"Mm," I groaned as someone called my name.
"Nai! What are you doing?"
I jerked upright and saw my dad staring at me.
"Dad?" I asked, "What are you doing in my room?"
"You're outside Nai."
"Morning Charlie," Jacob said.
I jumped and turned in surprise. Oh yeah, I had fallen asleep outside with Jacob.
"Why are you sleeping outside?"
"Well, I had a nightmare and called Jacob over, I guess we fell asleep talking," I lied.
It was so hard having him outside of the werewolf/vampire loop. He gave me a sympathetic look.
"Sorry," Jacob said.
Dad nodded and pointed towards the house.
"I've got to get going to work, Bella made breakfast," he said, "Apparently Edward's coming over with some news for you guys so you better get inside."
I got up and hugged him tightly.
"Thanks dad," I whispered.
I'm so glad I have such an understanding father, otherwise Jacob would probably be six feet under the ground right now. Dad walked off and I turned to Jacob.
"I didn't have any nightmares," I whispered.
"Really?"
I nodded and grabbed his hand.
"Maybe you're my shield," I joked.
His face was serious though as he replied, "It would make sense."
"How so?"
"The imprint, we've denied it for so long, now that we've kind of accepted it, you probably feel safer," he explained.
"I guess that makes sense."
He smiled and leaned in, kissing my forehead.
"I'm glad I make you feel safe," he whispered.
"Maybe we'll just have to sleep together from now on," I teased.
I got up and gathered the blanket, just to see him smirking.
"Are you sure you want to chance that?"
"I trust you Jacob," I replied honestly, "It's me you should worry about."
He chuckled and got up.
"I'm not worried about you," he said.
"You don't know me well enough then," I retorted.
"Come on, let's go get breakfast," he said, putting his arm around me.

"I just thought you should know," Edward said.
"I can't believe he had the audacity to come to your family," I hissed.
"I can't believe he thinks he has a chance to live long enough to recruit others," Jacob growled.
I saw the murderous look in his eyes and laid my hand on his shoulder. Bella looked uncomfortable and cleared her throat. I removed my hand and looked down. Bella wasn't approving of our relationship, even though we were just friends for now. I guess she still harbored feelings for Jacob. Would she get in the way of Jacob and I? I surely hoped not. Jacob grabbed my hand and rubbed it with his thumb.
"Don't worry, we'll stop him."
"Did he say how many people he had?" I asked Edward.
"Around fifteen," he replied, "That's how many people showed up."
"Damn," I cursed softly, "That's a lot."
"We'll fight with you Nai," Edward promised, "My family and I have already discussed it."
"You will?" I asked in surprise.
These people didn't know me very well and the fact they'd stand up for me was endearing.
"You're going to be family soon, so yes," he said.
I looked at Jacob for any sign of anger but he seemed just the same he was a moment ago. Was he really over Bella just like that?
"Hey, we lost you," he whispered.
I smiled and focused in on the conversation again.
"Between the pack and you all, we should have enough of an army to fight him," Jacob said.
"Thank you all," I murmured, "It's so hard to ask you to put your lives on the line for me."
"You're not asking, we're asserting our power and doing so," Jacob said, "You know I wouldn't let anything happen to you again."
I winced at the reminder and instantly grabbed my stomach. His face looked sorrowful and he pulled me into his arms.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up."
"It's okay," I muttered.
I wasn't mad, but the memory definitely had me feeling worse. Bella cleared her throat again and I rolled my eyes, pulling away from Jacob.
"Hey Jake, can I talk to you?" Bella asked.
"Sure," Jacob replied.
They went outside and I wondered just what they had to talk about. I met Edward's eyes and he gave me a pained expression.
"What are they talking about?" I asked.
"I don't know exactly, but she sounds angry," he said.
I questioned this and curiosity got the better of me. I headed up to my room and opened the window, hearing their voices from below.
"Bella, you know I imprinted on Nai."
"Yeah but I thought you were fighting it, for me?" she asked.
She sounded so pitiful that I almost felt bad for her. Then I remembered she was trying to take Jacob back.
"That was before I realized how much I needed her," he responded.
"Jacob, nothing has changed, you probably just feel pity for her and that's it, you know you love me."
"Loved Bella, for a foolishly long time," he said sternly, "If I had wised up sooner, maybe Nai never would have gotten hurt."
"So you feel guilty? Is that it? Well, you can feel guilty and not have to be with her."
"We're technically not together," he said.
I could hear the pain in his voice and felt bad. After the miscarriage, I wasn't ready for such a big change, too wrapped up in grieving. Maybe I had taken enough time for myself. Was I being selfish waiting so long? I know Jacob would never hurt me like Paul did, the imprint assured that. Maybe I was just scared. Suddenly I was pulled out of my thoughts as I heard a crash. I looked down and saw Bella on top of Jacob.
"Just kiss me and you'll see, you wanted to kiss me for so long right?"
"Bella, stop it, you're embarrassing yourself," Jacob growled.
That was the last straw. I ran downstairs and pulled Edward with me outside. We silently creeped around the house and I heard his sharp intake of breath at the scene. I couldn't just let him live in ignorance of what Bella was doing. He was planning on marrying her, and she was doing this?
"Bella Swan!" I shouted.
She jumped and stumbled back, falling on her butt.
"Nai, it's not-"
"I know Jacob, I heard," I replied softly.
His face relaxed and he climbed up, glaring down at Bella.
"Bella, how could you?" Edward asked.
"Edward, I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me."
"Jealousy maybe? You're so used to having Jacob to yourself that you can't stand him showing interest in me?"
She hung her head and I felt Jacob's arm wrap around my waist.
"You need to get used to it Bella, my life is now dedicated to Nai, not you," he said, "Please understand that."
"I get it Jacob, and I understand," she said softly.
She then met my angry gaze and her face was apologetic to say the least.
"I'm sorry Nai, I was acting selfishly," she murmured.
"You should apologize to Edward, because you're my sister I have to forgive you," I explained, "He doesn't."
"Edward."
"I need time Bella," Edward said quietly, "Tomorrow night we're having a family get together and you three are invited, we'll talk then Bella."
She nodded and climbed up from the ground.
"I'm going for a walk."
"Be careful," I warned, "Nicholas might want to get at you to get to me."
"Maybe you shouldn't walk," Edward said.
"I'd be safe if you came with me," she pleaded.
"No, I need time," he repeated.
She pouted but nodded, heading inside.
"I'm sorry about Bella," he said.
"It'll be okay, are you really that mad?" I asked.
"I'm hurt more than mad," he explained, "I can't believe she'd do this to me, to us."
"I'm sure it was just a one-time fit," Jacob assured him.
"If she tries it again, will you tell me?"
"I guess," Jacob replied.
It was strange to see them on common ground now. I guess since they were no longer fighting over Bella they could at least stop being aggressive, besides the Vampire/Werewolf thing.
"Well I'm going, see you later Nai," Edward said.
I nodded and let out a sigh once he left.
"That was stressful," I murmured.
"I'm sorry Nai, I just didn't want to hurt her physically by removing her," he said.
"I listened in on the conversation," I admitted.
"Ah, so you heard it all?" he asked.
I nodded and took a deep breath.
"Jacob, if you're ready, I think-" I paused and met his soulful brown eyes.
"I think I'd like to date you," I whispered.
His eyes lit up and suddenly I was in the air. I quickly wrapped my legs around him to support myself and let out a squeal.
"You won't regret it Nai, I promise!" he said.
I giggled at his reaction and ran my hands over his hair.
"I know," I said softly.
He set me back down and I pulled him down to my height. He looked at me surprised until I gave him a light kiss. His hands cupped my face and he pulled me harder against him. My lips felt bruised by the time he pulled back.
"Nai, let's go into town!" Bella yelled.
I smiled at Jacob and asked, "Feel like shopping?"
He let out a playful groan and I shoved him.
"I could always get one of the Cullens to come with us," I said.
"No, I'd rather you not stink," he said, crinkling up his nose.
"Then don't complain," I teased.
