Kindness ch. 11

Konan walked into the house with a smile on her face. She just came back from her date with Yahiko and was on cloud 9. Nothing could dampen her mood right now. She finds Hinata in her room and it looks like she was getting ready to go somewhere.

"Where are you going? Got a date or something?" Konan asked curious.

"No, just having dinner with some friends" Hinata said looking at her sister.

"Oh okay, where's the brat?"

"She's in her room, doing homework. I think you two should use this time to spend some time together" Hinata said smiling.

Konan raised an eyebrow at her. Hinata knew that Konan and Hanabi don't have the best sister relationship but they're going to be in each other's lives and they could least get along. She knows that they love each other but wants her sisters to close and be able to talk to each other. Hinata and Konan get along very well and talk about anything.

Nothing was off limit between and Hinata liked it like that. Her relationship with Hanabi could be better but the teen does come to her about some things. Konan and Hanabi's relationship is rocky at best and needs a lot of work. Hinata doesn't want to be the referee between them and they should be able to talk out their problems that have with each other.

Konan wasn't sure if she wants to spend her free time with babysitting the brat of the family. Hanabi always gotten what she wants when she wants it and it made her very spoiled. She thinks that she's entitled to do what she wants and not get in trouble for it and that annoys Konan. She was afraid if Hinata isn't here to stop them from lashing out at each other that they might just kill each other.

Konan knows that she's the adult in the situation but still Hanabi get under her skin. Hinata could see the wheel turning in Konan's head.

"Please Konan-nee… for me" Hinata said giving her the puppy dog pout.

Konan sighed because she knew that Hinata only uses this look if she really wants something and she could never say no. She was really weak when it comes to Hinata and Hinata knows this. She uses it to her advantage and hugs her big sister.

"Pweaseeeee" Hinata said with her bottom lip sticking out.

"Oh god okay, okay just stopping looking at me like that" Konan said frowning.

"Thank you Konan-nee" Hinata said giggling a little.

"Yeah, yeah just be happy that I love you" Konan said rolling her eyes.

"I know and I love you too. I'll see you later but please just don't kill each other"

"I'm not making any promises" Konan said folding her arms.

Hinata shook her head and left. She hopped into her car and drove towards Gaara's house. Hinata was surprised that she still knew where it was but glad that she does. She parked and walked up to the front door. Hinata knocked on the door and was suddenly engulfed in huge bear hug. She was caught off guard but realized that it was Kankuro. Hinata returned the hug and they went inside. She saw Temari in the kitchen making dinner and Gaara on the couch, watching TV.

"Look who's here" Kankuro said smiling. Temari sees Hinata and comes over to hug her tightly.

"Did you get taller since the last time we seen you?" Temari asked smiling.

"Yea, a little bit. It's good to see you again, Temari-chan" Hinata said smiling back.

Temari went back into the kitchen to finish dinner. Kankuro went to his man cave to finish working on his puppets. This left Hinata and Gaara in the living room. Gaara transferred his attention from the TV to Hinata and smiled at her. Hinata smiled back at her.

"How have you been, Hina-chan?" Gaara asked curious.

"I've been good. I'm still doing my community service and painting when I can. How's the company coming along"

"The company's doing well and jets are flying are better than ever" Gaara said nonchalant.

Gaara's company provides jets and airplanes for the public and famous people around the world. Hinata was glad to hear that Gaara is doing well with his company. Gaara sighed and scratches his head. The small talk wasn't helping to relieve the awkwardness that was between them. They used to able to talk about anything but now there wasn't much that they could talk about.

Most subjects that Gaara wanted to talk about may make Hinata too much uncomfortable and she might not want to talk about them with him of all people. Who would want to talk about their current boyfriend with their ex-boyfriend? Hinata knew that things were awkward now between her and Gaara she does want him in her life. He was her friend and she does value his opinion.

"Look Hina-chan, you're my friend and I really care about you. I have to ask you this… is this guy treating alright? Are you happy with him?" Gaara asked serious.

"He is treating very well and I'm very happy with him. You don't have to worry because I can take care of myself" Hinata said smiling.

"I know that but if he hurts you, I'm gonna have to beat him" Gaara said smiling a little.

"I know and I appreciate it… please go overboard with it, okay" Hinata asked giggling a little bit.

"I'll try"

Temari called them for dinner. Hinata and Gaara came to the table. Temari had to drag Kankuro out of his cave by his ear which he wasn't happy about. They eat and talk like they used to. Hinata had to return home before Konan and Hanabi tear up the house. She drove home to find the house in one piece which she was happy about.

Hinata finds Konan on the couch with her chin in her hand, watching a movie. The next thing she saw shocked that crap out of her. Hanabi was sleeping on the couch with her head in Konan's lap and Konan didn't seem bothered by it. What the heck happen while she was gone? Konan sees Hinata.

"Hey Hina-chan, how was dinner?" Konan asked curious.

"It was fine. What the heck happened while I was gone?" Hinata asked raising an eyebrow.

"Nothing, Hanabi said that her stomach was hurting and something about having a headache so I gave her some NyQuil a little while ago. She just fell asleep on my lap" Konan said shrugging.

"Awww you're such a good big sister" Hinata said smirking.

Konan just flipped her off. Hinata chuckled a little.
