Episode 1 part 2/2: Meet the people
Dimitri smirked in triumph as he dashed down the track. He turned his head around fully to see the other contestants were even nowhere near him. In fact, they appeared as tiny specs in the background, yeah that's how far he was. Already could he hear the cheers of some of the folks in the crowd, while others stood from their seats, eagerly watching and waiting for probably him to win the race already. Miles was one of those people as he watched with excited and eager eyes. Dimitri's smirk widened.
'Eh, once I win this thing, I'll take him to go see that new science movie he wanted to go see. What was it again? ...Gravity?' he thought. But he was interrupted from his thoughts once he heard faintly blasting music. Scar was right behind him, listening to his Ipod. He seemed oblivious to the world around him at the moment.
Dimitri blinked in surprise. 'Whoa, where did he come from?'
The confident bad boy felt like he was being watched, so he looked up locking eyes with Dimitri. He grinned and took out his ear plugs, focusing more on Dimitri than his music.
"Hey Snot, nice race we'e havin', huh?" he smirked. Dimitri had to snort, but he returned the grin.
"Yeah you're right. We are having a pretty good race, aren't we?" he said, pumping his legs to go faster as he sped up. Scar copied him. "But we all know who's the obvious winner gonna be." Scar's grin widened slightly as he shook his head.
"I see you're still going on about that. If only your thick skull could understand the truth." he grinned. "Eh, don't worry. I'll make that happen."
If Dimitri could, he would've shrugged his shoulders. But since that couldn't happen right at the moment, he just simply rolled his eyes. "Yeah sure, keep telling yourself that. Right now, I've got a race t-"
Suddenly, Scar's eyes widened into tiny little dots as his mouth hung opened. This caused Dimtri's confidence to fade and be replaced with confusion instead. Even his speed slowed down slightly, so now he was right beside Scar. But he didn't care, and continued to look at the terrified Scar instead. Wait, hold up a minute! Dimitri second glanced at Scar.
Was that actual fear in those eyes?
Dimitri rubbed his eyes, making sure they weren't playing tricks on him. Yep, that was fear alright. But the question was... why? This only made an uneasy feeling grow in the pit of his stomach, as he gulped slightly. He decided to get his answer already.
"H-hey, Scar. Why the long face?" he asked, even waving his hand in front of his rival's face. But he got no response. "Hey, come on! Tell me already!"
But instead of giving a response, Scar grabbed Dimitri's head with his hand and turn it forward. Dimitri's would've slapped his hand away, had it not been for the sight ahead of him. He gasped, his eyes widening and mouth hanging slightly open.
"What the?"
Have you felt like you ever wanted to black out because of your lack of breath. Have you ever felt like you were being squeezed by a Boa Constrictor or a Cobra, and your life was slowly slipping away? Have you ever felt like you were about to see your life flash before your eyes? That's exactly what our little two tailed chao friend here felt like for he thought he was slowly running low on breath. A large metallic ...tentacle held a deathly grip around his small throat as it rose higher in the air. The fox chao looked over to see Rhythm struggling to breathe in the other tentacle on the opposite side from him. He looked like he was ready to die at any moment! TK whimpered fearfully as he closed his eyes.
How could this had happen? Sure it seemed like a violent earthquake at the time, but it was normal to have chao of all kind run around in a wild panic. What wasn't normal however, was a huge ...squid like machine( from what TK could tell) rise up from the ocean, and start snatching nearby chao from off the ground. Unfortunately, both TK and Rhythm were in its range. Once in it's clutches from all eight tentacles, it started to squeeze the life out of the chao victims, literally.
TK gasped as he felt another wind tooken out of him. He swear his face was beginning to turn from yellow to blue. Looking over, fear suddenly struck him as he noticed a passed out Rhythm. The poor guy didn't look like he was breathing, but then again, he was too far away to even tell. TK's vision finally begin to blur as he begin slipping into the darkness. The last thing he heard was a shout of fury, and something hard connecting with metal. Somehow, that shout sounded a little familiar, but TK wasn't really sure, because it was already too late...
Speeding through the less damaged side of the island in a small blue blur was Rush the Hedgehog Chao, determination completely on his face. There were chao of all sorts screaming, crying, and well, flying or running madly all around, trying to escape from the violent earthquake. This only caused the hedgehog chao to frown as he sped up, even more determined to find his buddy. Unfortunately he didn't get too far once he noticed a certain chao panicking, squealing loudly in fright. He was probably the loudest chao on the island. Rush sighed, but he decided to check on him anyway. Dashing to him, the chao skidded to a complete halt. Any chao this close like this panicking one here would've easily heard that, if they weren't trying to make others go deaf. Rush quickly leaped behind him and placed a hand finger less, round hand on the other's shoulder.
"Hey Tony, you alright?" he asked concernedly. Like Rush, Tony was a Mobian breaded chao. He was a Coyote Chao. He was a caramel brown color, had crystal blue eyes, a tuff of blonde hair on his forehead, a blonde furry muzzle, a blonde torso, a white strap on the side of his hip, a red wristband, and a smooth coyote tail. Aside from this, there's one thing Rush let slip his mind. You must never, and I mean NEVER spook Tony. If you do, you won't like the results so much.
Tony squealed once again and suddenly without warning, curled into a small spinning ball, his tail somehow sticking out from it. Increasing his speed, the bowling ball sized curled up chao, charged towards Rush, hoping to give him damage. Rush widened his eyes, his emerald dot changing into an exclamation point. Quicker than the blink of the eye, the hedgehog chao jumped madly out the way. But that didn't stop the spinning brown ball from following his movement. The hedgehog chao just barely touched the ground, before the Tony ball collided with him, creating a big dust cloud. Once it faded, an uncurled dizzy Tony lied on top of a squished Rush. The poor hedgehog chao wasn't having a good day.
"Sacré bleu'! Ze world iz zinning before my very eyez!" the coyote chao moaned. Rush grunted and propped his feet right under Tony's back.
"Yeah, err, Tony? I'm, ugh, gonna need you to...like get off!" he grunted, kicking his feet up as if he were a kangaroo. With that strong kick, Tony was sent flying 3 feet in the air. The chao screamed in fright, for height wasn't one of his favorites, and quickly used his light red wings to stop his little ride. Flapping them a little faster and steadier, the chao slowly flew back to the surface, directly in front of a frowning Rush. Upon seeing his face, Tony laughed nervously, slightly scratching the base of his ear.
"Eh heh heh, bonjour Rush. What bringz you here, heh?" he asked. Rush sighed, and rubbed his temples.
"Tony, dude, try controlling your little frenzy next time, got it?" he said. "I think you just gave me a nasty bruise on my left wing!"
Tony nodded with a little bit of shame. "*sigh*Understood."
"Now then," Rush started, "mind telling me what the heck is going on?" as he scanned his surroundings a bit. Immediately, Tony's expression dropped. His ears drooped against the sides of his head, and his crystal blue eyes began to tear up.
"Oh, it iz horrible!" he cried. "A giant monstrosity haz gobbled up every chao from ze beach! Hero chao, Dark chao, Neutral chao...even ze kidlings and hatchlings! And what iz even worse, it zook my beloved Bellie from me!" And suddenly, the poor coyote chao broke into a depressed sob with a swirl over his head. Rush tilted his head with a question mark over it.
"Monstrosity? Dude, what are you talking about?" he asked. "Is it the Chao Nabbers again? It better no be, or I'll give them a spin da-!"
"If you would zut up, look zo your far right, fool!" Tony snapped. Rush was confused.
"Huh? Why? What's so imp-?" he asked until he did what he was told. Looking to his far right, he gasped at what his emerald eyes were witnessing. He heard a sudden gasp from Tony, but he couldn't understand why.
"Rush, in ze sky! Look out!" he cried.
"Huh?"
Looking in the sky, his eyes widened even further than what they already did. He could physically see why Tony was panicking, I bet you would to. A car-sized piece of rubble was heading straight towards him, and fast!
"Oh my Chaos..."
To be continued...
Oh no, fly Rush, fly! Well, another chao was introduced. Think you can guess who he might be in the future? It might be obvious, given the accent and all. Anyways, what might've happened to Dimitri? And what about TK? Will he be okay? Find out next time! Please R&R!
