Chapter Three: The Big News
It was two in the afternoon, and Kim's room was a mess. She had her new clothes scattered all over the place. She couldn't decide on what to wear for her -mystery- date with Ron. She eventually decided on her new A-line short red dress with her black heels and hair tied in a high ponytail.
"Kimmie-cub, Ronald's here!" Dr. Possible yelled out.
"Coming!" Kim responded as she reached for her new bag. She gave herself one more quick look in the mirror- fixing her lipstick and rushed downstairs. Her mind filled with questions as to what a surprise from Ron Stoppable could entitle.
"Hey, Ronnie," Kim greeted. she saw Ron standing outside of the door.
"KP" Ron teased. He walked into the house, grabbing Kim close to into his arms and kissed her gently on the cheek. Kim smiled as she knew the threat of a "one-way ticket to lack space probe" was coming in 3, 2, ...
"Now Kim, you and Ron have fun okay? Don't stay out too late remember you have an early shift for work tomorrow" Mr. Dr. Possible said.
"Don't worry Mr. Dr. P," Ron reassured. " I won't have Kim out too late. I will have her back before 10." Ron smiled his signature goofy smile.
Kim looked at the two men in confusion. She never heard her father call Ron, well Ron before. It was always Ronald to him. Now, he even didn't give Ron the same lecture he always gave him about what misconduct with her could lead him.
"Thanks, Dad" was all Kim could say when she felt her hand being yanked.
"Come Kim!" Ron began. "We best be getting a move on before we lose our reservation." Kim couldn't even respond before her whole body was out the door walking to her car.
As Kim was about to enter her car, she noticed the garage door open. Her brothers were inside, messing with some old, worn out...
"Tweebs!" Kim yelled. She closed the door of the Sloth and walked inside the garage. She instantly recognized what the tweebs were tinkering with was Ron's old scooter. " What are you doing with Ron's -?"
"No worries KP" Ron interjected. He grabbed her hand tightly as he continued. "The Ron Man asked your brothers if they can modify my scooter- well what left of it anyway."
Kim anger soon became confusion. She stared blankly at Ron and the tweebs. Didn't she recall Ron speaking to her brothers about remodeling the bike?
"Don't worry, Ron?" Jim said.
"We have wanted to work on this since prom!" Tim agreed.
"We'll have it ready for you tomorrow," The tweebs said in unison.
"Thank dude" Ron thanked. He looked at his watch and nudged Kim again. "Now, let's jet Kim!"
Kim walked with Ron to her car and watched as Ron opened the door chivalry. Kim arched her eyebrow as she stepped inside the sloth. When Ron closed the door, he rushed inside to the passenger seat
"Okay KP, let's get this party started!" Ron said with a huge smile, closing the door behind him.
KP…. Downtown Middleton
As Kim followed Ron instructions to drive to the newly opened fancy Italian restaurant called, Ciao, she couldn't help but wonder why out of all the restaurants to go Ron would have chosen this one.
"Ron" Kim finally said. "Ciao is kinda overpriced. we don't have to go I am fine going to Al's Beverly Hills Cuisine or - "
"None sense, Kim" Ron argued. " Nothing is too good for us. I worked some double shifts - with Mr. Smarty approval- so money isn't an issue. Besides today is a special occasion.
"Oh, and what seems to be the occasion Stoppable? Kim teased. She titled her head slightly to see Ron grin.
"Oh look tunes!" He said, avoiding the question. He pressed the power button for the radio. Once the power was on, one of Ron's favorite songs began to play.
Let's not analyze what I said; I don't wanna be a complicated boy
I can't tell if you're serious
When you are so delirious
Are you just playing me, babe
Is that a yes no or maybe
Yeah
Ron was now starting moving his head and hands back and forth, the way he always does when the song came up.
"I love the Oh Boyz!" Ron sang. "quit playing games with my head. I am a sport, but I'm not a toy..." Kim laughed and started singing along with him as well...
KP….. Ciao
"Stoppable, party of two," Ron confirmed with the hostess on duty. She looked down the list and marked off some names before smiling at the crime duo.
"Thank you Mr. Stoppable, come right this way."
Ron escorted Kim to her seat and sat across from her. Kim looked around in amazement. It was more beautiful than she thought a restaurant could be. The chandeliers, the paintings, the aromas coming from the kitchen, everything seemed too perfect.
"Let me know when ready to order," The waitress said.
"Can do, Thank you" Kim replied. Once the waitress left with their beverage orders, Kim grinned at Ron. She touched his hand and locked it into hers.
"Ron," Kim said. "Spill already, what's the secret?"
Kim saw the excitement in Ron's eyes. She knew this had to be something big!
"Ron," Kim said again.
"Okay-Okay" Ron said before placing his menu down. He grabbed both of Kim's hands and smiled. "I was going to wait until after dinner to spoil the news but assuming you would not let me enjoy our food, I'll tell you. But-"
"But?" Kim questioned.
"But you must answer this question completely honestly. Did you finally decide what college you wanna go to?"
Kim sighed. This was a reoccurring topic for Ron and her. She was accepted to many Universities, some of which she didn't even apply. Compared to Ron, she had options on where she was going to continue her education, and it freaked both her and Ron. She had dreams of studying abroad for school, but after graduation, Kim decided to stay local. She decided to attend Middleton University in the fall semester despite Ron's wild efforts to change her mind.
"Ron, I told you for the millionth time I am going to Middleton U," Kim said, annoyed. " We've been over this. There isn't anything you can say or do which will change my mind."
"I know -I know, but I just want to make sure you are doing it for your benefit and not because you think you might miss out on things here."
" Believe me. I decided this the moment we stepped foot on that graduation stage."
" So I guess we will see each other at school" Ron smirked.
"Uh?" Kim said. Ron grabbed his acceptance letter from his coat pocket and handed it to Kim. Kim arched her eyes and gasped. She smiled with a little tear down her face.
"Oh, Ron!" She said." I'm so proud of you! I knew you could do it!" she wiped off the bottom of her eyes.
"Yeah, I know you did," Ron kissing Kim.
KP….. Downtown Middleton
"Business and Culinary?" Kim asked. She had herself wrapped around Ron's arm. She let her head rest on his shoulder.
"Yeah, It's been a dream of mine to open a restaurant. While- ever since the whole Home Ec sitch. Remember how good I was?"
"How could I forget, If it wasn't for you tutoring me I think I would have had to take it again. Wasn't one of my finest academic moments." They both laughed.
"And you?" Ron asked.
"What about me?" Kim replied.
" Your Major, you finally decided?" He asked.
"Oh well, I narrow it down to three, International Law, Psychology, or go into teaching - maybe English or history."
"I guess you can do all three" Ron suggested.
"Ron I highly-" Kim thought about it. "Maybe you're right."
"Of course I am. Look, KP Don't sweat it. Why don't you take some classes from each field and see which one you see yourself wanting more in? It is okay to be undecided you know."
Kim stopped. Ron turned around, and before he knew it, he was pinned onto the brick wall. Kim grinned. As she kissed him, They both wrapped themselves in each other.
"Thanks" Kim softly replied.
Ron, slowly catching his breath shined his goofy smile. "Hey- No big, right?"
As the night progressed, the walk the crime fighting duo came to a halt once more.
"Ah Good times," Ron said putting his hand on Kim's shoulder bring her closer to him.
They found themselves at their old Pre-school. Kim nodded as she placed her head on his shoulder. She thought back to the day she and Ron met.
"Who would have guessed I would have found the man I loved at an early age," Kim stated. They laughed but stopped once Ron noticed the playground gate was unlocked.
"Hey check it out KP," Ron said. they both walked to the unlocked gate and swung it opened.
"Guess the groundskeeper forgot to lock the gate" Kim observed.
"I suppose it is our lucky day," Ron said. he turned to Kim reaching out his hand towards hers.
"Since someone oh so carelessly forgot to lock the gate. why don' you and I go inside, for old time sake?" Ron suggested.
Kim thought about for a moment before taking Ron's hand and entered the Pre-school's playground. Kim looked around as she let her memories flow. She remembered how on her first day she was waiting for the birth of her baby sister, instead soon will found out it would be two baby brothers.
"KP, do you remember when we met right after nap time?" Ron asked in a teasing tone looking at Kim.
Kim nodded at Ron giving him a smile as she remembered her younger self-playing ball while Ron was sitting by the tree.
"Of course I do! Right over there," She said as she pointed at the tree where Ron gave her back the ball. They walked towards the tree. It was not until they reached the tree where Kim noticed Ron was on one knee. Kim gasped in surprised. She saw Ron's goofy smile with sensitive eyes.
"KP, we have known each other for thirteen years now, " Ron began. He saw Kim's hands covering her mouth. Her eyes were being to water. "You always were my rock, my best friend and always there with me throw thick and then. I… couldn't imagine anyone else who I would rather spend the rest of my life with. Ever since graduation, you showed me…I can't live without you."
Ron took out the box which contained the ring. "Will you, Kimberly Ann Possible, my KP, do me the honor of being my bride… will…will you marry me?"
She could hear Ron was nervous throughout the whole proposal, did he think she would say no? Kim couldn't begin to describe how much joy she felt, as she let the tears started to flow through her face when Ron opened the box to see the gold diamond ring.
"Ron, I…" Kim said choking up.
"Aw man, I knew it. Why did I think you would say…." Ron said.
In the middle of his sentence, Kim passionately kissed Ron, leaving Ron dumbstruck with a goofy smile on his face.
"Yes, my answer is yes Ron!" Kim said kissing him again. "Nothing in this world would make me happier than being your wife. Yes, a thousand times Ronald Stoppable."
Ron lifted her up as they continued to kiss.
"You're weird" Kim began. "But I love you."
