AN: And here's the next chapter! Hopefully by the time I post the next chapter, I'll have the new chapter written...I have a basic outline finally, with a lot of help from a couple people, who helped me filter out the insanity and spark ideas. Thanks guys! It looks like this fic is going to be 27/28 chapters plus an epilogue, so we're almost there guys!
"Shawn, are you sure this is safe?"
"As safe as a snake."
"Snakes are dangerous, Shawn."
"I've heard it both ways."
Due to the darkness, Shawn couldn't see Juliet role her eyes or the smile set on her face. They continued toward the forest, keeping their eyes peeled for the ex wife.
"Shawn, she was here last night, what makes you think she'll be here again?"
"The spirits are telling me that we need to go to the forest. I think it is to find her, but for all I know they could be trying to get us alone together," Shawn smirked.
"Shawn-"
"What are you doing out here? Didn't I warn you two last night not to be out here?"
"Wait! Jules, not all snakes are dangerous! Those green garden snakes aren't," Shawn shot a finger at her.
"Gardner snakes, Shawn," Juliet rolled her eyes without taking them off the lady in front of them.
"What are you two on about?" Patricia Merrygrove asked, stepping threateningly close to Juliet.
"Woah," Shawn pushed between them, knocking his hand on something in Patricia's. Glancing down he saw a file in her hand he read it as he mediated, "Let's keep it cool."
Adrenaline spiked through his body as he realized that the file in her hand had his and Juliet's name on it. An idea crossed his mind. They had never made it to the forest and the garden lights were bright enough to allow him to see what she had in that file.
Shawn began coughing, and pretended to reach for Patricia's shoulder, knocking the file to the ground instead, which sent the papers flying everywhere. Shawn then bent down to help her pick up the papers as an excuse to scan and put to memory what he had seen.
Picking up the first two papers he saw, he gasped, realizing what they were. Scans of Dr. Merrygrove's paperwork on Juliet and him. The first one contained personal information on the "Spencers" and the second one began:
Mr. and Mrs. Spencer
Day Three
While there is much hostility and anger, it is not towards one another, rather towards their own insecurities. They disguise this as hostility toward one another. With some discussion and openness from both, all issues can be dissolved.
I am thrilled to find a love so pure, most let go of this kind of love for security and convenience. I have no doubt in my mind that they will be voted as most improved couple. If anyone has a chance to make it they do.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"I'm helping you pick up your-"
"You're reading my papers aren't you?"
"Juliet, go inside, love."
"Shawn, I'm not-"
"It's not a request."
"Men. They're always so demanding," Patricia laughed. "That's just how it starts, he'll betray you in the end. But go on and listen to him. Just remember dear, Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy."
Juliet's eyes narrowed in anger. She glanced at Shawn and knew he would have it no other way than for her to go inside. He is so damn frustrating. He does realize that I'm the cop with a gun and he's a civilian, right? But no, he thinks he has to protect me.
"Juliet-"
"Alright, I'm going."
"Listen," Shawn started, "I was just being a good Samaritan and-"
"Good Samaritan my ass! You're a man. All you do is crush those around you to lift yourself up. You betray us, you-"
"You don't even know me."
"Yes I do. You're just like every Tom, Dick, and Harry. You're a man, they're all the same."
"I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm going to go back inside and leave you to whatever you are doing. Can you promise me no one will get hurt?"
"Ha! I'm not going to hurt anyone more than you will. I think the worst part is that poor girl can't even begin to believe me. She has so much faith in you. You are going to kill her once you're done using her-"
Losing his temper, Shawn got in her face, "I will never hurt her. I-"
"Careful, dear. She's watching from the window. You don't want her to see your true colors do you."
"You will not go near her."
"I would never hurt her. I need to give her a chance to survive once you're done with her."
"I'm going inside. I'm going to forget we ran into you. And in return you will leave her alone. Are we clear?"
"Go on. Run, Romeo. Just remember, Juliet dies because of you."
-
"Shawn," Juliet pulled him inside and pulled him in for a hug, "Oh my God, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Let's just go to bed."
"Mr. and Mrs. Spencer-"
They both jumped as Dr. Merrygrove walked into the room.
"Dr. Merrygrove-"
"You are out after curfew. We specifically ask that you don't break curfew."
"Juliet was getting antsy. We needed some fresh air and a walk. We just strolled around and came back in."
"You went outside? Are you crazy? That is unbelievable! Do you know how dangerous she-"
"Dr. Merrygrove? Is there something dangerous out there that we should be worried about?"
"I- uh- just, uh- coyotes. Why don't you two head to bed?"
"Yes sir."
AN: I hope you liked it. And to ease your worries, I promise, the next chapter holds a bunch of Shules-y moments. :) Review please!
