One Second
All it took was one second.
One second to see his face and break the spell.
One second to hear his cheery voice.
One second to decide.
Go with him or forever wonder?
One second to make a team.
Make friends, make enemies.
One second to become addicted.
Become addicted to seeing his bright smile.
One second to realize it was love.
One second to announce it, but an eternity live it.
One second to hear his reply.
One second to decide to be his.
And he mine.
One second was all it took for us.
That's all it seemed,
One harmless moment.
One second to head into battle.
One second to realize the sacrifice.
It took less than a second
For me to decide.
Yet more than a second to feel the pain and loss.
As I looked in those green eyes one last time.
Willing them to live, giving them the chance.
My biggest regret was,
That I didn't have a second
To tell him to do so.
