Chapter 8

"It's beautiful here…"

The words were just a whisper which the gentle breeze blow out into the world.

Starscream closed his optics and took a deep breath.

His head had been swept empty. There were no more problems, only the here and now.

The warm evening breeze gently caressed his body and the last rays of the setting sun warmed his armor gently.

Behind him he heard a faint buzzing noise which came from Predaking.

The Predacon lay behind the Seeker, had his front paws elegantly crossed and his wings were laid neatly on his body. In his optics reflected the last light of the sun and he also enjoyed her warm rays caressed his huge body.

So relaxed as at this moment none of the two have been in a long, long time. There were no leaders who said what they had to do and there were no problems to which one had to take care of and there was no enemy that had to be fought. They were free from war and worries that accompanied him...

"I would prefer to stay here forever..." Starscream whispered quietly and he fell on his back with a renewed, contented sigh, holding his optics closed.

"It feels like I'm back on Cybertron. My friends and I have done this many times. Just sit there and stare at the sky, get a clear head. How I miss those times...how I miss my friends...how I miss Cybertron..."

Predaking watched the Seeker silently.

He made not a single sound, but inside he agreed with Starscream.

He missed Cybertron just as much as the Second in Command of the Decepticons himself and he really would give anything to be able to return to his home. But they both knew that this was impossible...that there was no home for them to which they could return. The war simply took everything he wanted...

The Predacon winced slightly as Starscream sat up slowly and pulled him out of his thoughts.

"The sun will be gone in a few moments. We should fly back to the Nemesis, don't you think?"

With a sidelong glance he looked at Predaking and he had to chuckle when the dragon stubbornly shook his head and growled softly.

"I know you don't want to go back. I don't want to go back as well, but if we don't , then we will be punished...well, rather, I will be punished..."

Almost a sympathetic twinkle crept into the optics of the Predacon as Starscream dropped his wings while he had uttered these words. And he wasn't so wrong with it, because it was true what he said. Predaking had to watch it several times now…

Carefully the dragon lowered his head and nudged the Seeker at his back, which again brought a small smile on his lips. Without another word to lose Starscream stood up and turned to Predaking.

"Come on. Let's go back before they starting to miss us..."
