Chapter 8 - New Beginnings
"I have an idea of how we can get into that cave but we have to work together if we are going to do this. I'm talking to you, Loki." Cap finished saying.
Loki put his arms above his head in defiance. "Really? I've been nothing but obedient this whole time! Are you blind? Or perhaps deaf? Perhaps both?" Loki says, his voice coated with hurt.
"Yes you have and I am proud of you, but out of all of us you would be the first to turn away from us I just know it," Cap says.
"Are you insinuating Captain America that you think I am not worthy of your trust? How dare you! I came this far! I came this far with you because for the first time in my life, I care about someone more than I do myself. I came this far because I am going to save Cheyenne and no one can stop me."
The Avengers stand in a moment of silence. Dumbfounded, the Avengers start to clap for Loki. "Our little boy is growing up so fast into such a good man!" Stark says, pretending to wipe tears from his eyes.
Loki rolls his eyes. He doesn't like pleasantries; he thinks that they are not necessary.
"So Captain, trust me now?"
"You are a genuine man. I pegged you wrong. Will you accept my apology?"
"Apology accepted" Loki answers.
Captain America smiles and gives Loki a big pat on the back.
"Here's the plan. There is a crack that runs just near the ceiling of the cave. The crack is there in order to let air in for astrid and her minion and Cheyenne to breathe. Little dies astrid know, there is always a flaw in the system. Hulk will throw me up to the crack where I will fling my shield into the crack. That wall will come crumbling down because that crack is it's weak spot. Once the wall crumbles, we attack. Pair up and defend each other. Hulk is my partner. Decide amongst yourselves. Loki you will come in last and use your double magic thingy that you do and trick astrid and her minion. Grab Cheyenne and get out of here. Got it? You need to make sure that she's safe."
"What about you guys? I don't want to leave you in the midst of a battle!" Loki exclaims.
"We're the Avengers. I think we can handle ourselves. We are grown ups." Thor adds smirking at his brother.
"Suit yourselves." Loki says smirking at Thor.
"Let's do this!" Cap screams.
Hulk picks up Cap effortlessly and chucks him toward the ceiling of the cave. Before cap hits the ceiling, he throws his shield and it hits the crack. Bullseye. Sure enough, the wall comes crumbling down. The avengers spring into action. Cap lands on his feet and catches his shield as it rockets toward the ground. He flings the shield in astrid's direction. Astrid whips out a crossbow and shoots at cap. She is a good shot. She misses cap head by only the width of a hair. Denise, astrid's minion, tries to calm the hulk down. She grabs a syringe full of tranquilizer fluid and injects it in the hulk. That doesn't sedate him. She keeps doing this and after 10 times he starts to slow down. Meanwhile, Thor is using his hammer to knock syringes out of Denise's hand. He grabs a syringe and sneaks up behind Denise before he injects her with the fluid. She crumples to the ground, unconscious. Thor and the hulk start to back up cap. Stark is flying around dropping smoke bombs making it harder for astrid to shoot her crossbow. Cheyenne is huddled under a table near the age end of the cave. Loki makes clones of himself. Astrid frenetically tries to find the real Loki. She shoots at each one like a madwoman.
"Nice try but you will never outwit my clones. They are as smart as I am you see. That is saying something." Loki says, pridefully.
His clones begin to run around the room in all directions. Astrid has no idea where to shoot. Then se remembers who he is after. The real Loki already has Cheyenne in his arms and he is trying to get a ride from stark through the cave ceiling and past the ocean back up to the surface. Stark flies as swiftly as he can toward the ceiling with Loki and Cheyenne in his right arm. He uses his left arm to shoot a bomb at the ceiling. The ceiling collapses and water starts to flood into the cave. Astrid shoots at Loki. The arrow from her crossbow almost hits Loki in the eye but before it does, Cheyenne covers Loki. Instead the arrow digs into Cheyennes hand. She screams like she is being murdered. Stark swims with Cheyenne and Loki to surface. When they reach the surface, they flop onto the beach. They all breathe heavily and cough up water until they are able to breathe normally again. Cheyennes face is twisted in pain.
"We have to take her to a hospital!" Loki panics.
"On it!"
Stark picks up both of them and takes them to the nearest hospital. Loki runs into the ER with Cheyenne crying into his shoulder. In that moment , Cheyenne felt safe with Loki and Loki felt like a hero for once in his life. He has never been a hero in the story of his life, but Loki knows that he wants to rewrite his story into a story where he can be a hero. Cheyennes hero.
Nurses take Cheyenne into the hospital and leave Loki and stark in the waiting room. Loki anxiously waits. Stark, still in his suit, sits with one leg resting on his knee reading a science magazine. The people in the waiting room give weird glances to Stark.
"It's not every day you see a man dressed like a transformer in an ER room." Someone says to stark.
Stark just shrugs it off instead of going off on the man.
They are Costa Rican it's understandable that they have never heard of the avengers and tony stark, but it stung Stark's pride a bit.
After what seemed like ages, the doctor came out of the hospital.
Loki stands up in one swift motion.
"Is she okay?"
"Ella está en buen salud."
Stark translated what the doctor said in seconds with his super fast computer in his suit.
"She's fine!" Stark yells a little too loudly.
Loki let's out a sigh of relief. The doctor leads Loki and stark into Cheyenne's hospital room.
Cheyenne is asleep on her hospital bed. Loki thought that she resembles an angel. A real life angel. She is an angel he thinks to himself an angel sent to save me from myself.
Stark walks out to go to the cafeteria and grab a coffee while he waits did Cheyenne to wake up. Loki stays in the room and holds Cheyenne's hand as she sleeps.
Soon Loki falls asleep too by Cheyenne's bedside. When he wakes up the room is crowded with all the Avengers.
"You are unscathed! What happened?"
"Well long story short, we beat up Astrid and Denise pretty well! They deserved it for justice." Cap answered.
"Of course, I just smashed stuff. That's my specialty" Dr. Banner answered, grinning from ear to ear.
"Your dear brother turned in Astrid to the police. She is not coming out of prison any time soon. She is with other crazy psychopaths like herself. She is where she belongs! Denise on the other hand apparently was under astrid's influence the whole time. Astrid found a way to control Denise's mind so Denise is not in prison."
"I'm actually right here!" Denise says cheerfully. "I was a good friend of Cheyenne once too! Astrid had me on a trance! I don't remember anything that I did the last year or so! Crazy, huh? You could say I can see clearly now the rain is gone! I wanted to see if Cheyenne was okay and she's fine I'm so happy!"
"You're always happy. I like that." Dr. Banner says to Denise.
Denise winks at him and whispers "call me" before she leaves to the cafeteria. Dr. Banner follows her.
"Well it's nice to have us all together again!" Cap says.
"Except for Hulk he's too busy flirting with that Denise chick!" Stark says laughing.
Cheyenne's girlfriends come into the room just then. All of them start talking with each other. The racket is so loud that it stirs Cheyenne from her sleep.
Cheyenne wakes up and starts to pull herself up but she's too weak.
"Rest." Loki says reassuringly, moving the pillows to make Cheyenne more comfortable.
"Loki I don't know if anyone has ever told you this but you are a good person inside and out. You were never bad. You just lost your way like we all do sometimes in our lives. Actually I was lost when I met you but now I know who I was looking for all along. I was looking for you." Cheyenne pulls Loki down into a kiss.
Everyone in the room starts to clap.
"This is a perfect ending to a perfect day." Cap says sighing dreamily.
"Wow that was deep! Well I guess if you call almost getting killed by a girl a perfect day!" Stark retorts.
Everyone laughs. They all know that from that day on they would be been closer to each other than before and their bonds will never break.
3 months later
"Ugh! I look so fat!" Natasha screams.
"Well I hate it break it to you but you are pregnant you remember that right?" Cheyenne says placing a hand tenderly on Natasha's bulging tummy.
"Yes I know. I should've gotten married before I got so big. I could go into labor at the wedding! You never know!" Natasha stands in front of a full length mirror checking out her wedding dress. Since she is pregnant it was difficult for her to find a dress that would fit over her tummy which was the size of a big watermelon now. She was due in a couple of weeks but she wanted to get married before she has her baby girl.
She turns from side to side and looks at her tummy sticking out. She places her hands on top of her tummy and feels her baby kick. Hard. She almost falls over; that's how hard she is kicking.
"Wow! She is going to be a fighter like her mom and her dad!"
"Oh yea she's going to be stronger than all the boys in our neighborhood! I'll teach her what I know." Natasha says, smiling into the mirror.
Her dress does look nice now that she looks at it more carefully. She's more of a pant kind of girl but this dress is gorgeous. It is fitted on the top in a high neckline and fluffy on the bottom. It has lace sleeves that run up and down her arms. She is wearing her white veil and crystal earrings. Cheyenne hands Natasha her white roses.
"Ready?" Cheyenne asks.
"Ready as I'll ever be. Let's do this" Natasha answers.
"That's the Avenger spirit!"
Cheyenne opens the door to the Church for Natasha. Natasha steps slowly down the aisle as here comes the bride plays on the organ. Everyone she loves is there. She smiles at each of them as she passed them by. As she gets closer to the alter, she locks her eyes with Hawkeyes' eyes. His eyes are warm and familiar. This is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. She is sure of it.
The ceremony is beautiful and goes on without any problems. The Avengers dance the night away at Stark Tower with the newly weds and their families. Couples mingle like new couples Cheyenne and Loki, Emily and stark, Angelica and cap, Fiona and Spider-Man (who crashes the party and who Fiona fell for she loves bad boys he's technically marvel too ;)), Denise and dr banner, and Yazmin and her forbidden love with a member of the x men :))
The night was a night to always remember.
The next morning, Hawkeye and Natasha are sleeping in a hotel room in Costa Rica where they decided to have their honeymoon.
Natasha wakes up with a start.
"Hawkeye, I think my water broke!"
The rest is history.
Now Hawkeye and Black Widow have a beautiful red-headed girl named Scarlett who is just as kick-butt as her parents are. She is a tae Kwon doe master. And guess who taught her tae Kwon doe? Yup, her Uncle Stark! The Avengers basically raised Scarlett and they want to add her to the team one day. As for Cheyenne and Loki? Let's just say they are never going to lose each other again. They are in love and living in Costa Rica with Cheyenne's Papi. The Avengers know that even if they are halfway around the world from each other, they will always be there for each other. All that is needed is for one Avenger to call on the rest of the avengers and they will be there in a flash! All they have to say is "Avengers Assemble!"
