I threw my head back and let out a breath. Being quiet was hard, with the skilled moves Paul had. It didn't take long for me to be at my end.
"Nn, Paul!" I whimpered, "I'm so close."
He leaned down and suddenly bit my neck. I gasped and bit my lip hard, stifling a loud moan. It felt like a warm ocean washed over me as I came with fervor. I clenched around him and he jerked slightly, throbbing inside of me, signaling his end.
"You did good, being quiet," he murmured.
I followed his suit of getting dressed and laid back down in the bed.
"I'm surprised no one heard us though, the bed should have given it away," I whispered.
"Bella is snoring and your dad isn't home yet," he said.
I nodded in understanding. He started towards the window but stopped short, turning to look at me. I raised an eyebrow in confusion as he came back over. He climbed over me on the bed and kissed me softly. It was sweet and deep. As he pulled away, I slowly opened my eyes.
"Wow," I murmured.
He gave me a real smile and leaned down again, kissing my forehead.
"Have a good night," he said.
"After that, I think I'll have a good week," I joked.
"See you tomorrow."
I waved as he climbed out of the window and smiled to myself.
"It's so cool!" I shouted.
I felt a rumble go through his body as he slowed down and I let out a giggle. I petted the soft fur beneath me and climbed off.
"There is no cooler way to get to school," I said.
He bowed his head slightly and I rubbed it, loving the feel of his fur in my hands.
"I think I like this form almost as much as your human form," I teased.
Suddenly he shifted back. He gave me a predatory smile as he stalked forward, completely naked.
"Really?" he asked.
I gulped slightly and stepped back.
"How about I show you why this form is better?"
"Paul, I've got school," I muttered.
I really didn't want to leave him but if I got a detention, dad would kill me.
"Fine, but tonight, you're mine," he said softly.
Our hands met and he pulled them up, kissing my knuckles one by one.
"Got it?"
I took a deep breath and nodded. He really could be a charmer when he tried. He gave me a smirk and stepped back.
"Bye Nai."
I waved and he changed back, running into the woods. I hurried out of the forest and started towards the school.
"You smell like mutt," someone said.
I jumped and let out a screech as I saw Emmett behind me.
"Don't do that!" I growled.
"Sorry, but you smell to the high heavens," he said, crinkling up his nose.
I blushed slightly and slapped him.
"Shut up," I muttered.
"Just saying," he said in a singsong voice.
"I got a ride to school with Paul," I explained, "Not like you need to know."
"Ah, the one with the temper?" he asked.
I nodded.
"Be careful," was all he murmured before walking off.
I questioned this but put it off as I saw Bella and the rest of the Cullens.
"Hi guys!" I said.
Each member besides Bella wrinkled their noses.
"Told you," Emmett said.
I shot him a glare.
"I got a ride from Paul, jeez, you'd think I'd bathed in skunk water or something."
"You might have well as," Rosalie said snappily.
I rolled my eyes and said nothing. Finally the bell rang and we all walked to our respective lockers. It took me nearly all my time to sort through my homework and get my books correct. Mr. Tuck gave me a wary eye as I walked in, almost late.
"You're pushing it Swan," he said.
"Sorry Mr. Tuck," I murmured, heading back to my seat.
Emmett leaned away and I groaned.
"Is it seriously that bad?" I asked.
He nodded and opened his book.
"You should seriously think about taking a break from those mutts," he said with a grimace.
"Sorry, but they're protecting me," I said.
"We could too," he retorted.
"Yeah, but I'm not with-"
I cut myself off as he gave me a pointed look.
"You're dating one of them?" he asked in disgust.
I cleared my throat and opened my book, focusing on what Mr. Tuck was saying.
"Not dating necessarily," I whispered.
I knew he could hear by the look on his face.
"Does Bella know?" he asked.
I shook my head.
"And she doesn't need to," I responded.
He said nothing but I saw the worry on his face.
"You can keep this secret, right?" I asked.
"I'll try," he said.
I nodded. That was as much as I could ask.
"Aw, you brought your car," I pouted.
Jacob gave me a confused look.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I?" he asked.
I shrugged.
"Paul let me ride on his back," I said.
"In his wolf form," I added.
"Well sorry I'm not as good as Paul," he said roughly.
"Stop acting jealous," I said, "We both know you're not."
He shot me a look.
"Jacob, can we just get to the reservation? I've got homework and I don't want to fight."
It was strange how distant we had become. Was it because we were denying the imprint? Is that happened to the imprinters?
"Fine," was all he said.
We drove in silence until we came to his house.
"I'm with you today?"
"Yeah, Paul has patrol," he replied curtly.
That stung slightly. He must be really mad about my remark earlier.I got out of the car and headed inside.
"Hi Billy," I said, as I entered.
I was here so much now that he was like a second dad to me. Wait... weird. That would mean I was in love with my brother. Uck! I shook my head and smiled as Billy waved.
"Good to see you again, you worked any on your powers?"
He also knew about my condition, as did all of the people who knew about the shifters.
"Some, but I can't do more than influence, if the person is dead set on their intentions on it, I can't do anything," I responded, feeling slightly downtrodden.
"Don't worry, it'll come to you more as you work on it," he said.
I nodded and said thanks, heading to the couch to work on my homework. I let out a sigh and opened my geometry book.
"Want help?" Jacob asked.
I gave him a confused look.
"You want to help me?" I asked.
He nodded and sat down.
"There's no reason for us to fight," he said.
"I agree," I said, turning the book so he could see.
He reached out and our hands brushed, causing a jolt in my body. I pulled back in a rush and stammered an apology.
"It's okay," he said.
He stared into my eyes and I felt a sensation pulling me forward. No way, was this really going to happen? Suddenly he pulled back.
"Sorry," he said.
I blushed and looked down, trying to focus on the problem, but the thought that we almost kissed pounded at my mind. Did he want to kiss me? I looked back up at him and licked my lips subconsciously. I wondered what he would taste like, how he would kiss. Suddenly he looked up and I blushed, looking away. Out of no where my phone vibrated, scaring the hell out of me. I picked it up and answered it as I recognized the number.
"Hey, I'm done with patrol, want to come over for dinner?" Paul asked.
I smiled and said, "Sure, thirty minutes okay? I'm working on my home work with Jacob."
I heard a soft growl at his end.
"Homework huh?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Nothing, thirty minutes is fine, I'll get it ready, see you then," he said.
We said our good byes and I saw Jacob looking unamused.
"What?" I asked, putting my phone away.
"You're going to Paul's?" he asked.
I nodded.
"We're gonna have dinner," I said.
"Mmhmm," was all he said.
I ignored his skepticism and focused on the work. Jacob threw in a couple helpful hints as I worked along but overall it was silent and the chemistry we seemed to have before was gone. I let out a sigh as I finished my last problem and rose with my books.
"Thanks for the help," I said.
"No problem," he replied
As I started towards the door, his hand grabbed mine and stopped me.
"Why are you doing this to yourself?" he asked softly.
"Because, he hasn't given me a reason not to trust his motives," I said," Our intentions are clear between each other, so no one expects more than they should."
"I don't want you hurt," Jacob said.
"Jacob, you don't seem to get it, I know he's not after a relationship, I'm okay with that," I said quietly.
"Why?"
"Because, right now he's giving me what I need, attention, respect, and passion," I explained.
"Someone else could do that," he urged.
"Like who? Who could I be remotely interested in?" I asked.
He was silent.
"Exactly, Paul's the only man I like Jacob," I said.
But I love you, I wanted to scream. It was frustrating. Part of me really did like Paul, but the majority of me loved Jacob so much it hurt.
"Besides, it's not like you're up for the job," I half-teased.
He didn't smile.
"Come on, it was a joke," I said, nudging him.
"It's not funny," he replied dryly.
"Well, you're the one fighting the imprint," I said.
I quickly realized my mistake and said, "Anyway, I've got to get going."
I ran out of the door and forced myself to pick up to full speed running, feeling as if I can run away from my feelings. By the time I reached Paul's door, I was out of breath. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and knocked on the door.
"Come on in," Paul yelled.
I headed inside and toss my shoes off at the door like usual. I saw usual but it's only been twice and both times we weren't having dinner.
"Smells good," I said as I entered the kitchen.
He turned and smirked at me.
"Better be good too," he said.
"I'm sure it will be," I said.
Surprisingly he was fully dressed in a tight black shirt and jeans, compared to his normal cutoffs. He looked really nice, plus it really outlined his muscles. I walked over and wrapped my arms around him, pressing my face to his back.
"Thank you," was all I said.
To my surprise, he put his hand over mine and rubbed gently.
"For what?" he asked.
"For being here, for everything," I replied, "I know we're not a couple but it feels just enough so that I'm incredibly happy."
He was so warm that I felt my eyelids begin to droop. I hadn't been sleeping much due to Paul coming in my room late at night after patrols, and being wrapped around him made for a really comforting feeling.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Hmm?" I murmured.
He turned and I looked up into his handsome face, waking myself up.
"Ready for dinner?"
I nodded and grabbed a plate, heading for the couch.
