Chapter Two

Jack's POV:

I woke up in a dark room. "Kim, Kim," I say. "Right here Jack." I look around and then realize she's tied to my back. "Are you alright?" I ask her whispering. "Besides a massive pounding headache, yes." she answers back. "How are you?" she continues. "Headache too but I think my shoulder is bleeding just a bit." In truth my shoulder feels like it's bleeding a lot but no need to worry about that now. "It's good to see you two are awake. I thought you never make it." A man walks into the room. He's wearing a gi and looks to be in his mid 30s. "Who are you? Why do you have us?" I ask. "The names Donovan. That's all you need to know." Donovan leaves and I feel myself let out a breath. "What do you remember?" I ask her. "I remember us at the game, you were gonna ask me something and then a really loud noise." "That's all I remember too," I say.

-1 Hour Earlier-

Jack's POV:

I need to ask Kim if she'll go out to dinner with me tonight. The restaurant I want to go to might have a waiting list. "Hey Kim, I need to ask you something." I say "Sure what's up?" she answers me. All I hear next is a HUGE explosion and Kim and I are knocked to the ground. It feels like I've been flash banged and shot at the same time. Rough hands pick me up and I try to struggle to get free but a rag is put over my mouth. The next thing I know I'm tied up to Kim.

Jack's POV:

Needless to say this was not how I imagined Miami to be. I look around the room for the first time and notice its closer to a jail cell than anything. It's a long rectangular room with a toilet and one bunk bed. Then I notice a Nike swoosh. This couldn't be a jail then. Maybe it is and the Nike swoosh is for the prices you pay. You'd have to go to jail to pay it off. Anyways I can feel Kim squirming. "What's wrong?" I ask. "I hate being tied up. It just scares the daylights out of me." "We'll be fine." I say trying to believe it myself.

Jerry's POV:

"Son, you alright?" the paramedic asks me. I've been limping around for a while and clutching my arm. "I guess," I answer. Finally the pain gets to me and I lay down while she checks it out. "Your knee is hyper extended and your shoulder is sprained. We'll need to take you to the hospital." The medic gets interrupted as I see a redhead walk up, badge visible on his belt. "Give me a minute with the boy please."

Horatio and the Team

The redhead strolled swiftly as he left the young boy and the paramedic aiding him. He took a moment to himself as he sat in the driver's seat of the Hummer and pinched the bridge of his nose. Any time children were involved in a case, he absolutely could not stand it. Nevertheless, he soldiered on refusing his rage to get the better of him.

The air conditioning came to life as he turned the key in the ignition, and he welcomed the blissful coolness that caressed his heated extremities. A heat wave had been coursing through Miami, readily adding to the persistent humidity. His thoughts enveloped him as he drove, and before he knew it, he was pulling into the lab's parking garage.

There wasn't much evidence that was for sure. He'd left the scene, trusting Walter, Natalia and Ryan to collect it and return to begin processing. From what he'd been told by Jerry, the group had been knocked to the floor by the concussive force of what he presumed to be a large explosion. That was all he managed to obtain information wise before the paramedic expressed the importance of transporting the young man to Dade Memorial. He'd nodded understandingly, knowing first hand what damage the force of an explosion could do to someone. His experience on the bomb squad would be helpful when it came to evidence. The product of a bomber was unique in more ways than one and usually carried a signature.

He would put his expertise to use as soon as his team returned with the evidence. But for now, he patiently awaited the arrival of the three friends from the hospital. A phone call had assured him that their injuries were not life threatening, but despite the fact, they had been thoroughly banged up. It had been hours since the initial call out came in, and with every minute that passed, time became that much more precious with two teenagers presumably kidnapped.

Jerry was first to arrive at MDPD and Horatio looked on as the young man roughly sat down in Interrogation One after being escorted by a kind uniform.

"How's the shoulder?" The redhead questioned lightly, referring to the sling on his arm. "They gave me something for the pain, so I'm good. Landed on it hard." The Lieutenant looked down at his sunglasses as he fiddled with them in his worn hands. "Jerry, my name is Horatio Caine. I'm going to find your friends, but I need your help." Upon mentioning his pals, the dark-haired Latino looked up and spoke with a sense of reluctance. "What do you need me to do? If it means finding Jack and Kim then I'll do anything." Horatio nodded lightly and continued. "Okay, son. You're off to a good start. What are Jack and Kim's last names?" Jerry nodded and answered almost immediately. "Jack Brewer and Kim Crawford." Once again, the redhead tilted his head in understanding. "Do you have any pictures of them?" Slowly but surely, Jerry pulled his phone from his pocket and tapped at the screen before sliding it across the table towards the Lieutenant. He picked it up and looked towards the boy sitting before him. "Do you mind if I take this to my audio visual lab? We're going to get their pictures out in the open just in case someone sees them." The boy readily agreed and Horatio offered him a few kind words before excusing himself. "Thank you, son. We're going to do everything we can to bring Jack and Kim home. You hang in there, Jerry. I'll be back to check on you shortly."

Horatio left Interrogation with urgency and he found himself hurrying towards AV. "Mr. Benton. I need you to send this out to all the major news outlets. Tell them we have two missing seventeen year-old children abducted from the scene of an explosion early this morning. Names Jack Brewer, and Kim Crawford," His words came out quickly, and before Dave Benton had a chance to connect the phone to the USB port, a beep radiated throughout the room, signifying that he'd received a new email. "Lieutenant, it's addressed to you." Horatio stood by the man, and his eyes widened in shock as Benton double clicked to reveal a nightmare. Their mouths dropped open as the video played, and Horatio looked on in shock as he watched the two teenagers happily smiling in the picture displayed on Jerry's phone endured a sound beating from a gi-clad monster.
