I just want to apologize profusely for not updating this for as long as I have. My grandfather got diagnosed with terminal cancer shortly after I began this story.
Sadly I now have more time on my hands. Updates may still be a little sporadic as I am still dealing with everything. This may just be the release I need for all of
my emotions. Thank you to those that have stuck with this story, those that hopefully come back to this story, and to those that have given up, I am sorry. Life
happens. It sucks, but it's what makes the world go round. Again, thank you. Please enjoy. Disclaimer: All characters belong to their rightful owners.
As Blair made her way to the roof of the Empire, she supressed the urge to laugh. How many times had her relationship with Chuck depended on whether
or not Blair made it to the top in time? This time, it was the thought of Dan, not of a future with Chuck, propelled her onward. Chuck may have gotten away with
sabotaging and belittling Dan in the past, but this time he had gone too far. To physically hurt Dan, whose only fault was loving Blair in spite of everything, was
something she was not going to let him get away with. When Blair opened the rooftop door, she saw Chuck standing by the railing, holding a glass of what
was no doubt scotch.
He turned when he heard her approach, and Blair watched as his face morphed into a smug smirk. " I knew you would rush to my rescue. It appears the
only time I can get your attention is when I'm in trouble." Blair didn't even try to hide the anger she felt coursing through her veins. " Are you proud of
yourself Chuck? You lost so many people tonight. Nate and Serena will never forgive you, and Lily is so disgusted with you right now. Congratulations Chuck,
you may have just lost your fourth mommy." Blair watched as Chuck flinched and his eyes flashed with pain, before he quickly steeled his features. Chuck
began to speak, probably wanting to inflict some damage for her last remark. " What about you Blair? I thought you would be happy. You finally have a chance
to escape the guilt you've felt since the last time we were on this roof." Blair couldn't help but to let out a sigh.
" You see Chuck, unlike you, I have finally matured enough to know that you just can't snap your fingers and make all of your problems go away. I will
never love you again. My heart has belonged to Dan since the day of CeCe's funeral. I'm sorry I married you. The only regrets I have involve you, Chuck. How
many regrets do you have?" With that, Blair turned to leave before turning back. " Oh, and by the way, on my way here, I alerted the authorities. They should
be here any minute now. You're going to jail Chuck. You can't buy your way out of this one. atleast not with a penthouse full of witnesses. Don't even think of
retaliating against Dan, because I'm in his corner now. Where I realize I should've been all along. You hurt him and I will make you pay. I'm going to start
protecting Dan now. I'm done with you."
Blair spared one last glance at Chuck before heading towards the stairs. The police had just arrived once Blair made it
out of the stairwell. She watched them ascend the stairs with guns drawn. She closed her eyes for one second, taking a deep breath, realizing she was finally
free. She got into the waiting town car and gave the driver the hospital address. She was going to be there for Dan, even if he didn't want her around. She
would give him space, but she would remain on the outskirts, waiting for the day that he may let her back in.
That's it. Again sorry. I hope you enjoyed it and I know I have no right to ask this, but if you would please review. Thanks. ( For some reason it won't let me separate the paragraphs and make indentations at the beginning of each one. I'm sorry in advance if it hinders your enjoyment of the chapter.)
