I gripped Paul's hand tightly as we headed to the car.
"Nervous?" he asked.
I nodded.
"I just want the baby to be okay," I murmured.
"It will be," Paul replied, kissing the top of my head before getting in the car.
"Hey," someone said.
I stopped my descent into the seat and turned to see a woman.
"Have you seen Jacob? I've been looking all over the reservation for him," she said.
Paul dropped my hand and I felt curiosity burning at me. I looked up into his eyes but they were nearly glazed over, staring at the girl.
"Rachel?" he asked.
"Yeah, how'd you know?" she asked.
Paul cleared his throat.
"You look like Jake," Paul said.
He stepped forward and I knew instantly I was forgotten. He had imprinted. I took a deep breath and tears blinded my vision.
"Paul?" I asked.
He didn't turn around, too engrossed in his conversation. I'd lost him. That's two guys now that I'd lost due to other women. I let out a shaky sob and turn, running off. Everything was a blur of hazy green as I made my way through the forest as fast as I could. Suddenly something white zipped in front of me. I stopped dead and stared at the face that terrorized me for years.
"Hello Nai, welcome back," he said.
"Leave me alone, haven't you done enough?" I spat.
He just chuckled and stalked forward. I backed up but ran into something. I looked up and nearly screamed as I saw a red-eyed man.
"You're surrounded," Nicholas said, almost as if he pitied me.
"Let me go," I murmured to the man behind me.
He grasp loosened and I broke free.
"You think that will be enough siren spawn?" Nicholas said snidely, "Your powers are too weak."
"Let me be, oh just let me be," I sung softly, "I beg of you, let me go."
He blinked rapidly and stepped back, but didn't retreat.
"Damn you!" he shouted, "Why can't I move to you?"
I just smiled softly and let out a blood curdling scream, containing on very important name. As if the spell was broke, he lunged forward, clasping my throat tightly. I let out a cough and tried to breathe in, but the struggle was great.
"I heard you were pregnant again, too bad that boy left you," he whispered, "I told you they always mess up."
"Leave my baby out of this," I rasped.
He gave an evil smirk and suddenly I felt blinding pain. It was so horrible I thought I was dying.
"Nai!" I heard.
"I smell blood."
"Damn it Paul, why'd you let her go?"
I began to lose focus on the voices and barely felt myself drop. I felt my abdomen but there was no physical sign of my pain. I lifted my shift carefully and saw the large bruise that his fist must have left.
"That should work, now, I'll be back and next time, we won't be found," he said.
I looked up at his blurry form and tried to curse at him, but felt myself falling into darkness.
"Nai!"
I struggled to open my eyes but couldn't. Hands touched my stomach and I cried out, apparently strong enough to scare them.
"She's bleeding from the groin," someone said.
"Is she miscarrying?"
"When a human or human-like endures such trauma, there is a high chance of miscarriage."
Carlisle? I'm miscarrying? No! I couldn't lose another baby to him. I tried to sit up but all I could manage was a twitch of my muscles.
"She's relatively conscious."
"She can hear us?"
"Yes."
"I'm so sorry Nai," someone that sounded like Paul said.
"I'm sorry I didn't smell them sooner," Jacob added in.
I was picked up and a kiss was placed to my forehead.
"Us too," a few voices added.
"Don't worry Nai, it'll all be over soon," Carlisle muttered.
I questioned this but soon was completely unconscious.

As I sat up, I groaned. My stomach felt like I had a couple organs removed.
"Nai!" a group yelled.
I jumped as screamed as I saw the room packed. I tried to settle myself as I recognized my dad and Bella. Dad pushed forward and I saw anger on his face.
"Why didn't you tell me this man was after you? Damn it Nai! I could have saved you, I could have saved the ba-"
Jacob laid his hand on dad and shook his head.
"I lost it?"
Everyone was silent which told me the answer. I heard someone move and saw Paul leave the room.
"How are you?" Dad asked.
"I hurt," was all I could manage.
Hurt was an understatement. Now my physical pain felt like a mosquito bit compared to the pain tugging at my heart. I took a deep breath and leaned my body down, wincing at the pain. I didn't want them to see me crying. To my surprise a very warm hand was placed on my back.
"I just seem to lose everything," I whispered.
Tears fell in my open hand as I let out a sob.
"Guys, give her some space," Jacob said.
I heard footsteps leaving the room and I looked up. Only my dad, Bella and Jacob remained in the room.
"Thank you, I don't need everyone to see me being a baby," I muttered.
"You're not being a baby," Jacob said.
"Okay, a loser, whatever, first I can't even have the person I'm in love with, then I lose the father to my baby, then I lose my baby," I snapped.
"You lost Paul?" Bella asked.
"Oh he hasn't told you all?" I asked.
They shook their heads. I cleared my throat as I remembered my dad didn't know about the wolves and vampires.
"He likes Rachel," I muttered.
"He likes her?" Jacob asked in a deadly voice.
"Yeah, he did the moment he saw her," I said.
I was trying to get it across without saying imprinting. Jacob's eyes lit up as he understood.
"He left you?" Dad asked.
I nodded. He rose and headed out.
"Bella, make sure he doesn't get hurt," I begged.
"Paul wouldn't hurt him," Jacob said, sitting down beside me.
"I don't know, he just lost his baby, he's probably not thinking clearly," I said.
Jacob nodded.
"So he imprinted on my sister?"
I gave a curt nod and stared back down at my hands.
"Are you going to be okay?"
I cleared my throat but couldn't get rid of the need to cry.
"I don't know," I replied hoarsely.
Shivers wracked through my body as I let out a sob. Suddenly arms were around me.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered.
I shifted and clung to him hard, taking in his smell. Very few times had we been this close, but every time it happened, it made me feel better. I finally stopped my tears and calmed myself enough to thank him.
"I'm here whenever you need me," he whispered, pushing hair behind my ear.
"You don't know how bad I need you," I whispered back.

And then he kissed me.
