Kindness ch. 10

Hinata leaned back into the couch and turned on the TV. Man, raising her teenage sister is a lot. Hinata was about to watch some TV when someone knocked on the door. Hinata got up to open the door. She opened the door and froze where she stood. She thought she'll never see him again.

"G-Gaara-kun?"

There was a man with shaggy fiery red hair, fair skin, a kanji tattoo of the word love on the left side of his forehead, bluish green eyes and black rings around his eyes. He looked like he haven't been sleeping lately but Hinata knew that Gaara suffers from insomnia. Gaara is Hinata's ex-boyfriend and she hasn't seen him in a year but he is always sending her letters and flowers.

He has taking over his father's company in America and moved away. Hinata met Gaara when she was in 7th grade and he was really quiet. She was really quiet that was one of the reasons why they got along so well. Hinata wasn't as confident then as she is now and Gaara boosted it. He would protect her from the bullies that would bother her.

Gaara is very sweet person and protective of his friends. They talked a lot about their dreams, hobbies, and interests. Gaara wanted to prove to his father that he could run their company when he comes of age. His family runs a hot spring company and wants to expand it across the world. Hinata believed that Gaara would be great tycoon and boss.

Most people don't know this but Gaara is an excellent sand sculptor. He can make any kind of sculptures out of sand. He made Hinata a cat sculpture and still has it to this day. Gaara and Hinata began to date in 9th grade and Hinata fell hard for him. He was her first for everything. He was her first kiss, first date, first time and everything else.

Hinata was on cloud 9 when she was with Gaara. He was very affectionate with her and only her. Hinata wanted to spend the rest of her life with Gaara but that dream was dashed when Gaara had to move to America to expand his father's company. Hinata was heartbroken about it but she knew that she had to let him go. She didn't want Gaara to pick between her and his family.

Gaara promised to return one day for her. They tried to stay in touch but it become too hard when Gaara took over. Hinata does keep in contact with Gaara's older sister Temari and sometimes Gaara's older Kankuro. Gaara was wearing a dark red V-neck with a black blazer over it and dark blue jeans. He was smiling slightly at her. Why was he here? Did he come back for her? Hinata wasn't sure why Gaara was here at her door.

"It's good to see you, Hina-chan. I've missed you" Gaara said pulling her into hug.

Hinata hugged him back and smelled him a little bit. He smelled like he always did, like peppermint.

"W-When did you get back?" Hinata asked pulling back a little.

"I got back 2 days ago. I wanted to manage the company from here… and I wanted to see you" Gaara said looking at her.

"If you have been here for 2 days then why didn't you come to seen earlier?" Hinata asked frowning.

"I was nervous about seeing you and how you would react to seeing after so long. I stayed up all that time thinking of what I would say to you when I did. Hina-chan, I'm sorry that I didn't keep in touch with you but I missed you more than you know. I was… kinda hoping that we could pick up where we left off" Gaara said nervously.

Hinata was unsure if she wanted to pick up where they off. She's a different person then when she was back then. She has changed and was sure that Gaara had changed too. Hinata was in a relationship with Naruto and didn't want to mess that up.

"Gaara-kun, I'm sorry but we can't. I have moved on and I'm in relationship with someone else. I want to give this relationship a chance" Hinata said confidently.

Gaara sighed. He was hoping that he hadn't missed his chance with Hinata but looks like he did. He should've known that Hinata wasn't going to wait around for him to come back. She shouldn't have to either and he was going have to learn to deal with it.

"Okay, I understand that but we can still be friends, right?" Gaara asked curious.

"Of course, Gaara-kun and I want you to meet Naruto-kun" Hinata said smiling.

She was glad that Gaara had taken it so well but Hinata knew that Gaara was a reasonable person. They were friends first before they were a couple.

"Okay but I want you to have dinner with me. Temari and Kankuro are looking forward to see you" Gaara said smiling.

"Okay, I'll come over around 7" Hinata said smiling. "I look forward to it" Gaara said leaving.

Hinata closed the door behind him. She was glad that her friend was back in town. Hinata had missed Gaara when he left but she knew that she couldn't dwell on him if she was to move on with her life. With Gaara He was driving in car on his way home. He couldn't believe that Hinata moved on without him but it is to be expected. Gaara missed Hinata every day that he was gone.

He never met anyone that made him feel as whole or warm as he was Hinata. Gaara wanted her to be happy even if it's not with him. Hinata was his friend and he wished her the best. Gaara walked into his home to find Kankuro on the couch, watching TV with his feet on the coffee table. Kankuro is taller than Gaara by a good 5 inches, shaggy brown hair, brown eyes, and slightly tanned skin.

Kankuro is 22 years old with a passion for building puppets and he is very good at it. He studied under the legendary Sasori: the master puppeteer. Gaara always made of Kankuro for playing with 'dolls' and the older boy would get mad and tried to beat him up. Their older sister Temari would always have to break up their fights and she is very intimidating.

Temari is 23 years old with sandy blonde hair that always in 4 pigtail and blue eyes. She is a tomboy and loves playing lacrosse. She is dating Shikamaru Nara, a lazy super genius. Gaara hired him to be right-handed man because Gaara trusted him the most to help him with company to keep an eye on him. Gaara is very protective over his sister even though he knows that Temari could handle herself.

"Hey bro, is Hinata coming for dinnder?" Kankuro asked curious.

"Yea, she's coming" Gaara said sighing.

"Why do you seem so sad about it? I thought you like Hinata" Kankuro said confused.

"I do but she moved on and is in another relationship. I was kinds hoping that she was still single" Gaara said flopping on the couch.

"Bro, it's been 2 years and you honestly expected her to be single. Hinata is a beautiful woman and beautiful woman never stay single for long" Kankuro said shaking his head.

Gaara sighed. Kankuro was right… for once.
