An: I'm trying to get this done without being distracted or Blue screening. I hate it when that happens and I don't know why it does that. I'm growing fond of the ShangMai/Bu Po Lin couple and it's a challenge trying to make the situation for Gong Xi and Lian to fit with the drama and the manga since they're acting as a couple.

Episode 5: Round Five, Stage Two, Part 3

Shang sat in front of his piano, thinking. He remembered his determination to win Gong Xi back, where did it go? He now sees her as a childhood friend and a person who he envies. She, at least, knew what love is. He continued to play the notes on his piano over and over again, the notes that he never put words to. He would use these notes as an intro to one of his songs, but never to a song itself.

"Shang, are you ready? You have a performance in four hours," Yang says as she walked into the room.

He hummed in acknowledgement, still playing the same thing. Yang noticed this, standing beside him. She crossed her arms, watching as he played one of his first compositions that he wrote. His expression seems lost, which was unusual. Shang is not bothered with Gong Xi anymore, apparently, Yang thought.

"Shang," she said again, trying to get his attention. "What is bothering you?"

He sighed, taking his hands off the piano keys, and then looked up at her. "First, tell me why Mai Lin would be at Channel 8," he said.

"Mai Lin?" She asked in confusion. Yang frowned, uncrossing and crossing her arms again.

Shang nodded. "She was there in that grey coat and scarf. She walked past us. Mei Shen was yelling at Mai Lin in front of those people, it was embarrassing."

"Hmm," Yang looked at him with a knowing look, "Why are you concerned? Are you worried that Mai Lin was embarrassed?"

"Ridiculous," Shang muttered. "You still haven't answered my question, though."

Yang shrugged. "There was a special model episode, so she was probably there to take pictures or something. Somehow, Mei Shen bumped into Mai Lin and started to yell at her."

Shang frowned. Why would she yell at her? She didn't do anything wrong… Her as a thief would not make sense. What did she steal? I don't think Mai Lin is the type of person…

He got up from his seat, leading the way out the door. Yang shook her head, following out after him. He may be over Gong Xi, but perhaps someone else has entered his heart.

The TV was still on after Jai Li had left for work. "Make me lunch," was his last words before storming off. Gong Xi walked over to turn it off but the news caught her attention.

"Director Hong Long's latest movie, Wan Lixue, has become the biggest hit with its unique beauty and the beast plot and all-star cast which includes entertainments newest acting couple, Dun He Lian and Gong Xi, and the record hitting singer, Bu Po Shang," the reporter announced. Gong Xi smiled, sitting down on the couch.

"We all know that Dun He Lian has been one of the most on-demand actors, but now here comes a new actress from the same company. Her recent roles show that she has skills that may even be a match with her boyfriend. From an angel-turned-demon in Bu Po Shang's MV, to a cold-hearted character in Dark Moon, a sadist bully in Box R, then an innocent yet strong woman with a curse in Wan Lixue. Fans of Dun He Lian had stopped fighting against their reunion and now support them as her character moves viewer's hearts.

"Now what is this? A rumor that says that singer Bu Po Shang is intimately involved with rookie model and actress Mei Shen from the same company as him as well. Is it just me or is there a lot of romance in the office, here? So far, there has been no confirmation on Bu Po Shang's side. In fact, Mei Shen is the very one that started these rumors, starting from yesterday when Mei Shen caused a scene at Channel 8. Luckily, we have some footage right here:

""It's your ugly presence that's disturbing everyone," Mei Shen shouted to an unknown woman. Her manager tries to calm her down but she continues to rant. "Thief! Bu Po Shang is mine!""

"Here, you see Mei Shen walking over to Bu Po Shang who completely ignored her. He got up and walked away. The important thing is who is that woman Mei Shen was aiming? The woman, who looks to be a photographer, walks away calmly, passing by Bu Po Shang. If you zoom in closely…"

Gong Xi pause it, looking at the woman. It looks like Mai Lin. What was she doing at Channel 8? Oh and why is Shang looking at her as she walked by? She started to worry that Mai Lin might be caught up in a scandal without even knowing. Bu Po Shang better not hurt her!

Gong Xi took a deep breath in, composing her face. She headed towards the kitchen, whipping out the vegetables and stabbed a knife on the cutting board, setting to work on boiling the water over the stove. After washing the vegetables, she cuts them with deadly speed, still upset about what Jai Li had said about Lian.

When Jai Li got back from work, he staggered back in horror, staring at the huge pile of vegetables stacked onto a small pot.

"Wha… What is this?" He demanded, pointing at it, "It's unforgivable to leave it like this!"

One of the staff appeared from behind, also in shock. "How is it going to cook thoroughly like this? The pot is too small!" Jai Li said angrily.

Oh, so he was angry about the pot not the vegetables, the staff member thought. Jai Li pointed at him. "You," the actor said, "Excuse me; can you get a bigger pot for this? One that can cook for fifty people is fine."

"Uh, okay," said the man. Fifty people? Is he going to feed all the bodyguards as well?

That girl, Jai Li started to think, looking around, where did she go? Even though she did prepare lunch, there's still cooking to finish…

Shang tossed the remote on the side, anger overflowing him as if he turned into a demon. This wouldn't have happened if Mei Shen weren't so foolish. He rubbed his forehead, knowing what Mai Lin would say. No, Shang, this wouldn't have happened if you haven't made her into a possessive lovesick fool. Now look at what you did, dragging others down with you. As if you weren't low enough. It was odd. There was a pain in his chest by just imagining her say those words.

He unlocked his phone and stared at Mai Lin's smiling picture. It took him back to the time where she was his temporary manager. She would frown as she took down notes and tuck a piece of stranded hair behind her ear. For some reason, it was fun being around her.

""Are you okay?"

-Strawberry Pudding"

Shang texted Mai Lin. The news would have reached her by now.

""Look, I don't have time for this!"

-Choco"

Though he did not hear her voice, it was still harsh. His thumb hesitated, hovering over the keyboard. By the time it landed, the screen had locked. Shang exhaled, not even realizing he was holding his breath.

"Shang, we need to get to Queens Records, now," Yang said, grabbing his things. He nodded.

On the drive to their company, Shang asked, "How do you know Mai Lin anyways?"

Yang thought for a moment. "We both worked at the company and we kept seeing each other. After awhile, we became friends. It strange that until now, she never told what she worked as when she worked at the company. I don't even know if she still does."

Shang frowned, crossing his arms in thought. Who are you really, Mai Lin?

AN: DUI BU QI! It's been a year, I know, I'm sorry. Short chappy this is, too. I'll try to post a Valentine's Day chapter special. I've been reading the latest Skip Beat! and I can't believe that Kyoko still believes that Corn and Ren are different people.
