When Blair walked into the hospital waiting room, she felt her heart plummet. Jenny was on the floor, leaning against the wall with Rufus beside her. They were both sobbing. Nate was holding an hysterical Serena, while tears silently streamed down his face. Blair glanced around and found a pale faced Lily speaking with who Blair assumed was Dan's doctor. Lily nodded sadly at the doctor before placing her face in her hands. The doctor shook his head solemnly before placing his hand on Lily's shoulder briefly, and turning to walk away.

Blair rushed over to Nate and Serena. " What's going on? He's not ..." Nate stood up quickly. " No, he's alive. It's just that when Chuck hit him and he fell, I guess he hit his head harder than we all thought. " Nate took a deep breath in, as if summoning strength. " Blair, he has brain damage. He's unresponsive, and the doctors aren't sure if he will wake up. If he does wake up, they're not sure how bad he'll be. I'm so sorry Blair."

And there it was. Blair Waldorf's life officially ceasing to exist. The very real possibillity that Dan could be taken from them so suddenly. That he could be taken from her. Nate rubbed her shoulder before he began to speak again. " The doctors have said that as soon as they stabilize him, they'll let the people closest to him start to visit him." That right there was her breaking point. He shouldn't have to be stabilized. He was the strongest person she knows. She collapsed in the chair next to Nate and began to bawl. He sat down and quickly wrapped his arms around her, as she leaned into him seeking comfort.

A few seconds later, Blair felt herself be shifted towards the seat on the other side of her. Serena must have moved from her seat to comfort Blair. Blair felt Serena's arms encircle her and she rested her head on Serena's shoulder, as they both sobbed for the boy they had both once loved. Blair realized a long time ago that she had never stopped. Blair's not sure how long they had both sat there, soaking in each others presence. Finally, after awhile, Blair felt strong enough to extract herself from Serena's embrace. She excused herself to the ladies room to freshen up.

Walking in, Blair made her way to the sink and glanced up at her reflection in the mirror. She looked like a girl who had truly lost everything that was ever important to her. She thought back to a time when things were no less complicated. Back to a time when she still had hope because she still had Dan. He had made her a promise then, and she really needed him to keep it now. " If I should lose everything?" " Then you'll still have me."

Blair closed her eyes to ward off the tears threatening to fall, before turning quickly into the stall behind her. She had barely latched the door closed before she fell to her knees in front of the toilet. She choked back a sob, as the image of Chuck's fist colliding with Dan's face, of Dan, unconcious on the stetcher, being wheeled into the elevator, flashed through her mind. Her mind only saw Dan, as she shoved her finger down her throat, and tried to erase the pain the only way she knew how.

I just want to say that eating disorders are more common than most people believe. My intentions are not to glamorize it in any way. It is a nasty disease that can take over your life just as much as alcohol or drugs can, and it is just as dangerous. I, myself, personally have not had any experience with it, but I know many people who have. I hope you feel that I give it the respect it deserves. If, at any point, you feel that I haven't, please let me know. Thanks for reading and please REVIEW.
