Continuation of editing; making gradual progress! Now, after this chapter, things might change up from what they've been as of now.
'They've already spotted them?! I can't be on this ship if there's a battle about to go down! I haven't even been here that long, I don't want to end up dying here!'
Panic was surging through veins as I looked out the small window above my cot. My eyes scanned frantically for the infamous Going Merry, but saw no ships on the side I had been looking out. Launching myself off the bed, I quickly scrambled over to the other window near the desk, and stood on my toes to reach. I could make out the faint outline of a ship, but my view was limited, since I couldn't see very much out the window. But just from the shape of the figurehead, that signature ram; I knew it was the Going Merry; the ship Usopp received from Kaya on his home island...
It was only a matter of time before the cannonballs hit our ship; I needed to get off of this ship as soon as possible. Just as I was about to begin making my way to the door and plan an escape route, it slammed open, startling me and causing a squeak/yelp to escape from my lips.
"Miss Lisanna, whatever you do, do NOT exit this room!" Commander Hirujo roared, voice booming with authority. I nodded quickly before he shut the door, and I could hear his heavy footsteps thunder down the hallway. Biting my lip some, I quickly looked back out of the window, but I was unable to see their ship. My eyes couldn't find its outline in the fog, but I knew they were here. They wouldn't back down from such an easy fight, they'd be on this ship any moment now.
"I need to hurry up and get off of this ship before I go down with it..!" I exclaimed, before running back over to the cot I had been laying in. A loud crash above the deck sent me falling to the ground, hearing the sound of wood cracking; it had to have been a cannonball fired by Usopp.. I need to get out of here now! I grabbed the book from the bed; it seemed like such a valuable book, and I wouldn't want it to get ruined when this ship would sink.. if I didn't go down with it. I waited for a few shouting Marines to run past my door, before I opened the door and peeked around, before taking off in the opposite direction that the Marines went in. There had to have been n alternative route to the deck without being seen. I certainly didn't want to be dragged back to the infirmary; if the ship was under attack, did they really expect me to sit there and wait for death?
Turning the corner, I quickly moved myself behind the wall, seeing more Marines running down another hall, armed with weapons. I took a deep breath, before running again once more down that hall. It must've been quite a scene; a teenage girl running down the hall, swinging a book around in one hand while her chest is bandaged up, and wearing skinny jeans with a pair of flats. My hair was still in the bun, it had managed to hold up some, but it was much more messier and loose than I had done it back in my room at home. I turned another corner, and began heading down that hall as well. Despite having a cold, I was still able to run without getting winded as easily as I thought I would. Another crash erupted from above the deck, making the whole ship shake. I slammed into the right side of the hall, gasping some as the wind was knocked out of me. Pain blossomed from my shoulder, but thankfully it was only going to bruise, since I didn't feel anything too serious from within it. Continuing to run down the halls, I turned and soon found a way up to the deck. It probably wouldn't be the smartest idea, but I had nothing left to lose at this point. I'd rather die above deck than below, if I had to decide it.
Going up the ladder, I flipped open the hatch and quickly climbed out. My eyes widened at the sight; Marines being sent flying from all directions, or being sliced down.. Fear began to run through my veins, and soon I heard that signature bellowing laughter that could only come from one person; Monkey D. Luffy. My eyes locked onto the source, and soon I was staring at his figure, him holding his hands on his hips, leaned back and laughing with that wide grin on his lips. The book almost slipped from my fingers, but I kept it within my grasp, as I just stared at him.
Soon I saw a man with bright pale green hair come over to Luffy, holding his swords.. And another man dressed in an all black suit, with a head of blond hair that covered his left eye.. I could tell that Zoro and Sanji were nagging at Luffy, most likely for being so reckless and launching himself onto the ship without a care in the world. My mouth remained hanging open, as I couldn't move or speak. My legs shook some underneath me, as I just stared at the monster trio, them all speaking after Zoro and Sanji gave Luffy a good whack to the head.
"Ah.. who is she?" Luffy spoke, his eyes locking onto me, before the other two turned around. Sanji's eyes immediately bore hearts in them, practically swirling over to me. I bit my lip, and gasped some, my eyes wide.
"She's an angel sent from above~! A goddess who has blessed us with her presence, a true divine being!" he sung out, before taking my small cold hand into his. "Miss, I will protect you for the rest of my life; such a delicate flower as beautiful and divine as yourself shouldn't wander this sea without someone to accompany her.. allow me to be your knight in shining armor~!"
"Quit your babblin', ero-cook." Zoro grumbled, arms crossed over his chest.
"What did you say to me, shitty swordsman?" Sanji turned to him, a menacing glare in eye, tone full of venom. Soon those two began to bicker on and on, and my eyes scanned the deck, before finding Commander Hirujo laying on the ground, defeated. A solid bump was forming on his cheek and face, indicating that either Luffy or Sanji easily knocked him out in one go.. these men were fearsome.. I didn't even notice Luffy walk up to me. He had his wide grin on face as usual. I shifted my gaze to him, looking like a deer in headlights.
"You're not a Marine; who are you?" he asked, grinning.
"I-I-I..." I couldn't form any words, as I stared up slightly at him. He only grinned in response, and offered his hand out to me.
"This ship is going to sink; wanna come with us?"
My whole body continued to shake uncontrollably, before I felt my eyes roll back, and everything went back as I crumpled down to the deck, successfully passed out.
Done! Let me know what you guys think.
