Chapter 14
Zelda
I groaned sleepily as my eyes fluttered open then hurriedly squinted against the bright sunlight streaming in through my window. It must've been almost noon by the looks of it. As I squirmed to get up from my bed, there was a heaviness across my back that hindered any movements I'd been trying to make. Brows furrowed, I looked to the source – oh yeah…
The source of said heaviness was quite cute and had dirty blonde hair swept over his eyes – and he was also snoring up a storm. I smirked, lifting my hand to poke his cheek. There was a small grunt of protest as Link shifted a little and his blue eyes slowly opened, his gaze falling on me. A wide smile stretched his lips and I giggled lightly.
"You snore." I stated matter-of-factly.
"Do not!" Link argued, rolling his eyes playfully as he removed his arm from me and sat up.
"Whatever…" I muttered, unconvinced.
Link glanced back at me and lifted an eyebrow. "Oh. You don't believe me. I see." His smile turned mischievous and it was my turn to raise an eyebrow back at him. He turned toward me slowly, the upper half of his body twisting a bit and then the rest of him following as he climbed towards me on the bed.
"What are you doing?" I scooted back.
"Oh, nothing." His shrug was nonchalant.
I pursed my lips. "I don't believe you." He simply shrugged, then his body was over mine. I stared up at him questioningly. He lowered his head closer to mine, his eyes on my lips. I could feel his breath on my mouth and against my skin. Smiling, I lifted my head a little to meet him halfway – then stopped abruptly as he started tickling my sides.
"Ah! Stooooop!" I yelped, squirming violently as he laughed. "Link, if you don't – eek! – stop it, I will –" I burst out laughing, trying to get away from him.
"You'll what?"
"I – I-" My laughter was completely uncontrollable at this point and he laughed right along with me – well, at me.
I heard the door suddenly swing open. "Zelda! Are you – oh." Link jerked back, almost falling off the bed in the process, and I gasped for air. Ghosts of laughter still bubbled up a little, but I cleared my throat.
"Hey, Midna." Link smiled, his face red.
Midna waved slightly at him, then gave me a pointed look coupled with a suggestive eyebrow waggling.
"I – sorry. Link was… just being weird." I explained to her. Link scoffed, fighting a smile.
"Uh huh." Midna smirked at the two of us.
Link stood awkwardly. "Uh, ya know, I was just going. I'll see you later, Zelda." He grinned my way, then slipped out the door behind Midna.
I adjusted my clothing once I stood as well, lifting my eyes to Midna's curious expression.
"So. Link stayed over?"
I could feel heat in my face. "Yes…" I mumbled, dragging the word out. She continued to stare at me expectantly. I huffed out an exasperated breath. "For the love of Nayru, Midna, nothing happened. He only slept with me – literally."
"Okayyy." She giggled. "If you say so." She slowly turned to leave the room, but I just managed to successfully chuck a shoe at her.
"Ow!" She trained a dark look on me, but I stuck my tongue out at her. Midna rolled her eyes fondly and left the room. I pulled on some different clothes, shaking my head at my nosey roommate.
…
"Are you frickity-frackin' kidding me?!" Mikau exclaimed, jaw dropping as he gestured wildly at the score results on the television screen. I triumphantly placed the game controller in front of me and crossed my arms, flashing the angered Zora a huge grin.
Link chuckled from beside me, giving me a high-five. "Nice! Thanks for coming over. Mikau here was talking smack about he could beat you."
I teasingly tsked him.
Mikau tossed his controller to the side. "You cheated. I don't know how, but it happened."
"Suuure!" I smirked, laughing. Suddenly, my phone rang and I dug it out of my pocket, glancing at the screen. I didn't recognize the number.
I answered it. "Hello…?"
"Hello, is this Miss…," there was a rustle as if the person – a woman – was looking through papers, " Zelda LaNayru?"
"Yes."
"This is the Rito City Hospital where your father was admitted… yesterday afternoon."
I was silent. How could I have forgotten about yesterday? I guess Link really could get my mind off things. It all came back to me in a rush, the whole memory and I closed my eyes. "Um, yes."
"We were just calling to inform you that your father will recover and if you would like, you may come visit him –"
"No, um, thanks." I said, opening my eyes again and catching Link's concerned look in my direction. "I'm glad he's doing okay and thanks for calling, but I… won't be visiting. Thank you."
"Oh." The woman seemed surprised.
I spoke before she could say anything else. "Yes, okay. Goodbye." I quickly hung up and returned the cell to my pocket.
"Was that the hospital?" Link guessed and I answered with a single nod. I wasn't going to see my dad again. I had to stop this, the way he acted was wrong and I knew I should've done something a long time ago, but I'm doing something now. He wasn't in my life anymore.
"Hospital? Did something happen?" Mikau was looking between the two of us. "What'd I miss?"
Link blinked, seeming to realize that Mikau was still there. "Oh. Oh, nothing." He said, brushing it off. "'Nother round?" He asked to change the subject.
Luckily, Mikau had a short attention span and we ended up playing four more rounds.
…
Link
I kept glancing over at Zelda, watching her facial expressions carefully for ay sign of distress. She wasn't as focused as when we played earlier, but other than that she looked okay.
Mikau finally gave up with a loud sigh as he lost yet again. "Alright!" He threw his hands into the air. "A man can only lose so much." He told us, standing and stretching, as he glanced over at the clock on the wall. "Besides, I'm meeting up with Ruto in a bit." He nodded to us and headed into his room, shutting the door.
Zelda smiled after him, leaning back on the sofa and setting her game controller aside. She looked over at me and I swear I would never be able to get used to how beautiful she was.
"You okay?" I asked softly.
Zelda glanced down at her lap briefly before looking back at me and nodding. "Yeah, I just…" she shrugged. I tried a smile for her and reached out, tugging her toward me. She snuggled against my side and laid her head on my shoulder with a sigh. I ran my fingers through her hair soothingly and I felt her body relax against my side, making me smile.
"It's just gonna be weird, not seeing him all the time, ya know?" she mumbled and I nodded.
"I'm glad you decided to cut him out of your life though," then quickly added, "I hope that wasn't mean, sorry, I just…"
Zelda laughed softly, turning her face into my shoulder. "I know what you mean." She said but her voice was muffled against the fabric of my shirt.
I chuckled too. "Okay, good. I just hate to think of anyone hurting you…" I trailed off. Zelda's arm tightened around my middle and I moved my hand from her hair to the small of her back where my fingertips traced lazy circles. Zelda lifted her head slightly and I looked down at her, closing the few centimeters of space to touch my lips to hers.
Mikau emerged from our room, dressed in his version of nice which I guess was nicer than what he usually wore. He had a tie on over a t-shirt, with jeans. I smirked. Okay then.
"Whoa, at least wait until I leave…" Mikau shook his head, making a show of using his hand to block us from his line of sight. I rolled my eyes.
"Don't be an idiot, Mikau." I said and he laughed.
"You know that's what I do best."
"And that's something to be proud of." I replied sarcastically. He flipped me off and I laughed.
"See ya, Zel. Keep this dumbass out of trouble." He smiled at her.
Zelda smiled. "Bye, Mikau. I'll do my best." I stuck my tongue out at him over her head and he made a face as he slipped out the door.
Zelda giggled and looked back at me. "You two…" she said fondly and I grinned.
"Well, he'll come back late. If he comes back at all." I shrugged. She raised her eyebrows and I shrugged. "Apparently they're getting pretty serious."
Zelda smiled, resting her head on my chest. "Good for them." She said. I nodded, pressing my lips to the top of her head. She looked up at me again, a sly smile on her lips.
"I believe we were interrupted…" she pointed out, leaning toward me.
I chuckled and she bit her lip – which was so freaking sexy, it was hard to keep self-control every time she did it.
"I like your laugh." She commented.
"Hmm. My laugh? Thank you?"
She looked at me, a playfully scolding smile on her face. "Yes, your laugh."
"I like your too."
Zelda looked at me as if she thought I was lying.
"Really!" I assured her, grinning. "Do I have to tickle you again?"
Her eyes widened dramatically. "No!"
"That's what I thought." I pecked her on the tip of her nose.
"Hmm." She hummed, leaning forward until I laid down and her body pressed against mine. "Don't threaten me." She said, fixing me with a look.
"What're you gonna do about it?" I teased. She quirked an eyebrow with a smirk.
"Whateeeever I feel like." She mumbled.
"Mm, that sounds promising." My voice dropped a couple registers. She shivered and I had to hold back a slight groan. There was barely a second of silence before her mouth was on mine and I was kissing her back with just as much force as she was giving.
She pulled back after only a minute and I blushed at the whine of protest that escaped my throat. She smiled knowingly and trailed a finger down my chest.
"Don't tease, Zel." I whispered, my voice just a bit hoarse.
"I'm not teasing."
"Mmhmm…"
Zelda was watching me with an unidentifiable expression and I looked up at her questioningly.
"Zelda…?"
Her eyes searched mine and she pursed her lips like she did when she was thinking about something. I waited, watching her. She blinked, focusing on me again.
"Link." She breathed, her voice determined, shy, and full of raw emotion in one word.
"Yes?"
"I…"
I waited patiently, sitting up a little so that she straddled my lap, and wrapped my arms around her gently. A pretty blush filled her cheeks, making me even more curious as to what she was thinking.
"What is it, baby?" I murmured. Zelda's arms wound around my neck possessively and her body sunk closer to mine, causing my breath to catch in my chest.
She finally spoke, her voice clearer but still breathy. "Link, I love you. And I trust you." She nibbled her lower lip thoughtfully. "And I want to… be with you." Her eyes were filled with a sort of decisive determination.
"You are with me." I said softly.
Zelda shook her head lightly and tightened her hold on me. Her lips caressed mine in the lightest of kisses, her fingers curling into my hair. "I mean…," she whispered, placing one more deep kiss to my lips, looking at me with those burning eyes, "I want you… to make love to me."
A/N: Hm. So. Sorry if this chapter sucked – I guess you could categorize it as a sort of 'fill chapter', so… the next one should be better and much longer. Maybe there will be a lemon scene, hmmm . Would you readers like that? It may happen, stay tuned… XD
