Chapter Two: A new patient
Blue nibbled nervously on her bottom lip as she quickly tugged the young man further behind the trashcan. Then she quickly straightened the cans and kicked snow over the pool of blood still visible in the snow.
'God damn it pops why do you do this to me,' she grumbled to herself before quickly turning around to stand face to face with Quent.
"Blue did I get him? Did I get the wolf?" Quent looked over Blue's shoulder to see if maybe it was behind her. "Where it go Blue?" he narrowed his eyes at Blue suspiciously then noticed her damp pants leg. "What happened?"
Blue looked down to see her paints darkened by blood and she smiled weakly at Quent. 'Thank god I wore dark pants today,' she thought to herself then looked at pops. "Don't get all paranoid on me now pops."
She poked him playfully and her smile widen slightly as she quickly formed an explanation. "I fell in the snow. You know how clumsy women are," tumbled smoothly out between her lips.
"Your kind of are clumsy," Quent nodded his head cautiously. He looked at her for a few minutes as if he would be able to read the lie on her face but she stared back at him confidently before pushing him back out the side alley.
"Come on pops I'm freezing out here. So shake a leg or do I have to drag you the rest of the way?" she laughed softly as he grumbled at her pushing him along but soon began to walk on his own, only giving the alley a backwards glance.
"I thought I finally caught a wolf," Quent frowned in disappointment before flinging his arm around Blue and leaned against her for support.
"I was this close Blue, this close," Quent let out a deep sigh and continued to walk on again.
'Yes you were that close to killing him,' she thought sadly her smile faltering into a more thoughtful look.
"You've always been there for me Blue," Quent said as he began to walk on his own without the support of her.
"Your not going to get all mushy on me are you?" Blue said playfully and grimaced.
"You've been like a daughter to me Blue," Quent turned serious eyes on Blue and she stopped walking to look at him with somber eyes.
"You've been the only person I considered a father Pops," Blue frowned slightly part of her knowing she should be worried about the young man but the other part wanting to stay here and talk to Quent.
As if he could read her mind he kissed her cheek and gave her a little push. "Because of me you haven't had any real fun or found yourself a boyfriend." Quent smiled slightly as Blue's frowned deepened.
"I know what your going to say so don't say. Just go. My apartment is just around the corner and I think I can manage to walk that far without falling flat on my face."
"Are you sure Pops? I mean I don't mind walking you home every night and I love spending time with you," Blue looked at Quent earnestly.
"From anyone else I would say that were lying if they said they liked spending time with me but with you..." he trailed off.
"That's because I'm not going to let an old man like you get the best of me and if you don't march your butt to your home right now I'll walk you there myself like I was suppose to do," Blue pointed towards the corner Quent was suppose to turning into.
"I'm off woman don't you worry," Quent said then offered his cheek to be kissed by Blue. Then he began to walk towards the corner to turn right.
"Don't forget to shave Pops!" Blue yelled out to him to some laughing far away by Quent then she began to retrace her steps running.
She ran quickly down the alleys, turning this way and that before she ended up in the right one. She tossed the trashcans aside and bent over the young man.
"It's gotten worse," she said to herself and frown. She bit the corner of the bottom end of her shirt then began to tear it into a long strip before tightening the man's injury as best she could before standing up and dragging him through the snow by his arms.
"You are no light sleeping beauty I can give you that," Blue said as she leaned back slightly to pull against Tsume. "I'm so glad I live close by."
THREE HOURS LATER
She pushed him back down in bed before putting her cool hand against his burning forehead. "Shit," she breathed under her breath and didn't notice as golden eyes came to focus on her. 'He's catching a fever,' she thought sadly.
"Who are... who are you?"
Blue focused her azure eyes on him as she heard him speak. "So you are awake. I thought you would be knocked out for a long time," Blue smiled slightly.
"Who are you?"
"I'm your guardian angel," Blue smiled ruefully and reached behind her to wring out a cool, damp cloth before resting on his head. When she was ready to pull his hand away he grasped it tightly in his hand.
"Don't joke with me. Who are you!" Tsume was ready to sit up again but Blue pushed him back down again one handedly.
"If it will make you sit still," Blue sighed and resettled the fallen damp cloth against Tsume's forehead.
"I am Blue Soatome. I am a nurse for a small hospital and I am now trying to help you out. So if you don't mind!" yanks her wrist from his grasp before rubbing it slightly with her other hand. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."
"I'll bite you if I feel like it," Tsume frowned at Blue and she laughed slightly.
"Oh I'm so scared of the big bad wolf," Blue rolled her eyes and got up ready to walk out her small bedroom so she can make herself a bed in the living room.
"My name is Tsume," he said reluctantly and when Blue turned to look at him he was already asleep.
'Caged In,' is the next chapter if you review me. Tsume knows that he must go to the pack to retrieve some medicine for Cheza but Blue won't let him. Will he ever be able to escape the watchful eyes of his blue-eyed nurse or will she keep him on a short leash. Well hope you enjoy and please fill free to review.
A/N: Hey , this is your longtime authoress Simply Hopeless here. I've been on since 2003 and I'm thinking about hanging up my keyboard for good. I've danced around the subject off and on for three or four years now, but I'm honestly thinking about doing it for real this time. Maybe I've lost my edge or something, but I don't think I love fan fiction writing as much as I did when I first started out. Back then three reviews could have spurred me to write even if it was 'I like, update, more'. Sure I wasn't the best writer then, but I know I've grown leaps and bounds, despite my grammar. I'm still growing and I'm proud to say that a lot of people have favored my stories and me as an authoress. But as my skills improved I've found that I desire reviews that will help push me to improve and/or encourage me/ stroke my ego. That, however, has sorely been lacking for a lot of my stories and the alerts/favorites frustrate me because it shows that you guys like it, but won't put in the effort to tell me why.
So long story short, for better or worse, I'll try to update 6 times in 5 months for a few of my stories from different fandoms. By the beginning of June 2014, if I feel dissatisfied, I'm going to hang up my fanfic writing hat for good guys. If I do find that I'm loved I'll start writing again in August 2014 in time for an anime convention in Baltimore. I've thoroughly enjoyed my ten and a half years of writing and growing as an author, but I don't think I can put up with the disappointment of writing and feeling like some of my readers don't care. It doesn't mean I think all my readers don't care. I know there are tons of people out there who have written well thought out reviews from one or two sentences to mouth-watering paragraphs that have made me just itch to write just to see what you might say next. But as I look back at some of my reviews for inspiration for a new chapter I've realized that some of my reviewers write the same thing over and over again and I'm beginning to question why bother agonizing day in and day out how you might react to something in the story if no one tells me.
So if you have ever liked any of my stories, please remember to review. It doesn't have to be fancy but I need to know that I shouldn't retire. If I do retire, I'll keep my stories up for the rest of the year before deleting my account on here and the other websites. This might leave a lot of stories with unresolved endings but I will not be giving any of the stories up for adoption. I've put a lot of effort into my work, they are my children and I'd feel hurt to see someone else continuing on where I left off. So if I find anyone trying to adopt and finish my stories for me I will report you. But hopefully it won't come to that. =/
Next Update: March 25, 2014
