The Swimming Party
Jace was leaning on the countertop with a plate of hot pancakes in front of him, lovingly covered in maple syrup and butter. Clary stood in front of him with a smile on her face. She knew just how much he loved those pancakes; after all, he had a superior sweet tooth and wouldn't stop until he had satisfied his need for sugar. Rose and Will had a sweet tooth as well but Jem and Jace ruled over them when it came to pancakes. The door banged open to reveal a wispy haired Maia followed by an even messier looking Jordan.
"Is that pancakes I smell?" Maia asked whilst grabbing some off Jace's plate much to his protest and grabbing a plate to put them on
"Did you really just steal one of my pancakes that took about two hundred years to cook?" Jace asked with mock disbelief whilst clutching the place where his heart would be "It hurts here. That you would even consider it…"
"Shut it Lightwood, Herondale and Wayland." Clary mused whilst lightly punching his arm
"Great, any chance of perhaps some extra pancakes for us? You know, we have been out all day working as interns, so pretty starving here." Jordan asked, a mischievous smile upon his face "Well, most of the time anyway."
"Who do you think I am? A waitress or what?" A voice said from underneath as recognizable as always, although still small because she was probably bending to grab the flour and sugar from the cupboard underneath
Without them talking anymore, a sweet smell soon filled the room. By the time the pancakes were done, Maia and Jordan were glaring at each other. Sizing each other up and silent communication happening between them both.
When the pancakes were equally distributed, they were met by another treat. Soon they heard two violins playing in perfect harmony, if not one actually playing an octave lower than the other. Jem. He always preferred to play lower because that was what he was used to playing in China when he was younger.
Tessa and Will came into the kitchen, both as usual holding books and pencils behind their ears. When they looked at the pancakes, their eyes held a silent pleading. Will's more than Tessa's. Clary laughed and made sure to make three extra batches.
"That's a new piece, right?" Tessa asked her brow scrunched up in concentration "I've certainly never heard of it before."
"Uhuh, it sounds a bit like bach actually. Probably Für Elise to my knowing. Although I had always though that it could only be played on the piano." Jace said thoughtfully, whilst studying Clary's face
Suddenly, Jem and Rose came in grinning like crazy and clutching their violins. When asked what was so funny, they just both screeched with laughter, only Jem was slightly quieter. When they had both finished, they had tears in their eyes and were still grinning like mad.
"What are you two laughing about?" Jace asked, still fixated on his pancakes
"Jem's so mindless! He was like playing with his eyes closed but when Church comes along; he rubs against Jem's leg and he like screamed like a girl and like nearly dropped his violin whilst smashing his face on the piano. Oh my goodness, I should have taken a picture of that."
"I did not smash my face on the piano. I lightly banged my head, not smashed. But you are so on my list of people to throw in first." Jem mused
"Your welcome to try but I doubt it'll work." Rose said whilst smiling
"So, shall we start the swimming?" Isabelle asked whilst coming in with Simon's arm around her waist.
"Swimming? What swimming?" Jace questioned his eyes still on Clary
"Yeah, I invited a couple of friends over for swimming." Rose said, her face suddenly serious
They heard a scream from upstairs in the direction of Rose's room. They all looked at each other and Jem raced upstairs and dragged Rose with him. They ran up the marble stairs and barged into the room to see her wardrobe open and Taylor and Grace gaping at her Christmas Ball Gown. They took it out and laid it out on the bed. It was blue and had wispy blue material from side to act as a sash. When Jem coughed, Taylor and Grace looked up guiltily. Rose laughed and patted their backs to reassure them.
"We always have a Christmas Ball each year. You guys should join us this year, I'll make sure to fit a WHOLE day for us to go shopping."
"I think its time for them to meet the other's, don't you think?" Jem said whilst walking out
They all jumped up and speedily kept up with him. Everybody was still in the kitchen but already had music on. When they approached the kitchen they could hear Gabriel's off tune singing along to I knew you were trouble by Taylor Swift. When they saw the friends they all turned silent only the music filling the silence. Rose changed the song and started waltzing the whole kitchen whilst heading towards the steaming plate of pancakes.
"Introductions. Everybody these are my friends from school. Gabby (Brown hair with piercing blue eyes and fair skin) Oliver (Black hair with soft brown eyes, tanned skin) Taylor (Blond hair and blue/grey eyes and bronze skin) Grace (Hispanian, with silky long almond brown hair, brown eyes and light brown skin)" Rose said whilst gesturing a hand at them
"Guys this is my sometimes dysfunctional family. Clary (Redhead with green eyes) Jace (Golden features boy) Alec (Black hair and Blue eyes) Isabelle (Black hair and blue eyes) These two are family, by the way. Simon (Brown hair and eyes with pale skin.) He's a vampire just so you know. Will (Black messy curls of hair and blue eyes) Cecily (Black long and straight hair, blue eyes) Their Family too but not like Alec and Isabelle. Jem (Raven black hair and brown eyes with flecks of gold in their irises) and Magnus (Black hair, cat eyes.)
So we have here, Fairchild, Herondale, Lightwood, Lewis, Carstairs. Plenty of things to talk about but let's get on with the swimming!" Rose finished her pancakes quickly and raced upstairs to get her stuff.
An hour later
Splashes could be heard from outside and screams of joy and laughter.
"I'm throwing you in!" Jem shouted as he raced towards Rose
"No! No! Jem, stop! JEM!" Rose screeched whilst laughing and running away
Jem picked her up on his arms and jumped in with her. They both created a massive splash and both came up gasping for air, laughter bubbling out of their throats.
"CANNONBALL!" Oliver shouted as he ran and held his legs up
"SECOND THAT!" Jace jumped in with Clary on his back laughing her head off
Rose clambered out of the pool and took a seat nest to the three girls who decided they didn't want to get their hair wet.
Jessamine and Isabelle were sun bathing with Tessa and Rose next to them but they all looked up when they heard Will and Jem conspiring near them.
"I suggest throwing them both in. They won't even care, apart from the fact that they're both dry and tanned." Will whispered whilst looking around cautiously
"They'll both kill us you know."
"Yes but it'll add to the atmosphere." Will whispered back his eyes twinkling mysteriously
The two boys casually walked towards them before though, Nate and Simon ran and picked Jessie and Izzy up from their dry spots. They threw the girls in jumped in themselves.
Jem sat in the seat that Izzy had previously vacated whilst Will sat next to Tessa. They were both reading Seventeen magazine with their sunglasses on. Well, Rose was anyway whilst Tessa was reading Burnt Shadows by Kamilla Shamsie.
Jem shifted his seat nearer to Rose's before reaching a hand to cup her face. She looked up and smiled. Even through the dark glass of the sunglasses he could see her smiling eyes shinning brightly like the moon. Her lips were perfectly moistened with her favorite lip balm by The Body Shop slightly tinting them with a pinky glow. Jem bent his head to kiss her and tangled his hands in her caramel hair, which was warm from the sun. He could distantly hear Will complaining how he had to push Tessa in before she would actually jump in with him willingly. He didn't care, after all what mattered now was the moment. When they broke apart, Rose had her mused face on and lips swollen.
"Y'know. That's the first time where you actually chose to kiss me softly. Normally, it's all like messed hair and heavy breathing."
"Are you insulting my ways of kissing you?" Jem asked with a deeper voice than his usually was.
"Well, look at the two lovers on the couch here then." Magnus remarked before taking a seat himself with Alec next to him
"Magnus, if I don't recall, how many times a DAY do YOU and ALEC kiss?" Rose lightly punched his arm when she said this "This isn't even a couch! It's a sun bed."
"Same thing." Magnus waved his hand dismissively
Charlotte came into the swimming pool with Henry just behind her. Following them were Sophie and Gideon carrying two trays of snacks with Cecily just slowly walking in with Gabriel's arms around her waist and carrying a drinks tray.
"Hey, Jem! Where are the cookies you baked like two days ago?" Gabriel shouted from the other side
"I thought I put them in the top cupboard!" Jem shouted back whilst turning around to gaze mock accusingly at Will. "However though, it looks like a certain someone has munched them to their hearts content."
"WILLIAM!" Cecily shouted and ran around the pool to tackle her brother and dump him in only letting both Gabriel and Will the chance to push her in
Charlotte jumped in and shook her brown hair out of her face. Henry jumped in after her and splashed everybody with warm and cold water. Gabriel put on some music and a playlist that he and Cecily had made earlier. Suddenly, High School by Nicki Minaj came up and that really had Rose dancing. Everybody watched as she danced with Cecily and both copied the other's moves. Everybody had said that they both were the party starters. Will joined them and dragged an amused looking Tessa into the circle.
Suddenly, Love Story by Taylor Swift came on and everybody dispersed when they saw how Rose and Jem were dancing casually in their swimming stuff and Will and Tessa slowly rotating, Will in his swimming trucks and Tessa in her thin kimono from Cecily last Christmas.
