Pairing: Beetlejuice x Lydia
Authoress Notes: Oh gosh… it's been three years since I updated this… Thought it was time to give it another go round. I apologize if things seem a bit rushed. The ideas poured in and this is what came out.

You're My Lifeline: Part Two
A year had passed since the greasy man had made his proposal to Lydia and it seemed like the planning was taking forever. "Come on Lyds! What else do you need for this wedding ceremony thing?" Beetlejuice whined as the raven haired girl slammed the wedding planner on the table. Her eyes narrowed in anger at her fiancé while she further contemplated things.
"I still have to make the finishing touches on my dress and order the cake…" Lydia pushed her hair back gently and emitted a soft sigh, "It's a lot of work Beej… why don't you start taking care of some of the planning so I'm not entirely stressed out over it?" He quirked a brow at the suggestion and shrugged.
" 'Spose I could do that." He scratched his scalp and took the planner from the table and began looking through Lydia's notes. She had most of the things picked out and all he would have to do was have them called in and ordered for the Neitherworld wedding next week. "Now… how exactly are we going to go about doing this… seeing that I'm dead and you aren't?" This was the one question that had been bugging him for a year. The raven haired woman hadn't even taken into account that.
"That is a good question…" Black eyes widened as she sunk her teeth into her lower lip, "I don't want to die… but… I can't imagine life without you Beej!" Little tears formed at the edges of her eyes, dripping down her fair pale cheeks as her lover brought up a hand to wipe them away.
"Now don't go and do that Lydia…" He paused for a moment to think about her current dilemma. "We can make this work… we just won't be able to get the legalities in your world taken care of… at least not until you die." Beetlejuice suggested to Lydia who then nodded.
"That is true… I suppose I won't be able to have my family there… but it will be simply beautiful." Lydia smiled, resting her head upon the poltergeist's shoulder gently. "The wedding is in two days… so make sure all of the food is there…" A sigh emitted from her lips, thinking about the situation. "Or we hold the initial wedding in my world in two days…" The poltergeist blinked at the suggestion.
"What exactly are you hinting at Lydia?" Beetlejuice had a very slight idea as to where this conversation was about to head, but he figured he'd allow the young woman to explain herself first.
"Well… we can hold it at the lake…" She began, "I mean… how hard would it be for me to drown?" Lydia smiled at Beetlejuice who looked rather taken aback by her suggestion. "That way our love is shared with my family before my death. Then we can be together for our unnatural ceremony here, in the Neitherworld."
"How are we supposed to just suddenly switch plans to there Lyds?" He grunted in absolute frustration. Not that he really minded, it would just make them official that much quicker.
"It's just a matter of ordering a cake and making the reservations for the pavilion. Remember, my dress is back in my world." Lydia pointed out, "I'll send out the invitations to everyone from school. You can finally meet my parents as yourself for once." She grinned at him, "Sound fine?" He bit down on his lip gently, a bit aggravated at this point with her suggestion. Beetlejuice wanted her to live in the Neitherworld in his Roadhouse, but he wanted her to die naturally, not face it sooner.
"I just don't want you dyin' so painfully Lyds…" He shook his head, "Perhaps there is another way." She paused briefly.
"I'll figure something out then." She promised, "Now I have to go home and make arrangements for my bridesmaids." Lydia gave the ghost a gentle kiss. "I will see you at our wedding my love." She smiled, bidding farewell before disappearing back into her bedroom.
The raven haired woman began to turn all of her mirrors away from her bed so that she wouldn't be seen until she was ready to wed her ghostly lover. She smiled to herself and turned on her radio. Quickly, she grabbed her lovely wedding gown from out her closet. It was a lovely shade of red, trimmed with red. All that was left was to add the spiders.
A knock fell upon the girl's bedroom, "Yes mother?" She called out as Mrs. Deetz entered the room. Her mother's eyes lit up at the sight of the red gown laying on the bed.
"Where did this come from Lydia dear!?" Her mother was in awe of the sheer beauty of the dress. "Are you going out on a date and weren't going to tell me?"
"Mother…" Lydia paused for a moment, "I am engaged to be wed. The ceremony is in tomorrow. I was just scared to tell you and father…" Mrs. Deetz simply smiled at her daughter and sat on the bed beside her, "I have sewn this entire dress all by myself. Just making the finishing touches."
"I wish you had told us sooner. Now there is so much that I have to do to get everything ready!" She grinned, "I'll get the cake made and decorated, your father will arrange for the edible goodies." Lydia emitted a soft sigh of relief, "But who are you marrying Lydia darling?"
"You remember Mr. Beetleman right?" Her mother nodded, eyes widening a bit, "He is going to be my husband." Mrs. Deetz fainted on the spot. "Mom!" She went to her side and shook her, "Please… understand. He has been the only male in my life since I was a small girl and he has always loved me for who I really am." Mrs. Deetz slowly came to, looking up at her daughter.
"I understand Lydia. We will help you for your special day. Where did you want it held at?" The red-haired woman asked, as Lydia went back to her dress.
"The pavilion by the lake, I think it'd be incredibly romantic don't you agree?" Lydia finished sewing on the last few spiders onto her dress.
"We'll have everything squared away. Do you have your bridesmaids selected?" Lydia nodded, "Bertha and Prudence I assume?"
"Yes mother." The raven haired girl grabbed for her cellphone and quickly called the two girls up to inform them of her big day. Their reactions were as wonderful as she had hoped. "Can you give me a ride to get them so we can get their dresses and shoes?"
"Of course Lydia!" Delia beamed as the Goth girl got up and returned the now finished dress to the closet before heading out with her mother.
A bashing sound could be heard from her mirror, Beej was of course trying to get through to see his best friend and wife-to-be, but was unable to. "Damn she's good." He mumbled to himself before slinking back away into his living room. Jacques and Ginger had stopped by his home to check to see if everything was going well.
"Beeatlejuice!" Jacques screamed out with delight, "I am so 'appy that you have dezided to ved ze beautiful Mizz Deetz!" A grin splay across his bony face.
"Yeah yeah…" He shook his head as he leaned back in his arm chair. "Just wish things didn't have to go the way they are."
"Are you talking about Lydia dying?" Ginger frowned, "It is most unfortunate, but she reaaally loves you Beetlejuice." The tap dancing spider sat on the top of the recliner, "How's she going to do it?"
"All I know is she plans on doin' it at our wedding up there. She suggested drowning, but I would prefer something not so painful to watch. Maybe something we could do together…" He sighed softly, running his red-tipped digits through his mane of messy greenish hair.
"Everything will be fine." Ginger reassured him, "And make sure you get lots of pictures. I know their weddings there are way different than ours!"
"Of course Ging…" He told her, getting up to find his suit. "She'll be calling for me in a few hours… At least I hope. I'd like to spend my last night up there before things happen there."
Several hours back on the Earth had passed, much to Beetlejuice's surprise Lydia summoned him to her bedroom. He greeted her with a rather tight hug and a kiss to her painted lips.
"Babes!" He cried out in excitement, "You have everything taken care of?"
"Of course B.J." Lydia nodded, handing him a key for his hotel room, "I even got you a place to stay while until our big day." She went to her closet and pulled out a suit to match her dress, "I hope it's to your liking I made it for you." Her fingers had become a bit swollen from needle picks and hard work.
"It's amazing Lydia. Thank you." The poltergeist admired the clothing briefly, then looked at his lover's gown hanging up.
"C'mon it's dinner time. I figure we should have a good meal with my parents before the big day." Lydia took him downstairs, leading him to the dining room. Her parents smiled a bit uneasily at the sight of the two entering the room.
"Mr. Beetleman!" Mrs. Deetz got up, "We would like to go ahead and welcome you into the family." A grin went from each side of her face.
"Thank you for allowing me to take your daughter's hand on such short notice. We've been planning the wedding for a while now." He admitted as Lydia seated them both.
"Of course. I am just happy she has found someone to make her happy." Charles looked at the couple, "We covered your hotel room for tonight and made reservations at a resort for after the ceremony. Two weeks to enjoy yourselves before going back to work."
Tears of happiness filled Lydia's eyes, they were mixed with a slight bit of pain. She knew that they wouldn't get to enjoy it. "Thank you so much dad. I really appreciate it." Her hand covered Beej's as he brought a hand up to wipe away her tears.
Delia began to dish out all of their plates as Lydia poured herself up a glass of sweet tea as well as one for Beetlejuice. "We will take you to your hotel room after supper. Charles will pick you up and take you to the pavilion in the morning."
Dinner was filled with laughter and memories but soon came to an end. Lydia herself was incredibly nervous about the next day, but bid Beetlejuice farewell with a soft kiss. "I will see you in the morning my love."
The following morning was relatively hectic for the young Goth woman. Her mother was beginning to do her hair and make-up before helping her into her dress. "Mother, I can't believe this is finally happening." She cooed as her friends made their way into Lydia's room, already dressed in their wedding attire. They were reverse colored to match Lydia.
"Oh Lydia… you look so beeeeyuuutiful!" Bertha snorted happily, bringing her friend in for a big hug. "Hope we'll still be a part of your life after this!" She giggled. She and Prudence had already had their hair and nails done before arriving.
"I think everything is together." Mrs. Deetz announced, "Shall we be going then?" Lydia nodded, making a final adjustment to her dress and eye make-up.
The ride to the lake was relatively quiet, the girls keeping to themselves. There hadn't been much rehearsal done, but that didn't truly matter to the Goth. She would make it to the dinner, but after her toast, things would end on earth forever.
Upon their arrival, Lydia admired the table decorations and headed to go through one last run through of the ceremony. Her glass and Beej's were both set at the spot at the center of the banquet table. Not that she would require it for too much longer…
Her friends had been nothing but supportive as they walked the steps before her, ready for her to have the happiest moment of her life. Bertha watched her friend come down the aisle, her long red train dragging through the soft sand.
"So are you ready for this Lydia dear?" Her father asked softly as they headed down for their quick little practice run.
"Of course I am father. It's what I've dreamed of my entire life." She assured him as they both got to the altar and she took her place. Her cheeks were flush red underneath her veil, ready to feel the soft ocean breeze against her skin. "I think I'm ready to do the real thing…" Lydia's life had been filled with waiting and she did not desire to wait any longer. Her bridesmaids quickly hurried her off back to the car as her groom to be emerged from the nearby pavilion.
Mr. Beetleman as everyone had known him was sharply dressed in a black and white pinstriped suit. His normal greased up hair was washed and properly trimmed. Slowly, he took his steps to the altar, each one in stride. Mr. Deetz narrowed his eyes a little, a bit astonished at the great amount of change now standing before him.
Beetlejuice looked at his bride's car, watching as each bridesmaid and their dates emerged. Each was very gorgeous in their matching gowns, but the last was the most astonishing. His dear sweet Lydia Deetz, face hidden out of his sight. The poltergeist felt as if his no longer beating heart was about to explode from his chest cavity. Every stitch in the dress complimented Lydia's curvy physique.
Her father brought her down the aisle, a bit nervous to see his little girl grow up and become a wife. He then handed her off to Beetlejuice who took her hands into his own, a smile spreading across his lips.
"Babe… It's show time." His palms were clammy and very cold. That though, Lydia had become accustomed to while they were dating.
The world seemed to stand still in that moment for Lydia. Every word escaping from the pastor's lips seemed to echo inside her head, just waiting, waiting to say I do. She repeated everything as asked, still absolutely nervous for what was to come next.
"I do…" She whispered softly, her hands squeezing Beej's tightly.
"I now pronounce you man and wife." The pastor declared, "You may kiss the bride." Beetlejuice did not have to be told twice, quickly lifting the veil to reveal his blushing wife behind it.
His lips locked onto hers as her arms found their way around his shoulders. Lydia bit playfully on his bottom lip, enjoying the kiss that bound them together for all eternity. She kept a tight lock on Beetlejuice until they slowly parted from their heated kiss.
The reception started shortly after the official ceremony ended. The small wedding party had been seated at their appropriate tables; Lydia, Beetlejuice and the bridal party sat at a table at the front. Lydia's glass was a solid red with black cobwebs lacing it. Her husband's was colored like his traditional suit back in the Neitherworld.
One of the servers had come around to begin pouring the champagne for the toast for the bride and groom. Lydia held the poltergeist's hand beneath the table, a small smile splay across her face as she thought about what was soon to come. Bertha got up from her seat as soon as her glass was filled up. With a spoon, she tapped her glass to get everyone's attention.
"I would like to propose a toast to my good friend and her groom." Bertha was a bit shaky, thinking about all the eyes that now looked directly at her. "My best friend since we were kids has made the biggest leap in her life into marriage, and I hope many many years of happiness and love for the two of them." She rose her glass, "Cheers to you- Mr. and Mrs. Beetleman!" A clinking of glasses filled the room as everyone began to swig from their glasses.
After the toast, Lydia seemed to feel a bit nauseated. Her plan was coming into fruition at last- she'd be gone soon, probably in the midst of desert. The girl's complexion had paled just a tad more as the poison began to pump vigorously through her veins. Beej took noticed, but managed to keep his calm. Though he couldn't help but think of how difficult making an escape was going to be. Her body would have to go with him.
Salads and entrees were served and only the cake remained. Lydia stood weakly on her feet, only to fall beside Beej. A strained whisper came from her lips, "Beetlejuice… take me home…" Before her eyes could close, she managed to chant the poltergeist's name and to the wedding party's disbelief and shock- the two had disappeared.
