Chapter One

Naruto ran down the busy market streets, in a hurry hoping that she would be late to the ninja academy again. Her long red hair was flowing behind her like a shadow as she picked up her pace, knowing that Iruka-sensei would scold her for being late. When she finally reached the school she was out of breath and she thought that her heart would beat out of her chest but she did not slow until she reached the class room. As she opened the door for the class room, her class mates stopped their talking to stare at her until she took her seat. Even after Naruto taken her seat, no one spoke until Sakura and Ino showed up both declaring that the other would sit by Saskue Uchiha. Both Sakura and Ino were still fighting another when girl announced who Naruto was sitting by.

"Look! Naruto is sitting by Saskue Uchiha-kun!" the girl said loudly getting all of the girls in the class attention.

Peaking over to her right Naruto could see that the one girl was absolutely right, she was sitting next to the Saskue Uchiha. Her tan skin going pale as she turned to her left seeing that all of the other girls in the class stared at her with more hate than their usual dislike, Naruto was about to stand. Both Sakura and Ino came storming over to Saskue's and Naruto's table preparing to yell.

"Listen, Naruto! Who do you think you are by just sitting next to Saskue like is just an ordinary student? And what makes YOU think that you could sit with him?" both girls seemed in perfect synchronization as they yelled at Naruto.

"Because unlike you two, I don't warship the ground that Saskue walks on!" Naruto explained as her anger boiled over "and it's not a big of a deal if I sit by another class mate!" continued as she stood up, out of her chair.

"Here take the stupid chair I don't care!" she said finally as the two girls just stared at her with anger and hate.

Just as Naruto started to move away from the chair, a hand reached out and grabbed her with gentleness, holding her. She turned her head to see that Sasuke standing out of his chair, holding her wrist and hear the other two girls gasped dramatically. Sasuke didn't seem like he was even paying any attention to Ino or Sakura as he stared at Naruto with his deep obsidian eyes, speaking to her.

"You can stay in the seat next to me Naruto. I rather have you sit next to me than Sakura, Ino or any other girl," He explained keeping his voice low so only Naruto could hear him.

Nobody not even the two girls that were stand next to their desk heard the words that Sasuke had told Naruto. But then the teacher came in to see Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Ino all standing around the lone desk and all the other students watching the four intently.

"Sakura and Ino please find your seats," Iruka spoke up hoping to draw the attention away from Naruto and Sasuke.

"But sensei I was going to sit next to Sasuke-kun and Naruto took my seat," Sakura lied, whining hoping to get Naruto into trouble.

"Well I'm sorry Sakura I told Naruto to sit next to Sasuke so that she could understand more techniques,"

"But sensei I-"

"That is enough Sakura please take your seat next to Ino," Iruka said firmly, making his statement final as he pointed to the empty seat.

Sakura with no choice went and sat next Ino, as Iruka-sensei was finally started the class for the day. With Ino and Sakura in their seats Naruto had taken her seat next to Sasuke, paying close attention to the teacher. Near the end of class, Iruka broke the students up into pairs to fill out the assignment they were given. All of the students began working quietly together, as Iruka finished explaining what they were to accomplish by the end of class.

"You all may talk quietly but please keep it to a minimal," Iruka said as he moved to his own desk.

As the class busied themselves with the worksheet, Naruto took her chance to thank Sasuke about what had happened the beginning of the class.

"Um…thank you, Sasuke," she whispered to him as they both finished the assignment.

"Hn," he said as took the finish worksheet from her and took it to Iruka-sensei.

Naruto didn't say anything else as Iruka moved to the front of the room to tell the class about their actives after lunch.

"Ok everyone, the transformation test is going to be after lunch. So please save up your energy for the test. Have a great lunch!" Iruka said as the lunch bell rang.

Knowing it was better to find a good hiding spot before the other girls in the class found her; Naruto was the first to leave the class room. Once outside, Naruto scanned the courtyard and she found the tree with a swing. Making sure no one was following her, Naruto made her way over to the tree, ignoring the swing she climbed the tree to a branch were nobody could see her but she could see everyone else.

As the minutes slowly crawled along, Naruto thought about the morning class and how everyone in the class seem to treat her like she was not worth being in the same room.

"I hate it" she said to herself in anger.

"What do you hate Naruto?" a voice below her ask.

Naruto was startle when she heard the voice below her because she knew that the voice could only belong to Sasuke Uchiha. Looking down Naruto spotted Sasuke leaning against her tree that she was hiding in. sighing Naruto decide to ignore his question and ask him her question instead.

"Why do you care Sasuke?"

"I don't but tell me anyway," he said coldly.

"I don't have to tell you anything you!" roared Naruto as her temper flared.

"Hn," was all he said.

Choosing to ignore him completely, Naruto jumped down from the tree just as the lunch bell finally rang for the students to return to their class rooms for the test. Without looking back at Sasuke, Naruto decided to head to the class room but was stop by none other than Sakura instead.
