This one was way too cute to pass up, like seriously. I hope I wrote this one ok because like, just read it! It's adorable haha.
Imagine your OTP in a high school setting, passing notes back and forth in the middle of class. Person A has an enormous crush on Person B, but is very shy about their feelings. The topic comes up in the note, and Person B begins pressuring Person A about who they like. Person A decides to drop some subtle hints, blushing madly with every word they write. Upon retrieving the note, Person B immediately recognizes that they are the person in question and gets flustered, since they feel the same way about Person A. They awkwardly convey their feelings in the note, hesitantly passing it back to Person A, who gets just as flustered when they read it. After class, they meet up to better confess their secrets, which leads to a steamy makeout session. When the bell rings, they quickly straighten their hair and clothes before walking to their next class together, holding hands. They then spend every class period for the rest of the day passing love notes back and forth.
"…and you see, if you divide the number on the left by the number beside it, you will get your answer! Now…"
Ryder snuck a glance over at the girl next to him, watching her eyelashes flutter every time she blinked and the way her chin was propped up on her hand, her pinky running over her lips.
He couldn't help but smile at how bored she looked with this whole class. Ryder didn't blame her, he was pretty bored as well.
It was close to the end of the year, and there were no upcoming exams or assessments so there was really no need to pay attention to anything the teacher said. Plus math was just the most boring subject ever and it was impossible to pay attention for over an hour.
There was still half an hour left of the class and Ryder knew he'd probably get caught if he tried to have a whispered conversation with his best friend next to him, so he opened his workbook to the back page and scribbled on the top corner.
Hey Marley
He passed it to the girl next to him and watched as she looked down, confused and read over the note. Ryder couldn't help but notice the little smile that grew on Marley's face. She was so beautiful when she smiled. Ryder could feel his heartbeat speeding up just at the sight of her.
Marley got out her pen and wrote just underneath his first note, passing the book back slowly, to make sure she wasn't going to get caught.
Hi Ryder :)
Ryder looked up at her briefly and found her smiling at him. She blushed and looked away, back to the teacher so she didn't look suspicious.
Before Ryder wrote his next note, he took a look up at his beautiful best friend and stared at her eyes, focused on the blackboard out the front of the room. They were a bright shade of blue – so bright and so beautiful. Ryder would have stared at them all day if he could have without giving away that he had the world's biggest crush on her.
Marley wouldn't like him back, though, he knew that. Because Marley Rose was just perfect and he was just… Ryder Lynn. Boring old Ryder Lynn.
He shoved the book over to her.
Are you actualy paying atention or just pretending?
Ryder knew he wasn't the best at spelling – his dyslexia was to blame – and he was just hoping that Marley could understand what he wrote.
She passed the book back to him, along with her blue studded pen sitting atop the page.
No – this is boring as. You're not paying attention obviously.
He smiled at the note and picked up her pen instead of his own, writing underneath her message. Her pen was really uncomfortable to use, but it was warm and he wondered if holding her hand would be just as warm as holding her pen.
Of corse. Whats the point anyway? Btw how do u right with this pen?
He dropped the pen on the paper and pushed the book to her. She read over the message, nodded and wrote her reply before quickly shoving the book back to her best friend.
You're right, I see no point. And I don't know how I do it – I'm just that amazing I guess.
Ryder read over the note and was about to respond when Marley took the book back, adding her own thing to the end, adding a little heart at the end.
Also Ryder, I've been wondering this for a while: who do you like? I'm willing to set you up with anybody! Remember that!
As soon as Ryder read the message, he felt his stomach drop. He couldn't tell her who he liked – it was her! He couldn't confess his feelings to his best friend because she wasn't going to like him back. It was simple, Ryder knew, and it broke his heart every time he thought about it.
I like someone but Im not telling who becoz u will judge me.
Ryder tossed back the book and anxiously watched Marley's expression – it was molded into a frown, confusion in her eyes, her eyebrows also raised.
Ryder, I'm your best friend? You can trust me, you know. You never know, I might even tell you who I like!
It now felt like his stomach was going to come up his throat and was going to walk away, pulling the rest of his insides with it. Marley Rose liked someone… and it sure as hell couldn't be him. Marley would never like him because she only saw him as a friend, and he saw her as so much more.
I just dont feel confortabl telling you this Mar.
He passed her his pen and sent her a small smile.
Drop some hints then pls
Ryder looked up at Marley and saw the cute little smile on her face, slighting hidden by her hands in front of her mouth. She was pleading him to drop hints, and he couldn't help but give in.
Shes smart and kind and loves to just be amazing.
He tossed the book to her and watched her as she read the message. He heard her scoff lightly as she read over the words on the page before she sent it back to him.
More detail, Ryder. Every girl can do that. Make it unique and describe her how she would want to be described.
Ryder let out a sigh after he fininished reading the sentence and gave Marley a concerned glance. He really, really didn't want to tell her anything because she would know if it was her or not.
"Please?" She whispered, covering her mouth with her hands and biting her finger lightly, almost anxious. Ryder gave in, nodding slightly and putting his pen to the paper.
He couldn't believe he was really doing this.
Shes beatiful – she has the most beatiful eyes and the pretest hair and the longest legs. Shes a good friend of mine too. She is a little bit shorter than me and im sure we would make a good pair togher.
Ryder could feel himself blushing as he wrote the details about Marley onto the paper, for Marley herself to see. He contemplated passing it over to her then but decided he needed to write just a little but more.
Shes sexy but really doesn't think she is that sexy – I think she thinks shes worthless but she is really not. She loves to sing and loves kittens and flowers and espeshially Julie Andrews. This girl I like she is perfect and I think I am in love.
He took a deep breath and slowly passed the book over to Marley and watched her as she read the long note, her face turning a light shade of red. Ryder wouldn't have been surprised if his face was the same shade.
Marley wrote something underneath it and bit her lip, pressing her pen to the paper to erase what she'd written. But instead of going with that, she passed the book back over, pressing her face into her hands.
I like kittens and Julia Andrews and I love to sing… either you like me or I have some kind of twin?
Ryder took a deep breath. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest and his hands shaking. Marley knew, didn't she? Marley that he liked her, and obviously she didn't feel the same way.
He wanted to scream and just run out of the classroom to never walk back in.
Its you. I like u. ok?
He hastily scrawled onto the paper and shoved it back over to her, hitting his forehead against the desk and whimpering quietly. This couldn't be happening. It had to be the worst moment of his life.
Marley wrote something and shoved the notebook into his head, getting his attention. He pulled his head up from the table and pulled the book in front of him.
God, are you serious Ryd? Why didn't you tell me about this sooner?
Ryder frowned at the paper – why did she want to know about his stupid crush on her?
Becoz im ashamed of it – you don't like me back so what was the point?
He passed the book back to Marley and looked away, too ashamed to watch her write her reply. He feared what she was going to say – was she going to stop being friends with him because of this? Was she going to just awkwardly accept it and go on? How was that possible, though? Knowing your best friend was in love with you would just make every day so awkward for her.
Ryder let out a sigh. This so wasn't happening.
It was at least three minutes before he got the book back again. Marley shoved it over slowly, hitting his elbow with it. He took a glance up at her before taking the book from her grasp. She had a small smile on her face, but again it was hidden by her hands. Her eyes seemed to sparkle more than ever, but she looked so worried that it made Ryder worry, too.
He looked down at the paper and read over the note, his heart pounding so hard he was convinced the guy on the other side of him could feel it.
You shouldn't be ashamed, Ryder. But then again, I didn't tell you either really. I like you, too. A lot, alright? And well, I kept it hidden from you because I didn't think you liked me back. There are so many words I want to say to you but I don't know how to write it. You're amazing, Ryd, and I like you back… We have to talk after class okay?
Ryder let out a loud sigh and shook his head. What was seriously going on? Marley liked him back? That was impossible to believe.
He passed the book back to her after right a short message.
Ok. Im speechless.
Marley laughed and looked up at him with a small smile on her face. She shook her head in his dirction before shutting the book and passing it back over to Ryder, her hand purposely brushing his. He couldn't help but smile.
Marley liked him back.
{x}
It was about fifteen minutes before the class ended and that whole time, Ryder was anxiously fidgeting in his seat. He couldn't wait to the end of class just to have that talk with Marley. He needed to talk to her desperately.
The teacher dismissed them and Ryder stood as quickly as he could, collecting his books, keeping his eyes on Marley's face.
He could feel the butterflies in his stomach – the nerves were slowly building up inside. He really needed to find out – did Marley really like him back as much as he liked her?
Ryder ran out of the door and leaned against the lockers. Marley came out fifteen seconds later, cradling her books close to her chest. Her smile was small, her teeth showing only slightly. Her face was also bright pink, her eyes standing out against her skin.
"Hi, Ryder," She whispered, shuffling forward towards him and rubbing her knee against his. "Um, I don't know what to say but-"
Ryder took the chance. He leaned forward quickly and pressed his lips against hers, his left hand caressing the side of her face softly. His nose was pressing against her soft cheek and he could feel how hot her skin was – she must have been really, really nervous.
He pulled away a couple of seconds later, panting for breath. He watched her flustered face and her ajar mouth, watching her blink a few times. She was stunned by the passionate kiss, obviously. "I'm in love with you." Ryder muttered.
"I'm in love with you, too." She whispered, bringing her hand up to his hair and running her fingers through the side of his Bieber cut. His hair was so soft, and she never realized it until now.
"Are you serious, though, Mar?" Ryder asked, scanning over her face. "I mean – do you really love me? It's too good to be true."
"I'm serious," her voice was quiet, but not unsure. She was serious about this, but it hadn't sunk in yet to him. Marley Rose loved him back.
Before anything further could happen, Marley ran away to the other side of the corridor where the janitor's closet was, the key hanging from the door by a lanyard. She fumbled with it, her books still in her grasp before the door opened.
"Ryder, quickly," Marley urged, dropping her books on the ground in front of the door. She waved for him and smiled. Ryder eagerly nodded and rushed forward, dropping his books on top of Marley's and sneaking into the closet.
Almost as quickly as he snuck in, Marley was pressing him up against the wall and kissing him roughly – rougher than Ryder had known Marley could even handle. She had him pinned to the back of the door by the chest, her hands tightly gripping her shoulders.
Ryder's hands hung loosely by his sides, unsure where to put them. He eventually decided on placing them on Marley's hips, tugging her closer (if that was even possible) and giving her a sloppy kiss across the mouth like she was doing to him.
Marley pulled him off of the wall and spun around in a circle, slamming herself against the door. She reached her leg up and wrapped it around Ryder's waist, her foot rubbing against his butt. She could feel her heart pounding harder than it ever had.
Kissing Ryder was the best feeling in the world.
Ryder slid his hands up from her waist and to where her ribs were, his fingers digging into the skin through the shirt, possibly leaving marks on her.
He pulled away briefly, not taking his hands from her and kissed down her cheek and to her neck and down her shoulder where the singlet strap was. He bit on the cotton strap and tugged it slightly, letting it hit her skin once more. It made a whipping noise and Marley gasped, letting out a breathy laugh.
She ran her fingers over his neck and into the back of his hair. She rubbed her fingers over his scalp as he left soft kisses on her neck and shoulder. He was slowly moving towards her collarbone when a loud bell rang through the school, signaling the next class.
Ryder frantically pulled away and brushed down his shirt, staring at Marley in front of him. Even with messed up hair and slightly smudged make-up she still looked so beautiful.
Marley smoothed down her skirt, taking her leg from around Ryder and wiping the back of her skirt. "You're so hot, you know that?" Ryder muttered, pulling Marley from the door and opening it. He lead her outside and bent down to pick up his things along as Marley's.
He handed it to her and she smiled gratefully, wiping up the saliva on her neck. She laughed and thanked him, beginning to walk down the hallway again. She reached across to grab his hand and took it in hers, swinging it back and forth in between them.
"I love you so much… I can't believe it took us this long to confess our love for each other," Marley murmured, ducking her head and staring at Ryder's feet. "I mean, how long have we actually had the potential for a relationship?"
"A couple of years back." Ryder replied as they entered the classroom, the teacher beginning the lesson already. Ryder pulled Marley by the hand to the table right in the back corner of the room, never letting go of her hand.
It was five minutes into the class when he finally let go. Marley was disappointed that he had decided to let go, but she immediately felt that disappointment go when Ryder shoved his notebook in front of her again.
I 3 u.
