A/N: I posted this chapter a little early because I have prom on Saturday which is normally when I write new chapters! I hope you like it, thanks for reading!
JACK
Jack sat in a very familiar place in the North Pole Palace. It was at the window he had sat at after Sandy died. No, no one had died. Not yet anyway. Jack just couldn't stand to be around everyone right now. He had too much on his mind. He couldn't stop worrying about Elsa. He couldn't stop worrying about Jaime and the other kids. He couldn't stop worrying about Pitch.
He was at a loss as to what to do. Defeating Pitch last time hadn't been easy, but it hadn't felt nearly as hopeless as this. The feeling that Jack had had when he was in Pitch's lair was still hanging over him. It was one of complete dread.
And Elsa wasn't here to take it away.
Jack closed his eyes. He wanted her back. He knew it hadn't been that long since they were last together, but the distance between them made it feel even more substantial. He wanted to tell her everything that was wrong and she would listen and then they would fix it. Together.
He opened his eyes. He wasn't sure he would ever see her again. In the battle to protect his world, it was likely he would die. He had already come to terms with that. It was a sacrifice he was willing to make. His only sorrow would be leaving Elsa.
"Jack?" He heard a voice say. He looked to the side and saw Jamie standing there. He looked like he had been heading somewhere other than to Jack.
"Hey Jamie." Jack said, swinging his legs down from the window seat. It was so weird to see Jamie Bennet older. In Jack's mind, he would always be that little boy who first believed in him.
"Are you okay?" Jamie asked. Jack looked over at him and smiled a weary smile.
"Yeah Jamie," He said, "I'm okay." Jamie gave him a look like he knew he was lying but didn't say anything else about it.
"Where are you going?" Jack asked.
"To the globe room," Jamie said, "I just want to see how everyone's doing."
"I'll walk with you."
Jamie nodded. A couple of steps later he stopped and looked at Jack.
"I'm glad you're here Jack. Maybe… Maybe we have a chance now. I'm not as scared anymore."
"I'm sorry that things got as bad as they did and I wasn't here to help." Jack said, not meeting Jamie's eye.
"Well you're here now," Jamie said, "And that's what matters."
They walked to rest of the way in silence. The truth was, Jamie made him a little less scared too. He was the first to believe in Jack, and that meant a lot to him.
Everyone was in the globe room when they got there; all the other Guardians and all the kids. The other Guardians were standing around Tooth. She still hadn't fully recovered from her time with Pitch. Jack walked over to them.
"How are you doing Tooth?" He asked. She smiled at him a little.
"I'm doing okay Jack." She said softly.
After they had taken down Pitch the first time, he and Tooth had had a small relationship, if you could even call it that. It had dwindled out over time, but Jack suspected she still had feelings for him. Jack felt a little bad about this, but he couldn't really help the situation.
'What about you Jack," North asked, "How are you doing?"
Jack tried to not look as miserable as he really felt as he said, "Better."
Jack heard a familiar noise. No, it couldn't be. He was imagining it. But all the other Guardians were looking at a point behind him. He turned around.
A portal.
Jack's heart stopped.
He watched as a white haired girl fell out of the portal.
Jack stumbled as he ran over to her. As he did, she looked up. In that millisecond, Jack saw so many things in her eyes; sadness, longing, hurt, love, and desperation. Then he was on his knees in front of her wondering how this could be real. He took her face in both of his hands making sure she was really there, and not just a figment of his imagination.
Then his mouth was on hers and he didn't care who was watching. She was real. She was here. Nothing else mattered. "I love you." Jack said to her in between kisses.
"I love you." Elsa said in return.
When they broke away, Jack saw that Elsa was crying, and he thought he was probably crying too. Jack whipped the tears off her cheek with his thumb. She smiled, the smile showing in her eyes.
"You're here." Jack said.
"You're alive." Elsa said.
Jack turned around to look at the other Guardians who were staring at them. He stood up then gave Elsa a hand. Their fingers laced together, they turned to face Jack's family.
"I'm sorry," Elsa, said, her eyes still red with tears, "I just had to come."
North looked them over for a minute. Then he smiled. "You are welcome here Elsa."
ELSA
"You can stay in here." Jack said, opening one of the doors in the North Pole Palace. She just couldn't take her eyes off of him. He was alive. She felt like everything was going to be okay now. And the way he had kissed her made her brain go fuzzy.
Everyone there had seemed to welcome her except the Tooth Fairy who seemed a little apprehensive of her. Jamie was the favorite person he had met, welcoming her whole-heartedly.
Jack closed the door behind them. Elsa touched his cheek and kissed him softly. He put his arms around her, picking her up. She didn't realize they were in the air until she opened her eyes.
"I have a lot to tell you." She told Jack her expression falling a little.
He flew down to the ground and put her down. He sat on her bed and lay back against the pillows. She lay down too, her head on his chest. She listened to the sound of his heart for a minute before she started talking.
She explained everything to him. He stayed quiet and listened as he always did when she needed to talk about something. She stopped after she made it onto the balcony.
"I killed him Jack." She whispered. "I killed him."
Jack stroked her hair. "Elsa, he would have killed you," He said, "I'd much rather have you alive than him. It was self-defense."
"I just can't stop thinking about his face when… When I…"
Jack kissed the top of her head. "I'm so sorry."
"We're together now though," Elsa said after a long silence, "We can get through anything." She lifted her head to look up at him.
"You're right," Jack said, "We'll face it together."
