"Yes."
"No."
"Come on!"
"Stop asking."
"Aw, please?"
"I said no. Don't give me that pouty face."
"You're going to make your pregnant wife beg?"
Scorpius softened a bit when Rose reminded him of the fact that she was pregnant. The truth was he kept saying no because he was terrified, not because he didn't want to. As a matter of fact part of him was intensely curious.
"I just…" he sighed.
Rose, sensing his resolve weakening, pounced. "I really want to tell everyone tonight, Scorpius. It's the perfect opportunity."
"Wouldn't you rather tell your parents first, then they can tell the rest of your family?" He suggested hopefully.
"No," Rose shook her head. "My Gran will probably be able to tell the moment she sees me anyway. She knew about Roxanne before Roxanne told anyone, did you know that? She can tell just by looking at a woman."
"I love you," he told her.
She chuckled. "I love you, too, but I still want you to come."
"A Weasley family dinner. The subject of many nightmares the past few weeks," he teased.
"I know you're scared-"
"I'm not," he lied.
She grinned, knowing the truth but not wanting to push him into admitting it. "Okay. So you'll come?"
"Of course," he pulled her to him and kissed the top of her head. "Your dad is going to kill me, isn't he?"
She didn't reply.
…
There were many different theories on which types of magical transportation were the safest for pregnant women. Rose suspected that most ways of travelling were relatively safe but Scorpius wasn't taking any chances. After throwing several protective enchantments around a muggle car they drove the two and a half hours from Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire to her grandparent's home in Devon.
"This overprotectiveness is endearing right now," she told him in a stern tone as he drove. "But when the baby is born I expect you to lighten up a bit."
"Not a chance," Scorpius gave her his infamous smirk and she rolled her eyes at him while secretly reveling in the notion that he loved her, and their unborn child, enough to go to such outrageous extremes that weren't even necessary.
"Should we have invited your parents?"
"I doubt they would have come. I think they're still getting used to the idea of being related to your family. We'll tell them after dinner, alright? Er – you can if I don't make it."
She bit her lip in an attempt to not laugh at the fact that her husband was seriously nervous about telling her family that they were now expecting a child. To be fair she herself did not know how her parents would react. She was only eighteen after all.
"Don't worry, I'll be sure to drag you out of there before they finish you off," she teased as she leaned back in her seat and propped her feet up on the dashboard.
"Is that legal?" he glanced at her feet pointedly.
"Eyes on the road, darling," she muttered before nodding off to sleep.
Even though she was only five weeks along (five weeks yesterday, according to the Healer) she'd been abnormally tired the past few days. But she'd only thrown up once two days previously.
Scorpius Malfoy couldn't put into words how happy he felt with his life. He'd never imagined his heart could be so full of love and joy. And it was all because of the amazing witch in the seat beside him.
…..
"You drove here?" asked an incredulous Ron Weasley as Scorpius rushed around to Rose's side and opened the car door for her as she shuffled her feet back into her shoes having just woken up.
"Scorpius's line of work is rubbing off on him. He's developed a fascination with muggle things," Rose told herself that this wasn't a complete lie. They'd bought the car two weeks previously when Scorpius had decided that they were absolutely fascinating machines.
"Oh good, you're here! We were wondering what kept you," said the elder Molly Weasley as she bustled out to the car to hug her granddaughter and grandson-in-law.
As she pulled away from Rose and caught her eye, realization dawned and Molly beamed at her before hugging her again and whispering, "Congratulations!"
Rose raised her eyebrows at Scorpius over her grandmother's shoulder and mouthed the words, "Told you so."
"I'm starving," Scorpius announced as he took hold of Rose's hand and began walking toward the Burrow. "Do we eat inside the house or…"
"Don't be silly," Grandmother Molly chided. "There wasn't enough room before the marriage law. Now it would just be chaos. We have a table set up in the garden."
Hermione and Ron led the way around the house and Scorpius's eyes widened significantly at the sight before him. Every member of Rose's family was present. What was more, they were all seated at one ginormous round table.
Ron took the seat beside George and Hermione sat between her husband and Harry which made Scorpius feel something akin to envy as he watched the famed Golden Trio interact. Everyone knew the three were best friends but it was blatantly obvious with their body language. Scorpius wondered if he'd ever been that close to anyone in his life emotionally. Rose gave his hand a squeeze and he realized that that was how he was around her. She truly was more than his wife; his best friend.
Rose sat beside Albus which left Scorpius between her and Dominique. Conversation flowed easily and Scorpius was surprised to find that it was generally one conversation and very rarely did anyone break off into their own private conversations.
When everyone had finished eating Scorpius breathed a sigh of relief. They were halfway through. Now he just had to survive through desert. The dinner dishes vanished and many deserts replaced them. It was like being back at Hogwarts. Only better because he liked the Weasley family much better than his classmates in Slytherin.
It was one of the rare moments when some family members had broken off into little conversations that he took the opportunity to whisper to Dominique, "I've heard that you're friends with Nathan now?"
Dominique blushed and whispered, "Don't say anything to anyone, please. I know the family wouldn't take it well. Not after…after what happened. To Rose and Norah I mean."
He nodded. "I understand. I'm glad, though, that you're friends with him. I don't reckon he has many friends."
"No," she looked down thoughtfully at her plate of treacle tart and chocolate pudding. "No, he doesn't."
"I hope that one day I will be able to be friends with him, too. Can you tell him that for me? I know that Rose would probably forgive him more quickly than even I would."
"I'll let him know," Dominique smiled at him briefly before turning to her other side and engaging her sister, Victoire, in conversation.
Rose looked thoughtfully around the table at all of the new faces. Heather was there, beside Hugo, looking a bit apprehensive. After Heather and Fred's divorce she and Hugo decided to not hide their relationship any longer. While the family had been surprised nobody was angry about it, least of all Fred's parents.
Fred and Olivia were still secretly dating and Rose wondered if they would ever get around to telling everyone. Vin was there with Lily and it was with relief that Rose noted Austin wasn't in attendance. He occasionally popped into a Weasley family dinner along with his family. Now that Rose thought of it there were many wizarding families who regularly dropped by these gatherings; the Scamanders, the MacMillans, the Finnigans, the list went on.
"Hey, Lou!" Rose called across the table. Louis's head snapped up to face her with a mouthful of chocolate cake. "Where's Verity?"
Louis finished chewing the cake slowly and swallowed hard. "We…uh…broke up."
Silence.
Everyone around the table fell quiet at this declaration and every head turned toward him, waiting for Louis to explain. Louis and Verity had been dating for years and when the marriage law became a reality they were paired together although they had not yet had the wedding before the law was repealed.
"When we were forced to get engaged we realized that it was something neither of us wanted. It was our work in the Department of Mysteries that brought us together. Other than that we really don't have much in common."
"I'm sorry I brought it up," Rose mumbled apologetically.
"It's fine," he gave her a small smile, "she and I are still friends. I'm really okay," he assured everyone as all eyes were still on him.
Scorpius felt Rose stiffen beside him and take a steadying breath. Beneath the table he took hold of her hand in his. "While I have your attention," she said loudly, "There's something that Scorpius and I wanted to say." Her voice cracked on the end in nervousness.
Hugo grinned knowingly at his sister and Grandma Molly's eyes twinkled but everyone else just looked curious. Rose was glad that her Aunt Luna wasn't there because she would have probably blurted out to everyone before Rose had the chance.
I'm a big brave Gryffindor, Scorpius chanted in his head while his bold wife opened her mouth, the corners of which were already pulling up into a smile. "I'm pregnant!"
There were cheers all around her and everyone was yelling things like, "Congratulations!" and "I knew it!" and "Damn, that didn't take long!" and "You owe me ten galleons!"
A moment later everyone quieted down and turned toward Ron and Hermione. Hermione had her hands clasped together in excitement and was on her feet leaning over the table toward her daughter. Ron sat frozen with his fork full of pudding halfway to his mouth which was slightly agape.
"Daddy…" Rose gulped. "Please….say something." She inched her way to the left so her body was partially obscuring Scorpius from Ron's view. With his eyes trained on his father-in-law, Scorpius didn't even notice.
"Ronald," Hermione reprimanded as she realized he hadn't move an inch since the shocking announcement.
Very deliberately, Ronald Weasley closed his mouth, raised his fork another inch, and flicked it across the table. The pudding splattered across Scorpius's forehead. "Welcome to the family," he said with raised eyebrows.
"DESERT FIGHT!" screamed someone, it sounded like Lily, and suddenly all hell broke loose.
Food was coming from every direction at every person there. People were climbing under the table, running across the table, standing on chairs, knocking chairs over. It was chaos.
Stunned, Scorpius didn't even attempt to move until Rose tugged on his sleeve with a giggle and said urgently, "Come on, we're losing!"
That was when he looked down to find that he was covered in the most food compared to the others. Within seconds a chair fortress had been assembled behind which James was telling Leila she should not participate because of her 'condition' and Roxanne was cackling madly while magically multiplying the amount of treacle tart on her plate.
"Duck!" Albus's voice rang out and Scorpius dove under the table just before a pie exploded against the chair he'd been occupying.
"Well?" Rose asked as he crawled behind her on his hands and knees under the table. His palms kept slipping in maraschino cherries and ice cream.
"Well what?" repeated Scorpius.
"Well, what do you think? Isn't this exactly as I described?" she sounded gleeful about this which baffled him.
"It's uh – messier," he decided on saying. "And your family is completely insane. You announce that we're going to have a baby and they attack us with food?"
"Don't you get it?" Rose paused and turned her head to look at him. "This is their way of saying they accept you!"
Right then the tablecloth beside them lifted and Albus popped his head in. "Oi! Not trying to make twins under there, are you?"
"Funny," quipped Scorpius.
"That's not the way it work, Albus-" Rose began but he cut her off.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, Rosie, I just mean that you two should get your arses out here and get involved! Norah is a machine! You should see her launch a handful of Canary Creams that Uncle George snuck onto the table! One landed in Gran's mouth while she was yelling at Uncle Ron for starting another food fight."
Rose and Scorpius followed Al out from under the table deciding to finally join in.
When it finally ended Scorpius couldn't tell you how. One minute he was being pelted with chocolate chips and the next the whole family was laughing at each other, hugging, and poking fun at how silly their loved ones looked.
He turned to Rose and she merely ran a sticky hand through his hair and said, "You look good with dark hair, but I prefer you blonde," he reached his own hand up to find that at some point chocolate pudding had completely soaked his head.
A few cleaning spells later and the place as well as the people was clean. "How are you feeling?" Ronald Weasley asked Rose as he approached the couple.
"Excellent," she said and she meant it. "Happy," she added after seeing his skeptic expression.
When he extended an outstretched hand for Scorpius to shake it seemed to catch both men off guard. Recovering quickly, Scorpius grasped the man's hand, discovering that he was a bit taller than the elder wizard.
"Take care of them," Ron threatened.
"I will," Scorpius promised.
….
"I've got it," Rose held up the documents in one hand as she entered the room. Scorpius was standing by the window with his violin propped up on his shoulder. He hadn't played it since the night he proposed.
The smile on his face faltered as he watched her hand rub nervously on her slightly protruding baby bump. "Where do I sign?" he asked with a sigh as he set the violin down.
"Here, here, and here," she instructed as she flipped through the documents. "There are enchantments on them that activate once both of our signatures are on it."
"I still can't believe Kingsley granted us an exception," Scorpius grumbled. They had talked about this several times over the past couple of months, ever since Rose discovered that she was pregnant. They had reached the mutual conclusion that this was for the best.
"Yes, well, I am Harry Potter's niece and the daughter of Ron and Hermione Weasley. If I want a divorce then the Ministry would bend over backwards to grant me one."
As Scorpius finished signing his name in the last place, right under Rose's, he felt empty inside. This was what he wanted, wasn't it? It was the right thing to do. "Does this make our child a bastard now?" although the comment was meant jokingly, his tone was void of any humor.
"It's not like it matters," Rose replied harshly and Scorpius could only nod his head in agreement with the woman who was now his ex-wife.
"No matter what," Scorpius murmured as he put both of his hands around Rose's pregnant belly, "I love you." He kissed her bellybutton.
Her fingers began playing with the blonde strands of his hair as he rested an ear against her abdomen. "You know," she mused thoughtfully, "I've never had sex outside of wedlock before."
His eyes darkened with lust as he looked up to her. "Do you want to give it a go?"
Rose enthusiastically launched herself at him and the two tumbled around on the floor landing with her on top, straddling him. "Careful," Scorpius groused, "you can't be too rough…"
"I'll be as rough with you as I want," she argued as she began pulling hungrily at his clothes.
"And I'll be as gentle with you as I want," he countered while tenderly undoing the buttons on her blouse.
"Scorpius?" she had paused and he looked up into her face in question. "I love you," she told him sincerely.
The joy in his heart felt like it was going to come bursting out of his chest. He lifted the upper half of his body off of the floor to embrace her properly, kissing her lips lovingly, "As I love you."
….
"Are we really going through this again?" Ron complained a few hours later as the family gathered in the atrium of the Ministry.
"Yes, we are," Rose gazed warningly at her father as she smoothed out her light pink sundress.
"Mrs. Malfoy – er, ah, I guess it's Ms. Weasley again now, isn't it?" chuckled Kingsley as he approached the group, "pregnancy becomes you. You're positively glowing, Rose."
"Thank you, Kingsley," Rose leaned in and kissed his cheek. "And thank you for doing this for us."
"Anything for friends," he boomed happily as he turned to speak to Ron and Harry.
Within moments everyone was crowded into the small room where the ceremony was to be performed. Kingsley himself was the one doing the bonding this time and when Rose and Scorpius said their vows for the second time, both gasped in shock at the sensations they felt coursing through them as a result of the bonding.
"That," said Hermione quietly to her daughter, "is what it's supposed to feel like when you really mean your marriage bonds."
…..
"Married twice in one year," said Scorpius with a yawn as he climbed into bed beside Rose that night.
"Mmm," she was already half asleep. "I'm glad, though. I never thought I could ever be this happy." Normally Scorpius would wrap an arm around her waist and tug her back into his body but he was always so conscious of the baby that he very delicately placed his hands on her hips and guided her backwards into his embrace.
"I quite agree, Mrs. Malfoy," he whispered into her ear before kissing her there.
"Tomorrow," she mumbled without opening her eyes, "when I'm not quite so tired," she paused here to yawn, "I am going to rock your world," before Scorpius could do more than chuckle, Rose was asleep in his arms.
…
Bilius Draco Malfoy was the eldest of Rose and Scorpius's children. But only just. Two minutes and thirteen seconds later his twin brother, Cassius Ronald Malfoy, was born.
Everyone in the Malfoy and Weasley families were at the hospital for the event. "Blimey, I feel like we've been in this waiting room way too much recently," grumbled George good-naturedly as he bounced his granddaughter gently in his arms. Roxanne had given birth to Arianna Mae Saunders several months previously.
Harry grinned at him happily, knowing that he could relate so well to the joy George was feeling as he thought of his own granddaughter. James and Leila had a little girl as well who was now two months old. Phoenix Clara Elizabeth Potter. Leila had wanted boys, it was true, but now that she had her little Nixie she couldn't imagine feeling any happier.
"Are we too late?" panted James as he skidded into the room with a bundle cradled in his arms and a diaper bag slung over one shoulder. Ginny smirked when she saw how frazzled he appeared.
"No, we haven't heard anything yet," said Hugo nervously as he sat with his head between his hands. It hadn't taken this long for Roxanne or Leila to give birth. The Healers had been concerned because Rose had slimmer hips but they were all staying optimistic.
"Godric," groaned James, "if those boys are as stubborn as their mother, then Rose's in trouble."
Everyone laughed and Harry asked softly, "Can I hold my granddaughter?"
James moved to hand the bundle he was holding to his father but he stopped and frowned down at it. "But…where is…" he unfolded the blankets quickly as panic began to set in. Phoenix was not swaddled in the blankets as her father had assumed. "I lost her! Oh no!" he cried.
Leila came into the room then holding her daughter and shaking her head at her husband. "Honestly, James, you would forget your head if it wasn't attached. I have her, she's fine."
"Thank Merlin!"
….
"Are all of you here for Rose Malfoy?" asked a Healer with only slight exasperation as she gazed at the large crowd in the waiting room.
"Yes." They all immediately replied.
"She has given birth to the first baby and the second is very close behind. It should only be a few more minutes."
Ron sagged in relief. "It's a good thing Hermione's in there with her. I can't imagine what Rose is going through right now."
"Rose will be fine," said Harry with pride, "she's a strong girl, Ron. No need to worry."
…
"I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH, MALFOY!" Rose screamed as she gripped him by the collar and yanked his face down so she could yell directly into it.
"I know, baby, and I'm very sorry," he soothed as he tried not to show any fear. His wide eyes glanced up at Hermione Weasley who looked to be torn between amusement and worry.
"You're – er – quite sure it's too late to give her the pain potions?" Hermione asked the Healer.
"Absolutely. Mrs. Malfoy was quite clear that she wanted to experience childbirth as naturally as possible," the Healer replied crisply before addressing Rose. "You need to keep pushing. I know it's hard, but you're almost there!"
"I'VE ALREADY DONE THIS ONCE!" she cried before a sob was pulled from her, then a grunt, and she began pushing again with a strangled scream.
Scorpius held her sweaty hand in his and tried his best not to show her how much seeing her in pain was hurting him. Why had he agreed that she should do this without pain potions? If they ever had any children after this he would demand she take whatever they wanted to give her. Ha. As if he could demand anything of his wife.
"He's here!" cried the Healer as Rose sagged back against the bed and Scorpius half caught her. "Another boy and he looks to be perfectly healthy," the Healer announced as Scorpius moved to cut the umbilical cord.
As he gazed in awe at his two sons, he remembered almost too vividly how Rose reacted when they discovered they were having twins.
"Did you want to know the gender of the baby?" the medi-witch asked as she twirled her wand around and ran it up and down Rose's stomach.
"Yes," Scorpius and Rose said together then smiled at each other.
There was a pause for a few minutes until the medi-witch frowned and said quietly, "Oh…my…"
"What is it?" asked Rose. "What's wrong? I've been feeling a lot of movement lately, and I thought that was a good sign-"
"Nothing's wrong, dear, don't worry," the medi-witch patted her hand reassuringly before clarifying, "It's just…some exciting news!"
"A girl?" asked Rose hopefully.
"Well I'm not sure about the other one, but the one in front is definitely a boy," the witch was beaming at the young married couple.
"The other…the other what?"
"The other baby! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy, you're having twins!"
Rose opened and closed her mouth repeatedly like a fish out of water while Scorpius paled and sank down to sit in the open chair beside the hospital bed Rose was in.
"Well tell the one in front to budge over so we can get a look at his sister!" Rose demanded. She'd had her mind set on having a girl ever since she and Scorpius started trying for a baby.
"Hold on just a tic…" the witch was waving her wand around again before clearing her throat and saying, "It seems that they are identical twins."
"But then that would mean they're both boys," Rose stated.
"Yes, Mrs. Malfoy, it does."
Rose very slowly turned her head toward Scorpius and glared at him with sparks in her eyes. "You," she spat venomously. "This is all your bloody fault!"
"My fault?" asked Scorpius with a chuckle as he shook hands excitedly with the medi-witch. Now that the shock was wearing off he was quite excited.
"Yes your fault!" she screeched.
"Would you like to wait and have this argument at home?" the medi-witch asked pointedly.
"Perhaps that would be best," Scorpius said, unsure why Rose was blaming him for anything.
When they arrived home fifteen minutes later, Rose was yelling again. "Fif-fucking-teen generations of Malfoys all being male! Do you think that's a coincidence, hmm? Do you think it just happened that way? Well I don't! There's some gender curse on your family and now I'm stuck raising two Malfoy boys at once! Do you realize how stubborn and arrogant you lot are?"
Scorpius was barely holding back his laughter as Draco and Astoria entered the room, having been drawn there by Rose's carrying voice. "What is this?" asked Draco conversationally.
"You!" Rose screamed and turned all of her Weasley anger on him. "Is there some…some curse on your family so that only males are born?" she demanded.
Draco looked taken about before frowning. "I'm…not sure. The idea doesn't seem very farfetched…"
"What?" asked Scorpius, having believed such a notion not only impossible but laughable. "Does such a curse even exist?"
"If it did, it would be the Malfoys who used it," said Draco softly. "I shall look into the matter. In the meantime, however, am I to assume that I'll be having a grandson?"
"No!" Rose threw her arms up, "You will not be having a grandson!"
Draco looked to Scorpius in question and Scorpius smiled broadly as he tugged Rose gently into his side and announced, "We're having twins! You're having two grandsons!"
….
After much research it was discovered that there was in fact a cursed anomaly in Scorpius's reproductive system and no X-chromosome sperm were being produced at all. The same anomaly was found with Draco.
With the assistance of Draco, Hermione, and Rose, Scorpius was able to devise a counter-curse and everything in his body was put back to the way it should be. Perhaps, in the future, they would have a girl.
"Look at them," Rose whispered as she stood behind Scorpius with her arms wrapped around his middle and peeking around him at their two sleeping sons. One of the many good things about magical births was that Healers were on hand to get the mother up and moving around almost immediately if things went well.
Bilius and Cassius were sleeping in the same little bed. Originally the Healer had put them in separate beds but Rose had objected the moment she realized her babies had been separated. To the surprise of everyone in the room other than Rose the boys had stopped crying the instant they were reunited. They slept now with Bilius's tiny hand on Cassius's arm.
"They're perfect," murmured Scorpius, knowing that his wife was in complete agreement with him.
"Should we take them out to meet everyone?"
"But look at how peaceful they are!" Scorpius argued. "As soon as they're introduced to our family they'll never have another quiet moment."
Rose very much liked to hear Scorpius say 'our' family. Because they were really all like one big family now. Draco and Astoria had been invited to attend the next Weasley family dinner the following weekend. Although nobody knew if they would accept or not. After all, Scorpius had survived his first Weasley family dinner with minimal difficulty.
Hermione Weasley, who had left the room to give the small family some privacy, popped her head back into the room and said gently, "Everyone is dying to meet them."
"I guess it's time," Rose sighed before reaching down to scoop Bilius up into her arms and Scorpius did the same with Cassius.
Immediately an entire crowd converged on them. The babies were out of their arms before they'd even known who had taken them. Rose watched helplessly as her sons were passed from her father to Astoria to Roxanne to Albus and right on down the line.
"Grey eyes," Draco whispered as Bilius peered curiously up at him.
"Eye colour can change after birth," Scorpius reminded him. Draco nodded and handed the baby over to Lily Potter but they all knew that the twins currently had the exact same eye colour as Draco Malfoy.
"Can't tell yet if they're blonde or ginger," complained James as he closely inspected their bald little heads. "Bit of fuzz, but it's hard to tell…"
Leila laughed and swatted him affectionately on the arm. "Maybe they will be brunettes like their maternal grandmother," she winked at Hermione who looked pleased at the idea.
"You're up next, Al!" James called to his little brother with a broad grin. "I would say it's Freddie's turn to have a kid but he's not married yet."
Albus paled visibly as Norah stifled her laughter with a hand over her mouth. "I don't think we want kids for a few more years. Sorry, James," she told him as the corners of her lips twitched in amusement, fighting a smile.
"Sorry I'm late!" Dominique came skidding into the hospital room with Nathan Zabini right on her heels. "Things came up," she dismissively waved her hand around as her family glared daggers at Nathan. Dominique still had not told anyone other than Scorpius and Rose that she'd remained in close contact with Nathan Zabini.
"What's he doing here?" snarled Bill Weasley.
"He's here because I invited him," Dominique said this firmly as she slid her hand into the crook of Nathan's elbow.
It had been almost a year since they'd first sat down to have coffee together and made amends. Over that time he had proven several times that he was a changed wizard. He had been to see Rose and Scorpius a few times at the Manor while Rose was pregnant. He went as far as helping Scorpius put the nursery together.
He'd written many letters to Norah but had never received any in return. That was one relationship he wasn't sure he could salvage. But he hoped to. In the meantime he'd grown shockingly close to Dominique Weasley.
"Why?" asked Fleur who was genuinely curious as to why her younger daughter would bring someone who was so vehemently disliked by her family to the birth of her cousin's children.
Dominique stuck her chin out defiantly and said proudly, "I've been secretly meeting up with him for the past eleven months. This morning, before I got the message about Rose going into labor, I finally had the courage to admit to myself that I wanted to be with him."
"So you're…dating?" Fred eyed the couple with distaste.
"No," Dominique corrected while Nate's face slowly turned scarlet. "We eloped. We're married."
For the first time since their birth, Rose was glad to have not been holding her sons because she might have dropped them upon hearing this confession. She had known of her cousin's feelings for a while but this was still not anything Rose would have predicted happening.
"Congratulations!" Scorpius proclaimed as he moved forward to pull Nathan into a firm embrace.
"Thank you," Nate said stiffly. He knew Dominique's father was watching him and figured it was the best chance he would have to say what needed to be said. "I apologize, Mr. Weasley, for not formally asking for your blessing. I love your daughter. I wanted to change and become a better wizard and Dominique Weasley made that happen. She made me want to be better. She means more to me than anyone or anything in the world."
Rose was crying quietly at the wide range of emotions coursing through her. Scorpius had an arm over her shoulders, supporting her as she leaned into his side. "What a beautiful day for so many beginnings," she said.
Everyone heard her and at those words Bill Weasley gave his new son-in-law a curt nod. Before the tension had completely left the group, it was George who cleared his throat and asked, "Has anyone else realized that there will be two Malfoys, a Potter, and a Weasley entering Hogwarts the same year?"
Chuckles bubbled up slowly until the small crowd was roaring with laughter at the poor staff who would have to teach the lot. "Merlin help them," said Scorpius with a glance up toward the ceiling.
Rose raised her hand to caress his cheek and when their eyes met they both felt the familiar sensations filling their hearts that they knew would be there forever.
…..
A/N: I feel like the ending was a bit anti-climatic but I wanted it that way because I wanted to show how peaceful and smooth things would be in the lives of the characters from here on out.
I hope the story lived up to all of your expectations and I am SO SORRY it took so long to post the final chapter. Truth is, I didn't WANT this story to end so I kept putting off ending it. But it was time.
There may or may NOT be a sequel. I haven't decided yet. If there is it will not be out for a while because I would like to finish some of my other stories first. Thank you to everyone who was stuck with this story! I appreciate you all more than you know! All comments, questions, criticisms, private messages, etc. are welcome.
If you are looking for other stories of mine to read, I highly recommend The Time Spiral which is actually my personal favorite of my stories. It's an odd pairing, but give it a chance and you won't be disappointed.
Yours,
MofDA
