Mechanical Dragons
Race me.
Heads pounding under the flashing lights,
the sticky scent of booze heavy on their flesh,
they waltz in the sky,
dodging the ricocheting rainbows,
hiding behind plumes of smoke.
Adrenaline whispers in his ear,
barely audible over the deafening explosions,
daring him to flip, to twirl,
to perform a manic mating dance
for the delighted girl beside him,
for the only girl who could ever keep up.
You know you'll lose, right?
