Well, the last chapter seemed to be a pleaser. I hope this one is too.

"So, do I get a ring?" Carlos asked as they were driving back home. Carlos had excitedly told his family about their engagement; surprising to both teens, they had accepted it with open arms and had wished the two of them the best of luck.

"I have one at home…" James said softly, shaking his head, "I still can't believe you said yes."

"Why not?"

"Because… we're so young-"

"No one says we have to get married right away."

"And there's the age difference-"

"My dad was three years older than my mom."

"Do you have a comeback for every question I ask?"

"Yup." James chuckled and glanced at his boyfriend – no, fiancé,- before he looked back at the road. "I'm really glad you asked me," Carlos said softly, staring out the window. James smiled, eyes staying on the road.

"Really?"

"Yeah… I mean, I kinda had a feeling that's what you were going on about…" Carlos said, biting his lip, "And I'm glad to know I was right. Kendall's gonna kill me though."

"Why?"

"Because I'm happy with you and he's at home moping over Logan."

"Oh yeah," James said, frowning a bit now, "Logan's gonna be pissed."

Logan was in his room when his nurse Molly walked in, a frown on her face.

"Logan." He looked up at her then, a pit building in his stomach; he knew that look.

"Yes?"

"You're lucky I'm a cool nurse. I'm not turning you in."

"…What did I do?" He couldn't believe he had been caught; but apparently he and Jett weren't as careful as they thought.

"Logan. I found these under your mattress." He looked at the pile of pills in her hand, recognizing them as the medications that he was supposed to be on.

"Molly, listen-"She held up her hand to stop him, her frown deepening.

"Logan, your doctor prescribed these for you by the request of your parents. Are you telling me you're going to be an uncooperative patient and not take these?"

"You know what those do to the people here. Plus, I'm 18. Legally, I can make my own decisions." She let a brief smile flicker before she pocketed the pills.

"You're right about that; you are, legally, an adult. By the way, a young man is here to see you." Logan jumped up but Molly raised a hand again. "He can come in here, if you want some private time. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." She winked and laughed as she walked out of the room. Logan sat there for a moment before he saw Kendall ushered in by Molly; behind him, he could see his nurse giving him a thumbs up in exaggerated happiness.

"Kendall."

"Told you I would come by."

"James." James was about to leave to pick up Carlos to go see Logan, when he was stopped.

"Yeah?" He asked, turning to his stepmom, who was sitting at the dining table, staring at him. "What's up?" She pursed her lips and indicated the seat across from her.

"Sit with me for a second please." James had to resist to roll his eyes and did as she asked. "James… how's Logan?"

"He's as fine as he can be, considering he's locked up in a nuthouse."

"James."

"What? He's been messed up for a while now! But then Kendall comes along, and you decide he needs to be locked up and make Kendall break up with him? What did you say to Kendall anyway to make him agree to that?"

"One, your brother is seriously ill; Kendall only made it worse. Plus, Logan smashed a young man's face into the locker so hard and so many times that that poor man had to have reconstructive surgery."

"That guy raped Kendall." She looked away at that and shook her head.

"He must have just been misunderstood. Kendall probably consented to it, the little whore that he is."

"WHAT?!" James's outburst caught her by surprise; but the look only flickered briefly before she became stoic again. "What did you say to make Kendall agree to break up with Logan?"

"That's none of your business-"

"Kendall's not just Logan's boyfriend-"

"Not anymore he isn't-"

"But he's my friend too."

"Enough about him. James, I wanted to talk to you about Carlos." James felt his shoulders tense; now she was going to rag on his boyfriend/fiancé?

"What about him?"

"I think you and him are spending too much time together."

"What?"

"I think it would be in the best interest of everyone involved if you stopped this right now."

"Stop what." It was no question; a statement, an accusation.

"You need to end things with Carlos."

"No."

"Excuse me?"

"I love him. I'm going to marry him, and you can't convince me otherwise. And you know you can't; just like you can't keep Logan from Kendall. The minute he gets out of that hellhole, he'll go straight to Kendall. You can't stop this." She looked at him and shook her head.

"James, I'm your mother-"

"No you're not."

"What?"

"My mom was Rachel Diamond. You're not her. You married my dad when I was three. You've been like a mother to me, yes, but you are not her. She wouldn't be doing this." Her lips quivered before James stood up. "Plus, Joanna, I'm 18. You can't tell me what to do." She stared at him as he got up and grabbed his keys.

"James! Get back here, we are not done!"

"I am."

He left, slamming the door in her shocked face.

Well, now there's some more conflict.

Also, sorry it was kind of short; I'll try to amend that next time.

Thanks for reading.
