Part 3, I think this is what I thought part 2 was... This is such a long chapter! Be proud! Enjoy!
Chapter 15
MAX POV
The announcements all went fine, then I brought out the food, in the exact order Anne asked for them. Everything went fine. Smiles all around. Everyone thanked me when I refilled their drinks, or set something new in front of them. Even Anne and the twins did. Brigid even smiled at me! It was a miracle. After the main course, I brought out the dessert. Anne had Mrs. White make jello, in these fancy glasses with a perfect dollop of whipped cream atop each one. They were so beautiful! Mrs. White even threw in an extra one for me. I really like her. After they all finished eating, they stood up and went to various rooms on the first floor. I went and flipped on the music option on the pager. Then I had to clear all the dishes.
I stacked them all in the sink and grabbed a tray, several glasses, and a bottle of champagne. I had learned a long time ago, fill the glasses when you get to the person who wants some, it's a lot easier than carrying full glasses around. After everyone had their first glass, I just had to fill them, which was a lot easier. I even had some time to go in the kitchen to get started on the dishes, so I wouldn't have to do it all later. I liked this group of guests better than most of Anne's groups. Maybe they were just showing me more respect because I was looking so nice. Thank God for Nudge and Ella.
A little after 10, I was in the kitchen. I only had a few more of the jello glasses to clean. That was where I was when a boy, no, a man, walked into the room. He was breathtaking. He was wearing a white suit with a black tie. He had a simple black mask on, but I couldn't tell who he was. That was usual, though. I didn't know many of Anne's friends, and didn't really care to. But this man, he was tall, and very handsome. His hair was slicked back, real professional like. Why was he in the kitchen?
"Excuse me, sir? Do you need something?" He didn't say anything, he just shook his head. "Then shouldn't you be in the dining or living room? Enjoying the party?" Again, he shook his head. Then he walked towards me.
He spoke in a really low voice, not one that I recognized. "I was trying to find you. I saw you earlier, and wasn't able to speak with you."
"Oh, really? Why would you want to speak with me? I'm just the help."
"The beautiful help. I think I should probably go back out there before someone notices my absence, would you join me for a dance?"
"I don't know if I'm allowed, but if you go ask Anne, and she says yes, I would gladly accept."
"Okay, I will. I will be back soon, mademoiselle." He kissed my hand and went to find Anne. That made me remember Fang. I turned back to the sink, trying to finish quickly so I could put these away and go back out to the party. I wondered how much fun Ella, Iggy, Nudge and Fang were having without me. Probably loads. It was probably good I wasn't there. I hope Fang was keeping an eye on Iggy and Ella. I got everything done before the strange man came back in. "Anne was hesitant at first, but then she said it was okay with her, beautiful."
"What was the catch?"
He sighed. "She said I had to dance with her two daughters first. They were horrible. That is what took me so long." He led me into the dining room where there weren't as many people.
"Oh, I am terribly sorry about that. She doesn't like me very much, I'm surprised she accepted at all."
"I'm not, I would have told you she said yes, even if she said no, and I am an irresistible young man, she couldn't say no to me. May I have this dance?" I nodded and he grabbed my hand with one of his, and putting the other on my waist. I put my other hand on his shoulder. "Do you know how to dance, gorgeous?"
Did he really just call me gorgeous? Who was this man? "A little bit. My father taught me when I was a really little girl. My sister and I used to dance around the house in silly costumes while he played guitar or piano. We would sing. I miss those days."
"You miss your father, or you miss being a little girl?"
"Both, they are each dependent on each other, I can't have one without the other." I figured I would never see this man again, and if I did, Anne would just forbid anymore times. Just like with Fang. We were both quiet for a while. "How do you know Anne, sir?"
He seemed startled out of thought by me speaking. After a moment he spoke. "I am an acquaintance of her daughters. I don't think any of the three of them recognized me behind this mask, which I am thankful for. Please call me something else, I'm not old enough to be called sir."
Three daughters? Is he including me? Does he even know me? "Okay, Mr. Mystery. Is that better? Why are you here if you don't want them to recognize you?"
"That is wonderful. Two of her daughters have kind of an infatuation with me, I came merely because I was invited and wanted to be polite. And, the third, well, she doesn't like me much I don't think. I didn't want them to recognize me so they wouldn't follow me around, like usually. I actually had someplace else to be tonight, but right here, dancing with you, seems much better than the other place." He almost seemed sad when he talked about the 'third daughter'. That must be me, I don't like very many people.
"Oh, does it really, Mr. Mystery? And so you are just another boy that they chase after. And another that I dislike. How many times has Lissa claimed you to be soul mates?"
"Yes, Max. And at least three, to my face. I don't know how many more to her friends." I laughed at this. This man was actually very nice, and funny, along with being extremely attractive.
"You seem fine, behind this mask. I'm sorry that I have taken a disliking to the face you show to the world. Why didn't I see you at the door when you came in, Mr. Mystery?"
"I arrived late, the door was still open, so I just let myself in." I noticed he kept glancing at the clock. It was now a little after 11.
"I have to go make sure no one needs refills. If you are willing to wait, I'll be back in just a few moments."
"Yes, of course." Then he lowered his voice and said more to himself, "I'll wait for you forever." At least that what I thought I heard him say. Maybe it was just the sleep deprivation talking. I went in the kitchen to get the bottle of champagne. I went around the whole first floor, refilling glasses. Once again, everyone thanked me profusely, even Anne and Brigid. Lissa just said a quick thanks and made a motion for me to go away. She was sitting on a much older man's lap, talking, if that's what you call it. When I got back out to the dining room, Mr. Mystery was nowhere in sight. I looked at the clock, it was only 11:11, where did he go? I wished for him to come back.
My first 11:11 wish to ever come true, came true that night. Just moments later, I felt arms around my waist. I quickly turned around, and saw it was Mr. Mystery. "You scared me, I thought you had left me."
"Oh, no, mademoiselle. I was just scouting out a quieter place for us to go." Was he suggesting what I thought he was?
He must have saw the look on my face and understood it. "Oh, no. That did not come out correctly. I just meant someplace where Lissa, Brigid, and Anne would not be able to find us to take you away. Would you like to come out on the back porch with me?" Good, I was positive he didn't seem like a creeper, at least this version of him. He took me by the hand and led me out the back sliding door. Shouldn't I be leading him? This is my house. Again, he took one of my hands in one of his and put the other on my waist. We assumed the same position as when we were dancing before, except a little closer. We danced in the silence for a little longer.
"Mademoiselle, surely you have someone special in your life. Tell me I'm taking this spot just for one night."
"No. I thought I had someone, but then my step mother stepped in."
"You mean, Anne?"
"Yes. How do you know that?"
"Max, I know more about you than you think. We go to the same school."
"Is this the part where I have to guess who you are before midnight, when you'll disappear from my life forever?"
"Well, mostly. But if it gets too close, I'll give you more drastic hints. I don't think I could go forever without you, now that I've met you."
"Give me more hints. The only boys I know that Brigid and Lissa both chase after are Dylan and..." I trailed off. I couldn't say his name.
"Max? Are you going to finish that thought?"
"No, I don't want to play this game anymore." I saw him check the time again, before I turned around. Anne was also terrified of being late, so we had clocks everywhere, including outside. It was nearing 11:45.
He turned me back around, and when I looked back him, he was looking down at me with beautiful, open, black eyes. They were shimmering. They were, "F-mmph." He didn't let me finish. He kissed me. Full on. I had never kissed anyone, not really, before. But it was wonderful. I got lost in it, in him. I don't know how long we stayed there, kissing. He pulled my mask off, but when I reached for his, he pulled me closer to him, both hands on my lower back. I traced my fingers up his very muscular arms, behind his neck and into his gelled hair. We must have been there awhile. We pulled back for air multiple times. After about the seventh time, he pulled all the way back. Once again he looked at the clock, it was three minutes to midnight.
When he looked back at me, sadness was in those eyes, though they were harder to see when he had the mask on and wasn't looking at me straight on. "Mademoiselle, I will see you soon, but for now I have to go. Don't speak of this to anyone. I know that Anne forbid it, but I can't live without seeing you. Goodbye, for now, Max." With that, he ran down the steps of the porch and around the house. I tried to follow, but in these heels, he was too fast for me. He ran down the street and got into a car that sped off around the corner.
FAX FAX FAX FAXY FAX FAX FAX! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Too bad Fangy had to leave! He'll be back, right? So, I have one more for sure chapter. Then, it's up to you guys. I can either end it, or keep writing for a while, or end it and make a sequel, which can hopefully start going up after New Years. I also have started another story, and the summary is as follows:
The five older members of the flock are all leaders of different gangs in Bastidor, AZ. None of them have ever actually met face to face before one terrible night. Could one fight change this town forever? Could romances form between the rival gangs? Read to find out!
The only problem? I don't have a title for this story, so if you have an idea, review or PM me or something! I don't know when this one will start going up. I am also open to some suggested pairings and other plot stuff in this new story, so if you have a great idea you want to see in my story, especially if it hasn't been done before, or at least not a lot, let me know! Sorry for such a long AN! Please let me know your opinions asap! See you next week kiddos!
