Happy Endings pt 2

Megami's POV

"Mama's going to be okay, right?" The small voice of my 7-year-old sister asks me as she sits down next to me on the couch. My entire family waits in the living room and kitchen.

Aunt Audrey and Aunt Lauren gather in the kitchen with Master Splinter, cleaning the dishes from dinner and probably sitting down to wait over cups of tea.

I sat in the living room with my sister, my cousins, Abby, Uncle Mikey, and Uncle Raph.

My dad was in Uncle Donny's lab with him, my mom, and Aunt Mia.

Painful cries can be heard coming from my uncle's laboratory.

I wrap my arms around my sister. "Of course she will be. I think you forget that she's done this twice before."

"Hey, we're here!" A voice suddenly yells. I look over to see April and Casey rushing into the lair.

"Mom, Dad!" Abby stands from her spot by me and rushes to her mother.

"'Bout time ya guys got here," Uncle Raph states.

"How is she?" April asks as she hugs her daughter. Uncle Mikey is about to answer her question but a creaking door diverts out attention. My dad walks out of the lab, rubbing his eyes and sighing.

Kimi and I quickly stand. I walk over to him quickly while Kimi follows after me. We engulf him in a hug.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

He sighs once more before dragging us over to the couch. Aunt Audrey, Aunt Lauren, and Master Splinter come in from the kitchen.

"Donny's taking her into emergency C-section. Her…" Another sigh. "Her blood pressure just keeps rising and rising. He thinks it'd be a bad idea to go naturally." Aunt Lauren, Aunt Audrey, Master Splinter, and April look back and forth to each other in worry.

"What's that Daddy?" Kimi asks, her eye ridges burrowing together. He sat down on the couch and pulled her onto his lap.

"It just means that Yoshi is coming into this world another way. But everything will be fine."

Suddenly, frantic yelling could be heard coming from the lab. The door flew open, and Aunt Mia stepped out.

"Leo!" She yelled. My dad put Kimi on the couch and then rushed off towards the lab, slamming the door behind him.

I jumped off of the couch, knowing something was wrong. I ran towards the lab, ignoring my family members screaming my name.

"Whoa! Slow down, Meg. You gotta stay here!" A voice calmly told me as they caught up to restrain me. I try to move out of my Uncle Raph's grip.

"I want to help her." I growl.

"You can help her by stayin' out of the way so Donny can do his job." He responds. He finally lets me go and spins me around. "Everything will be okay, Meg."

I stare at him for a moment before shaking my head and heading to the dojo.

I take out my single blade katana and start doing my katas.

I'm frustrated. And confused. This is what I do when I feel negative emotions.

I fight.

"Ya know, ya remind me of me when I was your age." A voice states from behind me. I don't have to break my kata to realize its my red clad uncle.

I keep my focus ahead.

"Whenever yer dad 'n I got in a fight, I would find myself here taking my anger out on tha poor punchin' dummies." He comes into my line of vision and admires a scratch embedded into the wall. "This little line came from a time I tried to behead yer dad." He chuckles. I narrow my eyes at him, not exactly understanding how that was funny. He chuckles more. "Ya definitely inherited your dad's sense of humor."

"Dad says I got my stubbornness from you."

He laughs.

"Well, ya got if from one of us."

I guess I was too much like my dad. Sometimes Uncle Raph really pissed me off.

"What do you want, Uncle Raph?"

He shrugged. "Was just comin' ta see if ya were okay."

"What do you think?" I finally stopped my kata and turned to face him.

"I know I'd be pretty ticked if I were you." He replied. "But ya have ta let them do what they can Meg. Ya wouldn't be able ta help even if ya went in."

"You don't know that."

"And ya don't either."

My uncle and I glared at each other for a few minutes. Sometimes, I couldn't believe the nerve of him. He was worse than my dad at trying to cheer me up. Yet… He always told me the truth. Which was normally what I need to hear.

I sighed. "I-I…" I swallowed back my pride and tears. "I'm scared, Uncle Raph."

He walked over to me and took me in his warm embrace.

"We all are."

"What if… What if she…"

"Nothin' will happen ta her. Everythin' will be fine." He reassured me. He let me go and gave me a small smile, which I returned. "Ya know, everyone always asks why yer aunt 'n I don't have any kids of our own yet. I always tell them I have too much time on ma hands dealin' with four, now five, nieces and nephews."

I laugh. "You'd make a great dad, Uncle Raph."

"Oh, I know that already." He chuckles. I sheath my katana and walk out of the dojo with him.

"Meg!" A voice yells at me as we enter the living room. I look up to see my dad sitting on the couch, smiling and holding a little bundle of white blanket in his arms.

"HE'S SO CUTE MEG!" Kimi yells at me with a huge grin.

"Kimiko, shh! Don't scare him!" My dad commands. He then smiles at me. "Come meet your brother."
