Hello everyone! Okay, so...who hates me? *raises hand* Me too, no worries.

You guys have waited patiently for over a year for my next chapter.

I've been through some stuff I won't get into, but I had actually had this story FINISHED and then lost it all, and never had the time or resolve to re-write it. But, here I am now! And, hopefully, it'll be so amazing that you won't hate me no mores? :D

CHAPTER 7!

(Don't own Soul Eater or Kid or Soul or anyone, etc. etc... boo.)

Even though the next day was Sunday, technically the weekend, the boys had too many prior obligations to attend to and, alas, would have to wait until the next morning to see each other again. It was agony for both of them - but for mostly different reasons.

Kid awoke that morning in a state of euphoria that he'd never experienced. It seemed to him as if the sun shone brighter, the air was easier to breathe; everything felt incredible.

He stretched happily. feeling relaxed for the first time in nearly forever. Looking at the clock and noticing it read 8:10AM, he hopped out of bed and half-skipped to the shower. Though he knew he would be spending the day with his weapons instead of his boyfriend - oh how he loved the sound of that - he couldn't help but feel like today, and every day afterward, were going to be fantastic.

As Patty and Liz sat downstairs, munching on some leftover fruit from the night before, they both swore they could hear singing along with the running water coming from Kid's bathroom...

Soul, on the other hand, woke up in a near-panic. He'd fallen asleep that night only to be woken up by nightmares of being ripped to shreds by Lord Death, followed by a lot of tossing and turning and just generally questioning his existence. After only a couple hours of sleep, he was awoken by a loud knock, followed by a sing-song "Goodmooooorniiing!" from the hallway.

The white-haired boy grunted and lumbered out of bed, sliding on his t-shirt from last night. It smells like him... Soul thought, breathing in the scent of his memories.

He shook his head violently and scolded himself out loud. "Ugh, I can't act like this! It's been like, two days!" He started to pace the room, now visibly upset. "What am I gonna do...if Lord Death doesn't kill me, all the guys at school will! I probably won't have to worry about them, though, because he'll get to me first." Soul straightened up and, in his best impression of Kid's father, said "Oh, so you've been violating my boy, have you, hmm? Well, then, straight to Hell you go!" He added a violent slashing noise right as Maka entered the room.

He stopped dead, and for what seemed like eternity, the two just stared at each other.

Out of nowhere, Maka burst out laughing. "Soul," she giggled, "are you really imagining Lord Death killing you for dating Kid?"

Soul was not amused. "Oh, what, so you think he's just going to be totally fine with it and let us go on the way we are? Are you crazy?! He values two things more than anything - his son, and his academy. And I ain't tryin' to burn the school down! Of course he'll kill me, probably brutally, for basically ruining Kid!" With this, he slumped onto the floor and put his face in his hands, mortified and confused.

Maka's laughter stopped immediately. She sat down beside her scythe, concerned. "Soul...you haven't ruined him. Not even close. I've seen the way he looks at you, the way he admires you. If you've changed Kid at all, you've made him better." As she leaned over and embraced Soul's shoulders, she could feel him release a pained sigh.

The boy looked up into his meister's eyes. "Maka, I'm sure you can understand why I'm...petrified. I've never had feelings like this, and everything's happened so suddenly, and there are so many repercussions that neither of us had even thought to consider, and - "

"Hey," Maka interrupted, "I get it. But trust me when I say that you shouldn't worry. From an outside perspective, this is not something to get worked up over - it's just two boys who happen to really, really care for each other. And anyone who thinks there's something wrong with that...well, they've got us to deal with, don't they?" She smirked, but her eyes were serious.

Soul couldn't help but smile - Maka was always there for him, and he knew that she meant what she said. Although he didn't feel completely better, he stood up and made for the door.

Maka sat, a little confused, until her weapon spoke:

"You coming or what? We have stuff to do."

Kid dressed quickly, still humming a song he didn't quite know the words to, and bounded down to the kitchen. "Good morning, ladies! I'm starving - what's for breakfast?" He beamed.

The sisters looked warily from each other back to the reaper boy, dumbfounded. Patty spoke first.

"Hi, Kid! Um, there's a plate of fruit for you here," she gestured toward the bar on her right, "and also, why are you so happy? It's a little scary..." she whimpered.

Liz felt as if she could die in that moment. Why does she always have to be so dumb?

Kid laughed at the girls' confusion - was he really that solemn of a person that his happiness was scary? "I suppose it is strange for both of you to see me this way, but...I can't help it." He grinned.

They both softened at this remark. Liz finally opened up, and asked, "So...do you think it'll be like this forever? You and Soul, I mean?" She looked down, avoiding Kid's gaze, in case she'd said the wrong thing.

The reaper boy grinned widely and replied, "You know, I don't really know...but I hope so."

Both boys tried their hardest to make the rest of the day go by as quickly as possible. Through their respective companions' endless shopping and constant chattering, it was easier than either of them thought. Morning turned into afternoon, afternoon into evening, and before it was ever noticed, they'd gotten through a day without each other - with quite opposite results.

While Soul was grumpy, confused, and worried at the beginning of the day, he was now feeling relaxed and happy. He had a new-found confidence about himself and his relationship with Kid, and he was feeling, now more than ever, ready to face whatever was to come at school the next day. As a matter of fact, he had barely thought about it, and simply wanted to hold Kid again.

The reaper boy, as happy and carefree as he had started out, had reverted back to his paranoid, obsessive-compulsive ways by the time they arrived back at the mansion. He trudged inside, irritated, and began adjusting every decorative piece he could find in the main hall, as he had somehow overlooked it all this morning. While he, too, missed his other half a great deal, unpleasant thoughts were running rampant through his mind.

What happens if he realizes he doesn't actually care about me? Kid thought, a tear forming in his right eye as he straightened a mantelpiece. Or if he thinks it's not worth being made fun of at school? The tear rolled down his cheek as he dusted off a painting with his hand. What if father doesn't approve and scares him off? This thought caused another angry tear to push it's way out as the reaper boy adjusted a throw pillow on the sofa.

He plopped down in the seat and threw his head into his hands, frustrated. His weapons observed from the archway, confused.

"Do you think he's gonna be okay?" Patty inquired of her sister.

Liz shrugged. "I guess so...I think he's upset because he hasn't seen Soul all day."

Kid could hear the girls chattering from where he sat, but for once, he ignored them - he had better things to worry about.

...Sooo?!

Sort of anti-climactic, I know, but there are a few important little things in this chapter, but they're a little subtext-y. I hope you all picked up on it.

Originally, chapter 7 was to be the last, but I started writing and I couldn't help myself. :) And, since I've been such a douchenozzle and didn't post in A YEAR, I'm going to go write Chapter 8 - THE FINAL CHAPTER - right now and publish it as soon as it's done! No more waiting!

Oh and please please review this chapter, and please avoid yelling at me for being gone so long? ;-; Love you all!
