Chapter Ten: The Darkness and Liollmon

Takuya

Takuya blinked continuously in shock as he felt Agunimon and BurningGreymon's power inside him. It felt identical to how it had felt in the Digital World, everything from their bravery to their recklessness and even their madness. They were all traits of him, expect the madness of course but Koji might disagree, which was why he and the spirits had melded so well.

"How?" He was meant to find them, they weren't meant to come to him when he was hanging out at home. That was how they'd done it in the Digital World.

"That's great Takuya." Agunimon started, "You see us after so long and you can only say how. Normally you aren't lost for words. Even if it's usually nonsense."

That snapped Takuya back, "I do not talk nonsense, despite what Koji and Zoe might say. How are you here? We are meant to find you right?"

"That was before; times have changed now in the digital world."

"How long has it been?" It was lucky no one was at home for they'd probably think he was crazy talking to himself in the garden.

"A couple of centuries since we last met. The digital world has changed now and there's another threat to the digital world." Takuya didn't like that. He and the other Legendary Warriors had saved the Digital World, defeated Lucemon, what could possibly be worse than that?

"Zoe and I saw the new digidestined yesterday, not their faces but they seem to be able to fight well." He put his hands in his pocket feeling for a d-tector. Instead he found his phone. "What are you doing here, Agunimon? Do we have to go back?"

"Yes you will but not right now, first the others need to get their spirits and when the time is right you'll know what to do." When Takuya tried to speak, Agunimon continued, "I know you hate the position you're in but the new digidestined have their own destiny to complete before you can interfere."

"We wouldn't interfere, we'd help. Just give everyone their spirits." Takuya paused, "How are you even in the human world, I thought digimon couldn't stabilise here."

Agunimon smiled, "Times have changed it is now possible. That's why us warriors sent a piece of our powers through first to see if we could reside inside you before we came through entirely."

"So you're back now, for good?" Takuya smiled at the thought. He'd missed his Spirits of Flame it was as if there was a piece of him missing. Funny how they only been together for a year but when they were apart it felt like centuries. Well it had been for the digital world, but that's not the point. Agunimon nodded and he could hear a roar for BurningGreymon which he thought was also a form of 'yes'.

"At least tell him what's happened in the Digital World." BurningGreymon spoke in a gruff voice.

"I was getting to that." Agunimon answered then proceeded to tell Takuya what had happened after he left.

How the Crests, nine items that kept the Digital World stable, had become unlinked to the Digital World after Lucemon destroyed. Apparently they hadn't actually saved the digital world as well as they'd thought; when the world was deleted to free Lucemon then restored the Crests hadn't been restored which created an imbalance in the Digital World, leading two Demon Lords escaping and trying to free the other five, including Lucemon.

He said that the Crests had to be put back by humans, who embodied those traits. When they found that the Crest were gone, The Legendary Spirits each went to one to keep them safe from those who would want to use it in the wrong way. When the Crest was with the person who was destined for it then the spirit would be free and would return to them. One of the new digidestined found the Crest of Courage and since the Spirits of the Flame was its protector they were released to return to Takuya. The Crest wouldn't need to be protected if it was with the digidestined. The Spirits of the Flame, Light, Wind, Ice, Thunder and Darkness all looked after a Crest and the last three were with the Celestial Digimon.

When Takuya asked how they got through, BurningGreymon replied saying that the new digidestined opened the digiports which allow digimon to pass through. He also said that Takuya and the other Legendary Warriors wouldn't be able to touch or use the crest as when they had the spirits they became part digimon and the crest didn't respond to digimon.

Agunimon warned him to be careful as now digimon would be able to sense the digital part of him, but he could transform as a last resort. His energy would drain quickly in the human world though so he wouldn't be able to hold the form for long.

Takuya had so many more questions to ask, things that he wanted to know. Or maybe he just wanted to talk to them, he didn't know. It didn't matter anyway now because his mum slid open the garden door and the spirits were gone.

Takuya put his hand into his pocket as he talked to her smiling when he felt his d-tector next to his phone.

He would have to call the group together soon.

Shinya

Shinya walked to his last class of the day hoping nothing weird would happen. Since the digimon attack last night all six of them had been on alert in case a digimon attacked again. One hadn't but that hadn't calmed Shinya nerves at all. If a digimon attacked he would be on guard to fight it, in fact he'd be the first there but he worried about Zack and Liollmon. Liollmon could only reach Rookie stage but if they were forced to fight an ultimate digimon he was afraid that Liollmon might get hurt.

Even though Zack was older than him, he was the leader. He needed to make sure they were safe.

"Hey, may we speak?" Tami asked running up to him before he went into the classroom.

"Sure, what's up?" All the digimon were on the field hiding in the bushes. Luckily they were in their in-training forms and not easy to spot. Well Kudamon wasn't there but that was mostly because they were scared of him and Liollmon starting a fight without their supervision.

"Would it be possible for us to go to the digital world today? The Continent of Darkness to be exact."

"I don't have any plans so sure. Want me to text the others?" Shinya wondered if they'd have time to get food before going.

Tami jumped waving her hands in front of her, "No. Well I don't want to trouble them; they probably have their own agendas for the rest of the day. I only wished to check upon something I saw the last time we were there. It should not take long."

Shinya starched the back of his head trying to work out what was going on. Tami had said there was a blue dot on her digivice the last time they were there and Shinya had seen a blue dot on his which turned out to the Crest of Courage. So the blue dot on Tami's had to be her Crest. "Who were you thinking of asking?"

"Perhaps those who do not have plans? I don't want to inconvenience anyone." Shinya looked down the corridor in case of teachers then pulled Tami further away from the open door.

"What's really going on?"

"I don't understand."

"You know just as well as I that we're stronger as a group so why are you only asking a few of us to go in the first place?"

Tami was quiet for a few seconds, "Baromon said to not come back there, so we shouldn't all go, it would be disrespectful. If two or three went then maybe it would be acceptable. And what if my Crest is not there? I'd have taken everyone for no reason and that would not be right."

"Fine. I'll ask Emi, the three of us will be enough. Go home and I'll text you later."

Tami nodded, "Excellent idea, we can get some homework done before hand. Well I've already completed my homework but I assigned myself some algorithms for the week." Shinya only nodded not really knowing how to reply without offending her. Luckily his teacher saw him and shouted at him to come to class. Tami waved as she moved away.

Shinya walked to class ignored the questioning looks from Rex and Zack who no doubt had heard mumbles from within the classroom. They sat in silence, positively bored until the bell rang for them to go home. Shinya quickly packed up his books as the other two waited on him. Tommy was in the class but he ran out the moment the bell rang. It was odd. Keeping secrets from his best friend was making them drift apart, Shinya wished he could tell Tommy but Baromon had said no one could know.

If a digimon found out Tommy knew about digimon they may use him to get to Shinya and the group. He couldn't let that happen. Better Tommy stay oblivious to the Digital World until Shinya knew it would be safe.

Rini ran over to them from the other side of the room, jumping and she put she arms around Zack and Rex. The latter brushed her off more rudely than the first. "Are we going to the digital world? Have to look for those Crests. I want to visit the Area of Light. Won't that be awesome?" She whispered as Rex sent her a condescending look.

"I don't think the people in America heard you. Please a little louder."

"We're not going today." Shinya said as he did his laces. "We went in the morning, take the day off. Do some homework." He looked up at Rex, "You need to."

"Now you're just quoting Tami." Zack said as they walked out. "But I guess you're right. Have to keep on top of studies so no one gets suspicious."

"Great." Rex called as he put his bag over his shoulder, "Then I can do absolutely nothing."

"But I want to find my Crest. We have to go." Rini complained as Shinya took out his phone to text Emi. "Don't you guys want to find yours?"

Zack shook his head, "We'll find it when we need to. It's not as if we can do anything even when we find it. They have to be activated as well. What about you?" They walked onto the field and Shinya could see Tami and Emi a little in front of them.

Rex shrugged showing how much he was bothered, "Dorumon is powerful enough anyway. And the pressure of getting a piece of plastic to glow is too touchy feely."

"Glad to know you care." Shinya commented but Rex stayed silent. Zack and Rini began talking about the class they'd just had, apparently they'd been listening, who knew? Shinya zoned out instead thinking about how they would get to the digital world. Takuya would be at home as well as his parents so that ruled out his house, came with Emi's. What if their parents or brothers walked in to talk to them and the room was empty, they be in a deep load of trouble that's what. They couldn't go to a park because then the laptop would be left unattended and someone could easily steal it. He'd have to ask Tami about her house.

"School should be shorter. I'm getting old here." Liollmon said when they reached the digimon.

"You're already old." Xiaomon replied from Rini's hands.

"It's not my fault the digital world runs faster."

"If that is the case then humans are just young." Kapurimon commented.

The digidestined sent questioning looks at each other as to the point of the argument before turning to Sunmon and Dorimon to explain.

"They've been arguing about which world is the real one since this morning. It's quite exhausting to listen to. Especially with Dorimon wanting to fire at them then they got annoying." Sunmon explained.

"They took a five minute break then started up again. Rex, can I please hit them with a Metal Drop. Maybe just Liollmon, he started it." Dorimon asked bouncing on his feet. The worst thing was Rex looked like he was contemplating it.

"Let's go home. I have to not to homework." He said instead. Luckily.

As they all made their way home, Shinya caught Emi's eye and she nodded at him letting him know she'd come today. Great. Now he'd get some work done then go to the digital world, get Tami's Crest and be back for dinner.

Koji

"So we have to wait for these new people to get their crest so we can get our spirits." Zoe asked again. Koji was as disbelieving as she was. The whole thing just sounded so weak. They were used to finding their own spirits not waiting for a bunch of kids to find them for them.

"That's what Agunimon said."

"I don't doubt that but it's like we're on the sidelines. I had enough of that in the digital world."

"Look Z, we all know you like to fight with everyone," J.P started but luckily caught himself when she glared at him, "what I'm saying is everyone here isn't okay with this but there isn't anything we can do. Unless you know a way to get to the digital world." Koji rolled his eyes as Zoe sent him another glare, didn't the guy ever learn. He had come down from University that morning and already he was in trouble.

"If I did, I won't be sitting here now would I?" She replied.

"If we could work out who the new digidestined were maybe we could tell them to hurry their arses." Koji called as he leaned against the wall in his room. Takuya and Koichi had been there since the morning, Zoe came later and J.P after that. They'd only started talking about it when Tommy got there a few minutes ago. Luckily Takuya got straight to the point.

"We'd be revealing ourselves." Koichi replied from his spot on the bed. Takuya and Zoe were on the beanbag, Tommy on the bed too and J.P was on the chair.

"You didn't think that through did you buddy?" Takuya laughed at Koji.

"We could go in digimon form?" Tommy put in.

"Are you guys seriously considering terrorizing kids so you can get your spirits?" J.P questioned which made Koji want to punch him for making him feel like he was two inches tall. He hadn't thought about it like that but the idea repulsed him. "Just wait until they come to you."

"If they want their Crests then we'll get the spirits soon. I doubt anyone's that impatient." Koichi called.

Takuya said 'Zoe' but covered it with a cough; Koji smirked as she hit him. "What do you think happened to the other four warriors? If ours went protect the Crests then what were they doing?" He asked.

"It been centuries they could have locked themselves away like before." Takuya answered ever the optimist.

"You don't think they turned evil again do you?" Tommy asked. "They were before."

"That was with Cherubimon influence when he was evil. I doubt it would happen again." Koichi replied. Koji sent a worried look to his brother, his time as Duskmon was still a sore subject for him and whenever Koji tried to talk to him about it Koichi would change the subject.

Before anyone could say anything else, Koji heard the front door close saying that Rini was home. Koichi rose from the bed and walked out the door to check on their sister. "Where'd he go?" J.P asked, "It wasn't because of, you know?" Koji rolled his eyes, saying Duskmon wasn't going to kill anyone.

"No, Rini came home with some starches yesterday so Koichi's gone to check. Said she got them playing soccer with Rex and Shinya yesterday. Fell over onto the floor or something like that." He explained.

"You don't think she's getting bullied, do you?" Zoe asked concerned only for Tommy to burst out laughing.

"Rini? Bullied? People at school are still scared of Koji and the chance of him coming back; they aren't going to touch her. And if they do she'll talk them into submission. And it they still continue then there's always Me, Shinya and Zack." Tommy explained once the laughing had stopped.

"So she is getting bullied?" Takuya asked.

"No stupid." Koji rolled his eyes at the boy, "Did Shinya say anything to you?"

Takuya shook his head, "Got home pretty late last night from Tommy's then got shouted at by mum so he was asleep by the time I got upstairs."

"If Rini said she fell down then she probably did. She isn't one to lie." Zoe called as she stood from her place, "I have to get home. Mum wants me to clean my cupboard."

"I should go to, there a test tomorrow." Tommy stood too and soon J.P was gone to saying he should spend time with his parents while he's in town. Koji looked at Takuya who looked quite comfortable.

"Aren't you grounded?"

"Yeah, so?"

"Go home."

"Mum just says things she doesn't mean them."

"I think she does. Your mum doesn't kid about when it comes to responsibility. Have you been thinking she'll forget, it's all been adding up Takuya. Wait until she locks you in your room with no outside connection." Koji called trying to scare him.

It worked. "I'll text you later."

Shinya

Two hours later, Shinya was walking in the digital world following Tami's digivice. She texted him and Emi earlier to say her parents were going out for dinner so they'd be able to go to the Digital World using her house. Zack had said before they should use the school computers to go since one of the windows were loose and they could get in and out easily.

"I really don't like it here." Tapirmon said as he pushed a branch out of his way. Shinya looked at the dark roots, blackened leaves and muddy soil. He didn't like it much here either.

"I can't get a trace on my digivice." Tami moved her digivice in front of her as she walked in front of them. They'd had to use another digiport further away from the forest than the last time they'd been here.

"Maybe that way." Coronamon pointed to the left but it looked the same as the way they'd come and the way they were walking. Shinya hated to admit but it seemed they were lost. Tami nodded and the group turned left, Shinya hoping it was the right way.

"I think we're lost." Shinya said after ten minutes.

"Just a little further." Tami pleaded, he and Emi nodded. They'd already come so far. Fifteen minutes later the blue dot appeared on Tami's digivice, it was good timing as Shinya was about to say they go back home.

They followed the dot stopping only then they came upon a herd of digimons looking like red rhino with metal armour on the top half of his body. They all hid behind trees, Kudamon moving back into his cartilage in Tami's pocket. It was only then they noticed the owls sitting in the trees above them, watching them with their metal eyes.

Emi took out her digivice, pointed it at the red rhinos then hid back behind the tree. "Sethmon. Champion Vaccine Digimon. Attacks: Heat Storm, Tusk Buster."

"Aurumon. Champion Virus Digimon. Attacks: Midnight Sniper, Infrared Ray, Infrared Eye." Tami's digivice called.

The noise alerted the digimon that they were there and soon the Sethmon started attacking, the Aurumon sat in their trees watching.

"Heat Storm." Several of the Sethmon fired blast of heat at them, causing them to run from their hiding spots. Shinya stood in the clearing, in front of Tami and Emi, as the Sethmon burned the trees separating them. The Aurumon flew onto other trees as soon as the attack had been fired. "Heat Storm." One of the Sethmon fired again it going straight for Emi. Shinya managed to push her out of the way as Tami pulled her digivice from her pocket.

"Ready Kudamon?"

"Do you have to ask?" Kudamon replied as he jumped from Tami's shoulder.

"Kudamon digivolve to... Reppamon."

"Spinning Sky Fissure Slash." Reppamon flew at the herd of Sethmon in a somersault but was thrown back into a tree, breaking it to the ground. Reppamon stood quickly and went to attack again but the Sethmon lightly pierced him with its tusks.

"Shinya." Coronamon called to which Shinya nodded.

"Coronamon digivolve to... Firamon."

"Tapirmon digivolve to... Darcmon."

"Maybe we should have come with back up." Shinya called over the noise of the fighting. There was a herd of about ten Sethmon and the Aurumon overhead. Even though they hadn't yet attacked, Shinya was weary of underestimating them. There was only the three of them here; it was not a fair fight at all.

"I'm so sorry." Tami called as she ran over to them, "I had no idea digimon would be protecting my crest. But I know it's there, I can feel it."

"Don't worry Tami; you'll get your crest. I promise you that." Emi replied before shouting at Darcmon, "Use Dancing Sword, at the one towards the back."

"I cannot do so now." Darcmon replied while Emi blushed at her mistake. Shinya looked back to see their digimon trio fighting very well against the older and larger number of Sethmon. Technically it could be counted as four since Reppamon tail had a mind of its own.

"I do not understand, however. There was no digimon watching over Shinya's crest, so why here? Wait did you see that?!" Tami screamed so loud Shinya could hear a ringing in his ear.

"I'm two steps away from you. There's no need to scream like a crazy person." Shinya said as he tapped his ear in vain.

"The Sethmon they have a mark on this forehead, it looks like a tattoo of a heart. Highly unethical in my opinion."

"So it has a marking, it's hardly odd. This is the digital world." Emi replied.

"But the Aurumon have it too, on their forehead. That could indicate they are from the same genus."

"Tusk Buster." Shinya turned to one of the Sethmon pierce Reppamon successfully. The digimon de-digivolved back to Kudamon which caused Tami to run into the middle of the battle.

"Darcmon!" Shinya shouted. The female digimon picked up Tami, who was holding a very weak looking Reppamon, and placed on the ground safely.

"Flame Dive." Firamon attacked. By now about four of the Sethmon had reverted back to their egg form and automatically transferred to Primary Village.

"Drainin' Rain." Someone attacked Firamon causing him to return to revert back to Sunmon. He managed to float over to Shinya before collapsing in his hands.

Zack

"I'll be sure to ask." Zack replied before he placed the handset back down. He stared at the phone for a few second before calling Rex. "Have you seen Emi?"

"Not since school. She said she had homework."

"She's not at home and Tommy's called to see where she was before their parent's got home."

Rex huffed down the phone, "I'll call Tami, you check with Shinya. I've got a feeling they ditched us and went to the digital world." Before Zack could comment, Rex continued. "Shinya was acting funny since lunch and Tami had that blimping thing on her digivice. It's not that much of a stretch."

"Rex Motomiya has a brain. Who knew?" Zack laughed before ending the call to call Shinya. Just like Rex had suspected Shinya wasn't home. Takuya had answered the phone saying Shinya said he was going to Tami's to study. Zack thanked him and called Rex again.

"Come to my house, Mum's still at the restaurant and dad's gone to Aunt Jun's house to watch the soccer." Zack said he'd be there in ten.

Zack had only made it to the shops along his street when he heard people running towards him. "Everything okay, Zack?" Frimon asked from his pocket. Zack looked down and nodded before walked towards the source of the problem, his mind hoping it wasn't a digimon.

His hope was for nothing as in the middle of road, amongst loads of cars stood a digimon with two massive feet and a very long helmet nose. Zack pulled out his digivice and pointed it at the digimon, thankfully all the humans had gone by now. "Kiwimon. Champion Data Digimon. Attacks: Pummel Peck, High Jumping Kick."

"I don't think this is what they had in mind when they had five-a-day." He said looking down at Frimon. Why Kiwi fruit was named the same as a bird he'd never know.

Kiwimon jumped at the sound of his voice, "Pummel Peck." Zack managed to jump out of the way before mini digimon attacked him.

"Frimon digivolve to... Liollmon."

"Lio Claw." Liollmon attacked but Kiwimon sent more Chibikiwimon his way stopping him mid attack. "Lio Claw." He tried again but this time Kiwimon moved away causing a car to bare the result of the attack. While Liollmon tried to release his claws that were trapped in the metal, Kiwimon High kicked him straight to the floor.

"Hey! Leave him alone." Zack shouted grabbing a nearby piece of cardboard and slapping Kiwimon with it. When Kiwimon turned to him, Zack could see the rage in his eyes. "Good birdy." He said moving back quickly. "I can help you get home, back to the digital world."

Kiwimon made a few sounds which sounded angry so Zack took it as he didn't want to go home. "Pummel Peck." Zack quickly ducked behind a car to save himself from the attacks.

"Hey." Liollmon called standing up against one of the other car, "Fight someone your own species. Critical Bite." Liollmon latched onto Kiwimon with his claws but while the attack was powerful, Liollmon wasn't at full strength so it didn't hurt Kiwimon as much as it should have. Tapirmon had once told him that Critical bite was powerful enough to take down a Champion Digimon. Evidently that wasn't the case.

Kiwimon made a few more sounds from the back of his throat which seemed to enrage Liollmon, "Don't touch my partner!"

"Liollmon, what's he saying."

"Doesn't matter, he'll be deleted soon anyway."

"We can send him back to the Digital world if I find a laptop or something."

"He doesn't want to go back, he came here of his own free will to destroy."

"That doesn't make sense. There's only one of him."

"He was told humans are weak, so he can take them alone."

"By who?"

"High Jumping Kick." Kiwimon attacked throwing the car Zack was hiding behind against a shop window, shattering the glass.

Zack walked through the maze of abandoned cars as Kiwimon kept his focus firmly on Liollmon. If he could get close enough maybe he could distract Kiwimon long enough for Liollmon to gather his strength and attack again. When Kiwimon moved to attack again, Zack pushed him to the gorund caushing the Chibikiwimon to fall onto the road instead of at Liollmon. "Go and get Rex. He shouldn't be too far."

"But Zack-"

"I said go." Zack tried to keep Kiwimon on the floor but he wouldn't be able to do so.

"If you get up and I can attack again."

"I'm not risking you getting hurt again. Go!" He pressed. If he moved even a fraction then Kiwimon would get up again. He silently thanked his uncle Cody for the Kendo lessons, even if he was changing the moves to use it on a bird.

"Liollmon digivolve to... Leomon." Zack watched as Liollmon turned into a newly digivolved Leomon. Leomon was big, looked like a lion but stood like a human. He had a sword on his waist and wore black leather pants. He looked ready for a fight, and Kiwimon was certainly asking for one. "Fist of the Beast King." Leomon fired as soon as Zack moved away. Kiwimon attacked with 'Pummel Peck' but Leomon's attack was more powerful and soon Kiwimon was thrown into another car.

"Fist of the Beast King." Leomon attacked again keeping Kiwimon down. "Beast Sword." Leo took out the sword from his waist and attacked Kiwimon turning him back into an egg. The egg then vanished, transferring itself to Primary Village.

Zack smiled at Leomon who quickly de-digivolved back to Liollmon. "We should get off the streets before the police arrive."

"I'd hate to be the one to explaining this." Liollmon replied as they walked towards Rex's house. Rini was probably already there so they'd get to the Digital World soon. Zack wondered if Shinya had got himself into any trouble. Probably.

Shinya

The Sethmon moved away into the dead forest while the Aurumon hooted a few times before flying off. "It's been a long time since I've seen humans." The digimon spoke in a southern drawl but there was an element of innocence about it. Or maybe it was childishness.

The digimon was a little green with blue armour or clothes. She looked humanoid with bright red eyes and red gem like circles on her knees and head. She looked a bit like a fish, if Shinya was perfectly honest.

"Who are you?" Emi shouted from beside her partner. The digimon laid back on her black rain cloud in amusement.

"Who? Lil' old me? I'm Ranamon, of course. But y'all already knew that."

"Actually had we known we would not have asked the question as it would be counter-productive." Tami replied.

"Well aren't just a barrel of words. Mercurimon will like you." Ranamon replied. "Ain't no digimon goin' into that there cave, do go back on your way."

Cave? Tami's crest was in a cave? As if this couldn't get anymore creepier. Next they'll find Rex's crest in a digimon version of a mental asylum.

"I need my crest!"

"And I need ma' adoring fan base back." Ranamon replied. "I'll give y'all five minutes or your digimon will be deleted. Call the five minutes a head start since I'm feeling happy today."

"Let's go Tami." Shinya said grabbing her hand and pulling her away. Darcmon took the back of the group to protect them from attacks.

"See y'all round."

It wasn't until they neared a grove of trees that they stopped to question what happened. It didn't make sense, the Sethmon, who had been winning the fight, just went away when Ranamon appeared. What was Ranamon trying to protect in that cave? A crest couldn't be used by a Digimon so what would Ranamon want with it?

"Think we'll be safe for now?" Emi asked as Darcmon stood gaurd. There was no digiports nearby, and since they'd been wondering around for ages before hand, Shinya had no idea where in the Continent of Darkness they really were.

"I'm sure. Ranamon let us go." Tami replied.

"For five minutes."

"She does seem a little unhinged." Shinya commented. Why would she just talk to them? They certainly didn't have any charming personalities.

"Not the word I'd use but okay." Emi replied. Shinya watched as Tami fiddled with her digivice, probably trying to find a digiport.

"Are you guys okay?" Shinya asked Sunmon and Kudamon, who nodded. Shinya wasn't sure they were being entirely truthful.

"Your five minutes are up, sugar." Ranamon called floating over to them. "That was a fun game, don't y'all think so? Too bad y'all lost." Ranamon smiled at them. " Drain' Rain." Before Shinya could even move he was drenched in water, the digimon looked even more drained then before.

"Dancing Sword." Darcmon attacked but Ranamon was able to block every one of her sword blows.

"You've got to do better than that."

"Sunmon digivolve to... Coronamon. Coronamon digivolve to... Firamon."

"Kudamon digivolve to... Reppamon."

"What do you want?!" Emi shouted.

"I thought that was obvious. The Crests of course. Drainin' Rain." Ranamon attacked again while she reclined on her cloud.

"You aren't getting them."

"Fira Bomb."

"Vacuum Kamaitachi."

"Dancing Sword."

Ranamon only yawned, "Dark vapour."

"Hey, leave them alone." Zack called running over with Rex and Rini. Shinya smiled, maybe they could beat Ranamon now because there was no way in both worlds he was letting her gets their crests.

"Oh goody, more humans." Ranamon drawled her voice anything but excited.

"Dorumon digivolve to... Dorugamon."

"Liollmon digivolve to... Leomon."

"Labramon digivolve to... Seasarmon."

Shinya stared at Leomon for a little longer than necessary; it was hard to believe that Liollmon, the cute into lion cub, became that. Leomon looked powerful. Just as powerful as Firamon and Dorugamon and all the other champion level digimon. Six champion level vs Ranamon, Shinya liked to believe the odds were in their favour.

"Whippin' Waves." All six digimon were thrown into thin blackened trees by waves of water.

Zack pulled out his digivice, "Ranamon. Hybrid Legendary Digimon. Attacks: Draining Rain, Dark Vapour, Whipping Waves."

"Legendary?" Emi called, "As in Legendary Warrior."

"So what is she is? She's still going to lose." Rex replied. "Get up Dorugamon."

Shinya looked at the group then at Tami. "Tami, you and Zack so back and get your Crest. We'll take care of everything here."

"Are you sure?" She replied, Shinya would hear her worry so only nodded. Tami took Zack's arm before running off, Reppamon and Leomon following close behind.

"Flame Dive."

"Power Metal."

"Dancing Sword."

"Sekkantou."

The four remaining digimon attacked, creating a diversion. "Y'all never learn. Drainin' Rain."

Tami

Tami ran as fast as she could through the trees, following the blue dot on her digivice. She was getting close, she knew it.

"How much further?" Zack called from behind her.

"We are here." Tami replied as she hid behind some bushes. The Sethmon were back but she couldn't see the Aurumon. "We have to beat them to get to that cave behind them. There's no other way, I scanned the area before." She had been scanning the area when she'd seen the hearts of the two digimon groups, she still didn't believe it was a coincidence.

"I'll take care of it, you wait here." Reppamon said to which she nodded.

"I can fight too you know." Leomon replied, "I'm not your puppy to boss around anymore."

"Of course not. You've digivolved know haven't you?" Reppamon commented sarcastically. Tami shared a look of exasperation with Zack. Would they ever stop fighting?

"You actually can see, who would have guessed seeing as your face doesn't even have eyes."

"I wasn't the one that needed to keep a swamp under his control to feel better about himself. Actually you were only care-taking it for me. Guess that does make you my puppy."

"Maybe you should direct this anger towards them and not each other." Zack called. Reppamon and Leomon glared at each other some more before nodding. Their need to prove themselves more powerful than the other made quick work of the Sethmon but then they went back to fighting each other.

"Fist of the Beast King."

"Vacuum Kamaitachi."

The two attacks met in the middle; although Tami couldn't see Reppamon's attack she did see the explosion when it met Leomon's.

"Come on Reppamon." She called as she walked towards the cave. Reppamon was instantly by her side and she hugged him before continuing. The inside of the cave was dark but there was a faint red glow coming from a raised altar like platform.

"Do you think that's it?" Zack asked. Tami nodded as she placed her hand on the engraving of the heart. Instantly the faint red glow shone so bright she had to shield her eyes. Her eyes were still closed when she felt a dark energy flow through her, but it was gone within seconds. She looked up to see Zack, who had apparently felt the same thing. It felt almost similar to when Shinya had got his Crest of Courage. She'd felt a warm glow before she was knocked off her feet by the sheer power of it. This time she felt a sense of calm flow through her.

Tami decided to research on it when she got home. She looked back to where her crest was to see a small red tab sitting on the altar. "The Crest of Love." Reppamon called as she slipped it into her digivice.

"We should get back and help Shinya." Zack called but by the time they got back Ranamon was gone. "You defeated her?"

"I wish." Rini called from her place on the ground. "She was winning but then decided to run away. Started spouting off about spirits then left. Good thing she did, I don't think the digimon could have taken another round of that."

"She was powerful, more powerful than anyone we've ever met. It was a game to her, she wasn't even getting tired." Shinya finished which unsettled Tami greatly.

"You don't think she was just playing us?" Rex asked leaning against a tree. Tami could see his arm was bleeding and he was wobbling on his left foot. She wanted to know what happened but it wasn't her place to ask or question. She was about to turn back to the group when he caught her eye and smiled as if to say he was fine. Tami didn't respond, just turned back to the group. Instantly she felt guilty.

"Probably."

"You don't think all the Legendary Warriors are in league with her? We couldn't even beat one what about the more powerful ones?" Emi asked.

"We'll be fine, I'm sure. There's still time." Tami replied trying to calm everyone down. "Baromon had said the Legendary Warriors are a force of good. He wouldn't lie."

"Maybe we should go ask him to explain properly." Rex called.

"We cannot just to trespassing on his property, it's disrespectful. I'm sure he's told us everything he could."

"What if he knows more? It's no use sitting on our backsides when that digimon can tell us something that stops us getting beaten like this again."

"He's said not to go to him. If you said something you'd want someone to respect your wishes."

"Not when someone life is forfeit... I mean in danger."

"Okay, let's break this up. We should get home." Shinya called. Tami took one last look at Rex to make sure he was okay but he seemed too angry to notice her.

"Digiport open." Emi called and soon Tami was back in her room. Everyone quickly said their goodbyes and Tami connected her digivice to the laptop once they were gone. The digivice had a store of everything they needed to know, she was sure. She only needed to access it.

Shinya

Shinya closed the door to his room and fell onto his bed in exhaustion. He tapped the plastic on his goggles as he stared into the ceiling. He hoped they wouldn't have to fight all the Legendary Warriors, they could hardly hold their head over water trying to even get a starch on Ranamon. She was the warrior of Water that much he had already worked out.

He pulled out his digivice and stared at the Crest of Courage. It was like it was mocking him, they'd got the crest but that was only part of the challenge. Getting it to glow would be the hard part. How would be possibly do that. Why could there be a manual.

101 ways to be a good digidestined. Maybe there would be a chapter on digimon that hated each other being on the same team. That would be a chapter he was in desperate need off. He had the constant fear that one day Kudamon and Liollmon would stop attacking the enemy and begin on each other. Or that Rex would decide he'd had enough of the group and leave on his own. Or that one of them would be separated by circumstance.

"Shinya, I smell a digimon." Sunmon whispered, Shinya tilted his head and face the small digimon.

"Is it Rex or someone?"

"No, it's new. I've never smelt one that this before."

Before Shinya could reply, there was a knock at the door followed by Takuya's voice, "We're going to Aunt Mimi's for dinner. You have five minutes to get dressed." The door opened just as Sunmon flew under the pillows. Takuya threw him a bag of popcorn, "I know you hate Uncle Matt's cooking, try and finish that before we leave."

"Thank Takuya." He replied but Takuya didn't leave. "Was there something else?"

"You're wearing goggles."

"Yeah so?"

"Nothing. It looks good."

"Thanks, figured I should start wearing them before they get too tight."

Takuya was silent for a while before continuing, "If something's wrong you can talk to me, you know."

Shinya sat up on bed, "Why would anything be wrong?"

Takuya smiled, "Going to Tami's house to study for the test tomorrow? Zack called and asked where you were, why would he do that if you were already with him?" When Shinya didn't say anything, Takuya laughed. "Relax kid; I covered for you with mum. Just don't go wondering off again."

"Thanks Takuya." Takuya smiled again before leaving. Shinya opened the popcorn bag and started to eat with Sunmon. "Do you still smell the Digimon?" Sunmon nodded his mouth full with food.

"It's faint but there."

"You might still be hyper sensitive from the fight."

"Maybe." Sunmon replied not convinced.

So Tami got her crest, Liollmon digivolved, Ranamon attacked and the Spirits of Darkness got released. Does this mean good or bad?

I added a nice little brotherly moment between Shinya and Takuya since I recently re watched the frontier episode when Koji finds out he has a twin and Takuya had that flashback about his human life with Shinya. Wasn't the umbrella part so cute? Not sure what their parents were thinking letting Shinya go out in the rain alone like that but not judging.

Not sure how good I did with Ranamon's accent but I tried my best, can't do much more than that. Ranamon is a little different from in Frontier, she been trapped for a few centuries to find herself in a new world so she's still getting the hang of this new place. And since Lilithmon injected her with her dark nail she's basically being controlled the same as a dark gear or spore or ring. The Digimon under that control were different to how they were afterwards. Prime example: Agumon.

So two out of nine crests found. Who's next? Rex? Rini?
