Ten minutes later, Kate emerged from the bathroom. Rick had put on pajamas as well, and now they were both seated on the couch.

'Soo, Kate, how come you are here by yourself?'

Kate froze. How on earth was she going to answer his question? Should she be honest? She only knew the guy for a day! Shit. Come on, Kate, get your act together. You HAVE to give him an answer, just say something. Just… talk.

While Kate was having a serieus discussion with herself, Rick kept looking at Kate. He noticed her eyes lost their sparkle when he asked that question, and they instantly turned confused. He wondered why she had to think so hard about the answer, which made him believe that there was a very serious answer to it. When she finally looked up to him, he searched her eyes for an answer. But her eyes gave nothing away…

'Well' Kate said, 'I was working a bit to hard, and my boss kind of obligated me to take a vacantion. So I decided I might as well do it right, and I booked a flight. A friend loaned me her beach house for three weeks, which is were I am staying.' It wasn't a lie, not exactly. She just didn't explain why she had to take a vacantion.

Rick considered her answer. It didn't sound like a lie, but it was very… vague. He was certain that she didn't tell him the whole story. But was she suposed to do? He only knew her for a couple of hours. He decided to just roll with it.

'Oh, well. I hope you don't mind that Alexis and I are intruding on your vacation then?'

He didn't want to sound harsh, but he needed to know that they weren't keeping her from something. The moment he said it, he saw the twinkle in her eyes fade again.

'Oh, no! Not at all! I was kinda bored already, and it's been a day. So no, I don't mind one bit!'

Kate smiled up at him. She really would love to just hang out with them for a bit, because staying alone would just drive her crazy. Weren't you supposed to meet new people on a holiday anyway?

Relieve washed over him. He wondered…

'So Kate, if you want to, you can go swimming with us tomorrow? I mean, only if you don't have anything else to do, off course. But Alexis could use the company, and I could as well. We'd love to have you around, if you want to, but off course you can say no….'

He was rambling, and he knew it,k but he couldn't stop himself. He would really like it of Kate joined them; if not for him, then for Alexis. His little girl would love some girltime, which she never had with her mother.

Kata thought about it, but she already knew her answer. She could use a little fun, and Rick and Alexis fitted right in.

'Yes, off course Rick, I would love to join you guys! But if you don't mind, I'm incredibly tired, and I actually want to go to sleep.'

'Oh, allright… Sweet dreams.'

She could see he wanted to talk a little longer, but she really wanted to go to bed. So she decided to make it up to him.

'Rick?'

He looked up at her.

'We can allways talk more tomorrow you know, I'm here for another three weeks.'

She winked at him, turned around, and headed straight for the bedroom.

Rick watched her leave. Damn. He only knew her a couple of hours, and he was allready falling for her.

Sooo, pretty short, I know. But, I'm already writing the next chapter, so it might be here veryyyy soon (I'm talking in a couple of hours soon ) The next chapter will be about the swimming trip, bugt I'm also dying to take them hiking What do you guys think?
