[One Week Later…]
Azumi was fitting on Haruhi's wedding dress, and said, "I feel like I am the one being married, not you."
Haruhi raised an eyebrow at Azumi and asked, "And why is that?"
"Because I'm crying and you're not!" Azumi childishly flailed her arms up and down.
"Well you did say you would have a handkerchief to wipe away your tears…" Haruhi tilted her head to the side to speculate if what Azumi was saying was true. As if to answer Haruhi's question, Azumi whipped one out and started to dramatically blow her nose on it, muttering that her sparrow was leaving her nest.
So she was serious… Haruhi thought, sweat dropping.
The door opened to see Mrs. Harumi in her pale blue summer dress. She beamed when she saw Haruhi in her wedding dress and exclaimed, "Haruhi, you look absolutely stunning! I am glad to see that for a change you aren't tired. I wonder why that is?"
"Maybe it is because Kaoru talked Azumi out of giving me six inch heels," Haruhi said.
"Hmm, maybe. But then again, high heels weren't your thing," Mrs. Harumi wagged a finger, "How is your dream of becoming a lawyer going? I know you missed most of high school."
"I'll try to get an admission at a prestigious university. Kaoru won't mind, he said if chasing my dreams makes me happy then he will support me," Haruhi smiled at the conversation she had last night with her fiancé.
"That's good to know. I thought your dreams were ruined," Mrs. Harumi clasped her hands in joy.
"And I am being utterly ignored," Azumi pouted.
"Oh, my apologies, who are you?" Mrs. Harumi asked.
"You didn't tell her?" Azumi made a hurt face to Haruhi, who saw it through as fake.
"Well the best impressions are made when you meet face to face," Haruhi smiled.
"Fine, all right. I am Azumi, and I am Haruhi's sister-in-law. She is mostly like a little sister to me since my real one got killed. She also tries to get out of wedding preparations," Azumi glanced over at Haruhi.
Mrs. Harumi laughed and said, "Well high heels and tight dresses really aren't her thing."
"And you are?" Azumi raised an eyebrow.
"I am Kana Harumi. Mrs. Harumi, you may call me. I was her tenth grade math teacher from three years ago. I gave her a place to stay when her father would kick her out," Mrs. Harumi turned bitter at those memories.
"Hey, that is a long time ago. Let's forget him and live in the present," Haruhi gently smiled.
Mrs. Harumi didn't even realize she was crying. Furiously wiping away her tears she put on her trench coat and said, "Yep! No crying allowed on Christmas."
Haruhi smiled and Azumi giggled.
Azumi cleared her throat and said, "I still have to make her hair."
Mrs. Harumi nodded her head and said, "I must get back to my family. God knows what kind of trouble my children will cook up."
Haruhi laughed as her teacher went through the door. Turning to Azumi, she suddenly quieted down when she saw the grave look.
"Does she know, the rituals that have to happen after you two are wed?" she asked.
Haruhi nodded, "I told her. Over the phone three days ago. She was shocked and couldn't take it, to the point that she wanted to snatch me away. But I told her that Kaoru is where my happiness resides, and she said, that even this sounded so bizarre, she will put up with it. If this makes me happy, then she will smile for me."
Azumi scoffed, "She sounds dramatic."
Haruhi shook her head and said, "She's a human. Like me. Unlike me she is scared of the word 'vampire' and when you mention that word to her, she will think of Dracula, and that is not who vampires are. Just know that once I get converted, there is no turning back. Although my mind is set, she is just worried about me, you know? She was my second mother."
Azumi nodded, and said, "That's understandable."
Sitting down, Azumi curled Haruhi's long hair and applied minimum blush and a slight gloss in her lips. Haruhi had overall natural beauty, so she needed no foundations, mascara, eyeliners, nothing. Just a light touchup and she was set to go.
"I never knew a time like this would come," Haruhi breathed.
"You really changed Kaoru. Before you came, he was cold and sealed off. I never knew, that a personality like the one he has right now, ever existed. He never was open, you know, like Hikaru," Azumi smiled as she put a long veil on top of Haruhi's head. She hung it over her face so Haruhi's face was unseen. Now Kaoru would have to lift it up.
"And most of all, I am so happy to be able to meet you. I want you and Kaoru to be happy together, nothing more, nothing less," Azumi smiled as she handed Haruhi a bouquet.
"Now go. He is waiting for you. Very impatiently on the steps of the altar," Azumi smirked.
The five bridesmaids took their places beside Haruhi and she walked up to the altar. On her way there, she saw Mrs. Harumi smiling at her with her family.
She saw evil Hunny with his wife, who were probably interested in voodoo magic right now.
Kyoya was just burying his head in his laptop and notebook, sparing glances at Ayame, before returning back to work with a smirk
Ayame was kindly smiling at her to go on, and Azumi was hugging her, and Haruhi wondered, how did Azumi get there so fast?
Bringing her attention back to where she was supposed to be, she climbed up the steps to the altar, and faced her love of her life. From underneath her veil, she could tell that Kaoru was as happy as she was, at the moment. She bet he couldn't wait to take off the veil and see what her face looks like. And she knew about the process that was to be held after the wedding ceremony.
Like a normal human wedding, it was customary for them to say their vows.
The priest cleared his throat and the bridesmaids who were standing like idiots, went to sit in the first row, after being glared at by a few rows of people.
"Do you, Kaoru Hitachiin, take this lady to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the priest asked. (A/N: I am skipping the long version)
"I do," he said with confidence.
"Do you, Haruhi Fujioka, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? The priest turned his attention to Haruhi.
In a delicate but blunt manner, she said, "I do."
Then they exchanged the wedding rings, Kaoru putting a ring on Haruhi's wedding ring finger and Haruhi doing the same.
"Speak now or forever hold your peace," the priest proclaimed.
"I object!" an arrogant voice boomed from the crowd. Several gasps were heard. Oh no…it couldn't be… out of all people?
Surprised, Haruhi and Kaoru spun their heads towards Tamaki, whose tux was put on incorrectly: his blazer was inside out, his pants were crinkled, his white shirt was sticking out, his tie was done with a knot, and his shoes weren't polished, and his hair was messy.
"How the hell did you get here?" a dead serious voice came right behind from him.
"I told you I would try to stop the marriage! And you!" Tamaki pointed a finger at Haruhi, "are coming with me!"
In a rude manner, he strode to the altar and pulled on Haruhi's arm, in an attempt to yank her away from Kaoru.
Kaoru, to say he was upset was incorrect. He was, in doubt, furious, and yelled at Tamaki, "Let the hell go of my wife!"
"Wife? Heh, I don't think so," Tamaki pulled Haruhi to his chest and Haruhi scrunched up her face in disgust.
Suddenly a fist collided with Tamaki's head, and he passed out. Haruhi, who against her will had fallen on top of Tamaki, got up and went back into Kaoru's arms.
"Uh, I do think so," Mrs. Harumi cracked up her knuckles and glared at the crowd, "Anyone else object?"
When everyone froze and shook their head, a tap came on Mrs. Harumi's shoulder, and Ayame appeared, who was smiling at the lady.
"Thank you for your generous help. He is an egoistical person who was trying to force Haruhi into an unwanted marriage. Because of your help, I am going to get a heavier punishment imposed on Suoh-san by his grandmother," Ayame smiled.
Mrs. Harumi nodded and went back to her seat, and Ayame, not too kindly, yanked Tamaki by his collar, and dragged him out of plain sight.
Haruhi gave a surprised look at Kaoru through her veil, "How did he manage to get here? I thought he had a punishment."
"Maybe he tried to skip out. He never really is a serious person," Kaoru was still angered by the big fiasco.
The priest was awkwardly shuffling on his feet and said, "I pronounce you husband and wife."
Then turning to Kaoru, he said, "You may kiss the bride."
Kaoru, glad to hear the words, gently lifted the veil, and sucked in a breath when he saw that Haruhi's hair, had indeed, been curled.
"You should have your hair like that more often," he smiled.
"I like straight hair much better. Easier to manage," Haruhi shrugged.
Kaoru smiled, and then sealed his lips to Haruhi's, a promise of their love for each other. Someone in the audience had the nerves to whoop, but then people whistled and a huge wave of applause followed afterwards.
Haruhi sighed. At least Tamaki won't try to wheedle his way back into her life anymore. He had caused enough damage.
[Three Hours Later]
Haruhi was tired. Tired was an understatement. She was purely exhausted.
Going to their bedroom they were to share together on the wedding 'night', she plopped down next to Kaoru. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed her husband was tense.
"Kaoru, what's wrong?" she asked, a little worried.
"You know, we have to seal the marriage, completely," Kaoru tried to craft his words in a nice way, but Haruhi beat him to it.
"Yes, I know. The ritual. I know that. Take your time. I know you seem a little uneasy since the 'incident'," Haruhi said, using air quotations around the last word.
Kaoru visibly stiffened and said, "I still feel guilty for doing it, you know. I couldn't restrain myself."
Haruhi looked at Kaoru, "You know, I know you have been restraining yourself for a long time, ever since you have met me. You don't have to hold back anymore." Saying this, she reached out a hand and stroked Kaoru's face, calmly and kindly.
Kaoru's eyes turned bright red, as his pureblood senses poked him, and he could almost feel the blood pumping underneath Haruhi's palm skin.
"You know that when I do it, you can't turn back. You still have a chance to run," Kaoru looked at Haruhi for any signs of running away.
Haruhi gently smiled and said, "If I ran away, then that would mean I don't love you. I don't care what kind of creature you are. The fact that you have captured my heart is enough for me to love you no matter what. You don't have to hold back anymore."
With that repeated, Kaoru lost his last piece of sanity.
Holding Haruhi in a tight grip, he yanked her chin back, exposing her porcelain neck to him. He licked the spot where the pulse beats the hardest, the spot where he wanted to bite forever.
Sinking in his fangs, by the time he was able to take one gulp, he knew his wife had lost consciousness.
I have to act fast, Kaoru thought. (A/N: I know this is the awakening procedure in VK. But I am twisting the rules and saying that this procedure done by a pureblood can make another a pureblood, a procedure almost never done, to keep the pureblood population in my story, very small, to keep the prestige high for purebloods overall)
He drew his fangs out and sank them into his own wrist, and drew a mouthful of blood. When his mouth was filled, he opened Haruhi's delicate pink lips open, and passed the blood to her through an open mouthed kiss.
When he was sure that she got all of the blood, he forced her mouth closed so in her unconsciousness state, she couldn't just spit up the blood. Pureblood blood is kind of revolting to choke down for humans.
I hope it worked, Kaoru prayed in his mind, please, god let this work.
[Haruhi's POV]
I was in a world of darkness.
I could see nothing.
I then started to feel intense pain. And then I felt something warm and thick being passed to me in a kiss.
Blood.
The blood, unlike most times, was too revolting to choke down right now. Was it because I am being reawakened?
I start to try to spit the blood out of my mouth, but strong arms pin me down to something soft, which I think is a bed, but I can't see.
I feel terrible, like I am being torn apart and melted together to form something new. I am not me, my human form. No, I am not a human anymore.
I am a creature of long, luscious hair, and dark eyes, that turn bright red in bloodlust. I crave blood and I fall weak to bloodlust. My skin is creamy, and my body is well sculpted unlike my scrawny human body. I am not me, like I said.
I am a vampire.
I feel, after all of this revolting pain I was going through: being torn apart and melted together, I was being pulled out of the pool of unconsciousness that I was drowning in.
I open my eyes.
Kaoru is there, with his hand on my chin and another arm trying to pin down my limbs.
I shake my head to motion for him to let go of my chin so I can speak. He does and looks at me with worried eyes.
His eyes widen and he points at something I can't decipher.
"Look at yourself in the mirror…" he breathed out.
I raised an eyebrow but then get up from the bed and go to a full-length mirror in the corner of the room.
My eyes widen.
My body isn't like my scrawny and thin human body. It is well sculpted: I have developed chest, a flat stomach and fleshy thighs. My arms and legs are slender and slim. My hair is much longer, reaching the bottom of my back. My skin is much creamier in complexion and my brown eyes are much darker. Tracing a bloodstain that was dribbling off my fangs…wait what?
Opening my mouth, I saw I had a tiny pair of incisors. A tiny immaculate pair of fangs for attaining my bloodlust. My eyes glowed a bright red, and I sent a glance at Kaoru, and I made my way back to the bed in his arms.
"I really am a vampire," I muttered.
"Not just any. A pureblood," he said.
I looked at him and he answered it, "You are turned into the purest form. You have zero trace of human blood in your bloodstream."
"That ritual…" I trailed off.
"Is forbidden," he answered.
"Won't you get in trouble?" I asked him.
He shook his head and said, "I had to go to the Vampire Council and argue with them for long hours on end for several weeks to be able to marry you. They agreed, and said that I could, this one rare case, perform the ritual."
"Why would they restrain usage of the ritual?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Because if we were able to freely use the ritual, then you can just turn anyone into a pureblood with just a bite and some blood. And then when there is too many purebloods and for the Vampire Council, our prestigious reputation goes down," Kaoru said, "But you were worth it."
I smiled at him and said, "Thank you for everything."
He just pulled me closer, and said, "You're thirsty."
I knew he was right, my throat was burning like crazy. But I waved it off and said, "An hour later. Please don't kill the mood, Kaoru."
He chuckled and pulled me in closer in a hug.
"Now you are mine. Are you scared?" He asked me.
"My answer will be no, no matter how many times you ask me," Haruhi was now getting irritated with the constant question.
"Thank you," Kaoru murmured in my ear.
"For what?" I asked. What could he need to be thankful for? He gave me a home to live in.
"For coming in my life. Azumi probably told you why," Kaoru smiled at Haruhi, hoping desperately that Haruhi would say no.
Haruhi giggled and said, "She did."
Kaoru grumbled and said, "Sometimes Azumi has a big mouth."
Haruhi giggled and said, "But I can't live without her."
Kaoru smiled and said, "Now sleep my love."
Haurhi was about to argue but then the pureblood command brought a thick blanket of sleep on her. Watching his wife sleep safe and sound, he drifted into sleep.
