For the first time ever, I was asleep by ten o'clock. Now at five a.m. I was wide awake while the werewolf next to me snored away. I stared at him and reached over, gently running my finger down his chest. He was so amazing. Why couldn't I have imprinted with Paul? Sure he was rough around the edges but who isn't? He twitched slightly in his sleep and I smiled. He looked so innocent when he was sleeping.
"Nai?" came his husky, sleep-filled voice.
My smile widened and I snuggled closer.
"Yeah?"
"Why are you up?" he asked.
"Went to sleep too early," I replied casually.
He said nothing but his hand roamed up my back softly, giving me goose bumps.
"Well good morning then," he murmured.
I was suddenly pulled over on top of him and our lips met softly.
"I could get used to this," he muttered.
"We kiss all the time," I replied.
"No, I meant waking up to you next to me."
My heart felt a pang of happiness and I couldn't control a grin.
"Yeah I feel the same," I murmured.
Our eyes searched one another until we kissed again. This one was more hungry. I could feel the urge rising up in me as his hands ran under my shirt up my back. I gently rolled my hips and he let out a grunt as I came in contact with something hard. Suddenly there was a loud banging. Paul cursed softly and lifted me off. I followed him down the hall and watched as he opened the door.
"Where's Nai?" Bella asked.
"Here," I called.
Paul stepped back and let me into the doorway.
"Why the hell didn't you call me?" she demanded, "I had Edward looking for you all night."
She yanked me into a hug and I felt tears on my shirt.
"I lied to Charlie for you but I won't do it again," she said.
"Sorry, my phone was dead Bella," I said, feeling slightly bad.
"You could have used Paul's phone to call me."
"I forgot honestly," I replied, "Just, next time give me twenty-four hours before you break out the vamp search brigade, okay?"
Paul chuckled slightly and I saw him heading for the kitchen. She gave me a look as he left.
"I thought you'd tell me if you were dating someone?" she asked.
I could see the hurt in her eyes as she stared at me and the guilt came on even thicker.
"Sorry, but we're not really dating," I said, "It's hard to explain."
Realization came over her face.
"Are you sleeping with him?" she whispered.
I hesitated but nodded. No sense in hiding it any longer.
"It's the only thing keeping me sane," I said truthfully, "With all this crap going on."
She let out a long sigh and ran her hand through her hair. Her eyes looked at me in sorrow.
"Just don't get hurt," she whispered.
"I won't Bella, I know the situation here," I said.
I pulled her into a hug again and rubbed her back.
"I can handle this," I assured her.
"Nai, are you staying for breakfast?" Paul called.
"Yeah, if that's okay," I yelled back.
"Sure thing," he replied.
"Well, I guess I'll be going, don't be late for school," Bella said awkwardly.
I nodded and shut the door as she walked away.
"Well, at least now I don't have to hide it," I said.
It felt like a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders as I walked into the kitchen.
"You're going to spoil me," I said as I noticed the pancakes cooking in the pan.
"Well, to be honest, you're the first girl I've had stay over," he said, "I'm trying to make it pleasant."
"Everything is pleasant with you Paul," I said with a grin.
"Not always," he said.
"So what? I take the bad with the good, besides, compared to Nicholas, you're a saint," I said with a snort.
He let out a soft growl.
"Don't mention that name," he said.
"Sorry," I muttered.
I sat down at the table and watched him cook. It was nice being cooked for seeing as Bella and I always did the cooking at dad's house.
"So what's your favorite color?" I asked randomly.
"Black or brown," he said, "Yours?"
"Hunter green," I replied, "Favorite food?"
"Breakfast," he said enthusiastically.
I let out a laugh and smiled. I headed to the counter and he rested his hand on my back.
"I'll have to cook for you sometime," I said.
"I'd like that," he replied with a real smile.
