AN: I know I said I'd get this up Thursday, but for the last 3 days in a row I've been opening one job (waking up at 6:30 am) and closing the other (getting home between 1 and 4 am) and I still have to open and close tomorrow... where I'll have to deal with a bunch of drunk Bronco fans... I'm hoping they win because the fires will be nice instead of possibly about to kill me... maybe I should reconsider working downtown...
"Hey, Richard!"
"Hey love, how have you been?"
"Alright, I've been really busy, sorry I didn't call you last night, it was an overwhelming night," Juliet said the evening after her and Shawn's fight. Wow, I hardly know what day it is. It's easy to get lost in a bubble here.
"That's okay. I understand how it is to be a cop. Work comes first. So I was thinking, when you come home next week, we'll go out to Antonio's, that nice restaurant, then we can come back and relax in my hot tub, and just see how it goes from there?"
Juliet blushed as Shawn sat down next to her, she didn't know why, it's not like he could hear the conversation -could he? "That sounds nice."
"Great! It's a date."
"Alright, I'll see you then. I have to go, we have a baking party to go to."
"That sounds boring. I'm sorry."
"Actually, I'm excited for it. I love to bake."
"Oh. Okay. Well have fun."
"Okay, thanks. Talk to you later."
"Bye."
"Bye," Juliet hung up.
"So how's Dick?"
"His name is Richard, Shawn."
"Richard Shawn? Why does he have two names?"
"Shawn, please don't. Just stop, okay?"
"Sorry," he mumbled knowing she was still mad about their fake argument that once again turned real in their counseling session earlier.
…..
"You won't help me," Juliet yelled in frustration, "How am I supposed to know what to do if you won't give me a hint?"
"I wont give you a hint? You're the one that's back and forth and can't make up your mind."
"At least I'm not afraid to show my feelings! At least I can be serious for five damn minutes, unlike you, where whenever we make any progress you kill it and make a joke because you are too insecure to let people know how you really feel. At least I don't run away every time something hurts," Juliet knew it was low blow as she said it and really wished she could take it back, but he really frustrated her so much.
It really hurt Shawn more than he'd ever let her know. The thing was, it was all true. But he wouldn't let her get away with that. "Well guess what, Jules! I'm not joking now. And don't say I wont give a hint. I've tried, hell, I've gone way past hints and shoved it right in your face. But you don't want to see. And you know why? The same reason, that you are pissed at me. You're afraid of your feelings. You build up a wall so damn high that you don't even know what you feel anymore. You won't let anyone in no matter how much they try. And if they try to break down that wall and save you, you do the same thing as I do. You run. That's probably the real reason you left home isn't it? You couldn't deal with the pain, it wasn't the job-"
"Shawn-" Merrygrove tried to intervene, but it was already too late. Juliet was already out the door in tears.
Shawn was too furious to deal with her rationally, so he stayed seated until he could cool off.
Jules ran back to her room, crying, and called Kirsten. She needed someone to talk to, and while she would normally think to talk to Shawn, it wasn't a plausible choice in the current situation.
"Kirsten," she sniffled.
"What the hell happened to you? We haven't heard from you in weeks."
"I've been busy. I'm sorry."
"Are you crying? Are you okay?"
"No-" Juliet cried out the entire story to her best friend.
Ten minutes later, she was off the phone, and feeling better. Kirsten had explained to her that she didn't have feelings for Shawn, it was in fact the situation, and acting that was getting to her. She also told her that Shawn was acting in there and didn't mean anything, and she should, therefore also act like it didn't bug her and she was acting all along.
Juliet told herself she could do it, and took a deep breath and washed her face.
There was a knock on the door. Juliet went to open it. "Hey Shawn."
"Hey. I'm sorry if I said anything that hurt you. I was-I was just acting the part- you know?"
"Oh, no. It's fine. I was too."
"Oh, okay. Just making sure."
"Yeah, I was actually going to check up on you too. To make sure you were okay. You seemed pretty upset."
"Oh. No. I'm just a good actor, I suppose," Shawn lied through his teeth, "So we're good?"
"Yeah," Juliet forced a smile.
…..
"You're not still mad about earlier are you?"
"Shawn, I've already told you I'm not upset. Let's just drop it and have fun at the party, okay?"
"Sure."
"We should lace the old up-tight couple's brownies!"
"Shawn, number one, we don't have anything to do that with. Number two, it's illegal. Number three, that probably won't even loosen them up. And number four, do you forget that I'm a cop?"
"No, you're a kindergarten teacher."
Juliet sighed. There wasn't even a point to arguing. She had had enough of it today.
"Oh! The Spencers," Merrygrove greeted them in the kitchen, "How did my two make up today?"
They both smiled. "We had a long talk, apologized, and are ready to discuss it more rationally in our meeting tomorrow."
"Very nice, Mr. Spencer. Now let's see that make up kiss!"
They were used to this by now, four days of it made it almost habit. Without hesitation, Shawn cupped his hand on the back of her neck and leaned down and kissed her.
Juliet was prepared for a kiss, but not a kiss like this. It was desperate, it was hard, it was all consuming. Shawn needed the kiss, he didn't realize that, of course. But he needed to release all his anger, all his passion- every last feeling. He hated her so much for making him feel, making him love her, even if it was subconscious. He took it all out in that kiss.
Confused, Juliet didn't kiss back at first. She actually tried to pull away, a bit frightened. But Shawn wouldn't give up that easily. He kissed her harder, forcing her mouth open, and before she knew it, Juliet was kissing back just as passionately. She couldn't stop herself. Her mind was screaming at her to and she wanted to obey, but couldn't gain her control. Then finally, her mind stopped fighting and she gave into the kiss completely. Before she knew it, her body was up against a wall, and Shawn's hands in her hair, pulling. A couple seconds later, gasping for air, they broke the kiss.
Looking down into her eyes, Shawn couldn't believe what had happened. It was supposed to be another innocent, fake kiss. When did it turn into that, why did Jules let it?
She stared back into his eyes, searching for an answer, but found nothing. She was so lost and emotionally confused. She wanted to curl into a ball and cry. She thought about it, but got distracted by the clapping around them.
Breaking eye contact, the looked around them. Dr. Merrygrove, the employees, and the other couples were applauding them.
"Well, it seems you to have had a breakthrough. That is the most passion, purest passion I have seen yet."
…..
"Hey Chief," Juliet answered her phone, setting it on the bed and turning it on speaker so both her and Shawn could hear.
"Hey, we got the info back for you guys."
"Yeah?"
"Apparently Merrygrove's ex had some problems. She's been going to a psychiatrist and anger management sessions since she was 16 when she attacked another girl in her school."
"Wow. I don't understand why she get's to keep the kids if she is the one with the problems."
"Kids, O'Hara?"
"Yeah. She must have the kids, when we ran into her in the woods the other night, she said she was there to pick up the child support."
"O'Hara, they don't have any kids."
AN: Sorry I didn't edit this one up as much as the others. I'm really, really tired. And you don't understand how horrid my grammar was four years ago. But i hope you enjoyed the chapter. Review please!
