Chapter 6
Renji had defeated Ilfort Granz and, although he was injured himself, hurried back to where Satomi had battled. He had felt her riatsu searching and then it had practically disappeared. He pushed his hair back, the freed strands continuously falling in his face as he ran. He finally got back and saw that Rukia was sitting up, looking a lot better. He looked around frantically and found Satomi propped against a wall. She was covered with still bleeding cuts and her breathing was shallow. He hurried to her side.
"Orihime!" he called.
"What is it, Renji?" Orihime asked as she rushed to him. Before he could answer, she noticed Satomi. "Lay her on her back." He did as she said and soon there was a healing field surrounding Satomi. It wasn't long before Orihime sighed in relief and the healing field disappeared. Satomi's breathing was back to normal but she was still unconscious.
"Is she okay?" Ichigo asked as he and Rukia walked over.
"She is now. Thanks to Orihime," Renji answered.
"It was nothing," Orihime said with a smile. "But you should get her back to Urahara's to rest. She's lost a lot of blood." Renji nodded and gently picked up Satomi.
Satomi slowly opened her eyes and realized that she was looking at a ceiling.
'Someone must have brought me back to Urahara's,' she thought. She noticed that someone was sitting beside her. She looked over and saw Renji sleeping, his elbow propped on his knee, his cheek resting on his hand. His hair was down, falling over his shoulders and around his face. She slowly sat up and reached out, brushing his hair back. His eyes opened slowly and she saw how exhausted he was. She scooted over in her futon and patted the empty space next to her. She laid down as he climbed in beside her. His arms wrapped around her waist as he rested his forehead against her chest. She gently ran her fingers through his hair as he clung to her like a child as he fell asleep again. Satomi sighed as she stared at the ceiling, feeling bad that she was about to say something when Renji couldn't hear her.
"I think I'm really falling in love with you, Renji. I wish I could just tell you. I know it would take a huge weight off your shoulders," she whispered. She sighed and went back to sleep.
Satomi woke up the next morning to find herself alone. She frowned but then the door slid open and Ururu, followed by Renji, entered the room.
"Good morning. I've brought your breakfast," the girl said in her quiet voice.
"Good morning. And thank you. How's Rukia doing?" Satomi asked.
"She's doing fine. She's already walking around," Renji answered.
"Wow. She was injured worse than I was. So why am I getting breakfast in bed?" Ururu handed Renji the food and walked out, leaving them alone.
"You lost more blood than Rukia did because Orihime got to you later. The blood that was left behind…was way more than there should have been. Urahara has a new shihaksho for you, too," he explained.
"I see. Well, I'll have to thank him when I get up," she replied with a smile. Renji couldn't help but smile back.
"For now, you should eat so can regain your strength." She grinned at him.
"Okay!"
A couple of weeks had passed when Grimmjow's riatsu appeared again. Ichigo took off after him and everyone but Rukia, Orihime, and Satomi followed. The girls were actually headed back to the Soul Society when a male Arrancar appeared before them in the precipice world. He had white skin, black hair, and teal markings under his depressed looking eyes. Satomi and Rukia both reached for their swords and suddenly everything went black.
"I can't believe this happened…" Satomi said sadly. Renji gently rubbed her back. They sat at Urahara's, Satomi and Rukia feeling guilty while Ichigo paced around the room.
"Why the hell does Aizen need her anyway?" Ichigo asked angrily.
"We don't know. But we have already set up a communication scree at Inoue's apartment. We should go there and talk to the head captain," Toshiro said. "We'll go on ahead. Meet us there in a couple of hours."
"Okay," he replied.
The door to Orihime's apartment opened and Ichigo stepped inside. The large screen showed the head captain and all the soul reapers present looked grim.
"What's going on?" the teen asked.
"Ichigo…" Satomi started.
"Silence, 3rd Seat Hamasaki," the head captain ordered. She frowned and looked at the ground.
"What's going on?" Ichigo repeated, losing his patience.
"We will not be going after the human girl, Orihime Inoue. There was no sign of struggle which means she went willingly," the head captain answered. Ichigo was immediately angry.
"What do you mean you aren't going after her?" he asked.
"She went willingly. She is now an enemy of the soul society."
"How can you say that? After all the soul reapers she's healed, you're just going to give up on her?" Ichigo yelled.
"All of the soul reapers stationed in the World of the Living are to return to the Soul Society immediately."
"But, Sir!" Rukia and Renji objected.
"Enough!" Suddenly, a senkaimon opened and Byakuya and Kenpachi stepped out. "I thought you might need some convincing." Byakuya's eyes feel on Satomi and, while his facial expression didn't change, something in his eyes lit up. She unconsciously moved closer to Renji.
"It's time you came back with us," Kenpachi said.
"Yes, Captain," Ikakku and Yumichika answered.
"I can't believe this! You're actually going!" Ichigo exclaimed. "You're all giving up!" Renji grabbed him and slammed him against the wall.
"Shut up, Ichigo! Do you really think we want to leave her on her own?" he yelled, getting in Ichigo's face. "Orihime is our friend, too. But we have to follow the Head Captain's orders. We don't have a choice." He leaned a little closer and lowered his voice. "We'll figure something out. Just be patient." He released Ichigo and followed the others through the senkaimon.
"This isn't right," Satomi said as she paced in Renji's living room. Her frown deepened. "We have to do something." Renji sat on the couch with Monkey, Snakey, and Tadahiro watching her carefully.
"What can we do? We have to follow Yamamoto, don't we?" Snakey asked.
"There has to be some way to get to her," Tadahiro said. Satomi sighed. Renji had always known Satomi to be a hard worker and passionately loyal to her friends, but this was different. There was a harder edge to her voice and eyes that said she was losing patience. He frowned as he thought about Byakuya. He had seen the changes happening over time. She was tougher. She also didn't seem to trust people as much. Especially new people. She also lost her temper faster. He sighed and got up, standing in her way. She bumped into his chest and looked up at him.
"You need to get some rest. You can take my bed. I'll take the couch," he told her. Her hands grasped at his shihaksho.
"I don't want to sleep alone," she said quietly, a blush spreading across her cheeks. He smiled and led her to his room. He stopped to look back at Monkey and Tadahiro.
"Don't do anything nasty on my couch." They waved him off and he followed Satomi into the bedroom. She had already crawled into the futon and Renji's chest tightened in a good way. It felt right that she was there with him. He changed into a yukata and climbed in next to her. She instantly curled up next to him. She breathed in deeply, loving the smell that was uniquely Renji. He turned on his side, facing her and pulling her tightly against him.
"Renji?" she asked quietly.
"Yeah?" Satomi looked up at him worriedly.
"Do you think we'll really be able to save Orihime?" He gave her a reassuring smile.
"Of course, I do," he answered. She let out a relieved sigh. She started to lazily draw circles with her fingernails on the part of his chest that the yukata exposed.
"Hey, Renji?"
"Yeah?" She took a deep breath.
"I think I'm in love with you," she said without looking at him. He cupped her cheek and made her look at him.
"Really?" he asked. She nodded, a blush covering her cheeks. He gently pulled her head up so that their lips met in a gentle loving kiss. Their tongues twined together slowly. Renji's hands carefully made their way into the yukata that Satomi had on. She gasped as his calloused hands brushed across her ribs.
"R-Renji…" she said breathily. His lips moved to her throat and placed open-mouthed kisses on the smooth skin. Her hands slid into his hair and worked the ponytail holder free, the flaming red locks falling over his face. Satomi let out a moan and her body arched as Renji pushed her yukata out of the way, gently placing a kiss on the curve of each breast. He looked up at her, his hands holding the tie of her yukata and his eyes showing love and arousal.
"Are you okay with this?" he asked. Happy tears filled her eyes as she realized that he was holding back for her. His eyes were instantly full of concern. He gently smoothed her hair off her forehead. "What's the matter, Satomi? We don't have to do this if you're not ready," he told her, nothing but her well-being in mind.
"That's not it. You're holding back for my sake." She smiled at him and wiped away her tears. "You're a good man, Renji. I love you." His lips captured her again for a long passionate kiss.
"I love you and I want to show you how much I love you," he replied, a wide smile on his face. She cupped his face in her hands.
"Then show me," she said, looking into his eyes. Their lips met again and Renji pulled the tie of her yukata loose. The clothing soon met the floor as Renji hungrily tasted the smooth skin that had been presented to him. His lips moved over her body and left a burning trail everywhere they touched. He drew back to look at the woman in his bed. With the yukata gone, she was left in a lacy red bra and matching panties. He remembered that she had once confided in him that she preferred the human undergarments. She let out a breathy sigh as he lightly brushed his fingers over her ribs.
"You're so beautiful," he whispered in her ear. He then started to nibble and suck lightly on her neck while one of his hands moved over a clothed breast. It wasn't long before she was moaning out loud and reaching for Renji, wanting to be closer to him. His hands slid underneath her back and then her bra was tossed to the floor. He kissed down the side of her throat, across her collarbone, in between her breasts, and down to her navel. At this point, her whole body was trembling. He placed a kiss just above the waistband of her panties and she shivered as his long hair tickled her legs. He gently massaged her inner thighs to relax her more.
"Renji, I n-need you," Satomi breathed out. He let out a low moan at the words and stripped off his yukata. She reached for him as he carefully pulled offer her panties. He breathed in sharply when he looked at her. The woman he had loved for so long lay in his bed, completely exposed and ready to give herself to him. He moaned again and her moan joined his as his fundoshi disappeared and she saw his arousal. His lips landed on hers as he entered her slowly. He swallowed her sounds as he buried himself inside her. Her hands buried themselves in his hair when he started to move. The pace was slow and sensual. Satomi's body soon began to move in sync with Renji's.
"Satomi…" Renji moaned into her neck. His arms wound around her body causing her to arc up into his own.
"Ah!" she cried out. Renji's thrusts picked up speed. She clung to him as he sucked hard on the side of her neck, marking her as his. Their breathing quickened as they started nearing their release. Satomi's back arched as Renji's thrusting became erratic. Her fingernails dug into his back as he gave a particularly hard thrust and they climaxed together, calling out each other's names. Renji rested his forehead against Satomi's and her hands slid into his sweat-dampened hair. They were breathing heavily as they came down from their high.
"Wow," Renji said with a smile. Satomi giggled. They shared a chaste kiss before Renji pulled out of her and lay beside her, an arm curling around her shoulders and pulling her towards him. She snuggled her face into his chest.
"I don't know why I didn't just fall in love with you in the first place. You're so amazing and you wouldn't hurt me like Byakuya did," she said quietly. He grimaced as he hugged her tighter.
"Don't say that name right now. It's just you and me." She smiled at him.
"Of course. I'm sorry." She laid back on his broad chest and started tracing his tattoos. "I love you, Renji. I'm sorry that I didn't realize it before." He smiled and kissed her forehead.
"I love you, too. Let's get some sleep."
