Alright, editing has been rather successful so far, so hopefully I can keep up this pace with rewriting the chapters. Hopefully I don't hit a bad writer's block once I finally catch up to where I had previously been. I'm hoping to at least rewrite the chapters that are already published in time before school starts. My pace might be slowing down then, but I'm going to try my best to keep this story going on.

After laying in the infirmary for so many hours, I finally began to grow tiresome of laying in the cot. I was in the world of One Piece; there's no way I can let the sense of adventure I'm craving go to waste. I want to explore islands, see things that I never dreamed I would possibly see.. I smiled some at the thought of the possibility that I could see the Straw Hat Pirates in flesh.

Carefully, without making too much noise, I rose up from the bed and looked around the infirmary for a few good seconds. Medical books and other accessories in this room wouldn't keep me occupied for too long, and it was best not to mess with things that I had no idea what they were for. Everything was neatly organized around the room, and I certainly didn't want to be the one messing it up. If I was going to be hitching a ride from these Marines, I wanted to stay on good terms with them; the last thing I needed was to be on everyone's you-know-what list. Carefully walking towards the door, I paused as a shiver ran up my spine from the chilliness of the air in the room.

'I forgot that I still have a small cold from floating in the ocean like that.. Better take a blanket with me, I don't want to be freezing this entire time..' I turned back around, and grabbed the comfortable blanket from the cot I was resting on, and wrapped it around my frail frame. I sighed some, and then turned back around, only to be met with a young Marine looking down at me. I froze some, and just stared up at him before offering a very sheepish grin, wrapping the blanket around myself a bit tighter.

"Is there any particular reason you're leaving your bed so early, Miss? Commander Hirujo had informed us that you were ill; I didn't think that someone could bounce back so quickly." the Marine asked me, simply curious as why I had risen from bed when I was supposed to be resting.

"A-Ah.." I stuttered, becoming much more nervous now that I had been caught in the act. "I-I just wanted to ask you if there w-were any books that I could read... M-Medical books don't seem that interesting, a-and I would like some sort of entertainment while I-I'm stuck in bed.." I replied, forcing myself to give the Marine eye contact.

"A book?" he pondered for a moment, "very well, I'll go see what I can find for you. In the mean time, wait here for me and sit down on the bed. We wouldn't want the Commander coming in and seeing that you're up when you're supposed to be resting." with a small salute, he exited the room and closed the door behind himself, and I let out a long exhale of breath that I wasn't aware I was holding.

"Man, that was too close for comfort.." I sighed some, and decided to sit down on the edge of the cot like I had been told to.

'I wonder if I'll ever return home... I'm almost certain I might be considered dead.. and if they think I was kidnapped, they're going to be looking for someone who doesn't exist in that world anymore.. I wonder what my friends think happened to me.. and my Mom.. God, she's probably worried sick.. either that, or grieving.. what if this is my new home now..? What am I going to do, where am I going to stay, how am I-'

"Miss?"

I quickly snapped out my thoughts, the light returning to my eyes. I turned my gaze to the Marine holding the book for me that I asked him to get for me. Apparently, my brain couldn't remember that I asked for one, making me look like a bigger idiot.

"C-Can I help you..?" I nervously smiled.

"I went and got the book you requested, Miss.. did you not want it anymore?" he replied, and I wanted to smack myself right there.

"A-Ah, no, I do! I'm sorry, my mind is just a little cloudy right now, I forgot that fast that I asked for one.." I took the book from him, and held it to my chest nervously.

"Is there anything else you need?" he asked me, and I shook my head.

"N-No, that'll be all.. T-Thank you.." I smiled at him, before watching him take his leave after a bit, closing the door behind him. I sighed some, and pulled the large book away from my chest, looking at the cover. The words on the front were a bit faded and hard to read, so I shrugged it off and began to look through the pages. There were many pictures on each page with descriptions of whatever may be on the page. I soon realized that I was handed a book about..

"Devil Fruits.." I mumbled, looking at each fruit that was displayed on the pages. My fingers gently traced the edge of the page as I skimmed through the pages, reading the information on each one. So many different fruits.. They were all so exotic and colorful.. I wondered how hard it would be to find another one. Maybe I could..? No, I can't eat one. There's still a possibility that I'll be swept back into my own world, where I belonged. I sighed some, and continued to read through the pages of the book. Looking up some after noticing a slight drift coming into the room, I saw that the window above the cot was a tad opened. Sitting up onto my knees, I peered out of the small circular window. A dense fog was covering the ocean, making things harder to see, such as other ships. I sighed some, and plopped back down onto the bed, scratching at my arm.

"With all these Devil Fruits, there has to be a possibility I could stumble across one.. if I can't live as a pirate, then I'll search for a Devil Fruit and sell it for a good price to have a good amount of gold to start off my living here.." I pondered to myself, and gently closed the window, it creating too much of a chilly breeze for my liking. My eyes went back to the book, and I continued to read about the miraculous fruits of the sea, and soon I stumbled across Luffy's. I smiled some, taking a long look at the fruit, my fingers gently tracing the picture.

"Gum Gum Fruit: The user who consumes this Devil Fruit will gain the properties of rubber. Their skin will take the property of elasticity, and bullets from firearms are rendered useless against them. The user will also be able to stretch their limbs and other bodily areas to their own accord."

Reaching over and taking a small piece of paper from the table behind my cot, I used it as a book marker. I sighed some, and leaned against the wall behind me, and looked up at the ceiling. I wondered when we would reach the next island, just so I could get off.. These Marines were going for the Straw Hats.. The realization soon hit me like a ton of bricks, and I quickly looked out the window after opening it some, eyes frantically scanning. My fears were confirmed once I heard a Marine shout from above the deck, and my stomach dropped.

"We've spotted the Straw Hat Pirates!"

Done another editing session. I think I'm making good progress.
