
I looked up.
"How do you know?"
"You've got us," Bella said, "We'll keep him from you, if he is here."
I shook my head.
"He's stronger than you know," I said.
Fear still gripped my heart and it was really hard to breathe.
"Nai, calm down or you're going to give yourself a panic attack again," Bella said softly.
"I promise he won't hurt you," Edward said, "If it makes you feel better, we won't leave you alone again."
I shook my head.
"I'd love for someone to be with me all the time but I can't inconvenience anyone like that," I said.
"Maybe you could tell your dad and he could-"
"No!" Bella and I both yelled.
"Dad is like a mother hen, he's freak out and probably get mad at mom, and just, no," I said.
Bella nodded in agreement.
"Fine, I understand, but if it gets to bad, you'll need to tell him," Edward said.
I sighed.
"Okay," I replied.
"What did he do exactly?" Edward asked.
I cleared my throat and felt tears come to my eyes again.
"Let's just say he raped me a lot, got me pregnant, and killed the baby," I explained.
His face got paler, if possible, and disgust was written on his face.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"It's okay," I replied, "There's nothing that can be done now."
"Let's get your mind off of it," Bella said.
She grabbed my hands and pulled me off the bed.
"And do what?" I asked.
"Let's go to a movie or out to eat somewhere," she said.
"With what money?"
Edward smiled at that.
"That I can help with."
I rolled my eyes but gave a small smile.
"Fine, let's go see a movie," I agreed.
As we exited the theater and headed to the car, I recognized a red Volkswagen close by.
"Hey, Jacob's here," I said.
"Really?" Bella asked.
I nodded and pointed to the car. A smile lit up her face until she was tackled in a hug.
"Hi Bella!" Seth cheered.
Bella hugged him back and I watched as the rest of the group walked up. I noticed Leah was missing, as was Quil and Sam. I shrugged it off and walked up at Jacob, who was talking to Bella.
"Hey Jacob," I said.
He looked worried and patted my shoulder.
"How are you?"
"Good, it was just a little stomach bug I guess," I lied.
I looked back at the other guys and saw they were by Jacob's car, far away from us.
"What's with them?"
"Well, they're not too fond of Edward," he whispered.
I nodded. I wasn't sure why but it seemed to fit.
"Where are you guys going after this?" Seth asked.
Edward cleared his throat.
"Home, isn't that right Bella?"
"I don't want to go home yet," I said suddenly.
I met Jacob's eyes and he smiled.
"Want to come with us?" he asked.
"Yes!" I said loudly.
I blushed as I realized what a dunce I looked like. I must have seemed like an over-eager puppy. He just chuckled.
"Okay Bella, we're stealing her for a bit," Jacob said, "Unless you want to come along?"
There it was. That longing on his face that he tried to hide but it inevitably showed through.
"Sorry, I'm going to go home, just have her home by a decent time," Bella said.
The defeat was strong on his face so I tried to distract him.
"What are we going to do?"
His gaze returned to me, then Seth.
"I don't know, but we'll decide on the way to the reservation," he said.
We all said our goodbyes and headed back to Jacob's car.
"There's not enough room Jake," Seth said suddenly.
"You'll have to sit on someone's lap," Jacob said as if it pained him.
"I don't mind," Paul said with a smirk.
I returned it and accepted the challenge.
"Fine," I replied.
"You just like sitting on his lap don't you?" Embry teased.
I slapped his shoulder and glared at him.
"That time was an accident," I reminded him.
Not that I minded really. Paul was incredibly hot and had this bad boy image about him. I realized everyone was getting in the car and followed suit.
"I'm not going to hurt you am I?" I asked quietly.
I was suddenly feeling embarrassed as I realized I would have to actually sit on him.
"No, now sit," he said roughly.
I slid into the car and sat precariously on his lap, crossing my legs. He shut the door and rested his hands down. That was fine, except his hands were on my thighs and I was in a skirt!
"Ready?" Jacob asked.
"Yeah," we all said.
To my surprise, as we pulled out, Paul started rubbing my legs. I clenched up and froze. I can't say it felt bad but it sure made me nervous. Slowly his hand slid up and down my leg.
Surprisingly he leaned down to my ear and whispered, "You're soft."
Suddenly I was glad it was dark because I must have been a thousand shades of red.
"I'm hungry," Embry suddenly said.
"Let's hit McDonald's then," Jacob said.
I let out a soft gasp as his hand reached closer between my legs. I nudged him gently and he stopped.
"Thank you," I whispered.
"This isn't finished," he whispered back.
We pulled into the drive thru and they ordered a bunch of food.
"What do you want Nai?" Jacob asked.
"I'm good," I replied.
I adjusted myself as Paul touched my leg and Jacob gave me a funny look.
"You okay?"
Here was my chance, to tell about Paul, but did I really want to?
It was incredibly embarrassing, laying half-naked in front of Paul. He was like a mythical god and I was so... not.
"Calm down," he whispered.
I nodded and tried to slow down my heart, but it kept beating fast and hard.
"Do I make you that nervous?" he asked.
I swallowed thickly and nodded again.
"It's just that you're so sexy and I'm..." I trailed off as he smirked.
"You're sexy too," was all he said before he captured my lips in the second kiss of the night.
How had it come to this? I couldn't remember. All I could think of was his burning lips on mine. Slowly he pressed his tongue between my lips. It was incredibly easy for him to win dominance.
"Hmm," he said against my lips.
"What?" I asked as he pulled back.
He sniffed deeply and his features turned scary.
"Stay here," he said.
"Why? What's going on?"
He pulled his pants on, covering up something impressive, and ran out the door. I was momentarily stunned. One, whoa nelly! Who knew they came that big?! Two, why'd he leave? Was he going to leave me here all night? I sighed and started pulling my clothes on. I knew it was too good to be true.
"Nai, I- Whoa!"
I screamed and dove under the covers.
"Jacob?" I asked.
I peeked my head out of the covers and turned blood red.
"Sorry, I was trying to get dressed," I said meekly.
His features were tumultuous as he turned.
"Get dressed, I have to take you home," he said roughly.
I silently began dressing and realized there was a pit in my stomach. Was it guilt? Why did I feel guilty? I came over and tapped Jacob's shoulder.
"Ready," I whispered.
He started out and I followed him to the car parked in front. It was very awkward and quiet as we drove. To my surprise, he pulled over suddenly.
"Nai, I need to tell you something," he said.
"What?" I asked, turning to face him.
"Paul, he's just going to use you," he said.
"I know, I'm not stupid," I replied.
I played with my fingernails, afraid to meet his eyes.
"Why?" he asked.
"Because, I like to feel wanted and he does that," I replied.
"So you'll just throw yourself at anyone who shows you affection?" he asked angrilly.
I snapped up my gaze.
"No, I wouldn't, I just trust him not to hurt me," I said.
"Hurt you? He'd leave you as soon as you screwed," he said.
"Yeah, I know that, I meant he wouldn't hurt me physically, and I need that," I shouted.
I instantly covered my mouth. Damn my big mouth!
"What do you mean? Did someone hurt you?" he asked.
I shook my head.
"It's nothing," I replied.
"Nai, tell me," he whispered.
"It's stupid," I said, turning away, "Just take me home."
Suddenly there was a loud growl and a large dog-wolf thing ran past the car. I jumped towards Jacob and screamed.
"What the hell was that?!" I yelled.
"Looked like a wolf," he said.
"No duh, but how many wolves do you see that are that big?" I asked.
I tried to calm myself down and let out a sigh.
"Let's just go, before it comes back," I said.
"Fine, but you will tell me one day," he said.
I rolled my eyes but said nothing.
