Chapter Ten

That night, it was time to carry out the plan. A griffin flew over the castle wall, carrying Edmund. They landed on top of a tower, out of sight of a soldier who stood guard. The griffin grabbed the soldier and pulled him up. Edmund jumped down, and used his electric torch to signal the others. Peter, Susan, Artemis and Luna, carried by griffins, flew in and landed. Artemis flew low and killed a soldier on the way. Another soldier noticed Edmund's signals and aimed his crossbow. Susan shot him. They landed and Peter killed a Telmarine soldier. Luna looked up at the massive building and shuddered. Artemis placed his arm around her.

"I won't let you get captured again," he assured her.

Outside, Asterius, a Minotaur snuck along. A soldier saw him and drew his sword. Asterius put a finger to his lips.

"Shhh…" He whispered. Trumpkin came up behind him and hit the soldier in the head.

Led by Reepicheep, the mice climbed out from underground, and scurried through the gate, easily fitting through the bars. They crawled across a rope and entered the castle. Reepicheep noticed a cat around the corner. He drew his sword and smiled.

Peter, Susan, and Luna climbed down a wall. Luna knocked on a window.

"Professor?" She whispered. She opened the window and stepped into Cornelius' study. Peter and Susan follow. Luna found a pair of glasses on the table.

"Miraz must have taken him. Poor Caspian, he was so insistent on us finding the Professor" she said. Artemis swung in the window.

"He might be in the dungeons" Artemis replied. "You're the only one who knows where they're located. Why don't you search there, and I'll go to the gatehouse, in your place" Susan nodded.

"We'll take care of Miraz" Susan said. The all agreed and went their separate ways.

A Telmarine soldier walked around the castle interior. He noticed that the cat was tied up. He looked around suspiciously. Reepicheep dropped down, hanging upside down, and drew his rapier. The soldier turned and his eyes widened. Reepicheep sighed.

"Yes, I‟m a mouse" He said. Reepicheep hit the soldier. He jumped down and signaled the other mice. They all jumped onto another soldier and knocked him over. Then they climbed onto each others backs and opened the door. Trumpkin entered and shot another soldier before shutting the door.

Luna made her way to the the dungeons and found the cell Cornelius was. She unlocked the cell and stepped inside, shaking the older man away.

"Who are you?" Cornelius asked.

"My name is Luna and I'm going to get you out of here" Luna replied. "Caspian wants to see you"

"Is Caspian safe?" Cornelius asked.

"Yes, we didn't bring him with us. He's safe" Luna replied. "Come on, we must go"

Peter and Susan made their way to Miraz's chambers and entered. Miraz was asleep as was his wife. The baby was in the corner.

"Can we really do this?" Susan whispered. Peter stepped forward with his sword and raised it, then lowered it.

"It doesn't feel right" He replied. Susan nodded and then got an idea. She quietly made her way to the curtains and took the rope that suspended the curtains in midair. once she had the rope, she handed one piece of rope to Peter and took the other. They quietly and carefully tied Miraz's hands and feet to the bed posts. Susan got her bow ready. Miraz awoke to a sword touching his chin.

"Hello, Miraz," Peter said in a deadly voice. Miraz tried to sit up, but found that he couldn't move. Prunaprismia awoke and turned on her side. She gasped when she saw the sword.

"What's going on?" She asked.

"You're husband is about to be deposed" Peter said harshly. Prunaprismia made to move, but Susan pointed her bow at the woman.

"I don't want to kill you," Susan said.

"What is it that you want?" Miraz asked.

"We want our kingdom back" Peter snapped.

"You're kingdom?" Miraz sneered.

"Yes. We know what you and your ancestors did to Luna, and you will pay dearly for it" Peter said.

"That girl is a witch, she got what she deserved" Miraz replied, struggling with his bonds.

"Luna is not a witch," Peter replied. "She is immortal as we are" Susan tried to hide her shock at Peter's words. "I am High King Peter, and this is my land. Caspian is my successor. You will leave of your own free will or forcefully, it is your choice"

"If you untied me, perhaps, I could better make my choice" Miraz replied.

"Don't think to trick us, usurper!" Susan snapped. "We know you killed Caspian the Ninth"

"We Telmarines would have nothing had we not taken it. My brother knew that as well as anyone" His wife gasped.

"How could you?" She asked, climbing out of bed, staring at Miraz in a new light.

"For our son! You must choose. Do you want our child o be king or do you want him to be like Caspian? Fatherless!" Miraz asked. Prunaprismia walked over to the baby and picked him up.

"I don't want my son raised by the likes of you," She hissed. She walked out the door, without looking back.

"Your time is up, Miraz" Peter replied.

Luna led Cornelius out of the castle, and saw that the gate was being raised by Artemis. The Narnians rushed in, attacking the soldiers. Luna looked around at all of the violence. Suddenly she began to glow and the fighting stopped as Luna rose into the air. The silver crystal began pulsing and she changed. Her hair went into pigtails and a crescent moon shone on her forehead.

"Stop!" She commanded. "It is over. Narnia belongs to us. Miraz has been deposed" At that exact moment, Peter and Susan appeared with a tied up Miraz. Peter flung him to the ground.

"All those who plan to swear fealty to Prince Caspian, throw down your weapons" Luna replied. Soldiers all over the courtyard threw down their weapons. Peter looked down at Miraz.

"Aslan will deal with you" He said harshly. Luna stopped glowing and descended to the ground.

"Luna, can you stay here and keep Miraz imprisoned, while we fetch the others?" Peter asked. Luna nodded.

"It would be my pleasure" She said, staring at the false king.
