"So can I see?" I asked.
Paul shrugged.
"I guess so, why do you want to see?" he asked.
"Because, I love wolves and I love shifters," I explained, "I've always been into the supernatural."
He said nothing but stood and started pulling off his clothes. I can't say I was disappointed but I was confused. He must have seen my confused look and smirked.
"I don't want to rip my clothes, and they don't shift with me," he said.
"Ah, makes sense," I replied.
He stripped down to nothing and I couldn't stop ogling him. He was definitely in shape. He stepped back and started at a run, jumping and suddenly shifting into a large wolf. I fell back in surprise. I almost expected it to be a lie, all of it, until now. He walked forward and I reached out with a shaky hand. He brushed up against me and the silkiness of his fur made me smile. He was incredibly soft. I rubbed my hand down his back and he sat down.
"You're beautiful," I murmured.
He let out a soft huff and I grinned, wondering if it was a protest. I heard crunching and we both turned fast, just to see Jacob walk up.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Paul was showing me how you all shift, it's incredible," I said softly.
"You could have asked me," he replied.
"You were busy with Bella," I retorted.
He said nothing but came forward, sitting down beside me.
"You could still show me," I muttered, "I'd love to see all of you in wolf form."
Suddenly Paul sniffed the air and looked at Jacob, letting out a growl.
"I smell it too," Jacob said.
"Smell what?" I asked.
"That blood sucker Edward," Jacob said harshly.
He jumped up and Paul turned back, dressing quickly.
"Why's Edward a bad thing?" I asked.
"They're not allowed on our land," Paul explained, offering me a hand.
I took it and rose with his help.
"Oh yeah, the treaty right?" I asked.
He nodded and started walking.
"Well, let's find out what the leech wants," Paul said gruffly.

"So he thought he could corral you into helping him?" Jacob asked seriously.
"Yes, and he said there were others willing to help," Edward replied.
"But why will they help?" I asked.
I couldn't see why anyone else would have an interest in killing me.
"Nai, he told us something, I'm not sure how true it is," Edward said softly.
"What?"
"He said you were a descendant of a siren," he said.
I let out a laugh and slapped my knee, unable to control my laughter.
"He's obviously crazy," I said once I sobered up.
"Not really," Emmett said.
I looked up at him in question.
"Bella told us you have a special talent," he said, "And I've seen it for myself."
"What's that? My klutzy ability?" I asked.
"No, your ability to convince other people," Edward said.
"No way, that's just luck," I said.
Edward shook his head.
"It doesn't seem likely, remember when we first met? You calmed Jacob and I with just your words."
"Oh yeah, I wondered about that," Jacob added.
"Guys, there's no way I'm a siren, those don't even exist," I said.
"Last week you thought werewolves and vampires didn't exist either," Jacob pointed out.
I looked down as the thought finally dawned on me. I could be something different, I could be special.
"It would explain my love of the sea," I murmured.
"And your ability to persuade people, put them under your control," Edward said.
"But how do I do it? It only happens when I really want something it seems," I said.
"Maybe that's it, you really have to want it," Jacob offers.
"But how far could it go? Could I control their actions?" I asked.
"We'll do some research," Emmett promised.
"Want to come help us?" Bella asked.
I shot a quick glance at Paul and Jacob, really not ready to leave.
"I guess-"
"Why not let her relax? She's just found out something incredible," Jacob said.
I nodded.
"I'd really like to just sit down and maybe watch a movie," I said.
"Okay, I can take you home," Edward said.
He started for the car but Paul said, "I'll do it."
I gave him a confused look but nodded.
"Sounds good to me, you all are going to be busy anyway," I told Edward.
He nodded but Bella looked at me, confusion in her eyes. She pulled me to the side and held my shoulders.
"Are you and Paul- Ya know?"
"Together? No!" I almost shouted.
He'd die if he heard that accusation.
"You sure?" she asked.
"Positive, cross my heart," I promised, "I'd let you know the moment I got a boyfriend."
She hesitated but seemed satisfied.
"Okay, because he's not the best choice of relationship material," she said.
"I know, he's a love 'em and leave 'em," I said.
"As long as you know," she said.
I smiled and patted her shoulder.
"Calm down sis," I said with a laugh.
We walked back to the group and noticed everyone looking tense.
"Let's go," Jacob said.
I nodded and waved at the Cullens and Bella, turning to follow Jacob and Paul.
"Everything okay?" I asked.
"Just an argument," Jacob said.
"Stupid leeches think they know better," Paul muttered.
"What do you mean?"
"They think they can protect you better than we can," Paul explained, "Which is fucking ridiculous."
"Calm down, we all know you're better," I said, poking his arm.
He smirked.
"Damn right we're better!" he almost shouted.
We walked the rest of the way to the houses in silence.
"So where are we going? I was serious about wanting to watch a movie," I said.
"You can come relax at my place," Jacob said.
"Or mine," Paul added.
I hesitated as they sent a quick glare at each other.
"Let's all go to one place," I said quickly.
"Okay, my place it is," Jacob said.
Paul rolled his eyes as we turned to the red house.

I jumped and let out a whimper.
"You sure you're into this?" Paul asked.
I nodded but scooted closer to him, wrapping around his arm. It felt nice having his muscles pressed against me so I pushed a little closer and laid my head on his shoulder. I heard a soft growl and looked over at Jacob, who's face was emotionless. I shook it off and focused on the movie again. The woman's chest was torn open and I clenched my eyes, clinging onto Paul. He chuckled and suddenly I was lifted and sat down on his lap. His arms encircled me and I leaned agaisnt him, feeling safer.
"Alright guys, seriously?" Jacob asked.
"What?" I asked.
"Yeah, what Jake?" Paul feigned innocence.
"You can't just do that on my couch," he said.
"Why? We're just sitting together?" I asked.
"Sitting together always leads to more with him and that is not happening in my house," Jacob said sternly.
I rolled my eyes.
"Quit acting like my father Jacob, besides, if it came to that, I'm sure we'd have the decency to go somewhere else," I said.
"Yeah, I do have a house," Paul said, "We can always go now if you wish."
"This has got to stop," Jacob growled.
Now he looked pissed.
"Paul, quit acting like you're into her when it's just for the sex," Jacob said, "And Nai, quit being so damn naive."
I sent him a glare and Paul rose, setting me down.
"Just because you're so whipped on the leech lover to see your imprint as she is, doesn't mean I have to be as dumb as you," Paul snapped.
"What's an imprint?" I asked confused.
I had heard the term once concerning Quil and Claire but it was never explained to me.
"It's-"
"None of your concern," Jacob said gruffly.
"I think I deserve to know all the secrets!" I grumbled.
"It's when a shifter meets someone they're meant to be with, whether friend or lover, but usually lover," Paul explained quickly, "It's decreed by the spirits.
Jacob gave him a murderous look.
"Oh, but Quil..."
A disturbing thought entered my head and I gagged.
"No! She's too young, right now he's a brother figure to her," Jacob cut in.
I sighed in relief.
"Thank God," I muttered, "Wait, who's the imprint?"
There was an awkward silence and Jacob cleared his throat.
"You are," he said.
My heart nearly burst from my chest.
"What?" I asked softly.
He nodded.
"Oh, well, I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Why are you sorry?" Paul asked, "He should be sorry, he's the one causing both of you suffering."
I shrugged.
"Now I'm kind of in the way of him and Bella," I answered, "But don't worry Jacob, I don't need you."
His face looked disgruntled.
"What?"
"I don't need you," I repeated in a stronger tone.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm not going to die from not being with you, besides, I've already got what I want," I said, motioning to Paul, "I don't need more than he offers."
My heart was breaking piece by piece inside as I spewed my lies. I couldn't let them know just how much I was lying, how much I wanted Jacob to accept the imprint. But if he had no control over who he imprinted on, it seemed rather forced. If I was with him, I wanted him to choose, not some power.
"Sorry this was kind of thrown on you, but obviously you can fight it if you have so far," I said.
"So, you don't feel the pull?" he asked.
"Nope," I said, popping the 'p', "Just focus on winning over Bella."
I crossed my arms over my chest, subconsciously shielding my heart, and Paul put his arm over me.
"We're going," Paul said.
I nodded and followed him out, leaving a open-mouthed Jacob behind.
