AN: Hey, sorry for not posting this sooner. I just honestly forgot. Hope you like it!
Back inside, Shawn finally stopped and turned to face Juliet. "That woman was creepy. Are you okay?"
"Shawn," Juliet gave him an odd look, "You do realize that you don't have to protect me, right? You're the civilian, I'm the cop. I'm the one with the gun, I should be protecting you."
"Really, Jules, what's a gun going to do if you can't see to shoot? And you didn't even see her there. And we are partners; we are supposed to look after each other. It's not a one way relationship."
"That's the kind of talk I want to hear. You guys are learning so quickly."
Juliet blushed from Merrygrove's intrusion, since she assume no one could hear them. Smiling Shawn said, "Thanks, doc! But we're going to go to bed early. We're exhausted," Shawn winked.
"Oh, I see. You two have fun!"
"Oh we will," Shawn raised an eyebrow and Juliet delivered a punch to his gut.
"Honey," Shawn grunted in pain, "You don't have to be embarrassed."
"Shawn-" she warned.
"Now, Juliet," Merrygrove cut in, "You know that we can't use violence-"
"It's okay, Dr. Merrygrove. It was a playful punch; she didn't mean any harm. It hardly hurt at all," Shawn lied through his teeth.
"Alright, but before you go, let me see that kiss."
Getting his revenge for the punch, Shawn grabbed Juliet by her ass and pulled her into a kiss, keeping her there with his other hand on the back of her neck.
…
"Shawn, if you grab my ass EVER again, I will-" Juliet threatened as they walk into their room.
"Hey, you punched me first. "
"You deserved it."
"No I didn't, I'd love to argue about it all night, but I have a very upset girlfriend to call."
"Shawn, we don't have time. We have to work on this case," Juliet hissed at him.
"I have to call Abby first. It's not like we were getting anything done anyway," Shawn stepped onto the balcony.
Juliet ran into the bathroom, slammed the door behind her, locked it, and sat down on the tub. You need to calm down. Why are you so upset? You have no reason to be. Just breathe. Despite her attempts to calm herself, tears of jealousy betrayed her and rolled down her cheeks, landing on her knees. She cradled herself in her arms, when her phone began to vibrate.
Looking down at the name on her phone, she picked up. "Hello, Chief."
"O'Hara, have you made any progress?"
"Yeah," she sniffled, "Sh-Shawn said to take a more thorough look through Merrygroves' background. You know, check out his ex, his kids, old jobs and such," she sniffled again, failing at holding back the tears.
"Are you okay?"
"Ye-Yeah, why?" she stammered through the tears she was trying not to let Chief in on.
"It sounds like you're crying. Did something happen? Where's Shawn?"
"He-he's outside, calling Abigail."
"Oh, okay," Chief sighed, putting together what Juliet couldn't put together herself yet, "Alright. Is that all?"
"Yeah, Shawn th-thinks there's a strong connection to Merrygrove, if it's not him, himself."
"Get some sleep, Detective."
"Yes, ma'am."
…
"Shawn?"
"Hey Abz."
"What the Hell, Shawn? Why the Hell haven't you called in three days?"
"I've been really busy-"
"Screwing the blonde whore?"
"Woah- wait a minute. Number one, she hasn't done anything to you. There is no need to say things like that. Number two, this is my job. It's not like I'm here with her by choice. And number three, you could have called me just as easily."
"Don't you dare try to blame this on me, Shawn."
"I'm not blaming it on you. I'm blaming it on both of us."
"I don't see how this is my fault at all. YOU are the one that took the job."
"Abby, I have to it's my job."
"No. You. Don't. Shawn."
"Abby-"
"No, Shawn. I want you to drop the case now. Come home."
"Abby, I can't. We are already in too deep, there are about a dozen lives at stake here."
"And a relationship. You can't be accountable for others lives, but Shawn you are accountable for this relationship. Come home."
"I can't."
"I don't even know why I bother."
"Abby, I don't want to fight, but I can't leave-"
The line went dead. She hung up on me. What the Hell is wrong with women today. They're all crazy.
"Jules," Shawn looked around the room for her as he walked back inside, when a pillow was thrown at his head. He looked up, saw Juliet crawling into bed and pointing at the floor for him.
"How's your girlfriend?" she snarled.
"What the Hell? What happened to 'I can't let you sleep in the cold'?"
"Well, apparently I keep getting in the way with you and your perfect relationship," she snapped back.
"I never said that. And if you must know, it's not a perfect relationship," Shawn looked to the floor, hugging the pillow subconsciously, "We're actually having a lot of trouble," he added with a sad sigh.
Juliet looked at him, her anger melting away. She couldn't stay mad at him, he was clearly having a hard time, and the look on his face killed her. After a couple minutes of studying his face that refused to make eye contact with her, she took a deep breath, "Shawn, I-I'm sorry. I overreacted."
Risking a glance up, "No, it's my fault. I've just been- in a weird place lately. I'm taking it out on you. I'm sorry."
"Shawn, it was me who overreacted. You have every right to call your girlfriend."
"No, Jules, it was-"
"Shawn, let's not get into a fight over who needs to apologize."
"Sorry."
"There you go again," she laughed.
Yawning, Shawn laid down, "Goodnight Jules."
"Shawn, what are you doing? You can sleep in the bed."
Sitting up, he smiled, "You miss me, huh?"
"It's cold."
He smiled, that answer was good enough. Jumping into the bed, he wrapped his arms around her. Inhaling, he smelled the coconut of her hair. God I love that smell.
