I am terribly sorry that these chapters are so inconsistent, but I had so much TROUBLE with this one, I could not for the life of me get it flowing the way I wanted but in the end I just gave up =3=. Enjoy it!

The only sound that could be heard in the courtyard at that moment was the gushing water flowing from the fountain. In front of that particular fountain there was a heavy pregnant pause as Mishima Jun found herself being held up several feet in the air, feeling very much like a baby lion cub being presented to the gathered herds of animals that dwelled amongst the African plains; however, instead of looking down amongst said animals, she was instead looking down at the infamous Ritsu Kasanoda.

It was hard to judge just whom was currently the brighter shade of red, Kasanoda, Jun herself or Ritsu Kasanoda's hair.

The usually stoic, intimidating first year suddenly seemed to be aware of what he was doing. His eyes widened in embarrassment and he let out a noise that sounded like 'ma'. He jumped , before dropping her none to gently onto the ground, trying to hide his embarrassment with a cough. Jun let out a startled yelp as she fell, landing quite shakily she stumbled for a moment, but somehow she miraculously managed to catch herself from falling. She winced however as the sudden jolt caused her head to give a rather painful throb, putting both hands behind her damp head she could feel the pulse beneath her fingers, aching and tender and.. wait.. Jun blinked open an eye as she brought her left hand forward to see that the tips of her fingers were red.

Oh gosh she was bleeding.

She let out a slight hiss of pain before hastily bringing the hand back to cover the spot once more, this was not good. "You're bleeding!" Kasanoda stated in a rather alarmed tone, staring at her reddened hands before turning to glare in the direction where the culprits had run off to; a feral growl emitting from him as he did so. "It... it probably looks worse than it is" the petite girl mumbled, wincing as she applied more pressure to her head before looking up at the boy in front of her.

Her eyesight was quite poor without her glasses, for the most part she could make out the blue and white uniform, and a vibrant shade of red on top of his head; but the actual details of his face was lost on her; however he seemed to radiate a type of strong power, certainly stubborn and headstrong, from what she had seen so far at least. Even amidst her bleeding skull and poor vision her brain still seemed to sink into its usual routine with trying to come up with Kasanoda's 'character device'.

A few moments of silence passed, Jun awkwardly looked away, trying to figure out Kasanoda's character type just as the first year himself let out a derisive snort "what you're defending those jerks?" he asked disbelievingly "wha- no!" she spluttered, completely crashing her own train of thought; her eyes widening in mortification at the very suggestion "in case you didn't notice they kind of shoved you face first into a fucking fountain!" he shouted down at her with a wild expression. Jun's face was reddening, her jaw clenched slightly; of course she 'noticed' that they had shoved her face first into a ... 'fucking'... fountain. She was standing here wasn't she!? Soaking wet too!?. However her social awkwardness wouldn't permit her to voice such an opinion, instead she sucked in a shaky breath and closed her eyes.

Her lack of response seemed to bring Kasanoda back to his senses, his eyes widened suddenly in realisation of what he had done 'shit' he thought to himself as he looked away from the girl. He barely even knew this chick and here he was barking at her like a deranged hellhound! Fuck... he was supposed to be helping her! She just got shoved into a fountain, and fuck it those bitches made her blee-... oh shit.

He suddenly launched his arm forward, grabbing the soaking girl by the wrist and pulling her towards him as he started off to the school, Jun for her part let out a sudden yelp of fright "w-what are you doing!?" she stuttered, her face turning an interesting shade of cherry as she stumbled behind the first year "what does it look like I'm doing?" he didn't look back as he addressed her " I'm taking you to the infirmary, you probably have a concussion or some shit" "B-But my bag!" she protested, craning her head back to the fountain where her satchel lay against the concrete with its precious contents threatening to spill out, Kassanoda answered quickly without looking back at the elder student "you can get a new one"

Jun bristled in anger making a snipped comment before she could filter her mouth to keep it in "it's not a matter of 'getting a new one' it's the fact that it is a perfectly good bag! Not to mention my books are in there!" She stared firmly up at the tuff of red hair which slowly started to turn. Kasanoda Ritsu stared very intensely down at her one eyebrow arched in disbelief, he didn't say anything but just stared at her as if she had a second head sprouting from her neck.

Jun felt the heat rise from her neck all the way up to her hairline, her knees where trembling ever so slightly under the look. Swallowing a lump she looked down at her shoes which were slightly blurred due to the absence of her glasses.

The pregnant silence lasted several moments before the younger classman shook his head with a roll of his eyes and continued walking towards the building, dragging the elder student behind him. Jun kept her unfocused gaze towards the ground, her outburst at Kassanoda had shook her, she was reserved, she was a wallflower, she wanted to keep to herself and draw as little attention as possible, it was her routine the best way to keep her social fears at bay. However that.. tone that he had used, as if she was just another young heiress who was superficial about everything, replacing a bag that she had living memory with as if it meant absolutely nothing?

It pushed a button she never knew that she possessed, and now she felt a strange mix of shame, embarrassment; another... strange sensation that she couldn't quite place her finger on. But above everything else there was that searing, burning pain on the back of her head and the pulsing blood that was slowly oozing out.

As they entered the academy Jun wondered for a brief moment if the medical staff have ever dealt with any actual injuries from students, other than fainting, hyperventilating young students...

***************************************************************************

It turned out that actual injuries where quite uncommon in the Ouran Academy, so much so that it was treated as a potential lawsuit by the wealthy investors and parents of the students that almost instantly Jun found herself on a deluxe bed, completely surrounded by several of the medical staff whom worked in the academy, however it was common knowledge that although they where highly trained, each family had their own team of private doctors.

They where bustling around her, one male nurse fluffing her pillow whilst trying to soothe her to relax whilst his superior was preparing a kit beside him. They where joined by two people, a man and woman in suits who where no doubt part of the chairman's legal team, asking her what had happened.

Kassanoda had left the instant he had dragged her there and honestly, Jun could not blame the boy. The shriek that one of the nurses gave when he bursted through the doors dragging a staggering, bleeding girl and demanding a doctor... it was something out of an apocalyptic film. No doubt there would probably be rumors spread that he was the one who hurt her. Jun frowned, he was by no means compassionate or gentle... but still, in his own brutish and insensitive way he had tried to help. And that was enough.

"Miss Mishima" Jun looked over as the female lawyer sat opposite her bed, she was a middle aged woman, with a long face and prominent cheekbones. She smiled at Jun in a way which convinced the girl that she had been forced to smile for so long that she could not muster a natural one "could you please, in your own words tell us what happened".

Jun frowned slightly; her head was stinging, the doctor had put disinfectant on her cut but was told not to take any further action until Juns' guardian was notified. The second year sucked in a slight breath as she tried to straighten her thoughts.

"I was having lunch" she mumbled, staring at the skewed patterns on the bed sheets "Then a group of girls came towa-" "do you know who the young ladies where?" the woman questioned, writing down on a notebook, from behind her companion stood forward a younger man whom had been observing beforehand "did you have any quarrels with them which would have provoked a dispute?" he quickly added. Jun briefly shut her eyes and swallowed, the confrontational tone was not lost, "no... I recognised one of the girls, a third year... her name is... um.." her voice was wavering, growing quieter. She wanted to leave, to go home and bury herself under her blankets and just sleep. Pretend today never happened, pretend everything was alright.

Before the suits could get the name of the student, once again the doors to the infirmary shot open and two figures walked in side by side. The first was a tall bald black man; he was young but had a hard, stern face. He strode in with confidance, despite the fact that he was receiving many, many looks from both the medical staff and the lawyers. He was not bothered by this, his only concern at that moment was sitting, distressed on a bed. Jun breathed a loud sigh of relief

'Tohmas'

To his right was a shorter woman who looked to be no older than twenty, she had a round, soft face which was at that moment barely contained in fury. She was dressed in a black driving uniform and hat, her hair in a single braid which went halfway down her back.

'Suzume'

"What. Is the meaning of this!" Tohmas barked as he strode up to the lawyers who were flabbergasted at the notion that this... man acted like he owned the place, they simply stared, jaws gaping. Tohmas took this moment to turn his body so that his full focus was on the girl in the bed "Jun" he frowned sympathetically, his tone much softer and the English accent that shows his heritage began to seep through "are you ready to leave?" he asked, placing a hand on the side of her face. Jun nodded as Suzume came to the bedside table, frowning at it before turning to the nurse whom was still staring at Tohmas "where are Miss Mishima's belongings?" she questioned with narrowed eyes, the man beside her jumped at being reminded to her presence but also the sharpness of her tone "forgive me Miss.. but Miss Mishima did not bring any belongings with her" "Well I can't see how she could carry her own belongings after suffering a head wound!" she bit back sarcastically "why has no one collected them? I thought this was an elit-"

"Suzume!"

The young woman bit her tongue and cast a side glare to Tohmas whom was looking at her as if he was a child who was throwing a temper tantrum "Take Jun out to the car please, The sooner she gets herself seen to by actual trained medical staff, the sooner we can put this mess behind us" Suzume nodded and moved back to help Jun out of the bed, Jun for her part seemed to resemble a hedgehog of some kind, trying to close in on herself to escape the tense atmosphere in the room.

Upon hearing the cutting remark regarding the training, or lack thereof; of the medical staff the head doctor had snapped out of his fish-like state of opening and closing his mouth and looked insulted "I beg your pardon sir, but I will NOT be talked to with such disrespect, especially by the likes of a-" He was cut off by a severe look from Tohmas and a startled look from Jun, who was being quickly ushered out by Suzume "whatever you have to say to me, you will say it once Miss Mishima is out of the room. I will not have you cause her any further distress than you already have." His tone was low, quiet even but it still bore so much command that forced the experienced head doctor to silence.

As Suzume lead a visibly drained Jun out of the room she risked a small, sly smirk.

'Those morons are so in for it'
********************************************************************

Now that she was in the familiar confines of the small family limousine, Jun, although still very pale; had now finally allowed herself to relax somewhat. Suzume had taken off her drivers hat and now sat, slouched beside her in the back of the limousine dropping any decorum she had displayed earlier in front of the 'audience'.

"so which one of these pompous prick's asses do I have to kick?" she asked calmly, casting Jun a side glance "and don't try and bullshit me by telling me you 'fell' or 'tripped' or some crap" Jun allowed herself a slight smile "Tohmas told you not to swear in front of me", "Tohmas says a lot of things" Suzume shot back.

Abe Suzume , she had been employed by Jun's father almost three years ago. She was the only daughter and youngest child to a power hungry lawyer who wanted to use his children to take over one of Tokyo's largest firms, he had planned to use his sons to take over the company by means of placing them in different positions. They had each studied law and where brilliant, however he never gave his daughter the chance, instead planned to wed her off to one of the elder board member's family, as an added insurance of securing the firm for himself and for his sons.

Once Suzume caught wind of that plan she was outraged, she wanted no part in being wed to some old geezer or his son. The repercussion of her refusal to do as her father commanded resulted on her being disowned and cast out of the family. Fortunately, she had somehow came across Jun's father, what the circumstances where she still does not know.

What she DOES know was that Suzume was hired to be Jun's bodyguard, which caught the young girl off guard because Jun had never thought that she needed a bodyguard, however she was a lonely, only child with a father who spent most of his time working. She saw past her father's strange choice in casting Suzume in the role of 'knight', in reality Suzume was to be a friend, an 'elder sister' of sorts for Jun.

She smiled at the older girl, it dropped however at the look she received in return "well?" Suzume prompted "what happened?" Jun sighed heavily, taking a moment to replay things in her tender head "It started the other day..."

***********************************************************

Kassanoda was sprinting back towards the medical wing, Jun's bag draped over his shoulder and a pair of wet spectacles clutched in his right hand. He didn't know why he had rushed back to the fountain to get her stupid bag and he REALLY didn't know why he went fishing in the water when he spotted the gleam of a pair of glasses, for all he knew they weren't even hers! But then again... maybe she wore glasses, maybe that's why she didn't seem as terrified as him as the rest of the girls usually where...

Shit.

He didn't want her to be afraid, he had enough useless creeps cower at him every time he attempted a greeting, perhaps thats why he didn't try so much anymore. He had his boys, they were enough.

Or so he had thought, there was something in the way she had looked at him when she had started rambling about the stupid bag, it was a fire in that look, challenging him and it had caught him off guard. No one had ever looked at him in that way, well; at least not without fainting afterwards. Ritsu panted as he approached the South-East wing where the infirmary was located. He didn't know what he would accomplish with giving this chick her bag, some sort of invitation to be her friend? All he knew was that he wanted to spend some time with her again sometime, but he could do without the whole 'bleeding' drama.

As he finally caught the door to the medical wing his pace slowed as he heard loud shouting coming from within the room, brows quirked in curiosity he approached, listening to the enraged voice rage on "IS THIS THE SERVICE WE ARE TO EXPECT FROM AN ELITE ACADEMY!? ASSAULT?" 'sir if you would ju-" "I AM NOT FINISHED!" Kassanoda flinched as the door shook, he was unaware of edging closer to lean upon it until the oak trembled against his skin. "IT IS DISGUSTING THAT YOU HAVE ALLOWED HARM TO COME TO MISS MISHIMA, BUT..." there was a pause, quickly followed by a gentle chuckle, a male laugh which sounded nothing like the barking voice before but Ritsu was certain it was the same voice "The FACT that you idiots don't even have appropriate equipment to keep proper SURVELIENCE on the students in your premises-" "sir we have the privacy of our students to consider-" "DOES IT SOUND LIKE I AM FINISHED?!" There was a deep inhale of breath "rest assured, this is not the last any of you will hear from this, the chairman WILL hear from Mr. Mishima and when that happens I dread to think of what will happen to you" there where footsteps, followed by an usher of voices "sir, there is really no need-" "perhaps an agreement can be made"

Ritsu Kassanoda had barely enough time to pull himself back from the door before they had burst open and he came standing face to face with a black man. The shock of that had caught him off guard for several moments until he realised that he was gawking openly at the man all the while he was blocking the door.

There were three of them, the black man and two suits. The medical staff and nurses behind them. The man simply stared, an unpleasant expression on his face as if he had a migraine. The first year swallowed, taking an awkward step back "uh sorry.." he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck, looking at the doctor closest to the door "I'm looking for.. uh.. um" his eyes widened in a sudden realisation 'shit, I don't know her name'. His eyebrows narrowed as he furiously tried to remember, in their short conversation they had never exchanged names with each other.

'Fuck'

Before he could think any further he was interrupted "what business do you have with Miss Mishima?" the man asked calmly, he still looked irritated but his tone bore no hostility "Uh.. how did you know I was-" "you came her looking for someone yet you don't seem to be in need of any medical attention" came the response as the man took a step closer.

"Oh..."

Ritsu shook himself, 'come on you're of the Kassanoda syndicate! You command several hundred men and have the respect of several hundred more familes! Talk to this guy and quit snivelling like a pussy' "she left her stuff" he blurted, shooting out his arms inches from the man's face, one which held her bag, the other holding a pair of glasses. The man blinked, eyebrows arched before turning to face the staff "how does it feel to have a young student more competent than several adults? I wonder"

The 'several adults' narrowed their eyes, some clenched jaws whilst others smiled nervously, wanting to keep the peace. The man turned back to Kassanoda, smiling pleasantly and taking Jun's belongings from him "what is your name young man?" he asked. Kassanoda straightened, squaring his shoulders "Kassanoda Ritsu, of the Kassanoda syndicate". There was a cold freeze between several of the adults, if the man knew of his name or his reputation he did not show it; instead he nodded "well Kassanoda Ritsu, on behalf of Miss Jun I thank you for your service" he nodded his head before striding off, quickly followed by the two lawyers.

Kassanoda could only stand, watching the man as he left; he arched his head back and let out a soft hum "Jun.." he murmured to himself "weird name".

Author's notes.

I just want to remind of a few things, Jun only has a short staff that work in her household, Suzume, the driver/bodyguard, Tohmas the.. well for lack of better words 'nanny' more will be said about him in the next chapter, and the cook who has been mentioned before but will be properly introduced in the next chapter.

Unfortunately there was no host club shenanigans in this chapter but it will definitely be made up for ^^
