I giggled and pushed him gently towards Bella and Edward. It was August 13th, the day Edward and Bella got married.
"Come on, don't make me force you," I muttered.
He said nothing but picked up his feet and headed towards the now married couple.
"Bella, Edward, congratulations," he said stiffly.
"Yeah, it was beautiful," I added.
Jacob wrapped me in his arms and gave a half smile.
"So when's the honeymoon?" I asked.
"Tomorrow, we leave tonight," Edward said.
"Ah, well, have fun, anyway, we've got to get going," Jacob said.
I nudged him for his rude attitude but ever since he learned Bella was going to be human on the wedding night, he had been worried about her.
"We will, thanks," Bella said, "See you later."
"Love you Bella," I said, waving, "Bye Edward."
Jacob and I walked off and headed for the car.
"I can see our wedding being just as beautiful," I murmured.
"Except not filled with leeches," he snarled.
"The Cullen's will be there," I replied.
His eyes flashed but he nodded curtly.
"Fine, if that's what you wish."
"I do," I replied, "They played a role in saving my life."
He sighed.
"I remember."
We got in the car and started towards the reservation.
"Thank you for coming with me," I murmured, grabbing his hand.
He rubbed my knuckles softly and smiled.
"I can't say no to you," he replied.
"Well then, can we go out somewhere?"
He winced.
"I don't really have the money right now, until Sam gets the garage set up I-"
"Jacob, I wouldn't mind just going to the beach or walking in the woods," I replied softly, "You know that."
"I know," he sighed, "I just wish I could do more for you."
"You do enough," I assured him.
There was a calm silence until we reached his house.
"We can trek to the woods from here," he said.
I nodded and climbed out from the car. A sharp pain ran through my body and I winced. It continued for a minute or so before easing away.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, just had a weird pain," I replied.
We continued on walking and I took his hand.
"So when do you think we should tell everyone?" I asked.
He smiled and fingered the ring on my hand. Early that morning he had asked me to marry him. I guess the pending wedding got him in the mood.
"Tonight, I think tonight would be great," he said.
"Okay, we'll gather the pack down at Sam and Emily's," I replied, "I still can't believe we're going to get married."
I held a squeal in and turned, facing him and planting a kiss on his lips.
"You sure you're ready to become Mrs. Black?"
"Nai Black, it sounds good," I said, like I hadn't mulled it over a million times already.
He kissed my forehead and suddenly the pain struck again. This time it was stronger. After a minute it wore off and I righted myself.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
I nodded.
"I'm probably having pains from eating too much cake," I explained.
Honestly I was mystified by the pain but I wasn't too worried. It could be gas pain or I could have to go to the bathroom really bad. I shook off my thoughts and focused on the conversation.
"Do you want to help plan, or should I corral the girls?"
"I'm not very good with weddings," he said.
I giggled at his uncomfortable expression and grinned.
"Okay, I think it'd be more fun with the girls anyway, we hardly get to have girl time," I replied.
We continued walking in silence, just enjoying each other company, but I could tell something was wrong by his face.
"Are you mad about something?" I asked.
"No, yes, maybe," he sighed.
"What?" I asked.
He sat down on a log and groaned.
"I'm so worried Bella is going to get hurt by him," he said finally.
"Jacob, it'll be okay," I assured him, "Edward wouldn't hurt her if he even wanted to."
"What if he looses control?" he asked.
"What if you or Paul lost control? You're just as strong," I replied.
"It's different," he growled.
"How?" I retorted.
"It just is, we don't lust after your blood," he said.
"No, but you could just as easily snap or get too into it," I sighed, "Please, trust Edward, and Bella."
He looked up at me as I doubled over in pain. It was even stronger this time and I had to sit down.
"I think you should see a doctor," he said worriedly.
"I'll be fine," I gasped.
"No, you can barely talk," he said.
He helped me up and suddenly water poured from between my legs.
"Did- Did you just-?"
"No!" I shouted.
I was mortified but even more so I was scared.
"Jacob, we need to get to the hospital now," I whispered.
"I know! Let's go!"
"You're in labor," the doctor said.
"How?!" I shouted.
As another supposed contraction hit me, I cried out. In the past thirty minutes the pain had gotten excruciating.
He pulled the blanket up on my knees and said, "I'm going to check your cervix, it might hurt a bit."
I grabbed Jacob's hand and squeezed with all my might as the doctor pushed his fingers in, past the comfortable place into uncharted territory.
"Okay, the baby is low, and I would say you're about six centimeters dilated," he said, removing his fingers.
I sighed in relief but shock took over. I was pregnant and having a baby?
"You're still early enough we could get you an epidural, would you want one?" he asked.
"Please! I can't take it," I hissed as another contraction hit me.
Minutes later I was being poked and prodded until the epidural was, painfully, inserted in my back. Jacob was allowed back into the room and I felt like crying as I saw his face.
"I'm so glad you're okay," he whispered, taking my hand.
I felt a few tears slip out and was about to speak when the doctor came in.
"We're going to do an ultrasound to see how face along you are," he said.
"Okay," I replied.
My gown was pulled up and he took out the wand. The jelly was warm as he spread it over my belly with the wand, and on the screen popped a head.
"Well, good thing is the baby is in the correct position," he said.
Then he was silent as he took measurements. I held Jacob's hand tightly in worry. What if the baby was premature?
"Great!" he said with a smile.
"What?" Jacob asked.
"The baby is measuring about 37 weeks and considered enough full term that we will let the labor progress," he said.
I felt a smile move onto my face and quickly looked at Jacob.
"You're going to be a daddy," I whispered.
"I don't see how we didn't see it," he replied.
"I don't know, I gained about ten pounds but I never showed," I replied.
Now looking back, I realized my periods had been lighter and shorter, but they never stopped. I saw him get up and pull his phone out.
"I'm calling your dad to pick my dad up and come over," he said.
I nodded and laid back. All I could do now was wait.
"You're a nine now, not too long," the doctor said.
I nodded and looked over at my dad.
"I never thought I'd see this day so soon," he said softly.
"I know, me either," I whispered.
He awkwardly rubbed my hand and Billy cleared his throat.
"How did this go unnoticed for so long?" he asked the doctor.
"Sometimes the baby is positioned so far back and if the woman has bleeding throughout so they hink they're having their period," the doctor explained, "It's uncommon but it does happen."
Billy nodded and dad sighed. The doctor said his good byes for now and walked out.
"How long do we have to go?" dad asked.
"One centimeter," I replied.
"Are you feeling any pain?" Jacob asked.
I shook my head and he smiled.
"Good."
Then he leaned down and kissed me softly.
"I can't wait for the baby to be here," he said.
He sat down on the bed and rubbed my stomach, which was barely poking out.
"I can't believe there's a baby in there," I whispered, "I kind of feel robbed of my pregnancy."
"Don't worry, we'll have another," he said teasingly.
"Hey, not in front of the parents," Billy groaned.
We chuckled and I rubbed Jacob's shoulder gently. He grabbed my hand and massaged it softly.
"Nai Swan?" a nurse asked.
"Yeah," I replied.
"There's a group of men and ladies requesting to see you," she said.
"Okay, let them in," I said, knowing it was the pack.
In filtered the pack one by one, all looking worried.
"So you were pregnant this whole time?" Seth asked.
"Yeah, since around Christmas," I said.
"Awesome!" he cheered.
I grinned and patted his shoulder.
"How are you feeling?" Emily asked.
"Fine, a little thirsty but I'm only allowed ice chips in case of an emergency," I replied.
She nodded and came up, pushing the hair from my forehead.
"We don't want to crowd up the room so we'll go wait in the waiting room," Emily said.
"Okay guys, Jacob will come tell you when the baby's here," I said happily.
"Good luck," a few of the boys said before leaving.
Paul lingered and I smiled at him.
"We're all here if you need us," he said.
I thanked him and he left with a wave.
Suddenly I felt a strong urge to push. It was like having a bowel movement but stronger.
"Jacob, get the doctor," I urged.
He jumped up and ran out into the hall. I held it in as long as I could, but eventually I had to give in a push. Pressure began building and becoming stronger until it hurt.
"Dad!" I gasped.
"What's happening?" he asked, jumping over.
"I think the baby's coming," I hissed.
I fell back as the doctor came in.
"Feeling the need to push?" he asked.
I nodded and let out a groan. He got on his garb and gloved, then came over. Billy scooted to the side by dad and Jacob saddled up to my side.
"Okay daddy, help hold her leg up," the doctor said.
My legs were pushed up and the doctor chuckled.
"Oh you're so close Nai! Just a few more pushes and I'm sure the baby will be here," he said.
I took a deep breath and bared my weight down, pushing as hard as I could. They started counting and once they got to ten, I stopped pushing.
"Once more Nai," the doctor said.
I let out a low moan of pain as the pressure built. A strangled cry wrenched from my throat and Jacob looked panicked.
"Nai, are you okay?" he asked.
I nodded but bared down again.
"Good Nai, keep pushing, almost there."
Then I felt burning and stinging as the pressure hit it's peak. I couldn't help a screech and the nurses started clambering about as I felt something being pulled out of me.
"Congratulations! It's a little girl!" the doctor said.
Relief washed over me as I heard the first cry. Then I fell back and nearly passed out, staring at Jacob with a smile.
